I've been going here for years. Since March, I have only ever been out to pickup takeout or groceries. Deciding to get my pedicure was a tough decision. But my feet simply couldn't take it anymore as I'm not able to self care my feet very well. I was happy the lady doing my pedicure was wearing a mask but none of the two ladies chatting at the nail desks were. I asked them if they required masks for employees and one of them said they were 6ft from me while the other grabbed hers. And yes while she was 6ft from me at the time, both ladies are sitting in the same vicinity of where customers would have to sit, spreading germs and not cleaning it. I don't think I'll be back because their work ethics during this time just doesn't match with someone id like to support. read more

Came in as a new client with a photo of what I wanted. Ann immediately had me seated in her chair and quickly got to work. She was gentle, meticulous and efficient. She took her time to take care of my nail beds and did not neglect them in the acetone needed to remove old gel. Judging by the way she consistently looked at the points and quality of the sheen for each nail, I feel she is definitely a perfectionist. The spa is serene, quiet and clean. Honestly one of my favorite things about this place is the extended hours! I'll come in Saturdays right at 9:30am after my coffee run and always get great service. If I miss a Saturday, they're open til 7pm, making it easy for me to pop in after work! I used to come every other Saturday like clockwork, but then moved down to South Austin, so it just wasn't convenient for me to come up so often. After 4-5 months of trying to find a place with equal service down south- I'm back! Nothing compares to the great nails I get done here, so I make the drive to see these wonderful people. Ann does my gel nails about every other week and they always come out amazing! I have never once had an issue with gel nails peeling/chipping when I've gotten them done here, even by different technicians. Last time I got just a simple French manicure done with gel nails, and I'm in love with the result! Kudos to Ann for her awesome work each time. Asked me what I wanted to drink Everything was so clean and nicely decorated . I don't know if I should be angry or just laugh about it. Came to get my eyebrows done and it was a complete waste of my time and gas money. She basically presses her nails in my forehead the whole time and never did my brows. I walked out the same way I went in. I said well do you know how to do eyebrows? Nails were made to look thin and natural which I loved Nail shaping was the reason it got docked a star, I normally do almond but it was a very rounded almond and some were slightly different shapes and lengths. I didn't ask her to change it after I saw but I'm sure she would have gladly worked on them some more had I asked but I was low on time. All done under an hour though! This is my go to nail salon in Austin. I've lived here 5 years and tried quite a few, but this place is always consistent, fast, detailed, and attentive. I see Tina - I always ask for her (she even did my nails for my wedding). She always double checks her work and never have I left with a half done job or any complaints about the polish smudging or not being detailed. Pricing is fair, very happy to find a spot I can go back to. Parking is ample and easy, next door to Lowe's, so easy for a quick errand too. Love the ladies here! read more

So happy with how my nails turned out! I usually do my own nails at home because I'm pretty picky but I felt like pampering myself today. The few times I've gotten my nails professionally done, I've been a little disappointed due to sloppy work but Ann did such a great job and was very thorough and meticulous (cuticles were trimmed well, filing and shaping was nice, and polish applied evenly and not too thick). The tips of my big toenails are brittle and tend to break easily so she recommended trying a gel pedicure. Gel pedicure and gel manicure came out to $70 and an additional $6 for nail art on two nails. I thought the price was very reasonable for the quality. Makes me think I'll be splurging a little more on my nails now that I've found this place! read more

Ouch! I'm unfortunately not coming back to La Mode Nail & Spa. I came in on a Friday morning before leaving for a weekend getaway. I was excited to get my old gel polish off and a fresh coat put on :) I picked out a peach color. After she took off my old polish and started putting on my new peach color I realized that the peach looked nothing like peach, but more of a red color that did not look great with my skin tone. I asked if I could take it off (she had already finished one hand) and she said "hold on" and went to grab a pink color to put over the red. Obviously, I could have spoken up a bit earlier, but I wasn't happy with the color so it really shouldn't have been that big of a deal. Putting a pink color over the red just made things look worse. My nail polish now just looked thick and sloppy. I could tell she didn't want to start over. This is when the owner (I think is the owner...she is super sweet) came over and said don't worry she will take care of you. I was also getting a pedicure, so they moved me to start the pedicure and had me soak my gel polish while she did my pedicure. Other than the fact that I could tell she was annoyed with me, I thought well hopefully she will be done soon and I can leave. Not a feeling you want to have when you are getting your nails done. After my pedicure, she took off the red gel color on my nails. I go to pick out a new color and she tells me to "sit down, I will pick the color." At this point, I just want to get the hell out of here. She picked what I'm guessing is a popular blue color, which wasn't bad but still not even close to a peach or even a color that I picked out. This isn't about time or even the money, its how I was treated for simply not liking my color. Before leaving, the skin around my nail bed was burning. She was clearly mad and annoyed about having to start over and being very rough or at the very least just not paying attention. She basically buffed and filed my skin off. When I got back from my weekend trip, I called the salon. The woman that I spoke with for 10 minutes, asked me to call back in 15 minutes to speak with a manager. I called back and no one answered. There are other nail salons that I can go to in Austin where I won't be treated like this. read more

This salon is a great find in the North Shoal Creek neighborhood! I highly recommend getting a manicure-pedicure here. Sundays after 3pm is a great time to come in. And LA Mode nails is ONE of the FEW salons open until 6pm on Sunday so you don't feel like you're getting rushed if you wander in at 4:30pm, like I did ;-) Ann is delightful; she helped me pick a color when I was unsure. Always gives a warm hug. Ann does my gel manicure and I always leave the place with a great smile on my face. She waxes my brows so nicely that they look so natural but clean and trimmed. She tells me to always call before I go in so I have an appointment already. She does not rush whenever she works on my manicure. She always takes her time. The rest of the staff are great too. I went to La Mode for quite a while because they offer good service in a clean environment for a good price. Unfortunately, the last two times I have been in they have charged me full price while having an understudy who was learning to do nails work on me. I don't mind people learning, but not on my dime. The first of these two times my nails looked so bad when I got home that I had to take my polish off. The second, they nicked me pretty good and it was just generally painful. I hope La Mode gets back to providing good service again soon. read more

The people here were so nice and putting up with a horrible customer that was there the same time as me which is why I had a hard time making a complaint while I was there. I had a gel manicure, the polish was not evenly put on and dooes not even go down the full length of my nail. I had them done on Thursday. Today is saturday so it hasn't even been three full days and now there is a weird green hugh to the natural tan color of the polish. It's horrible. Ruined my nails. I have strong, long nails and I went in for a dip powder/SNS mani. I got there at 5:40 with an appt. down the road at 7:00. 7:05 rolls around and my nails weren't done, so I had to leave. Okay, I'll give them the fact that they didn't finish, but! I've never had my nails take so long and They absolutely ruined my nails take a look at my pictures below. They actually didn't do any type of SNS on my nails as they used acrylic activator and they filed my nails down so much my nails are broken. The guy that did my nails was in a hurry so much so that he cut me while using the electric file. I won't be coming back here and I am disappointed I paid $45 to be injured and have my nails ruined. Like I said, I had to leave early and I don't mind that my nails are matte, I mind that the shapes are uneven and my nails were filed down and broken. I am quite particular about the shape and look of my nails; rarely do I leave a nail salon completely satisfied. However, this time I was beyond impressed.
