I got a simple gel manicure on my natural nails with some floral designs and a French tip, and I left really satisfied. This time, my technician was a male tech named Thanh. He was friendly at first, offered me a complimentary drink, and even helped me choose my colors. When I showed him the design I wanted, he mentioned that it wouldn't look exactly the same since my nails were shorter, which I completely understood. However, once the service started, I felt like he was rushing through the process. When I pointed out that my right pinky nail got scratched as I was putting my hand into the UV/LED lamp, he just said, "Don't worry about it," and when I mentioned it again, he said, "It's okay, later top coat." On my right index finger, he placed four flowers all in the corners, leaving no full flower in the middle -- very different from the reference photo I showed him. I politely asked if he could adjust it, but when I requested that he re-do the nail (or at least fix one flower), he glared at me as if I was being unreasonable and said, "That's going to take me time," in a rude tone. I understand that fixing it would take extra time, but as a paying customer, I think it's fair to expect the design to look nice and to feel comfortable voicing my concerns. What made the experience worse was when another female tech came over, spoke to him in Vietnamese (which I don't understand), looked at my nails, then looked at me and shook her head as if I was the problem. That was extremely unprofessional and made me feel disrespected. I usually don't leave negative reviews, but this experience left me really disappointed -- especially after having such a great first visit. I hope the salon takes this feedback seriously, because customers deserve to feel comfortable, respected, and happy with the service they pay for.

I've had to change waxers over and over again because the estheticians are constantly leaving. First, I have to work hard with the actual service providers to build a relationship over several months to get my services "right." In the 15 min appts it is hard to express the exact brow shape you're looking for, in example. Or, sometimes the technique being used is unnecessarily painful compared to another provider I'd worked with prior. Then, after 6 months it's finally right and then the technician leaves, and the cycle begins again. Plus, EWC is constantly selling to you. "Buy a wax pass" or "try this product." I can't tell you how many worthless unused EWC products I have sitting under my sink that aren't effective, or how many times I wish I had never purchased a wax pass... so I wouldn't be locked in to coming back here when it just keeps getting worse. I don't recommend EWC. Here, or at any other location (by the way, there is no manager here, and they canceled an appt once bc the opener missed her alarm clock, and both of my waxers left bc this whole location is a hot mess)! It's time for me to move onto better, more clientele-focused businesses... even if it leaves my money on the table with the wax pass I was stupid enough to purchase.

I never really knew the extent to which a good aesthetician goes in order to provide clients with a knowledgeable, safe experience....until I met Meg. I never really put much thought or care into my skin, but then I fought (and beat!) skin cancer. Meg jumped right in and provided me with amazing products to help with the scarring, and now I'm addicted to her stuff (especially her amazing sunscreen!). I sent my friend to Pretty Bird last month, Meg worked magic on her skin! She actively researched my friend's skin issues before they met, and had a regimen of natural products ready to help. Meg does waxing of course, and very skillfully, but she goes much further as an aesthetician. She makes people feel beautiful and pampered, with renewed hope and positivity. The location can be a bit difficult to find if you aren't familiar with the building, which houses a number of different beauty salons/spas. From the front parking lot, go toward the left - the entrance for 2nd and 3rd-floor businesses is tucked away in the side. Go up the stairs/elevator to the third floor, then through the glass doors marked "Jamilla Salon and Spa" and down the hallway to the very end. Aqua Luna is the door on the right, with a cute white wrought-iron sign post over it. I filled out some quick paperwork, then got comfy in the heated bed and relaxed for an hour. Ashley was fantastic about explaining each step as she went along, and there were no bad surprises. I opted for the deep pore facial as I've been breaking out of late, and she gave me some great advice on how to minimize future issues. I also added on the optional enzyme peel, which felt great and left my skin feeling refreshed and oh-so-clean. The environment was soothing, relaxing and very clean; I wasn't at all worried about hygiene or privacy. I've never particularly cared for facials in the past - they're *nice*, but nothing I thought worth writing home about. But my experience at Aqua Luna was fantastic, and I'll not only be back - I'll buy some gift certificates for friends as well.
