They were very filling and seasoned well. But, the highlight was definitely the fried oyster mushroom burger. It was so good and tasty. Could've fooled me on it not being meat. I also tried the vegan Mac & cheese that I did not personally care for. I met the owners which were lovely! The owner explained to me how she is a Cancer survivor and that is the main reason as to why she went Vegan. She offers cold food in containers to go for purchase. Which I had the Mac & cheese. She also explained to me how they don't offer to warm up the food in the containers because she doesn't want the plastic contaminating the food. I also love that they are a family owned black business.

There were so many dishes I wanted to try, but I only have so much stomach real estate. I settled on the quiche and lions mane cakes. I loved the quiche, but the lion's mane cakes fell flat. They had a spice that I just didn't care for, though the texture was great. I did wish that the food I ordered was a little bit hotter. It came out warm, but not piping hot. I have lived in BR for 6 years now. Many departments at LSU take guests there and in that time, Building 5 has done nothing to improve its parking lot. The restaurant sits underneath an overpass and the parking is pothole marked unpaved gravel. This means that there is no room for wheelchairs or accommodations for anyone who is differently-abled to get into the restaurant. The whole restaurant makes no room for handicapped persons. On the occasion I did get food, the food is slightly overpriced. All meats were cooked adequately but the food was lukewarm probably owing to sitting in the kitchen under the heat lamp than being delivered promptly. When I have gone, I regularly have to ask for refills on soda as I am the designated driver often for department functions. Servers pay you no heed if you do not buy alcohol. Because I go here because of academic reasons, I would barely go here myself. I've been here many times and found it wanting. It's an ableist place in its infrastructure. It's fine I'm atmosphere as a cocktail bar but would little recommend it to people I call friend.

However, they also have some quality seafood as well as Cajun specialties (including a good gumbo). There are regular specials, and the "Soup of the Moment" is also worth trying. I'm pretty sure the baristas remember my order better than I do. Here's what makes Reve worth the visit: - The coffee is legitimately phenomenal. They're all about quality over quantity, using science-based brewing and traditional standards to craft coffee that actually tastes like they care. Because they do. If instant gratification is your thing, Starbucks is down the street. If you want good coffee, you're in the right place. - The baristas actually know their stuff. They'll help you find exactly what you're looking for without making you feel clueless. Fair warning though: this is their coffee shop, and they're respectfully enthusiastic about doing things right. Treat them like the humans they are, and you'll have a genuinely great interaction. - The vibe hits different. It's cozy and intimate inside (compact in the best way), but if the weather's nice, the patio is where it's at--plenty of space, zero stress. Work, study, hang out with friends--it all just works here. If you care about good coffee, good people, and a space that actually feels like somewhere you'd want to be, Reve Coffee Lab is your spot.
