I went in to this salon wanting to get dip on my nails because a bunch of them broke, and I wanted something strong that would promote growth. The man they had do my nails was incredibly rude, even when I described the situation to him. It just was not a pleasant experience. I have gotten pedicures here before, and they were always nice. Maybe it is just the guy that works there that is the issue, but I would not go back just from that one experience. It is also just super cluttered and they always seem all over the place. Not the most relaxing environment. I got the dip on my nails like a week ago, and I woke up this morning with my thumb nail bare. No dip! I have never had dip just pop off the nail like that. I'm a guy. And men occasionally need some grooming help too. So, after a recommendation from family, I decided to give Color Nails and Emma in particular a chance to earn my business. They have. I got an excellent men's manicure and pedicure from Emma. I can schedule online. The price is a bit more reasonable than my previous nail salon. And finally, it's just over 5 minutes from the house. I had the most wonderful acrylic nails done in my life the other day. The environment is relaxed and comfortable. The refreshing part was they really want to know what you like before getting started, so they're great communicators (very rare from my experience). Since Vivian's not there anymore this place has gone downhill. I'm very upset. My mom was in there to get her toes and nails done today. She went in at 2:15 and almost at 5 o'clock. She still hadn't got her nails done!!! I had asked will she be done by 5pm they said YES! She's 86 years old and they had her sitting in a chair with no one letting her know when she would be getting the nails started. Other people coming in and still my mom sat.... I'm very upset! I've been going there for years! I will not be BACK! All they needed to do is tell my mom to come back tomorrow because they're too busy, but instead they made her sit there for an hour 1/2!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME! My daughter and I went here a few times and gotten decent pedicures and manicures, and the people seemed nice. However, my daughter noticed that one of the nail techs didn't do a great job, so when she went in for a set of acrylics with nail art, she asked another tech for a manicure. The person said yes, then walked off and the other tech started working on her. Well, she hated it, and felt terrible saying anything. She burst into tears the minute she got home. We called and spoke to the manager, who said they were closing and that she could come in the following week and they'd redo it. My daughter decided she didn't want to wait, so she got her nails done that same day at a much better place (highly recommended Enjoy Nails & Spa!). Since this seems to be a family business, I wanted to continue to support them, so I went in the following weekend for a pedicure. When I explained what happened and asked them to refund my daughter's manicure, the manager said they don't ever give refunds. Truly disappointing that they don't care about customer satisfaction or keeping me as a client, but that's their choice. My choice is to never go back, and to make sure people know how they treat their customers. read more

Normally it takes the other spot I go to 2 hours just for mine. They also turned out amazing! I am actually sitting in this place as we speak getting a toe nail polish change and a shellac manicure and the service is pretty awful. For starters I walked into the salon to see a young boy wrapped in a fitted bed sheet (presumably from their waxing room) getting a hair cut in the middle of nail area! The polish change on my toes was adequate aside from her spraying my legs with freezing cold water after she filed them. I get my toe nail polish changed at a nail salon because I have impressively unsteady hands so the polish was better than I could have done but that's about it. When I asked for a shellac manicure and asked to see their colors (to match my toe color) they handed me a bin of shellac bottles. They had no display whatsoever. Normally with nail polish I wouldn't complain but shellac polishes are in typically white or black bottles so you can't see the color! I picked a neutral color because I figured it couldn't be that bad. I already have a very low opinion of this place and while my manicure is being completed another girl walks in asking for a full set of fake nails with designs. Apparently according to the man who was cutting the boy's hair (it appears he's the owner) they don't do nail designs here. All in all about the only positive thing about this visit is the girl that did my nails. She was nice and polite. That's it. I won't be back. read more

Don't go here!!! I just got my nails done here and I am very dissatisfied. The man who did my nails didn't engage in conversation with me at all. The place was very dark and quiet no music or television on to make the time pass. He was very sloppy with my shellac manicure that I paid $35 for. I think I could have done a better job myself by watching a Pinterest How-To or a YouTube video. My cuticles have shellac on them and his hand massage was less than a minute on both hands. Most salons sanitize their tools and have individual pouches for them but not here. He simply dipped his tools in the sanitizer. I will never ever go back here again. He did not even ask if I liked it. I got a French tip style and the arcs on my nail are ridiculous and the striping is uneven and blotchy. I seriously don't know what some people are talking about when they post pictures of their messy nails. I am convinced that they either did it themselves or they went to another salon because I've been coming here for over a decade and my nails constantly look nice, clean, and professionally done. Alan and Tram both have decades of experience under their belt and always do a fantastic job. I've came here since I was a kid, and I will continue to come here as long as I'm in Austin. Also, make sure you do make an appointment unless you're willing to wait because people with appointments do get first priority. Additionally, I read reviews about how it was "extremely quiet" at the salon. Alan and Tram will most definitely engage in conversation if you get them going. The nail technicians are very friendly, so just ask them about kids, or weekend plans, or something and they will reciprocate. The technicians typically are talkative, but I've been told some people want to just sit and relax in peace and quiet when doing their nails so it's hard for them to gage whether or not you'll want to talk. If you don't want to talk, they also have a TV constantly on in the background that you can watch. If you just ask them to change the channel or crank the volume up, they'll do it gladly. Like I said -- they're really nice people who do an excellent job. I STRONGLY recommend you giving this place a try before you let other reviews convince you otherwise. read more

I had a mani and a pedi. The pedi was fine, I've been there several times for that service. This time I asked for a mani as well. My nails are short and I rarely get them done. After asking several times for a clear with a tint, either a white tint or a pinkish tint, they could not understand what I was asking for so I just asked for clear. The woman doing my mani barely paid any attention to what she was doing and after a few attempts of asking her to file several nails again that were crooked, I ended up just doing it myself. A clear coat of some sort was applied and the after they dried, they felt like sandpaper. Two different technicians felt my nails and said they could put another top coat on but when I asked why my nails felt like sandpaper and my toes didn't, they said it was because my toes had color and my hands did not. I asked them to take off the topcoat and I would do it myself at home. When leaving, I said I did not think I should pay full price for the mani. They eventually gave me a $3 discount. I'm not a confrontational person. No voices were raised, just a poor mani. Given their tone to me, this is someplace I will not return. read more

Granted, this place isn't pricey at $26 for a full set of acrylic, and you get what you pay for. This isn't the worst set of nails i've ever gotten, it's the 2nd worst though. The guy, the owner, who did my nails tried to upsell me to solar nails. I'm no stranger to nails, but he told me that if I got a acrylic they would just pop off, wrong. If you do a crappy job they will just pop off. They were using some really crappy glue because he kept having to press the tips down and when he'd move on, he'd have to go back and press it again. All of my nails are different shapes. One of my nails had a HUGE flaw in it and before he started painting I asked him to fix it. He said something in his language to the other women (after not speaking most of the time) at which point they looked at me and laughed. Their color selection is red-pink in about 200 shades with maybe a handful of funky colors to choose from. Once he painted my nails he bumped my thumbnail and said he'd fix it. By fix it, he didn't mean take off the polish and fix it, he meant put another coat of polish and another coat of topcoat over the mistake for a total of 5 coats of polish. No wonder when I left after 15 minutes under the dryer the first thing to get effed was that nail. Mush. I went home and took the polish off, reshaped my nails and repainted them. NOW they look good. read more
