This was my second time coming to this nail salon. My first visit was great -- the technician checked with me every time before putting my hand into the UV/LED lamp, was very thorough, and made sure I was happy with the design. I got a simple gel manicure on my natural nails with some floral designs and a French tip, and I left really satisfied. This time, my technician was a male tech named Thanh. He was friendly at first, offered me a complimentary drink, and even helped me choose my colors. When I showed him the design I wanted, he mentioned that it wouldn't look exactly the same since my nails were shorter, which I completely understood. However, once the service started, I felt like he was rushing through the process. When I pointed out that my right pinky nail got scratched as I was putting my hand into the UV/LED lamp, he just said, "Don't worry about it," and when I mentioned it again, he said, "It's okay, later top coat." On my right index finger, he placed four flowers all in the corners, leaving no full flower in the middle -- very different from the reference photo I showed him. I politely asked if he could adjust it, but when I requested that he re-do the nail (or at least fix one flower), he glared at me as if I was being unreasonable and said, "That's going to take me time," in a rude tone. I understand that fixing it would take extra time, but as a paying customer, I think it's fair to expect the design to look nice and to feel comfortable voicing my concerns. What made the experience worse was when another female tech came over, spoke to him in Vietnamese (which I don't understand), looked at my nails, then looked at me and shook her head as if I was the problem. That was extremely unprofessional and made me feel disrespected. I usually don't leave negative reviews, but this experience left me really disappointed -- especially after having such a great first visit. I would not waste your hard earned money here. I got a pedicure with freezing cold water after I asked the tech to please make it warmer. She just ignored me. I got a pedicure with regular polish and they escort me to go pay and they took off their flip flops very carefully to put on my actual sandals and proceeded to escort me to go pay when I got to my car. I saw that my whole toe polish was ruined. Although on their website they claim they have a guarantee of 7 to 10 days for nail satisfactory. I've been coming to Coffee N Nails since moving to Austin during the pandemic. At first, I always got my nails done by David, but he left about 1 year ago, so I decided to try out a few other places. However, all roads lead back to Coffee N Nails! I went back today for the first time in about a year and had my nails done by Binz. My nails were quite long and had an acrylic base with gel on top, and I requested that he make them shorter and remove the acrylic + gel combo, instead opting for just dip. This was recommended to me, since it is healthier for shorter nails. Very happy with the results! I was seated almost immediately after coming in. Binz expertly removed my existing manicure and shaped and shortened my nails. He was patient and kind throughout the process, answering all of my questions and making sure that I was happy with the results. Overall, really nice experience at Coffee N Nails! You can't get consistency between the nail techs. My nail is literally crooked and I asked him to fix it and he proceeded twist my arm so hard around to check them processed to pretend to fix it. She pinched my fingers really hard, when she applied to the gel X nail wrongfully, she said it was my fault. If you want to be gaslighted and not relax and totally disassociate from yourself I highly recommend you come here. Not a friendly atmosphere at all. I came in today for a classic mani/pedi. I've been getting my nails done at Coffee N Nails for almost two years. Despite plenty of instances of rude and uncomfortable service, my nails almost always came out looking fantastic. Until recently. I typically get dip with maybe a design, but recently I've been trying to improve my nail health, so I get classic shellac with just cuticles and shaping done instead. When I got my dip removed at my previous appointment, they neglected to fully remove my old dip and painted on top of it. My nails looked horrendous, but I wiped the polish off and figured I'd have it corrected and removed at my next visit. The old dip had caused unsightly lumps and chipping over the next several weeks. Today, I explained to the manager about the old dip situation. She proceeded to tell me that they never fully remove dip during a service so that was normal. Sure..?, but I still wanted mine removed. During the removal, my nail tech Cindy ignored several attempts to tell her that she only had to remove the dip from the upper half of my nail. Cindy applied the grinder all over my natural nails and gave me rings of fire, causing excruciating pain. When trimming my cuticles, Cindy made big rough cuts that left marks (photo attached). While painting my nails, a piece of dust or hair got stuck on my thumb nail. When I asked her to remove it perhaps with tweezers (I hate when dust/hair gets trapped in the top coat) she gaslit me and told me there was no hair before proceeding to smush it down into my wet nails with an acetone brush. She repeated this several times to the nail before needing to wipe it clean and start over. That could have been prevented, and with the multiple corrections she had to make with acetone, I ended up spending over 2.5 hours there for what should have been a basic service. At the end of my service, Cindy would not let me leave until my nails were dry (Coffee N Nails does not have nail dryers). But when I had had enough and decided to leave, she had already moved on to a different customer's pedicure and neglected to finish the treatment with cuticle oil, leaving my fingers dry and crusty with dried excess top coat now sealed onto my skin surrounding my nails. This is not the first time I've had a manicurist from Coffee N Nails be negligent and forget steps in the manicure process. Last year, I had the manager (I forget her name) do a dip on me during a busy period around 5pm. She rushed the entire process and made me feel like I was being a burden to her while roughly handling my nails. She forgot to cure two nails before sending me off and since they were sticky, they were ruined as soon as I left the salon. When I came back to the salon immediately to have it corrected, she was blatantly rude and told me that there was nothing wrong with the nails and I must have not been careful with them after leaving. Overall, Coffee N Nails does a terrible job with quality control across their many nail techs. It's really a gamble whether or not you get the short end of the stick once you walk in. A couple of their nails techs are amazing, like Daniel (hence +1 star), but it's never a guarantee that he'll be available. It's not worth seeing any other nail tech at that salon. read more

After getting targeted by IG to try this salon, I succumbed and went in for a gel manicure. The first thing I noticed when I arrived is how insanely crowded it was and also it smelled so strongly of nail polish and other related chemicals. I thought well, I can tough it out for an hour to get some fire nails I asked for the super popular Hailey Beiber inspired nails and got this "r u kidding me" attitude. But whatever, I don't care. What I did care about was that I wasn't made aware that 1 layer of chrome powder would be an extra 18 dollars!! Okay, I'm not stingy but really? Your gel manicure costs 38 and a simple swab of powder is another half the price of the entire manicure? No thanks, definitely not worth it. Thanh did my nails was incredible! I got a full set dip, extensions, and pointy almond shaping and designs on top. He was very careful when shaping my nails and made sure to take his time so that the nails after dipping were even and shaved down. After that, I showed him a picture of the design I wanted and he carefully did each nail making sure the lines were straight and that it was the way I liked it. And for the smiley face, another technician helped to get the thin round circle. This is my favorite set of nails I've ever gotten and have high praises for this place. The result was even better than the original picture I had in mind. In total, I spent $100 for shaping, nail extension, dip powder, and nail designs and left a $25 tip which I think is a very fair price for the quality. If I could give this business no stars I would. The absolute worst nail salon. Go at your own risk. Had to waste my time and gas to go back the day after I got my nails done here because 3 of them peeled off. I got acrylic set with gel and they didn't even apologize the next day when I came back. To be transparent they were actually very rude. These pictures are my "fixed" nails fresh out of the salon the SECOND time when they were supposed to fix them. This is not how nails should look fresh out of the salon on the same day. Multiple people were complaining while I was there because the staff forgot their appointment or I someone was saying they were rough on their nails or they went back on the price they told them prior. It seems as if their scheduling is all off and they don't inform the nail techs of their appointments While I was getting a pedicure, another nail tech started working on my nails. Soon after a swarm of students came in and he was informed he had an appointment which he didn't know of. He ended up telling her to come back later as he started on my nails already. I personally felt as if my nail tech was rushing on my nails. He did a good job on the ombré look but got sloppy when it came to putting on the rhinestones and shaping down the sns powder on my nails. It looks good in pics but when you look on the side the nail bulges up and doesn't look like your natural nail bed. After rushing me out the door I had to come back because my nails were not completely dry and it left texture on the top from what my nails touched. I would recommend if you make an appointment with a specific nail tech, be firm and stick with them. The pedicurist kept reassuring me everyone at the nail salon are good. My schedule did not allow for me to come back before I did. I also did not try "multiple other salons" but got my nails done twice in houston with my mom while spending time together- I have still never been met with the rudeness that I am currently being met with from this business owner. After having had my nails done at this salon several times, I will no longer be visiting. Although I was happy with my nails, I was met with rudeness and dishonesty and that is no way to run a business. My experience was with Binz, the owner (I believe) and manager, who I am sure will comment trying to excuse his behavior, but honestly there is no way to excuse rudeness. I wasn't rude. I am a nice person and a loyal customer and have never once been rude to anyone performing a service for me. On Saturday I went in with a design that I wanted - lips in three colors for Valentine's Day. I was quoted $110 for the nails. $60 for the hard gel base and $50 for the design that I wanted. Kind of pricey, but they do good work, so I went ahead with it. We ran out of time for my design, so I came back the next day to get my design finished (also okay, I was fine with this). They charged me for my pedicure and the $60, and half of the design since it was not yet finished ($25). The next day, Binz said something about charging extra, but I did not realize what he meant until I went to check out and he told me it would be $30 instead of $25. Yes, this is a difference of $5, but my mani pedi was a gift and I did not have that extra $5 on hand. More importantly, it is the principle of the matter. I was quoted a fixed price for my design on Saturday, and then upcharged a day later. When I very quietly and politely said I could not pay the extra $5 (1. i couldn't and 2. Even if I could have, I wouldn't have paid more than quoted when he knew what the design was going to look like in the first place), he said that they could no longer do my nails. Zero sense of appreciation for customer loyalty. LASTLY --- Instead of immediately posting this on Yelp, I sent a private message to their insta page, and was both ignored and blocked. This place used to be good, but I guess they got so busy they feel they don't have to retain loyal customers anymore. Such a shame. I went in for another full set with chrome French and within a few days the chrome chipped off completely. This was not usual. I went back for a free touch up and one of the girls said it was my fault for not putting my hand in all the way when curing under the UV light (hard eye roll). I let her say whatever she wanted just so I could get my nails fixed and this is what I came out with (see pics)..... the chrome wasn't even fully applied to cover the black base and you can see where she didn't clean up the excess chrome either. I didn't have a great experience at this salon. I went in for a chrome gel mani, and it's already coming off within a week and a half. Given the manicure was close to $90, which I was shocked at for reasons I'll explain below, it's unacceptable it's coming off within less than 2 weeks. I've never had this happen before and I've done chrome gel at least 10 times. Between the time that I went in for my initial manicure and me going in three days later to fix manicure because the technician seriously messed up the 3 tips done on my nails I had 4 different manicurists. The first time I went in my manicurist was rude. Keep in mind I have my headphones on and I'm listening to a podcast but I asked him one question about chrome coloring and he seemed frustrated and without warning just got up walked away and switched with a guy at the front. I felt so uncomfortable. The nail salon is supposed to be a relaxing experience! The second time I went in 3 days later to fix the tips that were already peeling off, and a really nice woman started doing my nails, but she started to mess up on the chrome. Once the manager saw that she switched someone in her place to finish the job correctly. Now in terms of the price of the manicure I am all for paying that amount if I am having my nails done by an expert and I'm not having to go back and get it fixed and have it come off within two weeks. However, given that's not the case it just doesn't make sense. It's overpriced. I lived in New York for over a decade, and I have only paid that amount one time for a gel manicure, and it was because it was a sought-after in demand nail artist who is well known. And that manicure lasted perfectly for 3 weeks no chip and it was a gel chrome. I wanted to really like this place, but I just can't get behind paying this much for a manicure when not all the nail technicians have the same level of experience, and it shows. I do love my nails and this isn't necessarily about the quality of the work, because I did love my tech (didn't get her name but she has a short hair). I came in with a photo of these high smile French mani nails with different glitter polish on each nail. I figure it might cost extra for the detail but they really will charge you extra for every. single. thing. You want a dip power mani? $50 You want your old polish off? Extra $5 You want length added with a tip? Extra $5 You want French mani? Extra $15! You want different colors on each hand? Extra $5 You want the glitter polish? Extra $15 $95 total?! Some of these extra are not unusual. I'm from California, have been to so many salons from SF to LA that have never gouged me like that. The absolute worst experience I've ever had at a nail salon, I'm horrified they are even in business. The nail tech made me cry, he was SO rude! I am speechless on how terrible this experience was. But this man straight up yelled/snapped at me multiple times, like when I asked him to trim one fingernail a bit. I finally got a different technician. They did not ask me if I want any drinks at all for the whole time I was there (even though the name of the place was called coffee and nails). The guy that was doing my nails was SO ROUGH on my cuticles that it was hurting me so bad. He left the job unfinished at the end in my opinion. He put the cuticles oil on me but did not offer to evenly apply it and wipe it off at the end. I left the place with powder residues and cuticles oil all over my fingers that I was having a hard time reaching my wallet to pay. I DO NOT recommend this place and will go somewhere else in the future. Update: nails started peeling off after a little over a week. This quality is not acceptable read more
