Wow wow wow - and not in a good way. On my first ever and only appointment with this place, one hour before my appointment they called to say they needed to reschedule my 3:30 appointment due to poor planning on their part. The stylist called and said she had someone booked for the wrong service and it was running late. Consequently, she would be unable to do my hair this day. I told her I had an event this evening and was planning on having my hair done for it. I was confused why we couldn't simply start a bit later. She said well because I have a 4:30 appointment. I was confused why we wouldn't all start a little later but he solution was to cancel mine and do the 4:30 at 4:30. I was confused why mine would get canceled due to the person before - why would I get penalized for someone else booking incorrectly? She then said, "fine just come at 3:30 and I'll make it work" and "I asked you a nice question, I don't understand why you aren't cooperating". Let me be very clear - asking someone to cancel an hour before their appointment is not a nice question, it's an imposition. And I have every right to decline. Well, she passive aggressively had the owner call back and say that they would cancel it because she wasn't comfortable doing my hair after after I spoke to her - apparently holding people accountable to commitments is rude now she also said that the 4:30 appointment was booked several weeks ago before my 3:30 was booked so that's why I got penalized instead of the 4:30. None of this makes any sense to me and is entirely unprofessional so I canceled altogether as well as my hair color appointment for the following week. 0/10 do not recommend this salon or Alisha. Ironically, they have a 48 hour cancellation policy which states: "We have a 48 hour cancellation policy for appointments. We charge half of the scheduled appointment upon a no show or last minute cancellation within 48 hours. Please give us a call at 5122014274 at least 48 hours in advance to cancel your appointment and avoid any fees!" Yet, they can cancel at any time. read more

I've been seeing Alisha for my hair since March 2022, and I couldn't be happier. Before meeting her, I never loved my hair long and planned to grow it out for an event then chop it off. However, Alisha's incredible talent has shown me that I simply hadn't found the right haircut/stylist for my long hair. She consistently gives me the best haircuts I've ever had, making me fall in love with my long hair. Even if I decided to go short again, I'm confident she would make it look amazing. KELLY SAVED MY HAIR! backstory, I haven't gotten a haircut in almost 8 years because i'm a bit traumatized from past experiences of hair dressers cutting WAY too short or not making my experience amazing. She was GREAT - so knowledgeable and I feel like I learned so many hair tips and tricks while there. Moved to the area semi-recently and needed a new salon here. Got a recommendation from my friend to go to Lane and she was great (and is also the owner of this location!). She was chatty enough, but not too chatty, and we had a great banter. I get my hair cut about once a year with some layers and she understood exactly what I wanted and was able to get the job done perfectly to my standards. She has always taken the time to listen to me try to describe what I'm looking for and added in suggestions based on her knowledge and expertise 2- The salon is clean and Their playlist always is on point 3- parking behind the building is always open - I've never had to fight for a spot (minus when there was a ton of construction going on for the complex being built behind them 4- Have always been communicated with if my appointment needs to be rescheduled at least 5 days in advance - also Lane has been very understanding if I ever need to reschedule as well 5 - My hair looks amazing - my roots grow out super natural which gives me more time in between appointments to let it chill Overall great salon with great stylists/owners. Durning the pandemic I had box dyed my virgin dark brown hair out of boredom .. not the smartest idea! I had gone a couple months w/ box dyed in my hair until I could no longer take the color. Update: per the salon's response, we emailed a very descriptive complaint that same night, to the contact email on their website, and did not receive any reply. I'd also say that telling your stylist that you don't think it looks correct would qualify as negative feedback. Was hesitant to post a review without hearing from the business first but since they didn't respond to my reaching out: I booked an appt for my best friend here bc she's been dealing with a LOT (house fire, having to downsize wedding) this year and was hoping to give her a fun pick-me-up. Instead, her stylist Alisha was condescending and rather inconsiderate, going on and on about how great things were going for HER after my friend stated she was having a rough time (which, under normal circumstances I get but, come on, read the room!) and saying that she wouldn't wash her hair first bc we picked the "shorter time frame instead of the long one", despite the booking website stating that it should be based off of hair length not time. She was 5 or so minutes late due to traffic, but nothing extreme. Overall, there was only about 30 minutes max used on her session. The bangs/haircut ended up uneven and shorter than she requested, and when she tried to mention that to Alisha, they insisted that it'll look right when it's styled, even though the stylist had already curled it at the time. She's really upset with her cut and the terrible experience, especially the fact that no one has tried to reach back out to help her. read more

After a not so great lightening outcome from my previous stylist of 5 years, I thought I was doomed and that my hair would take months to fix. Anna is seriously an angel and wizard all in one. She heard me, my concerns, my goal, and more than delivered. I discovered Wheelhouse salon because Morgan reached out to me on social media and I'm so glad she did! This salon is so adorable and I felt at home my entire time there. Morgan was very kind and took great care of me. I got my hair washed, cut and styled. I don't cut my hair often so I don't have a go-to hairdresser, but could definitely see myself coming back here! I appreciated how well she got to know me and how she was a bit conservative with my cut since this was our first time together, but I think I should have been more vocal about what she could have cut off. Unfortunately, their receptionist was out sick that day, so Morgan had to deal with an issue up front during my appointment, but another stylist was able to jump in and help dry and style my hair as needed. Although I forgot her name, she was also super friendly, which can probably be said about everyone at Wheelhouse. The only issues I had while here were my appointment taking 30 minutes longer than I anticipated, especially since I had plans after, and parking. They had parking directly in front of the salon, which is fine to park in, however, when leaving you have to back up into S. Lamar where there's a ton of traffic so I was a little scared backing out. Tried Wheelhouse because Michelle moved down here and I love the way she cuts my wavy hair! I wasn't sure about the different levels of cuts they offer (wet/dry/curly, etc) but she'd explained it to me beforehand so I knew that the wet cut was most similar to what we'd done at the previous salon. I worried about parking, but there were available spots in the front and the back. I enjoyed the natural light throughout, especially the sunlights in the washing area. My only complaint is that it seemed a little stuffy, so I felt warmer in there than I expected. But it wasn't enough that I was really uncomfortable. Not the salon for you if you're just wanting a basic cut/trim. The service was fine however I think it is extremely overpriced for basic cuts. I paid $70 to sit in a chair for less than 10 minutes. Geoffrey literally just gave me the best cut ever. I've been to barbers and stylists and most were great. But today I found THE BEST! I decided to switch it up and go to someone who's more then just a barber but someone who is versatile and can do variety of hair ... and Geoffrey is just that! I do recommend this business. Great stylists, atmosphere, location, very fun every time I go. However, their app and website are SO unbelievably buggy that booking is literally impossible to do. I've gone to this salon 3-4 times and not once has either the app or the website actually worked. Their app refuses any password you put in even if it's a copy paste of exactly the same password you just put into the password reset, and the website refuses to advance the page to allow a confirmation after you select a time slot. Both of these problems occur across multiple devices, so it is definitely their platform and not user error. I have called about this and they don't seem to think there's an issue. They're hairstylists, not software developers, so I'm not sure who to get in touch with about this. This means I can only book via phone call during their working hours rather than at home which is very inconvenient for me as I am working or busy myself during the day. Unfortunately, I am probably going to look elsewhere for other salons that provide the ability to book conveniently online even though I really like this place because it's just too much of a hassle. A shame, hopefully they can address this. read more

Jessica is awesome. She really listens to what you want and aims to please. She gave me my first cut and when I asked for her to cut into my hair a bit. She told me she'd do a bit and then see how I liked it so we could add more if I wanted to. Once I gave it a day or two to settle, I decided to do a little more and she took care of me then too, adding "you can always take more but can't put it back".
