I don't know why this place has such low ratings. The ladies were super sweet and stayed late to finish my nails. They made sure I was very happy with the final result. The basic pedicure included a really lengthy massage, which I though was nice considering other places only do it for two minutes. My gel fill was way better than the place I had previously gone to. She fixed the shape of my nails and made sure I loved the design. They are offered me a drink and were very polite the whole time. The best part is that they are open late until 8! Wouldn't honor this gift certificate. It is expired. But really there is no reason not to honor it, what difference does it make if I use this now or later. Literally there is no difference. Seems silly not to honor it. So basically this gift certificate is NOT like cash. It's a shame bc I'm a realtor who works with LOTS of people moving to Austin every month, very short sided of this business owner. As a realtor I do things sometimes that aren't in my best interest but are in the best interest of my clients bc it's the RIGHT THING TO DO and yes, when you treat people right they send you even more business. She's the owner, she could make an exception. Why does it really matter if someone comes past the expiration date. In reality it doesn't, there is no tax ramification or any legitimate business reason. Owners make exceptions for their clients and I would have of course tipped. So I came back for an acrylic refill+gel and design. I came about 10 minutes late but the staff were super nice and still very accommodating. They offered me a drink and were super helpful. The atmosphere was super cozy and everyone was really nice. I showed pictures to Tina for references as to what I wanted because I understand it's near impossible for anything to be exactly replicated. Usually, I am just looking for something similar to the reference photos. I was extremely satisfied with the results and will come back soon. I've gotten compliments on my previous sent of nails and can't wait to show off what I just got. Will defiantly recommend this nail spa to anyone that asks. The massage portion of my pedicure was attentive and good, however I had to request additional filing due to obvious unevenness, and when it came to my french tip it was inconsistent and instantly peeled on two toes once I got in my car. I didn't go back in to have it fixed as I had been at the salon for 2.5 for a french pedicure (European style) and a hot oil manicure. Not to mention, the place became largely crowded and it was obvious there wasn't enough staff to adequately accommodate the customer demand. I have been at this salon twice. The first time everything was fine, I really liked it. The price and everything was on point. This was going to be my new go to nail salon. The first time I got acrylic filling on my toes with French design and I paid $45. However, the second time I got a full set which is 50$ they charged me $20 extra for the French design on my toes. I think $20 for a French design is ridiculous especially without telling me. I don't really understand how is there $25 difference between the two appointments. This place is not trustworthy. They will try to overcharge you. Prior to going here, we read several reviewers saying that this shop overcharged them, so when we tried out Crystal Nails, I was extra careful to be very, very clear about what services we were requesting. I stood next to Tina, the owner, and pointed to specific items on the menu, repeatedly, so that there could be no mistake about what services we were ordering. During this process, Tina kept trying to convince us to select more expensive services, which was annoying. When it was time to pay, Tina gave me a bill for more expensive services than I ordered. Because the other reviewers had warned me, I quickly noticed and pointed out that the bill was too high. Tina claimed "it must have been a miscommunication," just like they write in response to some of the other Yelp reviews, and claimed that they actually provided the more expensive services, which is false because they didn't even provide some elements of the basic service that I did order. This was not a misunderstanding. I was abundantly clear in stating what services we were ordering, and Tina dishonestly chose to charge me for a more expensive service. If you choose to go here anyway, I strongly recommend that you refuse to pay for anything that you didn't explicitly agree to. They will continue their dishonest tactics as long as people continue to reward them. I paid in full for what I ordered and not a penny more. Don't reward dishonesty. Absolutely lovely experience there! The staff was extremely nice and very attentive. I didn't feel rushed during the service. I got the European deluxe pedicure w/ shellac, which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND; includes a long hot soak, feet scrub w/ various choices to pick from, deep tissue leg massage, paraffin feet wax soak, and rubbing w/ hot stones. And the cherry on top is that ALL this was a mere $45 and $15 extra w/ shellac! Well worth the price and beyond! The visit took a little over an hour. And the COLOR CHOICES: OMG! My nails are making me feel like Lauren Bacall right now and I'm not kidding. I received the classiest dip manicure at Crystal Nails a couple of days ago and I can't stop gazing at my hands. The woman who did it was methodical and meticulous about it. (The pedicure was great too). I also think that part of my great experience was spending time with the lovely ladies who work there, and one of their young sons home for the summer who kindly changed the channel for me from time to time. The location cannot be an advantage for the business as it cannot easily be seen from North Lamar, so be sure to look them up and get there quick. read more

There are gaps around my cuticles, it looks like only part of it was done with two coats, and I left with polish on my skin. Another lady came over and examined the job my nail tech had done and said some things that didn't sound nice. My nail tech said: It's cause you are in a hurry. I don't think needing to be done in an hour (which I didn't even mention until it had gone over an hour and I said "I need to get back to work") should be considered a rushed manicure. STAY AWAY! I decided to go here because my usual shop was closed. My nails were started at 7:20p and finished at 10:34pm on Saturday WoW! Mine you only 3 people were there and they were already being serviced. I requested coffin shape,shape okay. The next day the GEL polish on my thumb started to lift and Tina told me to come by to repair. She repaired, I asked her to make sure other nails were okay because I shouldn't have to return for a re-polish and gel lasts 2 weeks. Tina advised me were ok. Trusting the great reviews, I thought I'd give this place a try. I really wanted it to be great because it's convenient for​ me. Unfortunately, it was lacking in a couple of ways. The pedi massage was great, but the polish application just so, so... a little messy when compared to all the others I've had. I could live with that, but my manicure had big problems. First off, it took the guy a very, very long time to remove my old gel. He used a nail drill, which I wasn't used to having and didn't like. I wanted to just get another gel, but the owner Tina kept insisting I do the powder dip. She kept saying powder lasts four weeks and makes your nails stronger, and I finally said okay. Long story short, the polish on two nails popped off in one piece 8 days later when I was on vacation. When I got back, I went to the salon, but Tina wasn't there. Another woman I spoke to was very nice, but would only redo those two, in a color that she couldn't match. Less than a week later, another nail lost its polish in one piece. So I went back and told Tina how disappointed I was after she pushed me into powder, which was more expensive ( total $57 for the manicure and polish). She just kept insisting that they don't fix nails more than five days later. Well, that's far shorter than the 4 weeks she promised me. I didn't want to argue with her, just won't go back. And I wanted to warn others to stay away from the dip powder at Crystal nails, and don't expect great customer service. read more

Update in response to the manager's response to my original review. I am not a very hairy person, and I trimmed the morning before coming in for my Brazilian. So to say she charged me $15 extra because of "how much hair" I had is ludicrous. She also DID NOT get all the hair. It wouldn't of been "so much work" if she waxed properly instead of haphazardly throwing wax on there. And in WHAT WORLD is the wax supposed to be hot enough to burn skin??
