Cody pools recently finished my pool. They removed my heat pump because they failed to check if I had had enough amps in main electrical panel. I asked for the amount for the heat pump, but I also found out they pocketed $345 dollars from me because they rounded up to hole numbers. If your contract is rounded to whole numbers, then they probably rounded up. If this happens to a lot of clients, it could possibly lead a class action lawsuit, if they have been doing this to all their clients. Lori read more

I will admit at first, I was a little skeptical of using Cody pools but after my experience, I would highly recommend. My supervisor, Kevin, was always a phone call or text away and would show up on site to discuss with my builder which steps he would be taken in the process. In addition, Mike, our sales rep was fantastic with helping us select the exact pool that we wanted. All of the subs were pleasant when they were on site I also recommended Cody pools to a coworker of mine who was having issues with another pool company who I will not name. We received bids from three different pool builders and selected Cody. We are 6-8 weeks out from completion and have been very pleased with the entire process. Our PM, Ryan, has been on top of things since day one. He is onsite frequently, always communicates where we are in the project, and makes us aware of what to expect next. He has done a fantastic job coordinating the work and we rarely experience days where no work is happening. I would recommend Cody to anyone looking to build a pool. The design, quote, and build process have been a great experience and we are looking forward to summer swimming! I see a lot of reviews where people complain about logistical issues or things that fall outside a builder or manufacturer's control due to challenges related to the pandemic. They seem to think it's fine to air all their grievances in full detail (Karen status achieved). Once in a generation global pandemic and these people are mad that work or equipment was delayed? That's some first world problems right there. Get it together. Also, Fredbear S. sounds like a Kyle who needs check his (Leander) privilege. He doesn't seem to understand the basic tenants of the global logistical challenges most businesses are facing. Our project took over half a year to complete and we are about 6 months into warranty repairs that seem to be never-ending. We continue to have a disappointing experience with Cody Pools since signing our contract 1 year ago. The superintendent on our project, Trey, has been unresponsive and absent for the majority of our project. Construction crews during our pool build were messy and caused damage to our asphalt driveway. We are still picking up their trash, rebar, leftover tiles etc. Functionally, our pool has never worked properly. Our spa spillway does not clear the ledge, causing water-loss, algae and a general defunct appearance. Our expensive in-floor pool cleaning heads do not work properly AND our heater is not functional. We paid a TON of money for a pool that does not work, from a company who is apparently unconcerned with the fact that the project they "completed" is not complete. Anyone interested in this pool company, beware that they require you to make your final payment before the plaster stage - so you are paying for your product before they're even able to fill it with water and test that it works. After that, you're stuck with the warranty department who is nice, but has zero control over how/what/if the superintendent actually fixes the issues that arise. Take your money elsewhere. read more

Think twice before hiring Cody Pools to build your pool. This company is the definition of over promising and under delivering. The design process with Blake Moran went very smooth. In fact the first few steps went smoothly. Construction on our pool started late March 2021. The pool has been dug, rebar has been installed and some plumbing has been installed. No one has been to our house to look at or work on our pool since April 4th 2021. At the time of writing this, it has been 98 DAYS! It is worth noting that at the time of signing our contact we were told that it would take 60-90 days to complete the entire project. Not to mention the fence between our back yard and our neighbors back yard has been down since construction started in late March. When ever we reach out to get update on the project, we are promised that someone will be out this week. Whether it is the plumber or the electrician, someone "should be there..." Of course that doesn't happen and this process repeats week after week. I do understand that it rained quite a bit this year, but I don't think that excuses the fact that no one has been here at all IN OVER 3 MONTHS! It seems like Cody Pools got some of our money and immediately put our project on the back burner. We want our life to get back to normal and our investment to be complete. There is no worse feeling than spending a ton of money on something and feel as if you have been taken advantage of. At this point I would never recommend Cody Pools to anyone! Cody Pools just completed the pool addition to my rental property and I am in love with it. The quoted me 6-8 months and it took just over 6 months to complete. Ben was my main POC and was on top of communication & updates throughout the whole period. When certain parts were not in stock they upgrades me at additional charge and made sure everything was to my liking. The original mock up was beautiful and really exhibited my wants! We had Cody Pools build our pool last year and it all started out great but as it came near the end communication slowly declined. Inspections didn't happen when they said they would. We would always have to initiate the communication for them to come and fix things that still needed to be done and initiate for them to get inspectors to our house. It's been over 5 months since our pool was plastered (which they say a pool is completed after being plastered) and we paid in FULL before plaster. They have all our money and they just quit responding to us. 5 months later and we still don't have a final electrical inspection or a final building permit. It took us contacting BBB to even get them to start getting the finals scheduled but now our pool is broken from an ice storm and they want nothing to do with it and in a hurry to get the inspections done so they don't have to be any part of fixing our pool. We still have punch list items that they haven't tried to do anything about. They finally sent a new supervisor our to our house today and his customer service was awful, very rude. After talking to neighbors, there are a few with the same issue...never got their final permits. Do not use this company, there are other great companies that are helping their customers through this ice storm damage and who completed their inspections on time. We have wasted 5 months stressing over getting our inspections done and our permit and it's still not done. I should have looked better at reviews on BBB as I would have noticed that this is not a good company to work with. We are finding it's worth spending extra money on a lawyer so they don't continue getting away with this type of service. Cody built our pool in 2019 and there are serious construction flaws that have led to serious leaks in the pool. We're looking at $15k + repairs on a 4 yr old pool that has a 'lifetime warranty'-- however it is not a warranty at all. They do not transfer the warranty if you aren't the original owner (we purchased the house in 2021). I just called to see if they would look into repairs and was told they don't work with you unless you're the original owner. If you're looking into a pool, find a company with better construction and service standards. It will save you a great deal of money. read more

If there were a zero star for service I would leave it. In fairness, Cody has an awesome pool design person in San Antonio. His name is Randle. And he is literally the best designer for pools. He is great. Unfortunately, that is where it ends. The construction and service department make you feel like they are doing you a favor for buying a pool from them. The service department (Jacki) is extremely rude and provide awful service. They took almost 8 months to finish my pool. Then the screwed up the install. Would not recommend Cody pool because their unresponsiveness and the lack of respect for the customer's time during and after the construction process. Here is the long version ... After 14 months of construction, we finally got our pool from Cody Pools. Pros: Responsive & great customer service from sales guy! He listened to what we liked, studied our existing landscape to get a sense of our taste and designed a beautiful pool. We brought up a few concerns such as retaining wall layout may not be adequate to prevent run-off into the pool. He assured us that the construction manager will have meetings w us throughout the project. One of the meetings would be prior to installation of Sundeck and retaining wall. The construction manager would reposition the wall to address any potential run-off issue. This process made perfect sense to us. It would be better to finalize retaining wall layout while standing in the property! When the construction manager showed up to meet at the start of the project to stake out the pool in my yard, an error was found. The pool did not position in my yard as drawn due to incorrect yard dimension in the drawing. The sales guy quickly fixed the drawing. He kept in great communication w us through-out the redraw process. The excavation crew was also flawless! At this point, I could not be happier w Cody Pool. Cons: The construction process came to a complete halt 3 months after excavation started and radio silence from construction manager. Then a new constructor manager was assigned to us 3 months later. During the building process, I brought up my concern with the placement of the retaining wall. Told the construction manager that we were told a meeting would be held before Sundeck and retaining wall installation so that we could ensure that the retaining wall is placed optimally to minimize the risk of run-off into the pool. However, no meeting was held & the wall was installed as drawn. The construction mgr told me that run-off into the pool is my problem and that I would have to hire someone to install a drainage system to mitigate run-off after pool school. Fast forward to 2 weeks after pool completion, we get a rain storm over-night. I woke up w a pool of muddy water! I was horrified especially since I was hosting a party for 9 kids to celebrate the end of school in 30 hours! After running the pool pump for 36 hours and breaking down the pump completely to clean the filters, the water was clean enough where I could see the bottom of the pool. I was relieved especially since the pump would get to run 7 more hours before party starts! 8:30am on the day of the party, someone banged on my door while I was in a meeting. Then a phone call and a text from construction mgr asking me to call him. I couldn't answer the door or phone bc I was in a meeting at the time. Got off my meeting at 9am and called construction mgr back. He said that the mason was at my house ready to work on the waterfall. I looked out my window and saw the mason was already working on the waterfall - chiseling out mortar with pieces of it falling into the pool. The pool that I worked hard to clean for my daugthers' party that is only 6 hours away! I asked the construction mgr to stop the mason and to have him return the next day - after my daughter's party (I didn't want more dirt added to the pool). I apologized for the inconvenience & explained the situation to him. Told him that if he had given me a heads up, I would have told him to schedule the mason's work for after my daughter's party. He told me that he tried calling at 8:15am but I didn't answer. And if I turned the mason away now, it would be months before he could return. I was so shock w the unresponsiveness and the rudeness when Cody did response. I did not like the lack of accountability (How is run-off issue the final customer's problem?). I also did not like someone showing up at my house unannounced and when I ask them to come back on another day, I was threatened with long wait time before next return. Cody Pools design beautiful pools. Pool construction took a long time, but not entirely their fault. Rude construction mgr, saying run-offs into pool is the end customer's issue & threatening to make me wait months if I refuse to let a mason work on my waterfall unannounced. That is unacceptable! And because of this, I can't recommend Cody Pools. read more

If I could put a negative next to the one-star I would!! This has been by far the worst experience ever. Our Project Manager Dre Flores does not come to your site location to oversee the work being done. The only time he stops by is when we need to address issues. His supervisor Scott Smith also the same. All we have been asking is for better workmanship than what the company is subcontracting. I know we are living in crazy times but customer service should never be compromised and they are seriously lacking in that department. I do not recommend this company not unless you have a better team building your dream pool Note: We started excavating in December and the pool is not 100% complete. Look at these awful reviews why would anyone in their right mind use this company? Less than a year after having our new pool installed two of our stone stools that were inside of the pool came off. It took about two months of calling them to finally have them begrudgingly come out to fix the issue. The Stone stools manage to come off once again. This time we called Peter The district manager and he basically told us we were out of luck because we were out of warranty and it's not a design issue and to go out and find a mason who will do the job. Cody built our 38' pool in 2007, and never corrected basic structural issues. Despite multiple commits and escalating the issue up their management chain, they would either lie to me and just never show up as promised, or show up and not follow through. Despite knowing the issues early on when the pool was under full warranty they would use the excuse that the pool was now only warranted against leaks. I would warn them that our pool was a living advertisement for them to no avail, so this is what they get. Cracked concrete pool deck, cracked steps, cracked and detached tile, crumbling masonry exposing rebar where pool meets deck, cracked and mottled fascia. Contacted Cody Pools the second week of July 2021 regarding building a pool and outdoor area at my home. It took over 2 months to get someone to come to my home to give me a bid. Matt showed up and we discussed what I would like to do. He told me he was behind in work, at which point we had a lengthy discussion and I said I completely understood and was in no rush, but expected communication. Matt said he would get back to me in 3 weeks. It has now been over 6 and he has not answered one email. Very poor customer service. read more

We signed a contract with them 10 months ago, they were supposed to have the pool ready in January. It's June and the pool is not even ready. They don't even come everyday, they come at 4-5 pm and stay for less than an hour. Brian is not responsive too, he made a promise that the pool would be done in May but that promise was not kept. Do not waste your time with this company, you will be disappointed. From what I am seeing, I have a feeling my pool will not be ready until August which means a year after the contract. You get what you pay for. They provided a design that we directed, had some decent materials, dug a hole and put in a pool. Design to jumping in was 9mos. our project lead, Ryan, was available and communicative. Construction had its stop/starts. Inspections dragged on months after completion due to everyone else except Cody Pools, but actually was Cody Pools. You get what you pay for. Volume builder, lower cost, okay value. Now after a year we are seeing some sooner than expected wear and tear with zero desire to honor their craftsmanship. Out of warranty by a couple days, tough. Broke ground over a year ago. Still not done!. Beware of the zero hold-back. Cody does not finish their work. I objected to this at the time of contracting our design, but shame on me--I relented. Construction was relatively smooth up to the point when I wrote the last check in January, 10 months ago. Since then it's been a miserable experience. There were 12 items on our punch list, all agreed to in February, but even with repeated calls we got no follow-up until I threatened to post a review like this in May. They did some of the work, but we still have not passed electrical inspection with the city. I can't get a call back from our Construction Superintendent without escalating to his boss. Then I get promises to finish that are not followed up. I am exhausted, hence this review. Maybe it will get their attention. If not, I hope you won't repeat my mistake. One last piece of advice: Don't fall for the advertising. There are plenty of qualified pool builders out there. Find one that will write a contract that ensures mutual interest in building the pool to your specs and finishing the work. All of Cody's advertising bluster of being the #1 pool builder references ratings from organizations to which they pay for membership. These ratings have no support from customer inputs. I had Cody Pools build my pool four years ago. I was initially happy because they were fairly efficient in building the pool but I found out recently that plumbing was not done to code (it's missing backflow prevention which is important for making sure the water doesn't get contaminated) and after four years the coping is completely falling apart and there is a crack on the concrete deck (see photos). When I called them, they just said it's out of warranty and wouldn't help with anything. I would really take my business elsewhere. read more

After having a great design experience (other than losing a month due to them not checking the box that there were protected trees on the property), the build process took longer than expected. Once built, there were a lot of problems outside of the core pool build bad stone work, unfinished work, unexpected fence and yard damage, etc. We were lucky to open the pool on March 12, the day before Austin went into Covid lockdown. Now more than 5 months later, the work has still not been completed. Their support staff is awesome, but the actual workers and supervisor are not. I have had more than a dozen emails reminding them that they left signs here, the permits aren't complete, there is wood around the concrete pad they poured, a valve is not labeled, one skimmer falls out all the time, the jets pop out, a stone chip still needs repairing, etc. Each time, they blame another group and it's still not completed. They also recommended I work with a specific pool company for service, which sounds great except that they aren't really close to them. The service tech put the DE in the wrong skimmer and they blamed each other (unlabeled valve, but he should have known, etc) and then the DE was doubled up on with no explanation. And that third party charges 80% more than the company I went with for service. Also they don't provide one contract with all equipment and pricing. If you make any changes along the way (very common), they just keep making change orders. So you have one big document (the original) with say 20 items. Then you have an amendment which removes 5 items and adds 8 more. Do that 3 or 4 times and then you wonder - what did I buy? A couple of other points about the design. I said I wanted to hear the sound of running water. So I was quoted for a $4000 wall on one side with "scuppers". Instead I went with a $1200 option for two high points with scuppers that pour water. However, once the pool was complete, I learned that I would have the sound of running water without those! The water pours over the side of the spa. And, you can only have the scuppers on if the spa is off. And you can only have the bubbler (which I added to the splash area) when it's in cleaning mode. There are so many little gotchas. And they didn't put in an electric valve for the bubbler, so to turn it on, I have to walk to the back side of the garage, turn a valve to a specific position (not quite halfway, but it depends based on the water level that day) and then walk back to the pool. They are coming out to fix this and charging $175 for the part but not charging for labor, which is great (thank you warranty department). I love the pool itself, but you need to realize that costs often go way up. I had a $40k number in mind and wound up spending $85k. I chose to add a spa, make the pool longer, and add a splash pad. I upgraded the lights to LED and added a bubbler. I got the nicer pebble finish. So it adds up - be prepared! read more

I spoke with many different pool companies before choosing Cody. There were two other companies that came out to my house, talked about design and never called me back after. I worked with Steve on the sales side and he was great. We went through several design phases, a redesign due to the City of Austin right-of-way and he was great through it all. We absolutely love the design. Severo was our project manager and was on top of every aspect of the construction. They accommodated changes along the way and were very helpful with permitting. We had a great experience overall from design to water in! We started the process in the summer of 2020 and were prepared for the slower pace with the pandemic and so many pools being built but all in all everyone we worked with worked hard to ensure our project stayed on track. There were no surprises and our Construction Manager, Brian, was great at keeping us in the loop on what was happening every step of the way. We love our pool! It's gorgeous. We worked with Karl in the sales office (off the 360hwy office in Austin) and then Ryan as our on-site contractor supervisor. Both were pretty great. Karl was so patient with our lack of focus on what we wanted, and used his knowledge having done this for many years to gently guide us in the right direction. Then Ryan was so efficient and friendly. We felt like he was really on our side to make everything come together in a timely and safe way. He went the extra mile and got us swimming much faster than we were expecting. We priced out several options before choosing them, and they were the best. Also the most responsive.
