Service: The service is top tier. Everyone was nice and friendly, incredibly accommodating and attentive. The waiter did know about gluten intolerances and was able to guide me. Food: okay. So if you have a gluten intolerance, you have to be open minded here. The menu, while fantastic, is a bit limited overall/for all diets. I got the half cocha salad and the iced tea sweetened with simple syrup to start. The salad was light and magnificent. The lemon pieces were truly life changing. I could've eaten that salad everyday. I followed up with the grilled spanish octopus. I was a little concerned that I had gotten myself into trouble at first but the dish was great. The beans, the chili vinaigrette, the lemon pieces, and the sausage all complemented the octopus. The potatoes were not my favorite in the dish. I feel that they couldn't been herbed but they were a bit bland. I've only had octopus once so this was a bit of adventure for me. I finished it up with the chocolate coconut ice cream. It was dairy free! Truly magnificent and rich. Sure it could've been plated better but the taste overrode that aspect. Ambiance: it was a cute spot. I was outside on the sidewalk tables. The decor was nice.
Upon entering the restaurant, we were immediately taken by the warmness of the staff and a personal greeting from one of the owners. Visually, we observed the fabulous noir aesthetics, and an intentional bar containing only mid-level to high-level spirits. After receiving our cocktails, a Cowboy Killer and a Chardonnay, we felt as though we had left Baton Rouge and were sitting in a trendy dining establishment in Crystal City outside of Washington, D.C. Our server Cheyenne, was quickly present and extremely knowledgeable. We were delighted at the chef-driven, international menu items, however all over the map with our thoughts and our Cheyenne made some excellent suggestions. For our appetizer, we decided on the Indonesian Stir-Fried Noodles, which was actually an entree. It was absolutely delicious, with a slight spice, delightful peanut drizzle and with many other flavors that merge into a party in your mouth. Our entree was the Pan Seared Fresh Fish, Orange & Red Currant Romesco, Parsley Cream, Roasted Celery Root, fried Eggplant. We were surprised and that the fish was actually Halibut as it is found in the cold, deep waters of the North Pacific and North Atlantic oceans. It was an excellent and delightful choice. The fish was fresh, flaky, perfectly cooked and with the sauce accompaniments it was a complete palate pleaser. The only critique I have was that the eggplant beneath the fish was too think and chewy with a tough skin and bitter aftertaste. I think a thinly sliced, fried eggplant stack beneath the fish would have been perfect for my taste. Overall, this is the best total dining experience we have had in a long time. Cocha is now one of our favorites.
I went to Cocha for brunch and really enjoyed it. It was nice outside, the service was good, lovely wine selections (which cannot be said for a lot of restaurants in BR), and I really enjoyed the flavors in my salmon Benedict! I love that they offer different items seasonally and that the menu items encompass more than your typically Louisiana cajun fare. I also enjoy their wine tastings when they host them - a great spot overall in downtown!
What can I say!! My experience was amazing!!! Everything from our excellent waiter who made sure we had everything in a timely fashion, he cleared our drinks and plates every time he came to check in, I did not have to ask for anything! The food was so delicious! The drinks were great! The atmosphere was captivating. Everything was lovely and I will be returning.
What a sleeper surprise! We were driving through Baton Rouge during the holidays and decided to stop somewhere for lunch. So happy we chose Cocha. First off, I have to praise the Eyes of the World cocktail. It is hands down the best cocktail I've had in quite some time. So perfectly balanced with a hint of spice and not too sweet - I wish I could order another right now. The food was also quite good. Our favorite was the Beet and Burrata salad. The Latin roast pork and Asian stir fry entrees were also good, but the cocktail and salad were really the highlights. The service was friendly, but pretty slow despite our table being one of only 2 or 3. It felt like we had been forgotten on more than one occasion. And dining outside was really lovely, but the beautiful tree canopy above will shed many small leaves, into your food and drink if you're not careful. We often had to cover our bowls and glasses whenever a small gust of wind blew. Nothing to dock points for - just a warning if you also choose to dine outside!
We had the cachapas for appetizers and I had the Indian curry. The flavors on my dish went well together (curry, cabbage, spinach, and purple rice) and the food was fresh and light. The curry was everything I was hoping it would be. The cachapas had a great taste, but they seemed to have been waiting to get to us for a brief moment as the dish tasted warm and not hot. The waiter was attentive and made sure to always check on us and that we had what we needed. On taste, decor, and overall experience I give this place a 4.5!
Cocha was a very intimate spot, great for gathering with relatives and friends alike. Their dinner menu showcases locally grown and fed ingredients. They run a more limited menu than your typical restaurant with a few featured dishes from the garden land and sea. Beautiful presentation. Stellar service, our server Zach was more than knowledgeable and courteous a true host with the most if you will. Great wine selections.
Food was great. Had the special ribeye and it literally melted in your mouth. The duck was also fabulous. Bernardo and the staff was on point and provided great service for all our college girls. The room itself was cool and well thought out - definitely one to revisit.
Such a superb place with quality ingredients. Love this place. the weather was fantastic for outside seating. Starters, Had the yellowfin tuna over crispy rice. This was just ok. Jalepenos were unusually spicy. The rice to tuna ratio was off and needed a little more sauce. Still good though. The burrata beat salad was delicious but would have been even better with a balsamic to me. The beet soup was flavorful and comforting. Duck entree was a little over salted but so delicious! Wish it had the other half of the duck just wasn't enough. The sides were savory. The ribeye was also over salted and a little chewy but good. The potatoes were great. The lavender fields drink was refreshing and relaxing. The pims cup still one of the best. The chocolate sorbet WOW! Shocked it's dairy free as it's so rich and creamy. I have to go back and get that for sure. Glad it's a staple and not a seasonal thing.
The place is so cool with outside seating downtown! A perfect spot to hangout on a pretty day! The cocktails are amazing and unique! The service was friendly and fast! I highly recommend this spot!
Well must say, absolutely phenomenal service here, guys were great vibes giving us the low down on food, history, culture here and what not. The food itself brings a lot of innovation and fusion. Check out the great host of dishes we tried.
This restaurant was spectacular from food to service to atmosphere. The menu is eclectic and has something for everyone. It was a little pricey but well worth it.

This is probably the best vegan date night spot in Baton Rouge. We had a phenomenal experience here. We made a reservation, so when we got there the table was already set and beautiful for us. The place itself is very pretty and has great mood lighting and the drinks were absolutely delicious, so good we had to order multiple rounds. I got the vegan lasagna and my boyfriend got the catch of the day fish. Both of our meals were piping hot, fresh, and delicious! We will definitely be coming back, thank you! read more

This was my second visit to cocha and first for brunch. The second time around was quite a bit better than the first. My hanger steak was seasoned to perfection but it was served on the cooler side of room temperature. It is personal preference that my food is quite hot. I did also have their soup of the day which was a white bean, sort of reminded me of a chili, it was absolutely delicious. It had a nice kick to it! As far as my espresso martini it was one of the best I've had in town, it had such a strong and fresh coffee taste that I appreciated. read more

Surprise! I went back again, and this time I dined-in. I ordered the Cachapa (vegan style) and the Cocha Salad (sans pine nuts). Both dishes were good. They actually added guac to my Cachapa, so what more could I ask for?! The salad had the perfect amount of dressing as I prefer my salads wet. I give both dishes a solid B+. The service was very friendly and attentive as well. read more

Decided to come to Cocha for a celebration lunch, and the experience was alright. The menu Cocha has online on their website & on YELP does not match the menu they have currently in the restaurant (at least not for lunch). I was a bit disappointed when I arrived and the menu didn't have the Lobster Sliders. Additionally, when we asked our waiter what the Soup of the Day was, he said "it's not done yet, sorry." Our reservation was for 12:00pm on a Friday so that was a bit odd. He never ended up telling us what the soup was. I ordered the Beet & Burrata salad which was delicious, but for a salad to be $18 with no protein and not even an entire bulb of burrata, I don't think it was worth the price. Also, it took my party over an hour to receive our food, even though 3/5 of us ordered salads. It would've been better if Cocha had appetizers, but there are none on the menu so we were starving when our food finally arrived around 1:15pm. Overall, the food was amazing--compliments to the chef!! I just personally would not come here again for a celebration since my expectations were a bit let down and things seemed to be a bit disorganized. read more

Went to Cocha yesterday for brunch, and I have mixed feelings on how it was. Let me start by saying what I had was delicious. My friend and I split the tuna sliders and the beet salad. The beet salad is overpriced for what you get. Lettuce, fennel, a slice of avocado, beets, a bit of burrata, and dressing. Surprisingly the beet salad was more expensive than the tuna sliders, which just blows my mind. The tuna sliders were heavenly, they had the right mix of salt, acid, and a quick sear so they did not overcook. I was disappointed that they're taking the lobster sliders off the menu. If the tuna sliders are the permanent replacement, I won't be sad for long. In any return brunch visit, I will pass on the Cocha Constellation (a cocktail that's a bit too heavy on the arugula and lacked the pear it promised) and opt for two of the Tea Thyme cocktails. read more
Unique offerings! You can research the menu pictures all you want but it does change which I love and shows how talented this place is. We ordered the Chachapa and the Octopus both outstanding. The cocktails are phenomenal. These bartenders are so talented they can make anything and it will taste amazing. read more
We went to Cocha for lunch before heading back home to Austin. The exterior of the restaurant smelled strongly of sewage, so I came in cautiously. Fortunately, the restaurant does not smell like sewage, and we were greeted with smiling faces. We had the brunch menu items: Cachapas, laktes, and a dutch baby. The Dutch baby was a first good impression: A pancake made in a cast iron. I'll be sure to try making that since my family actually uses cast irons at home. Unfortunately, the rest of our food fell flat: The laktes were overly salty and sour from their toppings. I was looking for a more potato flavor. The cachapas were bland. Nevertheless, the food presentation was beautiful, and looked like everything a farm to table restaurant should look like. The service was good. The waiter was attentive, and the owner(?) even came over to say hi. The owner has great taste in decoration too. read more

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. Cocktail Sunset in Bali is delicious. Picture is of the veggie lasagna and it was INCREDIBLE. Everything tasted so fresh; cooked so well, 10/10 cannot wait to come back. read more
Had a birthday lunch here a few months ago and everything was great! They have nice outdoor seating and the service was super attentive. We had the duck and the salmon and both were delicious! Finished off with some chocolatey desserts- the ice cream was the better of the two, but I'd love to try the panna cotta again in a different flavor. It seems like they rotate menu items every now and then, so I'll definitely be back to try other things! read more
Wow! I must say I was very impressed with this restaurant. We went for a Mezcal tasting, they have various events offered to try new products. We loved the tasting and decided to stay for dinner. We enjoyed several appetizers during the mezcal tasting, which were very tasty. For dinner I had the octopus, which was incredibly delicious. I thought it was great they offer some rather atypical foods, such as octopus. The wine I had with my dinner was fantastic and the waiter was very helpful and friendly with pairing a wine with my food choice. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and I highly recommend it to anyone searching for something exciting and different. read more

I enjoyed Cocha! I had been wanting to go here for awhile now and I finally tried it out! The one thing that was the most disappointing was that the menu on their social medias and website were incorrect. I was pretty excited to try some specific menu items, but when I sat down the menu was a bit different. I was really looking forward to getting lobster sliders but instead saw the tuna sliders on the menu instead. I got them and thought they were really good! I also was kind of confused as to why there were no appetizers on the menu. The party I was with would've liked to have gotten some since our food took over an hour to come out. We also asked about the soup of the day but they said it wasn't ready? That was also pretty disappointing since it was mid afternoon so we did not know why the soup wasn't done yet? Even though their menu was different than expected, it was nice to see that they could accommodate any food allergy or diet restriction. This is probably the only place in BR I have seen do this. They have GF, DF, V, and VEG options! read more

I came to Cocha because of all the diverse photos on Yelp. The menu looked very diverse and worth a visit. First impression is VERY positive. The outdoor patio looked very popular. The inside was very warm and surprisingly not loud. The place was full, yet very enjoyable. I tried the sweet and sour soup - had a great pepper kick to it. It was spicy and the mushrooms were fantastic. Then I had the chicken curry followed by a tres Lethe dessert. During my dinner, I had the opportunity to chat with the owner. She was delightful and very open with her love for this area and the opportunity to feed her clientele a diverse menu. I will definitely be back and will try the Pulpo! read more

We had reservations for brunch. We were immediately greeted by a friendly owner?? and waitress. Our table was ready and waiting for us. The cocktail special was a blend of peach, rosemary and lemon flavors. It was refreshing and delicious. I had the Eggs Benedict. It was perfectly poached eggs on Fried green tomatoes base, topped with prosciutto and lump crab, Jalapeño hollandaise and arugula. DELICIOUS!!! One of the best I've ever had. Others in our party had the Honey Miso Salmon and the Bananas Foster Waffles. Both were outstanding as well. The service was top notched. The ambience was good. Soft music playing, nice art. The chairs are wooden and a little hard. We were able to park in the adjacent lot which was nice. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and already had plans to come back. So good. read more

We have been meaning to try Cocha and now regret not going sooner! We tried the Cachapa, Indonesian Stir Fried Noodles, Fresh Catch, and Tres Leches. Our server recommended several of the dishes as well as the Lieu Dit Sauvignon Blanc which paired perfectly. Caleb was very knowledgeable about the food and drink menus, attentive, and provided top tier wine service. His service took our experience at Cocha from great to amazing! Do you want to take a trip to Bordeaux, FR with hybrid hospitality of South America and the southern U.S., this is your place. Diversity of flavors paired with distinct culinary skill and a wine list that will transport you, make sure you hold on for the ride. Situated behind their namesake mural on the corner of Sixth and Main, Cocha immediately feels inviting. The bar area was my first dinner experience and Jacki was super friendly with great food and beverage recommendations. The Venezuelan corncakes with pulled pork have every ingredient needed and nothing that they don't- the sign of perfection. It's absolutely a 6/5 star dish. At my lunch here, had the vindaloo curry. They could absolutely double the price for this, as it's enough to feed two (especially if you add chicken). All the earthy spices are spot-on, heat of ginger, and the veggie-forward approach is modern and fresh. Second night here (if it ain't broke, don't fix it), had the catch of the day, was craving spice and Coco and kitchen provided all the accoutrements to give a little heat to a superb dish. It seems they make a couple in-house spicy salsas that I loved! Coco was really helpful with all recommendations, especially wine! Finally but not least, get the chocolate gelato, topped with liquor. If you want a really unique taste/texture, stir upon receiving and give a few minutes to sit. All of a sudden your dessert becomes an ice-cold mousse. Superb! Furthermore, I will always give my business to a restaurant who is GF-friendly over the ignorant, non-inclusive places that don't and put wheat flour in everything for the sake of convenience. So extra thanks for that! Ambiance is sophisticated and cozy, elegant and rustic. How does one restaurant do all these things? I don't know, just know I look forward to coming back! read more

If I could give them 100 stars I would! The manager and our waiter went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make my birthday a special event! They set us up in a semi-private area and did a fun wine tasting/ pairing with our appetizers and salads (which Juan, our waiter, picked out especially for us)! His knowledge of pairing was absolutely wonderful and his attentiveness was top notch. ALL of the dishes we had were fantastic and tasty and different than the usual stuff that every restaurant has! At cocha, all you have to do is ask and they will try to make it happen for you We were there quite late past closing but we were not once rushed out and we were send on our way with smiles and happiness. read more

I can here twice on a Recent business trip. It was amazing. The first time I had the curry which was vegan and absolutely luscious. Full of flavor, nicely presented, and the perfect amount of food, it melded flavors of India and Thailand together. Rich but not cloying. I could taste individual elements if the dish. The owner? Chef? Came out and checked on us and asked us for feedback. My colleagues also loved their options which were fish and some sort of beef. The drinks were interesting and has a zip to them (the spicy ones) The next day I came back on my own for a quick lunch before leaving. I had the polenta (or maybe corn cake?! which was kind of like an English muffin with jackfruit and I scarfed it down quick. Both days I had the chocolate ice cream that was vegan for dessert. I almost ordered two but didn't want to be too greedy. The service was attentive both times and the server even accommodated next being on a phone call for like 15 minutes. This was a highlight both in flavorful food and service of my business trips this year. Thanks so much and I'll be back!! read more
