Went on a date night with my hubby last night and decided on Cody's Cafe. We stopped in probably 10 years ago or so but wanted to try it out as it's been revamped inside and on the menu! Andy welcomed us right away and he took our drink orders. I got the Saturn cocktail, so yummy. My husband ordered a type of beer by Oskar Blues but he wasn't a fan. I tried the BBQ pork Bao bun and it was delicious! I decided on the fish and chips for my entree and he tried the combo noodle bowl. We both really enjoyed our dishes! I had to get dessert so I opted for the salted caramel gelato, it was tasty and hit the spot on that hot day! Andy was great, so friendly and attentive. Prices aren't bad here either! The food is amazing! It's a new concept and is undergoing new ownership. We had a fabulous 6 course tasting menu. All the food was inspired by the chef and owner's Asian heritage, while giving subtle nods to how the cuisine plays within the western world and palate. The chefs and new owners are also conscious of using in season ingredients and all the dishes featured produce and herbs and microgreens grown from their own patio front garden. Having a freshly picked heirloom tomato on their lemongrass chicken and bacon slider, with black garlic aioli, was just chef's kiss! Rest assured, the 5 other dishes we tried were just as incredible. Wow, wow, wow.... Hands down one of the best accidental restaurants I've stumbled upon! I honestly didn't even look at the reviews before going and after sitting down I knew it was fate that brought my appetite there. This place is tucked in a shopping center off Iliff and Parker and met some friends for dinner after one said she wanted Italian food and suggested the spot. The ambience is cozy and inviting and the service is what makes it that much better. We chose a few apps off the menu and then asked for a recommendation for a bottle of wine to share - bonus: 1/2 price Wine Wednesdays! - and it was on point! I can't believe I forgot to take a picture but I'm sure it's a red wine that most every client has enjoyed! Since everything is made from scratch, you may wait a little longer but not to worry... the fresh homemade bread the guys bring to the table quite possibly might be the best I've ever had. It's so light and crispy with a buttery flavor that melts in your mouth and it's not what you are expecting. Paired with the oil and balsamic dipping sauce it's sooooo good! I ordered the fish and chips and the batter was perfection with a side of coleslaw that was extremely flavorful and some homemade fries. My friend ordered the salmon salad and the portion was huge and had so many fresh flavors that the combination was described as an explosion in her mouth. Can't decide if you want a pizza or pho for a dinner or maybe both? Look no further than Cody's cafe! This place doesn't impress from the outside and looks super old and outdated but it's really nice inside with a modern decor and a great vibe. We've tried spinach wontons, goat cheese crostini and bruschetta as appetizers (each $4 during a happy hour), and everything was pretty delightful! I couldn't decide between shrimp pizza and speciality salmon dish and our waitress (who was super friendly and kind, by the way) suggested salmon. It was full of flavors, great presentation and salmon was perfectly cooked inside (I Iike it medium rare) with a bit of yummy glaze on the outside. One of my friends got Pho, and another one went with eggplant rollatini, and everything looked and tasted really good. I really want to try their pizza one of these days and see for myself what's everyone is raving about. I used to LOVE THIS PLACE. Food is still good. That is IF you want it bad enough to put up with the EXTREMELY rude manager. I was not. I actually tried several times to contact owner before writing this review with no luck. I went in on April 28th day before my surgery. I wanted something really good for my last real food. I had my dog with me who is a registered service dog, I showed the card to manager. A thin rude man mid twenties. He told me it didn't matter that even service dogs weren't allowed.I tried to reason with him but he was so RUDE I left. I went back in October 16th to give another try. Same rude TOTALLY UNREASONABLE person there who said EXACTLY the same thing to me as my prior visit, I used to own a restaurant this person would be SO GONE ! I WILL NEVER SET FOOT in Cody's again nor the other restaurant they own at end of strip mall. I don't think I've EVER encountered such a rude, unreasonable person in the restaurant business! Post COVID/Dining 7.9.2021 The dining room is NOW OPEN! They also have a lovely patio option with a water feature and LOVELY FRESH flowers. It was so nice to enjoy a great meal and sit down and dine! We enjoyed the Friday busy in the restaurant with two servers running around, lots of guest chatting and enjoying their meals with loved ones. It was nice to see friends catching up, date nights, girls night wine happy hour and large parties ending the work week at Cody's. It felt great to enjoy a meal not in a take out box and enjoy some good pasta by candlelight. I enjoyed a Misto Salad, Clams Linguine and the Matcha Key Lime Pie. All a must order. There were a couple clams with a sand crunch but the noodles and ambiance of the restaurant were fantastic! The sauce was yummy!!! The linguine noodles were Aldente and perfect! I enjoyed the warm bread with the clam sauce and the fresh herbs in every bite. The two servers were outstanding and worked so hard running around a busy and FULL restaurant. Dropped by this restaurant after landing in Denver. We were definitely in for a treat. Italian food with an Asian twist. Josh the bartender/waiter was so nice and attentive. We returned to this nice place. What did we find? For starters, newly remodeled floor. Very nice, clean, cozy, very comfortable. A new menu, delicious dishes. My son asked for Italian food and immediately Cody's cafe came into my mind. We were greeted right away as soon as we stepped in. The staff, absolutely friendly and helping. Lots of smiles and the feeling that you're home. After all, this is an Italian place. No comparison to American Italian chain eateries. This is the real thing. Best Italian food and care in Denver. Period. We started with goat cheese crostini. Simply delicious. The right amount of cheese, pine nuts, and caramelized onions. The bread tasted fresh, so it must be made onsite. The chef allowed us to taste a new item not in the menu yet: special calzone in a very unique marinara sauce and fried eggplant. Exquisite. Full of flavor, a nice amount of cheese in the calzone and the combination with the eggplant and the marinara sauce is superb. You really want to try it. For my main dish, I ordered the Parmesan chicken. A generous size of chicken breast, well seasoned, the right amount of cheese, perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, but the inside moist and tender. How do they do that? Typically chefs forget that Parmesan cheese ya salty, therefore the final product is saltier than normal. But not in this case. The plate is so appetizing at sight, and when you dig in, it really delivers. You won't be disappointed. It has spaghetti over a marinara sauce as a garnish, which ties the entire dish. Fresh tomatoes that taste like a real tomato, you can really identify each ingredient, since they treat each element as they should, the end product is absolutely delectable and to die for. Once you eat it, you'll understand. To finalize the experience, what about a very nice portion of green tea cheesecake? It sounds mysterious until you try a bite. Creamy, thin crust, the green tea works with the cheese and none of the elements overpower the rest of the ingredients but actually produces a refreshing sweet creamy smile. I love this. Now that I think about it, my mouth waters. I have to call them and see if they sell it by the unit. I'll be coming back soon and try new more exciting dishes and will share with you all. One of my boys wanted Italian so instead of the traditional Olive Garden closer to my home I decided to yelp. I was hesitant since the plaza where the restaurant is located at doesn't look fancy. I thought I would regret this move. Once we walked in, I found that the place atmosphere is up to a nice bistro likes. Modern and comfortable furniture and chairs. Well, nice decor as well. Kids meal is so inexpensive but high in flavors and abundant. My rib eye fettuccine was spectacular. As I waited for the food to be brought to the table I read some reviews about the place. So my expectations were high. The flavors really pop, delicious and all ingredients work together to produce a very satisfying meal. Very generous portions. Full of flavor. Who knew a Vietnamese and Italian fusion would go so well together?! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves-- service was very pleasant and the food was so delicious! We got the soft shell crab and spinach and cheese wontons. Both were amazing and freshly cooked. The fusion of the wontons were beautiful and so different than any other wontons I've had, plus the fruit sauce accents it so well! The seafood in our entrees were very delicious and fresh. The servings were pretty large so I'll be having leftovers and I'm so excited to experience the meal again. The Vietnamese paella was insanely comforting. This pace is a hidden gem that is not all what it seems from the outside. They use vegetables and herbs for their own garden and have a great wine selection. This is such a great spot! Interestingly enough I was present about a week ago when snooty pants Jill P was there (recent 1 star review) and it's too bad that's how she chose to articulate her experience. I think we even had the same server (because it's 2020 and they aren't waiters and waitresses) and from where I was at, the server was great! She was attentive, quick, and had a warm personality. I overheard that a girl had come by earlier looking for her cat who escaped. Now maybe I'm biased (as a cat owner myself) but not only did the server listen to her story...she actually ended up spotting her cat and snagged him before he could get away in case the fur mom doubled back. Jill P might prefer a good person to be an order on "the side" considering it made her "not want to eat her food" but personally I loved what I saw. But I guess, The BACK UP From The Kitchen made things went south. aka VERY BAD - *Sad Face* - *VERY VERY SAD* @18:00hrs we received our first appetizers. During service, my friends who sat on my Right, received their Appetizers orders first, then like 30 minutes later, my friends who sat on my LEFT then received their Appetizers. Yes, I know there are OTHER Patrons beside our Party having Dinner here too.. I received my Appetizers of Mussels ($10.95) @ 18:05hrs. I like my Appetizers order which are the Mussels. Who can get it wrong right?? But it was too lukewarm for my taste bud. *SAD FACE INDEED* I wanted to return this dish back to the server, but was afraid, that I might not received it for another 30 minutes later... @18:25hrs, my friends who sat on my left then received her order of Appetizers. (Crab Cake Wrapped Sugar Cane)($8.95) @18:30hrs, I received my order of Fish and Chips($9.95) As for my Fish and Chips order, it was just "MEH" coz the fries were too COLD by the time I received it, and the Fish though fried battered, nothing stood out at all for this dish. *DOUBLE SIGH* @19:00hrs, my friend who sat on my Right, then received her Main Entrée Order (Lamb dish) following, a Chicken Dish Main Entrée. My friend who ordered the Lamb, thought it was Lamb Shank, with the bones, but when she received her order, it was just slices or pieces of Lamb meat. This dish was highlighted on the Black Board as part of the Day Specials. From my friends feedbacks they said : * The food is NOT WORTH the Wait. * TRIPLE SIGH* * For the ENTREE Portions, it was too tiny and too little for their liking. All in all, I guess this is an isolated incident. Maybe Cody's CANNOT held large party with 9 guests at one seating. Maybe if there is a LARGE Party, Cody's should provide more servers or wait-staffs, coz almost at the end of our Dinner, even though I specifically request for more water, our wait staff/server is NO WHERE to be seen. I feel bad for my friends. Coz I have friends who live all the way in Loveland, and travel down to Cody's to dine with me, were also disappointed and felt torn about the evening they had. What a find! The food, drinks, service, and atmosphere are spot on, plus the location of this restaurant makes it a real sleeper, which IMO lends an air of an insider mystique. Covid19 has me fantasizing about cocktails even more than usual, so I decided to start with their bartender's Summer Negroni, which I highly recommend! Speaking of alcohol, Cody's surprised me with a rarity I haven't come across in ages, house wine selections (there's a Chardonnay, a Cab, and a Merlot) for $6 per glass...whaat??! I'll drink to that (*clink*)! Our entrees, the Sausage Penne and the Grilled Salmon and Pesto, were both beautifully prepared and outstanding. Everything is reasonably priced too. The atmosphere is great but next time I think we'll request a table on their makeshift Pandemic Patio. When I first saw this Italian restaurant with my father, I was actually a bit skeptical, considering that it was a diner that was surrounded by a rather quiet area. Nonetheless, I stepped inside and took a seat. The first thing that astonished me about this place is the staff. They were very well mannered, polite, caring; you could almost call them family. You could tell that they really did care about their customers due to the fact that they made sure that they went above and beyond to satisfy their patrons. Nowadays, you don't see it too often, so this really made me smile. When we received our meals, everything was simply remarkable. All of the food, no matter what it was, looked pleasing to the eye. I was so tempted to not take a bite, since each dish looked like a piece of artwork. I ordered the Chicken Angel Hair plate, and I could not be more satisfied with this item. Visually, it looks simply phenomenal, seeing fresh spices and garnishes, followed by the delectable smell. The flavors worked PERFECTLY. If I were to compare this dish to another, I would compare it to that of a Margherita Pizza, due to the fresh tomato, the smell of basil, and the flavorful cheese in the pasta. Very rustic, non-commercial; it tasted like something homemade. I would certainly order this meal again. To top off the meal, we had a slice of their new Green Tea Key Lime Pie. Granted, the flavors didn't sound too good together at the moment, but as soon as I took the first bite, my theory was immediately disproved. This dessert was nothing short of brilliance, a light, yet very rich treat infused with delightful flavor. These two flavors may seem odd, but I promise you, as soon as you take your first bite, it sure won't be your last! At the end of the day, I have absolutely no regrets coming here. I would visit this place day in and out if I could. The meals that are at a very good price range, don't make you feel heavy, and that take you to a journey to a home in Italy certainly make this place worth getting a bite at! Holy sh*t. Talk about hidden gem. We ordered one of everything on the tapas menu. It was absolutely incredible.

This unassuming little restaurant packs a punch when it comes to flavor and unique dishes. A mixture of Vietnamese and Italian the menu boasts pastas with an Asian twist. The wine selection here is one of the best in the community and has weekly wine tastings and lessons with the som Schaffer. Where do I begin? The service is prompt and friendly. The server we had most recently was super helpful in making reccomendations. We started with a few different appetizers including the spinach and cheese won tons and steak tacos. The last time we went we had the goat cheese crustinis and bruschetta *oh so good!* For entrees we had an order of fish and chips, fish tacos and chicken parmesian. None of us left disappointed. The time before that we had the chicken alfredo, house burger and lemon grass sausage with penne. Every time we've been here the food is amazing. It's such a hidden gem ticked away in a Plaza in Aurora but if you're ever in the area I highly recommend checking this place out, you won't be disappointed. read more

Is it wrong to want to leave only a 4 star review because a restaurant is such a gem, a hidden treasure, our special secret, that we don't want to share it with anyone else? It is. This restaurant is amazing. It is a shining star in the suburbs of Aurora, a well-kept secret, but the people that make this restaurant spectacular deserve for everyone to hear: if you haven't been here, you're missing out. You should leave your downtown loft and drive all the way out to Iliff and S Parker rd to find out what those of us who are fortunate enough to live nearby know: this place is a gem.
