My family had been trying to build a pool for a couple of years. We had a budget for the pool and struggled to get it to the number we wanted. After getting bids Cody Pools was $5k higher than the other builders we considered but we ultimately decided to use Cody because of their company size, history, warranties and perceived value. The start of our build went fast. It was ahead of schedule and we were optimistic. Our major complaint however started because of the damage done to our sprinkler system. I asked specifically at the start of the project if I needed to have a irrigation crew cap our system. I was told no. I was told no one ever does that and it's unnecessary. Because we didn't have our system capped we had to buy manual sprinklers to keep the grass alive in the front (irritating but manageable). We had 3 irrigation companies come out to give us bids after the construction was completed and they all asked me why didn't we cap our system before construction started. Two companies specifically said Cody pools is the worst about tearing up yards. "They totally destroy your site", is what they said. Knowing now they have that reputation, I would have taken the time and spent the money on the front end to prepare for the damage. Since we didn't cap the system landscapers had no idea where the heads were because there was so much air in the lines that there wasn't enough pressure to raise the heads. So, the front system was basically destroyed. Not only did I need to redo a large the front sprinklers, part of my neighbors sprinklers but I had to cap all the lines unnecessarily because they put the pool equipment over main lines that connected the front zones with the back. It became cheaper to install a whole new system than trying to salvage the lines that did work. The communication and visibility of the Cody superintendent was awful. They hired sub contractors that had little or no supervision. I didn't see much if any quality control from Cody Pools. Trash and left over materials ended up on site. Trades also destroyed our front yard and didn't make much of an effort to repair their damage. There seemed to be a total disregard for the area where they were working and I think a lot of that could have been mitigated with more superintendent supervision. During the time the concrete crew was adding rebar to the deck extension one of the guys stood at the side of the pool and urinated in our pool! My wife was home and happened to walk by and witnessed him do it. As if it were ok, no one cared to apologize or respond in a way that would have been appreciated. They threw trash and treated our pool like a huge toilet. I'm still in shock! After overpaying for the pool, having mistakes, poor quality and not even signing off on our pool I would not recommend Cody Pools. They are simply not as good as other pool builders. The only benefit of Cody is that they won't go out of business. That's little comfort. Our sales guy Zach Johnson told us everything that we wanted to hear to get the sale. I would not trust this company. They care less about your happiness and their reputation. Do your research and choose someone other that Cody Pools! read more

Cody Pools does not even deserve one star! As a family we had made the decision to build a pool. We interviewed several companies. Cody was the first. Our sales rep was impersonal, snobby and tried to sell us on items that we had no interest in; however, this was the type of personality that I had expected to deal with when making a large purchase such as a pool. He tried to make us believe that we would not be able to achieve our desired pool within our budget. Instead of listening to our design ideas, he completely deviated to a design most suitable to their build needs and profit margin. It was clear to me that they wanted to do as little work as possible at the highest possible price. Cody Pools did not take any of our ideas into account and was approximately $10,000-15,000 more than all other local pool companies, and their customer service is by far the worst. Apparently if you read all of their reviews on yelp, (Cody Pools and Spas, Cody Pools and Spas Inc.) not only is their customer service horrible, but their pool quality seems to be terrible as well. We decided to go with Blue Haven pools. The customer service provided was second to none. They created a design identical to what we wanted and actually stayed under our budget. They didn't try to cut any corners and convince me that it was a better choice; instead, they listened and delivered. This was our 1st time to build a pool and now seeing what it takes and the numerous amount of trades and city checkpoints that must be juggled and met, there is no other company we would have chosen to build our pool other than Cody Pools. There is a reason they are considered the #1 pool builder. We worked with Michael L. on the design. He was extremely detailed and accommodating to all of our questions and design changes. Between dealing with the city of Austin and the HOA we had some uphill battles all of which were taken care of by Michael and Cody even before they dug the 1st whole. We were extremely blessed to get Tom N. as our site project manager. We had a very rainy season and he did everything he could to keep the project moving forward at all times. He kept us updated during the entire process and was always available if we had any concerns or questions. I work from home and was able to be here for all stages of the build and I can tell you...you want someone with the knowledge and years of experience like Tom and Cody pools managing the trades, handling neighbor concerns and jumping through the city hoops. For the items we have had to engage warranty with our experience has been that they are very responsive and quick to have someone come out and address. We love our Cody pool and have spent more time outside this summer with the kids than we have in the last 10 years. read more

We're ahead of schedule and can't wait to get in our pool! We've been so pleased thus far with our experience with Cody Pools. We ultimately chose Cody Pools over three competitors because they provide the whole package (i.e. 3D designs, competitive pricing, realistic timelines, follow through, etc) As first time pool owners, we were relieved to get to work with experienced designer, Travis, who could take the vague idea of a "sophisticated yet family-friendly pool" from a conversation to 3D renderings to real life. He was very responsive and quick to make corrections/clarifications when needed. Currently, we're in the building phase with Ryan, and thankfully he appreciates a good GIF and meme. He communicates with us well in advance, keeping us in the loop as we approach each phase. We appreciate how meticulous he is in making sure each and every little thing is right and that this is a good experience for us. Special shout out to the guy who actually dug the hole. This guy was out in the literal freezing rain in a snow suit just digging away, listening to bachata music with a smile on his face! Kid you not, that hole was dug in under three days! Cody Pools was the best choice ever! Peter Batterton, an Austin area sales manager with Cody, created a masterpiece. Six months after buying our "dream home", a home that desperately needed a pool, we started our search for the right pool contractor. Wow...what a shock. I don't exaggerate when I tell you that five different pool contractors looked at the difficult location where we wanted the pool, promised drawings and bids, and then...nothing....seriously...nothing. No call backs, multiple cancelled appointments...it was nuts. No one wanted to build our pool! I finally got one bid from a company that was $40,000 more than Cody's bid. We went with Cody Pools and Peter Batterton, whose construction superintendent, Tom Nauman, was beyond extraordinary! Three months after they broke ground we were swimming in a work of art that demands praise from all who see it. Peter, Tom and Cody Pools built a dream pool for us. We could not have been happier. Despite numerous design changes as the project progressed, the final cost was exactly the amount that was bid...they didn't add a dime! They built a trophy pool, on budget and on time! We had our pool put in October 2016 so it's been about a year and a half & it looks horrible. We wanted a sleek modern pool & I am part at fault too for choosing Cody Pools but it looks funky and old. They ended up talking us into using limestone around the whole pool which was the worst mistake ever. After a month it started getting discolored, some turning green some black some orange. We have to power wash it every couple weeks and pieces chip off every time. Now the power washing doesn't even work, it's permanently funky. The hot tub is leaking through the side so that chunk of limestone is totally discolored. So long story short we're hiring another pool company to redo the whole pool surrounding which isn't gonna be cheap. They don't ask you where you want you equipment so they just stuck it right at our backdoor where there's no way of hiding it & its on display. Not a pretty sight. So sad that when we go out to enjoy our pool or hot tub all we see are all the things that should've been done differently. We know now that we should've gone with a different company that knew more about design & which materials work best & last. read more

We built a new home last summer. We wanted to make a swimming pool and therefore, contacted Cody Pool. There we met Ryan Church, who became our contract/sales manager. He did an excellent job to make sure that Cody Pools meet our expectation and we are fully satisfied. He is a soft spoken person and have lot of patience. He was not only involved in the contracting phase, but also during construction and post construction phases to make sure that our expectations are met. He was and still he is available to answer any questions and to help as needed. We requested him to see if the pool can be made before fall so that kids can enjoy the pool. Typically it takes 6 to 8 weeks to build a pool. But, Ryan and Trey Penton (Construction Manager) did an awesome job in making the pool in 4 weeks! Trey was very efficient during the construction process. Only suggestion I have for Cody Pools is to have a post construction meeting with the customer to make sure that everything is taken care of. read more

We chose Cody Pools based on people, experience and a firm price. We were very lucky to have two of Cody Pools top talent to work with. Blake Moran and Jason Harlor are first and foremost gentlemen and a delight to work with. They both were available to us at anytime for any questions or concerns we had. We were very specific on what we wanted and probably not the easiest to work with at times. Blake designed a gorgeous pool and Jason built it beautifully. The design staff listened to our desires, tailored plans that fit our goals, delivered animated computer simulation drawings before completing a contract, and featured great material options (tiles, stones, lights, equipment, deck surface, etc). We viewed and selected materials after visiting both the Western Travis County and North Austin locations of Cody Pools. The staff were courteous and professional. Cody Pools remolded our pool a few years back and we have thoroughly enjoyed the end results in terms of design and quality. Cody Pools has started servicing our pool on a weekly basis since January and has done a tremendous job with the overall appearance and equipment operation related to our pool. My wife and I are also fortunate to have had Kage McMahon assigned as our technician. Kage respectively takes the time to inform you of his time of arrival prior to showing up in our backyard. After meeting with Blake Moran, the pool designer, we came up with an amazing design to compliment our backyard. It took 11 design changes before we achieved our goal, and couldn't be happier with the result. The entire process went very smooth. Tom Nauman, the construction site supervisor, was either at the site every day, or available via text within the hour. Tom would send daily updates with the ongoing construction process and alert us if there were any expected delays.
