1 star for picking the perfect location to open up in Ocala. Right outside of a retirement community. For the food they serve (American), their specials (drinks & lunch), and their 'unique' decor inside and out- it was a smart move. 1 star for having BOGO drinks all day. Not ALL drinks are BOGO all day, but if it's past 7 flip to the back of the menu and there is a smaller selection that is BOGO beyond 7 pm. I LOVE that they had Château St. Michele Riesling! 1 star for their service. The waitress was very friendly. The floor manager came out to speak with us (we were with local regulars which shows their appreciation for the regulars). My favorite part of their service was (without asking) they brought our toddlers food out first. If you know, you know! 1 last star for the food. I got the chicken fingers, fries, and barbecue sauce for dipping. Super plain Jane, but the meal was good. The bbq sauce had great flavor. They provide you with rolls as a starter. I will say these could have been warmer and softer. I also got a Caesar salad and the BIGGEST downside was the salad plate was HOT. Other than that the salad was good. A con from our trip: we went into the bathroom and there were 3 employees "cleaning" the bathroom. Even marked it off as clean on their checklist in the bathroom. Had to take our toddler in afterwards and there was trash everywhere and no toilet paper. There was 1 employee left in the room so a comment was made to our toddler "we can't use this stall because there is no toilet paper". We ended up using the bathroom 1 more time before leaving and it was cleaned and restocked. I can say it was BUSY when we went; which I'm sure it's almost always busy. Zach took great care of us. Yes, it was busy, and it took a few minutes for us to be greeted. But the manager came and took our drinks, then Zach was there to take our lunch order. The salad and bread were good. Our meals were similar to what you would have at the Ale House. Did not come out super fast (busy remember), but when it did, it was hot and delicious. Listen, definitely not a 5* steak house, but super yummy and perfect for a Saturday lunch. Plus, who doesn't love 2 4 1! I enjoyed my grouper ruben and unlimited salad. V. for the United States Marine Corps Birthday. They're every November, even last year despite the terrible economy, when a few weeks before he okayed it, he wasn't sure. Whoever is preparing these meals have no business in the kitchen and most be fired. We had the worst chicken fajitas that we ever ate, most of the ingredients were missing. What we got for $15.00 was a few strips of cold chicken fried with only onion and mushrooms, no green or red pepper, 3 cold and hard small tortillas, and the ingredients to add were only lettuce, some dice tomatoes, and a scoop of sour cream. No cheese, no salsa, no pico de gallo, nothing to do with what is advertised on the menu. We did not want to complaint to the waitress and make a show in front of the exaggerated amount of people sitting in that small area (including a long table of 40 loud senior citizens) but it was the first and the last time that I go to that restaurant. First time visiting Cody's Roadhouse in Ocala, FL. We got there early for lunch. The music was really loud and sounded like two cat's mating. We had expected country or southern rock. To be fair, the restaurant was empty, so it probably seemed louder. Not the kind of music you'd expect for a Roadhouse. We ordered the calamari appetizer. It was the best calamari we had had in a very long time. We highly recommend it. Good portion size and lots of tentacles. It came with the traditional marinara and also a mustard-based sauce. Both very good. Now to the meal. We went there for the baby back ribs and "hand-cut steak fries". The ribs were okay. Arrived over-slathered with jar barbecue sauce and not hot. The fries were not hand cut, nor were they steak fries. They were some kind of processed potato wide like a steak fry. Very disappointed. The service was good. The ambiance was ruined by the odd choice for music. We might go back but will pass on the ribs next time. read more

I have always loved a Cody's Rib Eye. It had been a year since I had been there but the changes are horrible. The Rib Eye came with Steak Sauce on top! Manager says they always did. No it was on the side! No great steak comes with steak sauce on top. Not a great steak ordered Medium Rare got gray medium. Manager brought me a rare steak to replace I guess to prove her point with me. I accepted it. Also what happened to the wonderful dipping sauce for the Onion Rings? Almost purely Mustard! No longer Turmeric Sauce. I guess they are trying to save money. I will not be coming back. Here's the recipe for the old sauce. CODY'S ROADHOUSE ONION RING TURMERIC DIPPING SAUCE 8 cups raw horseradish 1/2 cup Cholula hot sauce 1 gallon mayonnaise 2 tsp salt 16 cups sour cream 4 tsp turmeric Combine all ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. I've tried this place 3 times now and the 3rd time is my last. First time was ok, I got the grilled chicken, very small portion of chicken. Second time I got the grilled salmon and the salad was wrong. 3rd time I got the salmon again but it was undercooked and the waitress noticing most of the fish uneaten said nothing and "See you again". I had a waitress that got my food wrong. I had to send it back to the kitchen. I had a waiter told me to shut up and sit down after complaining about my food that I had. The bartender made fun of me and pointed at me To her buddies in the restaurant. Then the bartender controlled the situation and had me put out of the restaurant. I could not finish my dinner and then the manager walked in behind me, so close that he could smell my hair. and I turned around to say something to the bartender for her being rude to me, and the manager put his hands up as if he were going to hit me As I was walking out the door. there have been multiple other complaints by other customers that the staff is rude. The food is terrible and at the atmosphere is dull. I spoke to the owner son and he denied everything saying that his staff was just as nice as they could be when they were not if I could get this place negative stars I would. read more

The server was nice, but I did not enjoy the food. He server got the order right. I ordered a medium-done hamburger and got a overly well-done charred (burnt) patty. They offered to redo it, which would have been another 5 minutes. We needed to get somewhere by a certain time and didn't have the minutes to spare. One of the hostesses said I wouldn't be charged for it, but I was. Again, I didn't have time to argue about the bill. The main hostess up front was not friendly all. So I've seen a lot of hit and miss reviews here for this new location so I had to leave my own. We went to Cody's about 4 o'clock on a Tuesday. There was no wait. The hostess was very accommodating in letting us select our table. Very quickly we met our amazing waitress... Amanda! She Floored us! Not only was she very kind and helpful and patient but she really knew that menu and the drinks. Her personality was a 10! We ordered chicken, steak, and ribs. All three dinners were very very good. Oh and we did get onion rings. Yum Yum! And the mustard horseradish dip really pleased. We were there for half price drinks and one of us did not really enjoy one of the drinks. The waitress was so accommodating to replace it for her with a different one that she was quite satisfied with. The service, food and lack of concern was astonishing. I had to walk to the bar twice to order us drinks, the waitress never apologized or offered a water at any point. My boyfriend and I ordered an entree each in which one entree was served completely wrong and the other was a cold french dip served about 45 min-1 hr after ordered. The managers on duty, Jessie & Alberto, that evening both came to the table apologizing, without providing any solution or comp to the drinks I placed orders for at the bar. For the amount of people, it took 10-15 minutes to order drinks, unacceptable. It took lose to an hour to get a bacon cheeseburger, which was still half bloody, an order of steak fajitas which he had to send back dye to tough meat and no Tortillas,. My niece ordered a 1/4 chicken and after a server brought a prime rib and a half slab of ribs, she got her food last. Still had to finally go find Mustard for the burger. After we complained to the manager, I got my Mac and cheese, and the chicken and fajitas were corrected. Be my last time there. I don't usually frequent national chain restaurants but this was convenient and I was dealing with hangry issues. Nice clean atmosphere with inside and outside seating. Staff was friendly and helpful. A good variety of menu offerings. We opted for the half chicken entree and the blackened boneless pork chops. Entrees come with a chopped green salad (bottomless) or soup, yeast rolls and a choice of sides. All was fresh and satisfying. There are lunch and early bird menus as well. Servings were large and would easily serve two average appetites. We both took home leftovers. Our server satisfied our every request. Prices were reasonably average. Overall it was a good dining experience and since it's nearby we'll definitely be back. p.s.- they have live entertainment as well as plenty of tv's read more

Something is up with the management... A member in our large party asked for silverware several times and got snippy. She is nearly 80 and for some reason the manager felt it necessary to yell at her, upsetting the kids in our party. Another family member went to the bar to ask for silverware and was told to he should not be there and to sit down. The mgr went to him and said he was "calling the cops." (??) We all resumed eating (we should have left but did not want to ruin the party) and when everyone was nearly finished, the Ocala police arrived. They informed us that this manager had done this approximately 15 times. The officers said they did not want to know our names, would not be filing any sort of report and seemed to find it humorous that the manager claimed we were "trespassing." The officers advised we contact the corporate office. The host of the party said he just wanted to pay the bill and leave (he did pay the bill) and another member of the party had to ask the police to move the manager from the room as he stood there with his arms crossed staring at us. The officers had to remove him. We called back later to ask who the manager was and the staff person who answered the phone refused to tell us (Online he is listed as Chris Alvarez). Seriously not sure what is wrong with this place, but obviously cannot recommend. read more

This was a ridiculous experience... there are less than 10 people waiting and we are all told 30 to 45 minute wait. This seems, according to people I know who have going, the norm. I find it interesting as I sure wouldn't wait 45 minutes for most restaurants on a week night! Of course that's my opinion! I was say within 10 minutes, I was alone. My server, who looked exhausted acknowledged me and came back a few minutes later and took my drink order. I asked for house Merlot and she advised it was 2 for one. When the wine, in little glasses came, neither were even have full, I should have asked for another glass but by the time she came to the table again, I could have drank all of it , so why would she believe me! Tables around me have quite a bit more in the glass upon serving. I ordered the 2/4 fajitas, a shrimp to eat there an a chicken to go. Also asked for peanuts (the first of several fruitless requests.). The fajitas came out quickly, 4 wraps, a good portion of shrimp, a very little serving of onions and a few peppers, certainly not enough for two, never four! The lettuce was very wet and created a pond for the tomato, sour cream and a teaspoon of cheese to float in. There was not enough of this wet mess for the amount of shrimp, which btw were well seasoned, a bit overdone but probably cooked in the hour dish after coming off the stove. During the whole time, over an hour I was there, there was a side show in a booth near me. A group ca,e in and well, you would have thought this was the owner, and maybe it was. Servers all came over for hugs, even if they had a plate of food in their hands, there was a constant audience of employees at this booth... btw their drinks were filled to the top. It was ridiculous.... My server seemed to be picking up the slack in the dining room while the throngs were paying homage to the guest booth....very strange! I waited, after the table was cleared for the to go...which was incorrect when I got it and had to be redone. When I got it home, there are no peppers in with the onions and I left the side stuff floating in the pond of water on the table. Very disappointing, read more

Absolute worst experience ever. Our server Nick was inattentive. Took 20 minutes to get water. Did not bring any rolls until reminded, after the meal was brought. My wife ordered prime rib, medium, it was raw. I didn't even bother to cut my steak. When we explained our displeasure to the manager she was defensive and didn't seem to care. I offered to pay for the mediocre salads and glasses of water, but she asked us to leave because she said I was causing a scene. I never raised my voice or jestured in any way. First of all we come to Cody's and have all over Florida for a long time. Tonight was not their best effort. The waitress Irene was great as was the salad. My wife had fried haddock which was very good, as usual. Tonight I decided to try their steak, what a mistake. The first 8 oz Filet Mignon was burned but looked like a nice piece of meat. The second steak was cooked medium, as ordered but was the fattiest piece of crap ever put in front of me by anyone. This was supposed to be their best cut, pure garbage. The manager (Phyllis) never showed or apologized but gave us a $5.00 comp. I took that more as an insult, an apology would have been better. Bottom line we'll go back but never order the steak again, ever! This place needs to train its cooks and needs better management. read more
