The outer skin is crispy with the right tenderness of chicken meat, every bite of it is giving a rich layering. I love its rice very much, it is flavorful, and the texture of the rice is just right, I can eat 2 bowls of it. I'm always afraid to try hainan chicken outside of those tried-and-true places because many places put hainan chicken on the menu as an afterthought so quality is sometimes not there but this place is pretty solid as all they seem to do is chicken. I do like the assortment of condiments too but was hoping for some kind of soy sauce which they didn't have or didn't give me. Great place for some quick chicken and rice as comfort food. It was our first time ever trying this and we ordered Combo A and the Fried Hainan Chicken and wow, it was a feast! Happy to say I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was good. The spicy cucumber salad was a tad too sweet for my liking but was inhaled. We ordered so much because I honestly thought the half chicken wouldn't be enough. We've ordered from places before where half chicken is of the smallest portions (like two pieces). We have enough leftovers for tomorrow. Honestly, I'm embarrassed to say the next thing but I was also pleasantly surprised to see a young lady who was BIPOC behind the counter. I am not one to make this a point about everything but this is in Arcadia where, let's be honest, it isn't the friendliest or welcoming to non-white and non-Asian people. She's in a few of the pics on here. And she was so sweet, polite, and helpful. We will continue to support this business for this reason as well. The chicken rice here was not bad, but not great. The good: Chicken was moist and portion was generous. The bad: Rice had a brown color and tasted like soy sauce which overpowered any chicken flavor in the rice. Next, the 2 sauces that it comes with are very meh. The red sauce was a little too sweet and the green sauce was average. I also got the spicy cucumber salad and it was not spicy at all. Actually, it was a little sweet which I found really odd and portion was small for the price. Definitely could change up the seasoning and let the cucumbers marinate longer to infuse the flavors. I have eaten their food 30 or 40 times: usually their A combo, dark or mixed, and their chicken is consistently good; their service always excellent and their prices reasonable. Really love this place. It's not very crowded (not sure why unless I just go during less popular times). It is located in a small plaza across the street from the 99 cent store. I have never had an issue with parking. I believe this location is mostly take out. They are quick, my food is usually ready within 10 minutes. Hai nam chicken with dark meat is so yummy. This review is SOLELY based off their customer service. Their food is great so let's just get that out of the way, solid 8/10 value to quality comparison. This is my third time eating here and every experience I had when coming in as a customer sucked completely, 1 out of 10 stars, seriously. This last time was absolutely the worst. For starters this place is really busy, walk-ins, phone orders, Ubereats, small place with not enough help. I walked in Wednesday approximately at 6pm, surprisingly only a small group was in there waiting for their food, on the cue seemed to only have 2 orders, perhaps Ubereats, phone etc. The girl tells me 15 minutes it'll be ready, GREAT! I walk outside and come in about 15 minutes and the same group was still waiting on their food and about 3 more people had walked in shortly afterwards to order so I'm just waiting patiently like everyone else. 15 more minutes had passed and during this period of time everyone is just really just standing and waiting and 3 uber pickups happen, fine... the problem now begins for myself and many others and I blame it solely on the young Asian gal who is working the register. She isn't productive at all, taking phone orders, great other than that she doesn't insert herself whatsoever...but the young black chick, kudos to her, she is packing all the orders by herself and hustlin! yeah perhaps the asian gal title is just to take orders but there at this point is about 9+ orders on the cue and about 9 of us waiting in the small place waiting for our food so help the sista out! A older chinese man comes in for UBEReats and starts screaming about his order how they told him 15 mins and hes being told to wait 15 more mins and the young asian gal pulls his ticket and puts it in front of literally all of ours, okay yeah whatever. 10 more mins have passed so we are about 35+ mins invested and no word about our food and finally the small group gets their food, I'm thinking okay thats probably the hold up 4 of them ordered a ton of food. Next a single man gets his order, cool! I know Im next because he was in there right after me but I had ordered something slightly larger. Another 2 Uber pickup their order, so now its just me and a couple waiting in there, wtf....black chick calls a number and no one responds, I walk up to ask where my order is at as I've waited patiently for about 40 mins now and not only have I not seen my order but no one has told me anything as well as I've seen at least 4 others get their food....the chick says this isn't your order? Im like nope...she looks about 5 ft to her left in a section they keep their phone orders etc and says Oh Im sorry this is your order. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! It's been there all this time?! I DONT blame the black chick whatsoever, it's completely what I stated in the beginning on this review, the asian gal is useless. Her job is to take the orders but on the same note deligate them out. The room we stood in was approximately 12x15 at best, she sees every single person in there easily and could probably read our fuckin minds if she focused hard enough. All she had to do was ask folks in lobby what order number they were or use her damn brain to think, hey this dude ordered awhile ago I wonder what the hold up is etc etc. Needless to say, the food is good as always, they have a Now Hiring sign for a reason, not because they need additional help but I'm certain they want or need to replace the cashier. Oh, if you happen to be the girl working the register reading this, don't take it personal, just pay more attention to your job, if you don't value yourself as a person and show people your abilities then my review is going to go noticed and never changed. Just make some effort to greet the customer and respect . we are the one who is supporting your business., especially the one staff who think it's in charge. Lately they keep sneaking white meat into out dark meat orders. I wish I could give 5 stars. We come here often, and the chicken is very juicy and tasty. Even the white meat is tasty (for white meat) but if I am paying for dark meat, I expect dark meat. I don't like to make a stink about stuff like this but O have a picky 4 year old who likes Cluck2Go, but doesn't want it anymore. That's one less option for us.
