    Combo Lo Mein
    Courtney C.

My family and I have been on a quest to find great dim sum in Ohio after experiencing the deliciousness that is DTF in California, and we were so happy with our dinner at Coco Cuisine last night. Everything was phenomenal and we can't wait to go back. We had the combo lo mein and sooo many items from the dim sum menu. Our server was kind and very helpful when we asked for recommendations. She was also great when our plans changed right after we ordered food to eat in and then changed it to a to go order. The lo mein was the best we've ever had, the soup dumplings were very good, and we loved the shrimp and leek dumplings and black truffle sui mai. The restaurant was very modern, clean, and busy, especially at 9:30 on a Saturday night. We'll definitely visit every time we're in Columbus!

Went for dimsum this evening. Place is nice, service is fast, and the food tastes good. However it's definitely on the pricier side. A lot of the dimsum sets are basically 3 dumplings for basically 7$. Which is honestly kind of inflated to me.. Also keep in mind that they automatically charge a 15% gratuity.

What a nice surprise. The food is so good. Everything was delicious and fresh. Loved the dim sum option that's available all day. Great way to start as appetizers. The restaurant is clean and nicely lit with round tables, great for sharing and conversation. The egg tarts, ribs with sour cabbage and lamb stews were outstanding.

I met Gwen and Marlena for lunch during the week, and there were several tables of customers. There are different menus, plus a list of lunch specials. I chose the Sesame Shrimp with fried rice. They do not serve wine by the glass, so Marlena & I shared a bottle of Riesling for $20. Service was good. I would like to return.

Let's start with my life-long obsession with Dim Sum. It's been a love affair. Not THAT kind of affair - my wife knows all about it, there's no sneaking around behind her back, and I drag her to every decent Dim Sum restaurant I can find (she's not a big fan, but she loves me, so she tolerates my Dim Sum obsession - once in a while). I've eaten Dim Sum in every Chinatown I've ever been to. Driven hours out of the way. The best have been - not surprisingly - in San Francisco and Vancouver BC. But I've also eaten Dim Sum in Seattle, Toronto, New York City, Oakland, and many, many other places. Well... Coco Cuisine is damn good. Very authentic. Highly recommended. We walked in on a Tuesday evening, and almost all other tables were filled with large groups of ethnic Chinese diners - talking, laughing, enjoying the food and the restaurant. We were definitely in the minority, which was - of course - a great sign. The place is lovely - nicely decorated, somewhat upscale - if I hadn't been seated looking out onto the parking lot toward a Wendy's on Bethel Road, I could have easily imagined myself in a good Dim Sum restaurant in San Francisco's Chinatown. The service was friendly, polite and attentive. The food - oh, the food... was very, very good Dim Sum. Side story - many years ago, I backpacked across Greece for several weeks with a dear friend (I miss you, Jim... rest in peace). We ate our way across Greece eating mostly at small, local, family-owned Taverna's. The food at most places was mostly the same traditional Greek fare, so we made up a game of judging every Taverna's food on the quality of their yogurt, and the quality of their feta (usually both are homemade in a small family-operated taverna). Yogurt and feta are staples of Greek food, and a matter of pride for most taverna owners. So this turned out to be a fantastic gauge of each restaurant's food quality. Well, decades later I still use the same rule for Dim Sum - I judge every Dim Sum restaurant's food based on their Siu Mai (steamed dumplings made with big pieces of shrimp and pork). I love them. I obsess about them. If the Siu Mai is good enough, I can eat an entire meal of nothing but Siu Mai and be very happy. Well, Coco Cuisine's Siu Mai are big, fantastic, meaty, and a bargain at 4 for $6.95. One order of 4 dumplings would fill up most normal humans. I'd eat 2 orders (8 dumplings), out of gluttony and my love of great Siu Mai. These might be - probably are - yea, I'm pretty sure - the BEST SIU MAI I'VE EVER EATEN, and I've likely eaten thousands over the years. The best. And Coco Cuisine is only 3 miles from my house. Their attached sister restaurant is Coco Hot Pot, so some in your party can have hot pot if they don't love dim sum. And they also have a FULL menu of traditional Chinese dishes - so there's a huge variety for everyone, as long as they like Chinese food. And a full bar. OMG, I'm in trouble - I'll be eating here once a week. My wife really liked Coco Cuisine too (which is a miracle, because she's only so-so on Chinese food), but I don't think she'll agree to this being in our rotation every 7 days for the rest of my life. Go. Just go. You'll thank me. This is a wonderful, authentic, delicious ethnic cuisine experience. We now have a legit Chinatown-worthy Dim Sum restaurant in Columbus. Finally! I've been desperately searching for one in Columbus for 35+ years, and we finally have one. When you go, say "hi" to me... There's a 50/50 chance I'll be there with my beautiful wife, or 50/50 I'll be the guy in the corner, dining alone, with 3 full orders of Siu Mai in front of me and a silly-ass grin on my face... :-) So, so good. Very, very, very highly recommended.

Okay, I am a stickler for dim sum. This place was decent but it's not my first choice. That would be Ty Ginger Asian bistro in Dublin. Perks about this place is you can make your own sauces. The shrimp roll was underwhelming. Best dish was the eggplant. Service was chill. And I like the inside of Ty ginger better. Overall, we tried it. But not necessarily are going to be coming back for more.

Food is great. The sizes are large. My favorites are the steamed pork bun and the pan fried pork bun. The siumai and sesame balls could be better. The ambiance is great. Glad that during our visits it's not overflowing with people. Been there twice and on our recent visit our server was very nice and very helpful. She ensured our visit was very comfortable. The only thing is it can be quite expensive. We still have to try their hotpot

Holy cow, Mark K. was right, this place is soooo good! Met Yelp friends Anna and Marlena for lunch. The space is nicely organized with hotpot tables in one big space; walk through to the other large space, and it's regular tables and chairs (presumably for guests who want plated entrees or off their dim sum menu). The hostess sat us at a hotpot table because we didn't know which we wanted, or both. Our waitress was nice and helpful in explaining the menus. Their menu is pretty full. Their paper dim sum menu is nicely categorized and everything has a picture to accompany; anything they're out of/not serving is noted. I went straight to their dim sum menu and ordered a few different things. NOTE: Prices are based on size; the corresponding amount is labeled at the top and range from $4.95 (S) to $15.95 (SP). I ordered: - Shrimp & Chive Dumplings (L) - $6.95 - Pan Fired Pork & Shrimp Bun (L) - $6.95 - Pan Fried Shrimp & Leeks Dumpling (L) - $6.95 - Crispy Stuffed Taro (M) - $5.95 - Egg Custard Bun (M) - $5.95 I tried at least one of each before boxing up for to-go, and they were all INCREDIBLY GOOD!! Seriously, all were brought out freshly cooked and hot. So much flavor! Not one was below par of the others. Shrimp & Chive dumplings came out first, and I'm glad I tackled those first, as the rice paper wrapping was nicely palatable when steaming hot. The Crispy Studfed Taro was a new one for me. Nice and cripy, yet very easy to bite into. I forgot to ask what the soft mashed consistency was that was holding the protein contents together, but in any case, just as highly recommended as the other dim sum dishes. And major shoutout for their Egg Custard Bun! The custard was very smooth (not gritty like other places I've tried), the bun casing was soft and a smidge hint of sweetness, held together perfectly. Every one of my individual dim sum items I tried held together perfectly. The leftovers also held together nicely for dinner. Huge thumbs up for kitchen staff's technical nohow and showmanship! Anna loved her luncn-portion Seaame Chicken; same for Marlena's seafood medley. This spot far surpasses my Ty Ginger Asian Bistro experience. A new #1 for Dim Sum. I will definitely, 100% for-sure be back!

Sorry for the messy plate pix. My first visit to Coco Cuisine off Bethel, an expansion of the existing Coco HotPot. The dim sum was pretty amazing. I was shocked by the generous sizes of the dumplings (giant, yikes!) and overall quality, plus the portioning overall was eye widening. More "family style" quantities than I've gotten from Coco Hotpot (takeaway) in the past. We ordered about a dozen plates, including two entrees of House Chow Fun and Garlic Water Spinach and a big bowl of seafood congee. The only one I didn't care for were the sweet coconut meat piggy buns. But all the others especially the shrimp Cheung Fun, Har Gow, Chiu Chow, and Fried Stuffed Taro were off the hook. Service was friendly and amazing. They are out to impress. Food was out lightning fast, a little staggering wouldn't have helped cuz it was a little overwhelming. Our server mentioned at least 3x that they serve dim sum to order all day all week. And have large tables for celebrating. Not sure if word has fully gotten out yet? Wasn't hugely crowded. It was a Monday holiday though. Definitely can add up price-wise. With the added 15% tip + 5% extra we dropped about $170 for 3 of us. With that said, the prices were reasonable and we went home carrying two shopping bags full of leftovers. We didn't even touch the Chow Fun. It's scary this is just down the street from me lol For cowtown, this is beyond acceptable. I'll give it a go try it out 4/5 dumpling recommend

It's only me and my hubby ... but the tip is included on the receipt already... prices are high ..

When I walked in the atmosphere was great, I could smell good food and heard conversations. There's a large area with large round tables to right and to the left are booths and almost all of them were full. The menu was a mix of Americanized Chinese, traditional Chinese and included Dim Sum as well. There were a number of dishes we didn't know much about and there were dishes being enjoyed by other customers that looked delicious. The wait staff was more than happy to explain the dishes and/or show us on the menu what someone was eating. They took very good care of us and shared the tasks of bringing our food, filling water, and just checking in. Now the food. The food came out very quickly! We all received a well filled bowl of rice. First out was the string beans, perfectly cooked, not droopy, and the flavors of garlic and hot peppers. Even though the peppers were there the heat was not overpowering at all. Next was the shredded pork with garlic sauce. The textures of the pork and bamboo shoots were a nice contrast and the sauce was perfectly balanced and craveable. The special grilled lamb, I was told, was some of the best in the city. It was tender and well spiced. Even when he said he was full he just couldn't stop eating it. For the dim sum order we got the shrimp dumplings, soup dumplings, scallion pancake, and sesame balls and they brought a soy sauce and a chili oil with them. The shrimp dumplings were tender but the dough was pretty sticky. I think this is normal and they were tasty with some of the oil on them. The scallion pancakes were very thin and gummy, this is the only thing we ordered that I would not get again. The soup dumplings were very small but packed a lot of flavor. The dough did stick together a bit so unfortunately some of the soup did leak out. The sesame balls were the hit and we're just the right amount of sweetness that we considered them desert. They were large, at least 2" in size, with a wonderful sesame seed covered exterior and a soft, sweet center. Chuan Jiang Hao Zi is a wonderful somewhat hidden gem. If you want traditional Chinese cuisine including all the different offal they have it and I would totally try it here over anyone else if I was brave enough. Portions were a good size for the price. I highly recommend checking them out!

It was not crowded when we arrived around 2 pm, but apparently they just recovered from a huge opening rush that had people waiting to be seated. On one side of the restaurant there's hot pot tables (burner in the middle for your broth), and the other side is regular wooden table for people that want regular dishes and/or dim sum only. We got seated right away at a hot pot table because we wanted to get stuff from both menus. There daily dim sum offering is on a separate paper menu that you mark down how many servings you want of whatever tickles your fancy. Our server Kwan was fantastic! This was my parents first time for hot pot, and he did a great job explaining the process, what the sauce bar was all about, and how to order from their dim sum menu. We picked their mushroom broth, which I liked. For protein, we got the Supreme Beef & Lamb Combo for hot pot. Meats were displayed on a separate board (beef on one end, lamb opposite). Loved the assortment of veggies that come along; also liked that those veggies are served separately from the meat so it makes it easier to pick and choose what you want to eat. It was a super fun experience. I've done hot pot one other time many years ago, and I would make the same one suggestion for here, too: Wish there were dividers given to put in the broth to make it easier to ascertain which items are yours after dropping them in the liquid; it's hard to keep an eye on your very-thin beef shaves because it sinks before floating and easily gets pushed and mixed around. The dim sum was absolutely delicious! I got a few of the same things I got on my last (1st) visit, and shared a few new dishes. Their Black Truffle Siu Mai were excellent! Fantastic mushroom flavor, and each were big and filling. I highly recommend those, mmmm. Also loved the Crispy Minced Pork Dumplings! A thin fried outside around a bao-like wrapping, with minced pork and I think Kwan said mushrooms. I think Coco's is a new favorite. Their menus are full with a lot of flavors and dishes to pick from. Their prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. There's plenty of free parking, and in my experiences, staff are friendly helpful and efficient. I'll definitely be returning to try more!

Probably helped in no small part by the lack of those dimsum trolley/carts that are pushed into your face as you're trying to enjoy what's on your table. If I had to pick just one, the Hung Sai Gow would be the star of the meal. The shrimp and cilantro filling were densely packed like a meatball; it was both hearty and bursting with flavours! We purchased another serving to go and it was a purchase well made. The turnip cakes is always one of our evergreens and this did not disappoint at all! The egg tarts were the least photogenic of the lot, looking pale and under-baked, but thankfully it tasted better than it looked. It was nothing to write home about, however with nothing to complain about either. The oddity, if we may so, for us was the sponge cake. We were curious and decided to try that on a lark. It was mildly sweet, very very bouncy and airy, and felt it must have been steamed instead of baked. We took it home and had it with our afternoon chai/milk-tea. It was delish. Actually we purchased one more to go so we were "blij ei" as the dutch would say! And oh, the mango pomelo shake was really good and I would highly recommend it (if you enjoy mangoes). The service was prompt and friendly, and the ambiance was calm and relaxing. I would definitely go back!
