Service: The service is top tier. Everyone was nice and friendly, incredibly accommodating and attentive. The waiter did know about gluten intolerances and was able to guide me. Food: okay. So if you have a gluten intolerance, you have to be open minded here. The menu, while fantastic, is a bit limited overall/for all diets. I got the half cocha salad and the iced tea sweetened with simple syrup to start. The salad was light and magnificent. The lemon pieces were truly life changing. I could've eaten that salad everyday. I followed up with the grilled spanish octopus. I was a little concerned that I had gotten myself into trouble at first but the dish was great. The beans, the chili vinaigrette, the lemon pieces, and the sausage all complemented the octopus. The potatoes were not my favorite in the dish. I feel that they couldn't been herbed but they were a bit bland. I've only had octopus once so this was a bit of adventure for me. I finished it up with the chocolate coconut ice cream. It was dairy free! Truly magnificent and rich. Sure it could've been plated better but the taste overrode that aspect. Ambiance: it was a cute spot. I was outside on the sidewalk tables. The decor was nice.
Upon entering the restaurant, we were immediately taken by the warmness of the staff and a personal greeting from one of the owners. Visually, we observed the fabulous noir aesthetics, and an intentional bar containing only mid-level to high-level spirits. After receiving our cocktails, a Cowboy Killer and a Chardonnay, we felt as though we had left Baton Rouge and were sitting in a trendy dining establishment in Crystal City outside of Washington, D.C. Our server Cheyenne, was quickly present and extremely knowledgeable. We were delighted at the chef-driven, international menu items, however all over the map with our thoughts and our Cheyenne made some excellent suggestions. For our appetizer, we decided on the Indonesian Stir-Fried Noodles, which was actually an entree. It was absolutely delicious, with a slight spice, delightful peanut drizzle and with many other flavors that merge into a party in your mouth. Our entree was the Pan Seared Fresh Fish, Orange & Red Currant Romesco, Parsley Cream, Roasted Celery Root, fried Eggplant. We were surprised and that the fish was actually Halibut as it is found in the cold, deep waters of the North Pacific and North Atlantic oceans. It was an excellent and delightful choice. The fish was fresh, flaky, perfectly cooked and with the sauce accompaniments it was a complete palate pleaser. The only critique I have was that the eggplant beneath the fish was too think and chewy with a tough skin and bitter aftertaste. I think a thinly sliced, fried eggplant stack beneath the fish would have been perfect for my taste. Overall, this is the best total dining experience we have had in a long time. Cocha is now one of our favorites.
I went to Cocha for brunch and really enjoyed it. It was nice outside, the service was good, lovely wine selections (which cannot be said for a lot of restaurants in BR), and I really enjoyed the flavors in my salmon Benedict! I love that they offer different items seasonally and that the menu items encompass more than your typically Louisiana cajun fare. I also enjoy their wine tastings when they host them - a great spot overall in downtown!
What can I say!! My experience was amazing!!! Everything from our excellent waiter who made sure we had everything in a timely fashion, he cleared our drinks and plates every time he came to check in, I did not have to ask for anything! The food was so delicious! The drinks were great! The atmosphere was captivating. Everything was lovely and I will be returning.
What a sleeper surprise! We were driving through Baton Rouge during the holidays and decided to stop somewhere for lunch. So happy we chose Cocha. First off, I have to praise the Eyes of the World cocktail. It is hands down the best cocktail I've had in quite some time. So perfectly balanced with a hint of spice and not too sweet - I wish I could order another right now. The food was also quite good. Our favorite was the Beet and Burrata salad. The Latin roast pork and Asian stir fry entrees were also good, but the cocktail and salad were really the highlights. The service was friendly, but pretty slow despite our table being one of only 2 or 3. It felt like we had been forgotten on more than one occasion. And dining outside was really lovely, but the beautiful tree canopy above will shed many small leaves, into your food and drink if you're not careful. We often had to cover our bowls and glasses whenever a small gust of wind blew. Nothing to dock points for - just a warning if you also choose to dine outside!
We had the cachapas for appetizers and I had the Indian curry. The flavors on my dish went well together (curry, cabbage, spinach, and purple rice) and the food was fresh and light. The curry was everything I was hoping it would be. The cachapas had a great taste, but they seemed to have been waiting to get to us for a brief moment as the dish tasted warm and not hot. The waiter was attentive and made sure to always check on us and that we had what we needed. On taste, decor, and overall experience I give this place a 4.5!
Cocha was a very intimate spot, great for gathering with relatives and friends alike. Their dinner menu showcases locally grown and fed ingredients. They run a more limited menu than your typical restaurant with a few featured dishes from the garden land and sea. Beautiful presentation. Stellar service, our server Zach was more than knowledgeable and courteous a true host with the most if you will. Great wine selections.
Food was great. Had the special ribeye and it literally melted in your mouth. The duck was also fabulous. Bernardo and the staff was on point and provided great service for all our college girls. The room itself was cool and well thought out - definitely one to revisit.
Such a superb place with quality ingredients. Love this place. the weather was fantastic for outside seating. Starters, Had the yellowfin tuna over crispy rice. This was just ok. Jalepenos were unusually spicy. The rice to tuna ratio was off and needed a little more sauce. Still good though. The burrata beat salad was delicious but would have been even better with a balsamic to me. The beet soup was flavorful and comforting. Duck entree was a little over salted but so delicious! Wish it had the other half of the duck just wasn't enough. The sides were savory. The ribeye was also over salted and a little chewy but good. The potatoes were great. The lavender fields drink was refreshing and relaxing. The pims cup still one of the best. The chocolate sorbet WOW! Shocked it's dairy free as it's so rich and creamy. I have to go back and get that for sure. Glad it's a staple and not a seasonal thing.
The place is so cool with outside seating downtown! A perfect spot to hangout on a pretty day! The cocktails are amazing and unique! The service was friendly and fast! I highly recommend this spot!

We are back after5 years and we are happy to report that Cocha is thriving!!!! We were hoping that the grilled Parmesan coated oysters were on the menu but they weren't However, it gave us an opportunity to explore the menu and we were thankful we did. For appetizers, we had the cachapas with pork which were delicious. Recommended app for sure! My wife had an Indian curry with cabbage, purple rice, chick peas and spinach-wow!!!!!! Probably the creamiest tasting curry ever! You could add a protein but wifey went with the vegetarian option and it was great! It wasn't perfect bc there were some chick peas that weren't cooked all the way and were crunchy I went with the mussels in a pesto cream sauce with potatoes and it was sooooo delicious!!! Again not perfect as some mussels had that sandy/gritty taste which I didn't like it most of the them were fine. The ambience here is great! The owner really has thought out every detail to make sure you have an amazing experience. From the decor, music, staff-you can tell there was a a lot of thought, care and love put into it. Our server was very attentive and made great recommendations. Ima Florida boy through and through, but anytime I'm in Louisiana, I will definitely make it a point to stop in for another great food adventure!!! read more
This dinner was AMAZING! Not a single dish was disappointing. The drinks (not photographed) were also absolutely to die for. The ambiance in this place for dinner is unmatched. My favorite dish was the veggie lasagna, which is actually vegan too ;) read more
After reviewing the menu, I was looking forward to an outstanding dinner. They offer an interesting upscale menu. We shared a pork belly appetizer that was good. That night my husband ordered the special which was pork on risotto. The pork was very tender but the toppings were a little too sweet for my husband's taste. I love seafood and the Cioppino arrived looking fabulous. The scallops and shrimp were cooked to perfection then I tried the sauce.....and it tasted gritty. The culprits were the clams that were not properly cleaned. I couldn't finish the dish with all that sand in the sauce, clams and mussels. I explained the situation to the server who apologized and then another gentleman came and offered us a dessert which was nice but I was still charged the full $40 price for an expensive few scallops, shrimp and a couple pieces of crostini. It is a lovely restaurant. Service was good. This meal just left a a bad taste in my mouth.....literally! read more

What can I say!! My experience was amazing!!! An upscale restaurant with outdoor seating available for those travelling with pups made our choice to eat here easy. We tried 3 different appetizers (portions are small,but that's expected in a restaurant) and all were phenomenally good. Our waiter Leigh turned out to be an amazing chatty gal who recommended a number of breweries on our way to next destination as part of our roadtrip (turns out,she's a passionate beer-afficionado!) so we got more than we expected-great good,great service and great local insights. Thank you,we'd love to come back again sometime when in the area! read more

I thoroughly enjoyed the food at this establishment. I had the vegan Carolina BBQ sandwich, with smashed fingerling potatoes, all of which were very good. Upon arrival, our waiter seemed to be less than thrilled that we were there, which was quite disappointing. Maybe he was having a bad day, but it sure put a damper on the experience. I'd been wanting to try this place for a while, but this tainted it a bit for me. The place is cute and quaint, which I liked. Overall, the food was very good. I always try to give people grace, so I'll give it another go. Hopefully, it'll be a better overall experience next time and I can up my review to 5 stars. read more

There is a small parking area right outside of the restaurant, which was great as parking in downtown BR can be a pain. Food was delicious. Matthew was our server, he was very attentive and made sure items were safe for me to eat as I'm dairy free. The inside of the restaurant is very quaint and is perfect for a date night. Cocha was one of the last places I could find with large party availability on graduation night. I made a reservation for 8 through Open Table and just so you know, you have to put in a credit card to hold your table - cancelling last minute = $25 per person. Thank god it didn't come to that. We got there a little early and the staff was so welcoming and let us sit at the bar till our table was ready. The few drinks we had were good. I had 3 more friends join last minute and they were more than accommodating. Thank you to the staff! The menu is pretty random but I would say the food is tasty. It is much more experimental for Baton Rouge, so if you're picky, you might not enjoy yourself. I personally love trying new things and I'm a fan of duck, so I enjoyed my entree of the duck breast. The bok choy was crispy and I enjoyed that textural change. My table shared a few desserts. The tres leches?! Yum! They also had sorbet which was yummy and greatly appreciated by my lactose intolerant friends. I overall enjoyed my experience and think it's a special gem in Baton Rouge in terms of finer dining. read more

The steak was a perfect medium rare and delightfully seasoned with a citrus gremolata. The fingerling potatoes and grilled asparagus was the perfect complement and I left nothing on the plate. My server Cheyenne was attentive and made sure I was taken care of. The manager also made friendly conversation creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. I had lunch at Cocha this week and it was a nice experience. My server Jess was really great. She was really sweet and put together an iced matcha for me when it wasn't on the menu. The food was healthy and filling. I would recommend trying the vegan vindaloo. It had a nice flavor and was very light. The salads were also fresh as well. The fruits & roots mocktail was refreshing. It was made with beets, lemon, ginger, and honey. read more

I tried this restaurant for the first time with my fellow foodie and friend! It's has a cute and cozy feel. We had reservations for 7:15; and thank goodness for reservations because when for a Thursday night there was quite a crowd!! We were seated in a little nook near the kitchen for more privacy. There is also additional seating outdoors, but Louisiana is way too unpredictable right now. Our waiter was over really quickly and definitely made our experience amazing! We started with a bottle of Rose and a charcuterie board! The board was sooooo good! Particularly, the pickled carrots, onion, and jalapeños. The cheeses were great selections as well! The Gorgonzola cheese was so smooth and mild! After the amazing cheese board, we ordered two entrees to share! The Indonesian noodles with added shrimp and the Shrimp and Scallops. These dishes did that a little while to come out, but the waiter checked in with us frequently to check in and pour our wine. Our food was good, but for me the Indonesian noodles were the star! This dish definitely had a Pad Thai flavor and the shrimp were huge and cooked to perfection! Finally for dessert the waiter suggested the Mexican Spice Cake, which was melt in your mouth good! Like really good! Overall, the service and food were exceptional! read more

Cocha's food was a nice Saturday treat! I had the brisket sandwich with goat cheese and arugula which was nice. My mom had the chicken and waffles which she said was super good. We sat outside which might've been a mistake because it was hot, I do wish they would've turned on the fans I noticed fit outside customers. All in all I'd come back, because the food was great! read more

We returned to Cocha after having a lovely Easter brunch a couple of months previously, and glad we did. Every dish was delicious again, and the craft cocktails were superb. Service is terrific, and it's such a lovely and relaxing space. I suspect we will be back again soon! read more

This is probably the best vegan date night spot in Baton Rouge. We had a phenomenal experience here. We made a reservation, so when we got there the table was already set and beautiful for us. The place itself is very pretty and has great mood lighting and the drinks were absolutely delicious, so good we had to order multiple rounds. I got the vegan lasagna and my boyfriend got the catch of the day fish. Both of our meals were piping hot, fresh, and delicious! We will definitely be coming back, thank you! read more
