I hate writing reviews these days, but I feel compelled to defend Rae Cosmetics because the lack of reviews is causing 1 troll's post to weigh down their star rating. This is not a new business, but since they moved, it's a great addition to the 2nd Street district. There were about eight of us there and the stylists were all professional, friendly,made each of us look fabulous and got us out on time! Rochelle did my hair and makeup for my wedding ten years ago.. yep... 2007. She also did my sisters and mother's hair and makeup. I've since participated in many weddings and I've never seen anyone do as wonderful a job as she did. I remember bonding with her over the fact that she too was a fine arts major in college, as was I. Not only did everyone look beautiful but the staff there is great - super quick to respond via email or calls and checked in/followed up extremely promptly. I scheduled a trial about 2 months prior to my wedding with Allison for hair and Rachel for makeup and thought I was set but decided I actually wanted to try another hairstyle (not that I didn't love the first one, but wanted another option just in case). We couldn't make our schedules work since I lived out of town (which totally freaked me out!) but Allison scheduled in an extra hour for my hair so we had plenty of time to "rearrange" if needed and everything worked out perfectly with the new hair style. We had 2 hair and 2 makeup artists come to our hotel and we all had a great time getting ready - they worked quickly but did a great job... some of the girls weren't sure what look they really wanted but the stylists helped them figure it out and made sure no one looked too overdone. We battled some intense humidity but everyone looked pretty until the end! Their salon is super nice too (which I visited for my trial and a few other makeup applications for wedding events) - really cute on the inside and even offer white wine which is always a plus! read more

I have had so many compliments from people telling me I look refreshed and glowing. She also helped me pick out a few bold lips to up my game for nights out. I read about this company online while searching for makeup for the tropics. I positively never rave about makeup, but this foundation is absolutely amazing and i have never seen anything like it. For skin with flaws, wrinkles or large pores, it does not "gather" into the flaws like most foundations. When I read it was a "tinted moisturizer", that worried me. I didn't want to be greasy and I feared the coverage wouldn't be sufficient. I need not have worried- the coverage is sufficient yet I can't feel it on my skin; it's especially natural-looking, and it is never greasy. I had never before used another foundation with these fantastic characteristics & have been wearing this about 3 years. I can't imagine using another brand. My only complaints: I wish the tubes made it easier to get all the makeup out, or for the price, I wish they'd give you a little more. If you only order one item, the shipping cost is too high. Beyond this, this foundation deserves to be "famous". FANTASTIC job of formulating a truly superior product! read more

5 years ago I had a cosmetic eyebrow tattoo done by another artist and it since faded. Rae did an excellent job picking out the color, touching it up, and making it better than before. I finally made it by yesterday as I am in town from Houston, and I was so excited to try some products because I'm an athletic girl named Rae so um.. match made in heaven? Anyway, I already wanted to love this place. But I was helped by Lisa yesterday and she was so awesome that this shop exceeded my expectations. I thought it was so cool that she made me samples of a few foundations to see which I liked best at home, and I ended up ordering #55 as it's a perfect match and exactly the coverage I'm going for on most days . She was just really helpful about explaining the concept and benefits of everything without trying to push me to buy something immediately that may not be the right match (I had a full face of makeup on and so the tone is probably a little off from my bare skin). After using the foundation to have a pretty active weekend at the beach, I was so impressed because my skin is literally glowing and it really does stay that way even in the heat without being a heavy full coverage foundation. I also checked out the pricing for weddings and it's completely affordable, so I'm excited about looking into the services further for my wedding in 2019. I even think I'm ready to end my long term love affair with Sephora. One more reason I'm excited to be living in Austin starting in the fall! read more

I went to Rae Cosmetics for my bridal hair and makeup, and Leticia did an AMAZING job on both. I didn't have a chance to do a trial session, so I was nervous, but Leticia was a total pro. She consulted with me every step of the way, and created exactly the look I was hoping for: very natural makeup, and a beautiful updo that incorporated fresh flowers. My bridesmaids and I did our hair and makeup here for my wedding. First of all they are such nice ladies. From the moment we walked in we were very warmly greeted and felt cared about. We were offered beverages and told to make ourselves at home. Chassie did my hair and makeup and the whole process was so fun, the fun music(Spice Girls, hello! Perfect girly music to get ready to for your wedding), the studio bright, clean and happy looking, and the ladies were like your best girl friends doing your hair, joking with us the entire time. My hair turned out just like the magazine picture and I was walked though the entire process as she worked to make sure it turned out perfect. I never touched up my makeup once on my wedding day..even after crying and hugging guests, it stayed on perfectly. It was even raining and misty that day. I like be Rae cosmetics. They are a local company. They are made responsibly. They Last. As a mother of two small children the last two are especially important to me. Sure they are more expensive than something from the drugstore but the quality is well worth it. And the price isn't outrageous, it's about on par with Sephora products. Another reason I love Rae cosmetics is the customer service. I value a company that values its clients in return. You have a problem with a product they will make it right. My favorite person at the down town location is Allen. He is really nice and makes the time to give you a little attention/touch up for free when you are getting products. And he gets us! He understands color and complexions and knows how to make you look and feel your best. My only complaint is they don't validate parking on the weekend which means you need to be in and out under 20mins (if you park in the garage) or you can add and extra $8 to your expense. (Which happened to me this weekend) I love this product and company and would recommend them to anyone. read more
