I've been going to Indigo Nail Lounge since April, and I truly LOVE it! Marley is my nail artist, and she does an amazing job on my fingernails every single time. She applies Luminary, which makes my nails look beautiful and last so well. She's always so kind and provides customer service that goes above and beyond. I haven't met everyone in the shop yet, but the team members I have met are always super friendly and welcoming whenever I come in. I received a manicure from the owner, the product that I left with was absolutely horrible. I asked for a sharp square French tip luminary manicure. I even showed the owner pictures of how my nails usually look when they are done. I was charged over the booking price for nothing special and absolutely not what I even asked for. While she was doing my nails I had to correct her 4 to 5 time after the 5th time correcting her technique I could tell she was getting frustrated so I just stopped. LOVE Indigo Nails!! They know the science that goes into the right way to do nails and it shows with the longevity of the manicure (I usually redo it every 4 weeks and have even had to stretch 5+ with NO CHIPS!). They're also one of the only places in town that uses Luminary (a builder gel). I avoided doing my nails for years because regular polish chips fast and gel tears up my nails. Luminary makes them strong and NEVER chips on me- it's like I attach little indestructible tools to my fingers- even with heavy water exposure! And it should be mentioned... the nail techs are easy to talk to; kind and interesting. Since they do offer so many services that are unique, if you're new, you might want to call and talk about what to book before setting up the appointment. I didn't book the right thing the first time but luckily what I truly wanted and what I booked matched time-wise so it wasn't a big deal. :) read more

I've been to a lot of nail salons and you always get what you pay for. This is the only salon I've been to where I feel my (often bitten and damaged) nails are treated gently and with the care they deserve. Ask for Jenna, and if you get tips on your nails, get the Gel-X rather than acrylic - it's much gentler and healthier! Prices are very fair for the time and quality of service. I recently went in to get my nails filled. I have been wearing builder gel for 10 years. I did my research online before making an appointment with Jenna. She was very nice and knowledgeable. It helped that I knew what I needed and wanted done to my nails. I don't get complicated designs but I do like my glittery polishes. The salon was busy, but quiet. Since I moved here from Las Vegas Nv and loved my nail salon there, it was a big change for me. I was looking for nail salons in my neighborhood, and this shop popped up on Google. The shop is conveniently located, plenty of parking, welcoming and calming atmosphere, very clean shop and bathroom, nail tools were in sealed packaging, great music and excellent ventilation - it does NOT smell like a typical nail shop because they don't do acrylics. I hadn't heard of GelX before viewing the Indigo Nail Lounge website, but it looked very promising. And Yelpers, I honestly could not be happier! These are the most realistic and most comfortable nails I've ever gotten, ever! I have thin, wimpy nails with tiny nail beds due to childhood nail biting...so, I"ve gotten plenty of acrylics/tips over the years. GelX is "it" for me. And Marci is truly phenomenal! Her process and application is detailed and truly perfect! It'll take me a minute to get used to the length, but I've never loved my nails this much after leaving a shop! I stopped going to Indigo because one of the owners " Jenna " was my manicurist and when she is in a bad mood you feel it as a customer. She talked bad about her staff except for " Marcie " and she dragged poor Karen through the mud who drives 100 miles to come to work! She has taken my kindness for granted and I would give %30 percent tips I also gave her $2000 so that she can buy a new car to drive back and forth to Wimberly! I'm battling cancer and sent her a message asking for anything back to help with my medical bills and in return, I ended up being gossip at work for her staff and customers! Tried this place out thanks to Belly Bites, which was offering a free manicure. When I showed up with gel polish that needed to be removed I was told I'd be charged an additional $25 for the removal. I understand removing gel takes a little more effort than normal polish, but I do it myself at home in 10 minutes quite frequently so was annoyed at the high price. Given I didn't want to pay the fee, I was told my other option would be to have my nails buffed, cuticles pushed back and they'd just reapply another coat of shellac on top of my gel. Sounded okay to me in theory given it was free until I walked out of the salon. I'm not sure the science behind it but the gel and shellac obviously don't mix given that my polish started peeling up from the sides. It's not something I would have guessed would happen but you'd think someone working as a nail artist would know if would work or not. Now my nails looks worse than they did when I entered and I'll be returning to my normal salon to get it fixed. Rating 2 stars because the place is clean and the staff seemed nice enough, but the ridiculous prices and low quality of service would keep me from ever going back as a paying customer. read more

I discovered this place through the Belly app since they were offering a free 'peace manicure'. The receptionist wasn't exactly warm and fuzzy, but she was cordial and offered me wine or a mimosa which was cool. The location is in a strip center with other businesses, but the inside feels like a home in Hyde Park. Wood floors, big comfy chairs for pedicures and a tall bar type table for manicures. The decor is pretty neato too! They didn't do a ton of top coats of polish which I like.. Other places do way too many which makes it impossible to dry and they end up smudging. I had made an appointment since their website says its strongly encouraged. They had to turn someone away that was a walk-in since they were booked but I thought it was cool that they offered her coupons for the inconvenience. I really wanted to like this nail salon because I'm a fan of girlie pampering and spas with individual soaking tubs (I've seen a few too many specials on the risks of those comfy, but fungus-filled pedi massage chairs...blech). When I walked in, I was struck by the juxtaposition between the beautifully done interior space (serene, airy shades of blue, sand, and white) and the strange vibe amongst the staff. They didn't seem to like each other or their boss. They also came across as inexperienced and quite unprofessional (super-casual attire, talking loudly about birth control). The services themselves were rushed and of poor quality. My brows looked less "done" after the wax - the aesthetician didn't seem very careful, precise, or interested in her work. I should have trusted my gut and opted out as soon as she ushered me into the back room. Instead, she managed to take off the natural arch above my brow and remove too much from one side when waxing between my brows. It's going to take a long while for them to grow back and look normal. Terrible. And, my pedicurist was sweet, but did a half-hearted job with filing, massage (less than a minute per foot...seriously), and painting. I could have done better at home. They run lots of promotions, which is what prompted me to check out the salon. Save your money if you want to avoid disappointment and brow butchery. Back to Embellish I go! read more

RE nails: Shellac.... dries immediately-must put hand in dryer for a total of 2 minutes... then dry... I mean... put on your socks and sneakers... NOTHING to worry about. LOVE IT!!! They pay attention to detail, which is awesome! Meredith helped me with a manicure and pedicure. Remember 2 things: With pedicure and Shellac... can't have feet soaked in water during pedicure bc Shellac needs dry nailbeds... but worth it. DON'T peel of.. you will peel off your nail like taking off acrylic. I heard her, agreed not to... and did anyway once the growth line formed. DON'T... now my nails are weaker and I had to cut short until they grow out enough to get their strength back. SOOO I decided to shellac clear with a hue of pink so that I don't notice the growth line... this way I'm less likely to pick. read more

My group of four ladies paid a visit this weekend and really loved this place. Everyone we encountered was incredibly friendly, and they were eager to make us comfortable and accommodate our group. A woman that appeared to be the owner or manager was very visible and attentive to both us and her staff. The staff expressed gratitude for each other as well, which made it feel all the cozier. Pedicure station had real chairs and felt like the posh, ethereal living room of a romance novel writer. The copper tubs were whisked away to a sanitizing station when we were done. All hands were on deck to take care of us. This is the first time in a long while that I've felt really confident about the hygienic practices of a nail salon. For two of us, it was a 25 minute drive to get here, and we agreed it was worth it. We'll be back. read more

I went today to get an eyebrow and lip wax. I was playing hooky from work and on their website it says "walk in's welcome Mon-Tue-Thur" and so I assumed when I got there they would be able to quickly assist me. I walked in and had to wait about 15 minutes for one of the girls to finish. I didn't mind because the owner was working on someone and I was offered a water or magazine and they apologized for having me wait, they usually are not this busy during the week, in the middle of the day. That's OK, really! So the girl (I do not remember her name) took me in the back into a TINY room to do my wax. Not too much to say about the actual room, it was clean as far as I could tell. The girl was very quick and it was as painless as a wax CAN be. I of course turn bright red when waxed and she put some ointment on it and sent me on my way. I used my 10% off YELP check in offer here and before tip it was 23.00. With tip, 28.00. Not bad.... but its up to you if you like the salon-in-a-box generic kind of treatment. I can tell if you went here for your nails that the salon is nice and has a good selection. The girl gave me a $5 off coupon to use Mon-Wednesday and then a postcard to fill out for another 10% off. I probably won't come back regularly but when I want to get a deal, I will be back for sure. read more

They always do a great job on my pedicures, especially since I tend to wait too long in between and my toes are a mess. They really take the time to make sure my nails are in good shape and never seem rushed to get to the next client. Pros: Great pedicures that are long lasting, good massages. Peace Love Nails offers a great venue for hosting a mani/pedi party with friends! The serene, beautifully decorated space and exceptional service make this salon ideal for a day of pampering by yourself or with a group. I treated my mom, mother-in-law, and five friends to some services here the day before my wedding, and everyone had a great time. Pam allowed me to make a reservation, ensuring us plenty of space and available nail techs. We recieved complimentary mimosas and wine, and my mom enjoyed a hot tea. The salon also allowed me to bring in a tray of fruit and a selection of antipasti so we could have some snacks. Reserving the space was free; I only paid for the services we got. And Pam even gave me a bit of a price break (there was a coupon on the website). While $35-40 for a pedicure is a little higher than I pay at some other places, the atmosphere and service here merit some additional cost. Also, Peace Love Nails features something called Shellac nails. It's amazing. Normally, my fingernail polish chips off in about 2 days. The CND Shellac product stayed perfect for about 2 weeks (and I was at the beach for a week). It actually would have lasted longer, but my nails were growing out, so it started to look a little weird. Not that I get my nails done that often anyway, but I will probably never get a regular manicure again. Shellac is definitely worth the extra $10. read more

I have still been going to their location and I still love the ladies there but they have recently raised prices (which is to be expected once material costs rise) but here is the issue: They charged me extra for an accent nail, no art, no fancy paint, just one nail that was a different color. I don't have 6 nails on each hand so the fact that they expect me to pay an extra $5 for that seems ludicrous. I understand overall cost rising but there is about 10 seconds of extra work require, no additional materials used and there was no mention of this add-on when I requested the accent. Maybe it's me. Maybe the 'contemporary martha stewart cottage' atmosphere reminds me of the snooty home town I ran screaming from. Maybe I keep going on a day when one of the staff has just gotten really bad news. But there's something...off about this place. It's not unclean or overcrowded. Not terribly overpriced. No one stabbed me with an orange stick. But it seems like the staff is just barely courteous enough. Not just to me but to each other. No one is outright rude. However there are slightly pursed lips behind the polite smiles. I don't expect them to be my best friends but I always feel a little judged when I walk into this place. Granted I'm not exactly their target market - I don't carry a prada or kate spade bag and my hair is usually in an unkempt ponytail or two. Is the staff more polite to the (more) expensive (than mine anyway) bag-carriers? I honestly don't remember. Maybe they're like this to everyone. Maybe it's because I only get a pedicure. I make an appointment beforehand and tip well. I generally feel guilty enough about having someone scrubbing my feet to try to make pleasant conversation. But there's usually an eerie silence and my lone voice echoing in the room. I don't even remember hearing music. It's a weird contrast to the super loud quickie nail salon I go to sometimes where I can't understand anything the tech is saying. I guess this silence is supposed to be relaxing. That being said the price is great - comparable to the quickie salon I go to. And the regular nail polish lasts four times longer than pedicures from other shops; Lasting over a month when I'm lucky to have a pedicure go more than a week! I have no idea how this happens. I don't see them do anything really special. It must be the quality of the polish. But no joke - well over a month. That is crazy town! So far that's been worth the 30 minutes of awkward silence. Sitting in upholstered armchairs is interesting. They must be scotch guarded to hell and back. And I worry every time the girl brings out the big copper bowl filled with water. Hope she doesn't spill it and mess up the wood floor! Lord this review makes me sound like such a paranoid little twitching bunny. I'm really not I swear. I have nothing but great things to say about this place. On a recent date with my little sister, we decided we wanted to have manicure/pedicure done. We set up our appointments the night before for the evening, which is rare among nail salons. We came and were instantly greeted. It's a nice little boutique and I wish I could have gotten more time to check out all their little trinkets and things but we were then immediately seated and got quickly prompted with what we would like to drink. It's not a typical salon. I am Vietnamese and I HATE going to nail salons because of the eerie quiet calm that happens when the Vietnamese person walks into a Vietnamese nail parlor. Sorry, it makes me uncomfortable that they're being quiet because I know what they're saying! They also do not have the typical chairs with the gear and hardware. You sit in an armchair surrounded by magazines and then they bring big copper tubs with warm water for you. The girls are all nice but on that evening, they were packed so I could tell she was tired. I forget the girl's name so I cannot recommend her but she did a great job with my nails. My manicure lasted a solid 2 weeks before chipping set in. The lil sis was also very happy with her pedicure. I like the color options here as well. NIce, good, solid colors that aren't thinned out. Since we were later, I got to sit under one of those hand lamps twice which definitely helped seal in the manicure. Everyone was so nice. I would definitely come back with some girlfriends! Nope. Nopenopenope. This place clearly has not changed on their walk-in policy in two years. I was informed at 405pm that they were closing early (they advertise that they are open until 6pm) because they didn't have enough appointments so they started sending people home. This moment also reinforced my previous experience that they don't want your business if you pop in wearing workout clothes and no makeup. I must further not be their preferred clientele because I dared to question that $10 was a bit high for shellac removal. It's acetone and tin foil. Welllll, I was informed that "it's also time." I didn't realize that the going rate was two dollars a minute these days! I also dared to waffle on the service I wanted because a shellac is FORTY FIVE DOLLARS (it does include the removal). A regular manicure is $25, and I was pondering costs and benefits in my head. I was asked if I wanted to make an appointment and I said, no thank you I would like a manicure now that's why I walked in; this was when I was informed that they were closing nearly TWO HOURS EARLY. As I was leaving, I threw over my shoulder at them that they'd probably have more business if they were good for their word. I tried out this salon last week after reading the positive reviews online and after I learned that they do the new Shellac style manicure. The owner, Pam, was very nice and greeted me instantly. I sensed some tension between Pam and the Technicians who were working, however, they were all pleasant. I started off with a pedicure which was very nice and relaxing. I was slightly disappointed in the length of the foot/calf massage- I feel that it should be a bit longer for $35. Also, I've already had two of my toenails chip and it's only been 4 days! Yikes! Next, I had my Shellac manicure done. Now, I understand that this is a new technique, and it turns out that this salon has only been offering Shellac for 2+ weeks. However, this is my third time to have a Shellac manicure and I'm VERY disappointed. The Technician spent so much time scraping the old polish off of my nail beds with an orange stick that my fingernails were literally sore the next day. Also, my cuticles were trimmed in such a way that they look ragged now. As for the Shellac manicure itself- don't go here for this service. They need MUCH more practice! While I was there, another customer had issues with her Shellac manicure bubbling. They were able to fix it somewhat, however, they asked her to come back the next day to re-do all of it! Then, while I was still there (having my nails slowly scraped off), another customer came in complaining that she had a Shellac manicure done 3 days prior and she wasn't happy with the results...I now know what she meant. My nails are already chipping (keep in mind that Shellac is supposed to last a minimum of 2 weeks), and every single nail has bubbles in it. My fingernails literally look like I let my niece paint them with cheap, thick polish. Like I said, the overall spa-like feel of this business is very nice, but please take my word for it and avoid going here for a Shellac manicure anytime soon. They need MUCH more practice! Pam spent most of the time blaming the polish and explaining that they needed to exchange the polish as they had been shipped "bad bottles". Nope...you just need more training! Peace, Love, Nails was my first pedicure in Austin. Never has a person needed a pedicure more badly than I did when I made an appointment and Peace Love Nails. I got a little lost on the way and ended up in Round Rock, even though the salon is about 10 minutes from my house, but that's another story for another time. I called to let them know I was lost and wouldn't make my appointment and the lady who answered politely rescheduled me. This salon isn't the usual strip mall nail shop. This place has a cute little interior, copper basins instead of jet tubs and it is literally the first time in my life I've been to a non-Vietnamese nail salon. I'm so used to that experience that at first, I was little uncomfortable here. But the complimentary glass of champagne they provided helped put me at ease. They don't have a huge polish selection. I wanted a simple, bright red and couldn't find one. Someone suggested another customer was using it. All the customers were sitting, chatting away with their nail techs...not something I'm into. My nail tech was quiet the whole time, which I appreciated. It was a very gentle, pain free experience. I'm usually left injured after a pedicure so this was much more preferable. The pedicure was just alright. They scrubbed heels for free, unlike other places, but the next day my feet felt rougher than ever. My polish chipped a couple of days later too. I'm not sure how I feel about the overall experience or if I'll be back before trying some more places around Austin. read more

I went here after buying a BuyWithMe coupon for a manicure and brow wax. Since it was a $15 I didn't expect anything other than the typical nail salon. It turned out to be a lot nicer though. Other than the cute boutique appearance, the place didn't smell a thing like nail products and there were only 3 clients and 4 women working in there when I went. It was calming and relaxing, they had great colors and even a vegan nail polish line, and when I couldn't pick a color, the manicurist tried the colors on her nails. I'll go back for sure, most likely for shellac. And I saw one review about how someone didn't know how to take off shellac. When I asked her she told me that you just need to soak the cotton balls in 100% acetone and let them rest on each nail and it will come off. (Probably slowly, but surely, and for less.) read more

The good: The woman who took me to the back room was extremely social and kind as she was burning my eyebrows. Initially she didn't remove as much hair as I wanted to so she had to do it again which didn't bother me, except for the extra burn. The bad: It was visibly red for a few days after, by the 4th day my skin started to peel and by the 7th I was back to normal. She also left a loose hair and said she couldn't remove a bushel at the edge of my eyebrow. Now it's been about a year and a half since I got my eyebrows waxed (usually do it in Dallas), but I decided to try waxing em here in Austin for the first time. In the 7 years I've waxed them, I've never ever been red for longer than a handful of hours. Getting my eyebrows done here left me looking like I had ruby red eye shadow for a few days. I'm just going to have to find a different place here or go back to the same place I used in Dallas for years where all the hair I want is gone and I don't walk out looking like a drag queen who hasn't finished putting on their face. read more

This place is refreshing. The staff is very friendly and they have a very homely (or maybe warm is a kinder adjective) atmosphere. You get to sit on a comfy chair and they come to you for the mani/pedi. They offer you wine, champagne, tea and set you up to watch a chick flick if you'd like. I really enjoyed the ambiance. Great colours to choose from but I felt the pedi itself was a little subpar for the price ($35, tax inc). My feet did not feel as smooth as they usually do and the nail colour chipped within 2 days. I first went to this salon the day before leaving on a 2-week Hawaiian vacation in February. I went with a girlfriend, and we both got pedicures - I also got a Shellac manicure and she got a wax. The atmosphere was really nice and relaxing, as were the mimosas! My friend had no problems, and her technician was great. The technician who did my nail work was less than impressive. She didn't trim my cuticles (fingers or toes) and seemed to hurry through the process. I will say that the application of the shellac polish was great - it lasted almost 3 weeks. The technician did tell me that it takes 100% acetone to remove the shellac, but no information other than that (and I didn't ask any further). About a week after returning from our vacation I decided it was time for the polish to come off. My husband and I used 100% acetone, but were unsuccessful in getting it off. So I made an appointment to have my nails re-done - since it lasted so well and so long, I'm thinking I might just keep re-doing the shellac. I was (fortunately) assigned a different technician this time. Her attitude was nice, and she took time with my manicure. I also learned about the shellac removal process (involves soaking and scraping, but not too bad) and can see where our feeble attempts to wipe it off at home were unsuccessful. What really surprised me is when I checked out - I was charged an extra $10 for the shellac removal! I had seen that on their website, but (incorrectly) assumed that charge was for when you came in and only had the shellac removed, with no re-application. I've since asked a couple of my friends who get their shellac nails done at other salons, and they are not charged extra for removal, just the $35 for application, when they go in. So, I'll now be using one of their salons and 'saving' $10 each time! read more
