We were hoping that the grilled Parmesan coated oysters were on the menu but they weren't However, it gave us an opportunity to explore the menu and we were thankful we did. For appetizers, we had the cachapas with pork which were delicious. Recommended app for sure! My wife had an Indian curry with cabbage, purple rice, chick peas and spinach-wow!!!!!! Probably the creamiest tasting curry ever! You could add a protein but wifey went with the vegetarian option and it was great! It wasn't perfect bc there were some chick peas that weren't cooked all the way and were crunchy I went with the mussels in a pesto cream sauce with potatoes and it was sooooo delicious!!! Again not perfect as some mussels had that sandy/gritty taste which I didn't like it most of the them were fine. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience here is great! The owner really has thought out every detail to make sure you have an amazing experience. After reviewing the menu, I was looking forward to an outstanding dinner. They offer an interesting upscale menu. We shared a pork belly appetizer that was good. That night my husband ordered the special which was pork on risotto. The pork was very tender but the toppings were a little too sweet for my husband's taste. I love seafood and the Cioppino arrived looking fabulous. The scallops and shrimp were cooked to perfection then I tried the sauce.....and it tasted gritty. The culprits were the clams that were not properly cleaned. I couldn't finish the dish with all that sand in the sauce, clams and mussels. I explained the situation to the server who apologized and then another gentleman came and offered us a dessert which was nice but I was still charged the full $40 price for an expensive few scallops, shrimp and a couple pieces of crostini. Upon entering the restaurant, we were immediately taken by the warmness of the staff and a personal greeting from one of the owners. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Visually, we observed the fabulous noir aesthetics, and an intentional bar containing only mid-level to high-level spirits.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After receiving our cocktails, a Cowboy Killer and a Chardonnay, we felt as though we had left Baton Rouge and were sitting in a trendy dining establishment in Crystal City outside of Washington, D.C. Our server Cheyenne, was quickly present and extremely knowledgeable. We were delighted at the chef-driven, international menu items, however all over the map with our thoughts and our Cheyenne made some excellent suggestions. For our appetizer, we decided on the Indonesian Stir-Fried Noodles, which was actually an entree. It was absolutely delicious, with a slight spice, delightful peanut drizzle and with many other flavors that merge into a party in your mouth. Our entree was the Pan Seared Fresh Fish, Orange & Red Currant Romesco, Parsley Cream, Roasted Celery Root, fried Eggplant. We were surprised and that the fish was actually Halibut as it is found in the cold, deep waters of the North Pacific and North Atlantic oceans. It was an excellent and delightful choice. The fish was fresh, flaky, perfectly cooked and with the sauce accompaniments it was a complete palate pleaser. The only critique I have was that the eggplant beneath the fish was too think and chewy with a tough skin and bitter aftertaste. I think a thinly sliced, fried eggplant stack beneath the fish would have been perfect for my taste. Overall, this is the best total dining experience we have had in a long time. Service: The service is top tier. Everyone was nice and friendly, incredibly accommodating and attentive. The waiter did know about gluten intolerances and was able to guide me. Food: okay. So if you have a gluten intolerance, you have to be open minded here. The menu, while fantastic, is a bit limited overall/for all diets. I got the half cocha salad and the iced tea sweetened with simple syrup to start. The salad was light and magnificent. The lemon pieces were truly life changing. I could've eaten that salad everyday. I followed up with the grilled spanish octopus. I was a little concerned that I had gotten myself into trouble at first but the dish was great. The beans, the chili vinaigrette, the lemon pieces, and the sausage all complemented the octopus. The potatoes were not my favorite in the dish. I feel that they couldn't been herbed but they were a bit bland. I've only had octopus once so this was a bit of adventure for me. I finished it up with the chocolate coconut ice cream. What a sleeper surprise! We were driving through Baton Rouge during the holidays and decided to stop somewhere for lunch. So happy we chose Cocha. First off, I have to praise the Eyes of the World cocktail. It is hands down the best cocktail I've had in quite some time. So perfectly balanced with a hint of spice and not too sweet - I wish I could order another right now. The food was also quite good. Our favorite was the Beet and Burrata salad. The Latin roast pork and Asian stir fry entrees were also good, but the cocktail and salad were really the highlights. The service was friendly, but pretty slow despite our table being one of only 2 or 3. It felt like we had been forgotten on more than one occasion. And dining outside was really lovely, but the beautiful tree canopy above will shed many small leaves, into your food and drink if you're not careful. Jalepenos were unusually spicy. The rice to tuna ratio was off and needed a little more sauce. Still good though. The burrata beat salad was delicious but would have been even better with a balsamic to me. The beet soup was flavorful and comforting. Duck entree was a little over salted but so delicious! An upscale restaurant with outdoor seating available for those travelling with pups made our choice to eat here easy. We tried 3 different appetizers (portions are small,but that's expected in a restaurant) and all were phenomenally good. There is a small parking area right outside of the restaurant, which was great as parking in downtown BR can be a pain. Food was delicious. Upon arrival, our waiter seemed to be less than thrilled that we were there, which was quite disappointing. Maybe he was having a bad day, but it sure put a damper on the experience. I'd been wanting to try this place for a while, but this tainted it a bit for me. The place is cute and quaint, which I liked. Overall, the food was very good. Cocha was one of the last places I could find with large party availability on graduation night. I made a reservation for 8 through Open Table and just so you know, you have to put in a credit card to hold your table - cancelling last minute = $25 per person. Thank god it didn't come to that. We got there a little early and the staff was so welcoming and let us sit at the bar till our table was ready. The few drinks we had were good. I had 3 more friends join last minute and they were more than accommodating. Thank you to the staff! The menu is pretty random but I would say the food is tasty. It is much more experimental for Baton Rouge, so if you're picky, you might not enjoy yourself. I personally love trying new things and I'm a fan of duck, so I enjoyed my entree of the duck breast. The bok choy was crispy and I enjoyed that textural change. My table shared a few desserts. The tres leches?! Yum! They also had sorbet which was yummy and greatly appreciated by my lactose intolerant friends. Came here with my wife for an anniversary dinner. It was crowded so we were glad we made a reservation beforehand. The inside is VERY loud... not easy to have a conversation with your dining partners. Fortunately, our reservation was for the patio, which was much quieter, with the exception of a few loud cars that passed by. The outside was fun for people watching too! We ordered the Korean pork belly wraps and Salmon belly rillette as starters. The pork belly was excellent... perhaps a tiny tin bit overcooked but still very good. The salmon was underwhelming... much drier than expected. We ordered the Osso Bucco and Confit Duck as main dishes with red wine. The duck was super tender, but the mushroom flavor in the sauce was a bit too strong for my taste, and I love mushrooms normally. Parts of the Osso Bucco completely melted in our mouths, while other parts were very overcooked... quite surprising for something that was cooked sous-vide for 24 hours. Service was mostly good. It seemed like the restaurant was a little understaffed (who isn't these days), and the workers were HUSTLING! Still, everything took a little bit longer than expected, but it wasn't too bad. We had high expectations after seeing the reviews, and while the experience didn't meet the bar, we still had a really good time and the food was excellent overall! read more

I tried this restaurant for the first time with my fellow foodie and friend! It's has a cute and cozy feel. We had reservations for 7:15; and thank goodness for reservations because when for a Thursday night there was quite a crowd!! We were seated in a little nook near the kitchen for more privacy. We started with a bottle of Rose and a charcuterie board! The board was sooooo good! Particularly, the pickled carrots, onion, and jalapeños. The cheeses were great selections as well! The Gorgonzola cheese was so smooth and mild! After the amazing cheese board, we ordered two entrees to share! The Indonesian noodles with added shrimp and the Shrimp and Scallops. These dishes did that a little while to come out, but the waiter checked in with us frequently to check in and pour our wine. Our food was good, but for me the Indonesian noodles were the star! This dish definitely had a Pad Thai flavor and the shrimp were huge and cooked to perfection! Finally for dessert the waiter suggested the Mexican Spice Cake, which was melt in your mouth good! This is probably the best vegan date night spot in Baton Rouge. We had a phenomenal experience here. We made a reservation, so when we got there the table was already set and beautiful for us. The place itself is very pretty and has great mood lighting and the drinks were absolutely delicious, so good we had to order multiple rounds.
