I rarely write negative reviews, but unfortunately my experience at this salon was extremely disappointing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had two consultations before my appointment and clearly explained that I wanted to keep my brown hair while adding two money pieces and subtle highlights. I even brought photos to show the exact color I was hoping for, and I was reassured that this look was achievable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, I left the salon with brassy orange hair and an uneven haircut, which was the complete opposite of what I requested. I had spent a long time growing my hair, so having it cut unevenly and over-processed was incredibly frustrating. The service itself was also uncomfortable. During the bleaching process, the application felt very rough and my hair was pulled quite aggressively at the bowl, which was painful and concerning. After the blow dry, I was told I should come back in six weeks to fix the color, which was surprising considering the color was clearly not what had been discussed. It also felt strange to be asked to pay before the blow dry was finished, especially when the damage was already apparent. [[HIGHLIGHT]]To their credit, when I returned, the senior educator and her assistant were much kinder and did try to correct the situation. I appreciate their effort, but unfortunately the final result still wasn't close to what I had originally asked for.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have had my hair lightened and colored at other salons before and have never experienced this level of discomfort or damage. Sadly, my hair now feels very compromised and the color is still not what I wanted. Because of this experience, I would not feel comfortable returning or recommending this salon. I've been coming here for years, and moved with them from their old location to this one. This space is light and airy, the parking is easy, and they validate the garage parking. I see Tess, and I normally get a cut and single process color to cover my gray, with a partial highlight thrown in every 6ish months. DO NOT GO HERE. Fried and cut off 12 inches of my hair! Left me with black tips. Red orange yellow and green throughout my hair. I had to pay over $1000 for a 9.5 hour colour correction after they fried off my hair. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They gaslit me and have taken no accountability after several attempts to allow them to.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] NATALIE left bleach on my hair for 1 hour and 8 minutes, and then later stated she only left it on for 25 minutes. This salon is completely dishonest, inconsiderate and overpriced. I have tried several different stylists over several years now. I got my haircut by Carlie. I begged her and reiterated multiple times not to lose any length and to cut 1inch or less and she literally cut 4inches off. Not only that, it also is very uneven. One side is noticeably shorter than the other and there are some noticeably long strands that she forgot to cut that were part of my original length so you can see how much she removed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The worst part, when she finished cutting she ensured me she took LESS THAN AN INCH off. Unfortunately I measured with the piece she accidentally didn't cut and it was indeed 4 inches off.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The purpose of this review is not to tear her down, but to please not make the same mistake with another client. I never write negative reviews, but I left this salon and felt like garbage. The hair job I had done was fine, and I won't name drop this person bec she is held in high regard at this salon. I waited several weeks to see this person, and was beyond excited. Toward the end of my time in her chair, she tells me that it was basically a mistake I was scheduled with her, due to her short work week & extensions clientele, and I'd need to schedule with someone else next time. I was extremely uncomfortable and felt embarrassed. I apologized to her more than once. The front desk girl then told me "it was a mistake" that I was scheduled with this person, as I was paying. I apologized again, and left with my tears in my eyes. I came for a service, paid, and left APOLOGIZING for being there. What was said to me was insensitive, disrespectful, and frankly it was rude. Not only has this happened, but my husband said the front desk staff has been very rude to him twice over the phone in the recent past due to scheduling. He couldn't get a word in. We wanted to love Mirror Mirror, but just like many of the one 1 star reviews- unfortunately my husband and I have had a terrible experience. I hope that this stylist and the front desk staff can be more sensitive and kind to other NEW clients. There are other ways to gently let a client know that you are unable to see them in the future. There's nothing worse than coming in excited for a service and leaving feeling like garbage. I've never been treated like this before by any service provider in West Lake. I previously wrote a review about my bad experience with one stylist and the bad balayage after she was 45+ minutes late to starting my appointment. I was understanding but the sequence of events was enough to write a review. Well I was dumb enough to go back to Mirror Mirror to another stylist for a cut. And I'm now editing my review to add a second bad experience. I cut off about 4-5 inches and asked for layers and she hacked my hair. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day or just isn't trained in cutting proper layers. I will never go back to this salon. I have now had two bad experiences with two separate stylists. She gets my color just right and always offers to curl my hair at the end and just generally goes above and beyond! I hate leaving bad reviews but I was not happy with the service I received today.. [[HIGHLIGHT]]the customer service was not up to par and what I asked for was not what I was really given.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I asked for LONG FACE framing layers and I was basically given layers but not framing my face and it's shorter than I expected. It's also all one length which doesn't look super pleasing.. in the past, my hair always looked more into a v-shape with long face framing layers but it looks more straight across. I also didn't expect my hairstylist to start a service on another client majority of my service while the assistant was doing the job.. [[HIGHLIGHT]]there was a huge lack of communication when my color process started so I was a bit confused at one point not knowing I was given a gloss treatment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Hopefully that gets my hair fully back to my natural color but we'll see I guess. I understand hair grows back but I guess it's bothering me so much bc I have my wedding coming up, [[HIGHLIGHT]]I expected better customer service instead of silence majority of the timeframe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I'm not one to make a comment about this in person bc I feel it's rude and honestly there isn't much that can be done at this point with how short my hair is but idk it's just not what I expected. Finally got my hair cut after a year and wanted to try a new place. Mirror Mirror is taking a lot of Covid precautions which is great! That's one of the reasons I decided to try them out. The only thing that was frustrating was their text message bot. You had to text when you arrive and they would text you when to come in. I felt like l was texting this bot for 10 min just to say I was here because it kept wanting to schedule a new appointment. ‍ BUT besides that, Natalie did my hair cut and she had a special where I got a free treatment! My hair needed some TLC and she did such an AMAZING job. I loved my hair and how she did the waves. Definitely recommend Natalie and will be coming here in the future!
