This is one of those neighborhood gems you end up visiting again and again. The potato noodles were delicious with lots of ingredients, not just noodles. The Hainan chicken was tender, and the Changsha stinky tofu was crispy outside and soft inside. Everything was affordable, filling, and made with care. If you're looking for authentic comfort food around Walnut, I highly recommend giving this place a try!

I knew coming into here that I wanted the chicken rice combo. If you're going with two people and both want the chicken rice, I suggest the combo over getting your own plates because it comes with cucumbers, peanuts, soup, and rice (which is usually add ons)! The portion states that it could feed three, but I'd say two is more realistic. Regardless, I left super content. The soup has a gingery aroma, the rice cooked to absolute perfection, and the chicken was moist and firm!

This hole in the wall, authentic hainan chicken establishment simply blew me away. The chicken combo is more than enough food and the chicken is so tender. The rice with the flavor is knock your socks off. The potato noodles were interesting, not necessarily my thing, but it was definitely worth a try. The soup was good too. Small parking lot out front, and not too many tables but a decent amount. We came for a weekday lunch and it was full! Good service. Pretty clean.

This was my second time here and it is hands down the BEST HAINAN CHICKEN I've had in a while. Better than anything in the SGV. And the value is unmatched. Silky, dark meat only, perfect rice and temperature, great sauces. I am afraid that people will start flooding here and I will eventually have to wait for a table. But I must not be selfish and will share this hidden gem with everyone!

This was a small hole in the wall location, but the food was amazing. The Hainan chicken & rice and cucumber with spicy sauce was excellent. Definitely will return. Service is very courteous and prompt.

The Hainan chicken was tender and juicy, and the skewers were well-seasoned! The restaurant's interior is very cozy, decorated with plants and Chinese-themed items. Since there is no AC, the restaurant can get pretty hot. Ordering is easy with the QR code on each table, which is convenient. Service was excellent, the waitress was quick to bring us water and checked in to see if we had any questions. This spot specializes in potato noodles, skewers, and Hainan chicken. After much contemplation, we ordered combo #1, beef skewer, squid skewer, and pork tenders. Food came out in about 15 minutes. Combo #1 comes with two bowls of rice and soup, a plate of chicken, cucumber salad, and fried peanut. The rice is very fragrant and the chicken was tasty with the sweet and spicy sauces. The soup and sides were okay, but overall worth it if you planned to order 2 Hainan Chicken rice anyways. As for the skewers, the beef was a little tough, it didn't break apart easily. However, the pork tender was soft and came off the stick with no effort. The squid skewers was fine, though the portion felt unsatisfying. Overall, I would definitely recommend this location and will revisit in the future!

Amazing food! The Hainan chicken was super tender, and the fried skewers brought back so many childhood memories. Definitely coming back!

One of the best lunch spots in walnut! Their potato noodle is a classic with their skewers! Also love their hiNan chicken rice, a must order stable in this place!

My family brought me to this restaurant. They have been here multiple times and it was my first visit. I see why they would come here now. Food is good and price is very reasonable. We order a whole chicken with cucumber salad as well as this tofu dish. That tofu dish came with brown sauce and it was so delicious. Everything was so delicious and I would come back for sure. Ps: bring cash or pay a credit card fee

Tried the skewers, chicken rack, hainan chicken and the mouth water chicken with the chrysanthemum tea. Over all was a positive experience, but felt that the hainan chicken was a bit over hyped and the mouth watering chicken was meh. I will start with the good. The deep fried skewers and the chicken racks were pinpoint, not very greasy and well seasoned.the hainan chicken and the mouth water chicken's size were very generous. Service was prompt. The Hainan chicken and the mouth watering were a little disappointing imo. The hainan chicken was somewhat dry, and the sauce and rice lacked the complimentary flavors that would make the chicken taste better. I would say it's a grade below cluck 2 go. The dipping sauce was a little bland, and no "special" soy sauce to go with the Hainan chicken, just regular ones. The mouth watering chicken used the same type of chicken, but the sauce was also bland and lacked flavors for the chicken to be marinated in. I hail from SGV tho, so I do know that maybe it's not fair comparing this place to a SGV shop bc the bar is quite high. The chrysanthemum tea is marketed as self brewed, but I had the weirdest suspicion that it tasted the same as the jug you can get from ranch 99. Because I always drink them lol. Over all though, still a positive experience. I would say that the skewers and the fried dishes tastes better here. I will come back for the potato noodles later.

The Hainan chicken is very tender and cooked to perfection. The rice is incredible even it's just rice. The restaurant's interior is very cozy, decorated with plants and Chinese-themed items. Ordering is easy with the QR code on each table, which is convenient. Combo #1 comes with two bowls of rice and soup, a plate of chicken, cucumber salad, and fried peanut. The rice is very fragrant and the chicken was tasty with the sweet and spicy sauces. We also tried the potato noodles. The potato noodles is very tasty. I will say the best one in LA. If you want to add more protein to the soup that's good. It is also good for the original recipe. I absolutely love the numbing, peppery flavor of Sichuan pepper in potato noodles.

Busy at lunch and worth it. Hainan chicken combo is a steal, and the Fushun-style dry mixed noodles were delicious. Stinky tofu was crispy and surprisingly good

We went to Xin Wang Food for dine-in last week. We ordered the Hainan Chicken Rice, handmade potato noodles, and Casserole Knife-cutting Noodles. Their Hainan chicken rice was still flavorful, and the chicken meat was tender and juicy. We liked the texture and flavor of the Casserole Knife-Cutting noodles and the soup broth. However, both handmade potato noodles and knife-cutting noodles tasted the same, and neither had any meat inside. The handmade potato noodles tasted okay. Overall, it was not bad, but we will probably only order their Hainan Chicken Rice from now on.

They use "walking" chicken which is a different flavor from regular bigger chickens. 3 sauces came with it - all average. The scallion ginger sauce is mostly oii and scallions. No ginger flavor. Shrimp eggrolls were small easy crunchy bites but little to no shrimp. Rice and porridge were below average. I expected more flavor in the chicken rice. And the porridge was very watery and lacked salt. Come and buy chicken only. (But even then, it's pricey for a small portion.....)

Many pieces of chicken were undercooked which made me feel uncomfortable. The ginger & garlic, soy sauce and the chili sauce were all watered down which is funny because that gives additional flavor to the dish. I was hoping it was worthy a return to this establishment, but I will definitely avoid this place. This strip mall has gone down tremendously over the years. I got less food and paid more than Cluck2go. The quality is worse than mediocre which is sad. When I walked into the place it was empty but granted it was around 4pm. A fly or two was circling inside the restaurant which is a bad sign when walking into an establishment. I ended up chucking that meal to the trash after a couple of bites. I don't recommend this place at all. The establishment needs a new cook.

This place happened to be on the way home, so we decided to give it a shot and I'm really glad we did. We ordered the lemongrass chicken and the crispy chicken, and both were excellent. The chicken itself was incredibly flavorful and cooked perfectly. The garlic rice was another standout! Fragrant, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. The plate also came with a small cup of broth, which was a nice complement to the meal, although it was a little mild for my personal taste. The only downside for us was the portion balance. A large portion of the plate is filled with raw cabbage, which makes the dish appear bigger than it actually is. While the rice portion was good, the protein felt a bit limited. We're also not big fans of plain raw cabbage, so we ended up leaving all of it behind. If it had been seasoned or lightly blanched, it might have felt more like a thoughtful side rather than filler. That said, the flavor of the chicken and the rice alone would bring me back. If you're looking for something quick and tasty, this is definitely a great stop. But if you're coming in absolutely starving, the portion-to-price ratio might leave you wishing for a bit more.

I paid for extra hainanese rice and a side of sweet chili sauce. The sauces were amazing. Definitely order the sweet chili sauce. The rice was flavorful and not oily. Complimentary side of soup was hot and flavorful; also not oily. I thought the chicken was just ok. A little more on the drier side but it soaked up the sauces pretty well. I paid just over $20 after tax and that's without a beverage. In my opinion, a little more on the pricey side, given the portion. I think if I didn't pay for extra rice I would still have been hungry. They have complimentary water which tasted great, lie filtered water with cucumbers. Overall, good service. This is one of our family favorites when we're craving some delicious HK food in the Rowland area…read more It's located in the old 99 cent plaza on the corner of Nogales/Colima at the very end. The parking is VERY bad here but you'll find parking if you go farther towards the supermarket side. Yes there is always a wait here especially on peak weekend hours but the lines move very fast. You do ideally need a mandarin/cantonese speaking person however since majority of the staff don't speak english if you need help. The menu is huge with all your traditional HK cafe foods including a separate breakfast and lunch menu. The must have beginner items are the Iced Lemon Tea or the HK Milk Tea. They have changed the policy so you only get ONE refill now then you'll be charged for the 2nd refill! There on-going promotion is BOGO 1/2 steamed chicken or add $3 if you want soy sauce chicken. A very common deal in the rowland area however this place isn't the BEST for steam chicken since its abit lacking in meat and flavor buts till a good deal for larger parties. The other go-to items here are the walnut shrimp, french style filet mignon, egg plant with garlic sauce casserole. Get the short rib version if you want more protein! All of these dishes are super authentic and delicious and very consistent every time! There are secret menu items not on the menu like the stir fry two types of noodle with salted vermicelli(咸魚肉片炒雙麵/炒雙營). It's a classic HK dish with thin egg noodle and chow mein noodle mixed together. This chow mein becomes super crispy while the egg noodle remains soft. The saltiness of the salted fish goes great as the main carb. The service here is great with very attentive waiters. Yes you need to be aggressive to get there attention like at all Cantonese restaurants! I ordered the 鮮蝦餛飩湯麵 / shrimp wonton noodle soup ($13.99). This took about 15 minutes to arrive; when it did, it arrived piping hot. The noodles had decent spring and texture despite being thin. The wontons also had silky wrappers, but crucially didn't rip or disintegrate. The fillings also had properly flavorful and plump shrimp bits - no filler. The stock was also rich. This was textbook execution. In Cantonese fashion, the simplicity belies the execution and attention to detail. Note that the breakfast menu entrees include one hot drink (coffee, milk tea, HK style coffee & tea, Chinese tea, or lemon tea). 1 refill only, +$1.99 for cold drinks, +$1 for to-go cups.

I must've gotten lucky to be the first one here because I noticed later customers receive their orders in 15-20 minutes. The curry chicken is very good for its value. $16 for generous amount of chicken and its thick and juicy. The curry was good flavor on the sweeter side and had a good amount of spice (my level of choice was 2). The double matcha was also very good, they use Marukyu Koyamaen Rindou and the matcha flavor was strong enough to my liking. The cream top was thicker than other places I've tried in the area and had good matcha flavor. For the double matcha I went with Pure Matcha which is matcha with water + matcha cream top. The ambiance inside is like a tea shop, cozy, lots of tables without feeling like a restaurant but rather like a place to study. They had calm music playing when I was here. The Air Conditioner was also on and it was very comfortable to sit inside. I'd definitely come back. I think it's good value, the workers are very nice and it's good to support family owned.
