    Pad thai with pork
    Jeremy S.

I went here with friends, and we waited almost half an hour for a table. They're definitely a popular restaurant busy during dinner on weekends. You can expect a bustling and vibrant ambience during this time. We got several dishes: drunken noodles, pad see ew, house fried rice, and yellow pumpkin curry. Each dish came with our choice of protein; the options without an extra cost were chicken, pork, tofu, and vegetables. Our server was friendly, and the other staff made sure we had our waters refilled. Along with great service, I enjoyed the food again. The drunken noodles were flavorful and not too spicy. Mixing the house fried rice with the yellow pumpkin curry was really delicious. You get a great blend of savory and sweet flavors. Portions are large, so we took leftovers home.

I've been to my fair share of Thai spots and this one is definitely one of the better ones. I had the Pad See Ew and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors of the noodle and sauce meshed well either the beef and veggies. Would definitely come back!

    Crying tiger
    Amy L.

Love the crying tiger, mango sticky rice, and curry. Everything else was good but those were my favorite. The chicken wings was crispy and juicy. But the tom yum sauce just tasted like mama instant noodle tom yum packet. Which i dont hate. The crying tiger takes 20 minutes to make but they give alot so i think its worth. Their curry is also very flavorful. Quite a bit of a drive and if its busy there might not be parking.

First time visiting here after hearing many great things about this place. Pad Thai: One of our favorite dishes. The noodle is chewy and the flavor is great (not too sweet and salty). Highly recommend this. Chicken Satay: This is our other favorite dishes. The chicken is tender and well seasoned. This is a great alternative for their popular crying tiger in terms of the portion and pricing. Papaya Salad: I was a bit disappointed with this. The papaya salad is lack of flavoring (specifically the garlic taste). It's not very marinated. Tom Yum Soup: We got a small bowl of the seafood tom yum soup. The portion is great for 2 people, but don't expect too much seafood from it. The flavor is good, so it's still a great soup option. Non-Sweet Sticky Rice: Unlike other places, their sticky rice is served as a dessert, you can still taste the coconut flavor. Most other traditional Thai places serve sticky rice as unsweetened and plain (i.e., jasmine rice soaked overnight). Not really mad about this. The service was absolutely amazing. We made a reservation ahead of time to avoid waiting in line. I'm glad we did because there were already people waiting when we arrived at 6pm. The restaurant is very clean and cozy. Overall, Basil & co. is a great Thai restaurant option in town, but I wouldn't say it is the BEST Thai restaurant I ever had.

Cute and modern boho interior Thai restaurant off the 60 fwy in Diamond Bar. So popular and delicious, there's always a wait whenever I come here. Service is really kind. * pineapple fried rice w veggies (5/5) * house fried rice (5/5) * pad see ew (5/5) * duck curry (4/5) - duck leg is so tender but lowkey could not taste it. Curry is bomb * mango sticky rice (4/5) - personal pref but I like it chilled

Me and my bf love basil & co!!! It hits everytime. The staff is always checking up on us and seeing if we need anything. The chicken satay is SO GOOD. We devoured it. Everything is super flavorful. Mango sticky rice is a must if it's in season. Can't wait to try more dishes on our next visit!

Let's just start with WE WILL BE BACK! The establishment is inside a very busy plaza. There are many options to dining around this little spot. However, I am very happy that we chose this one. The restaurant itself is extremely clean and is very modern. The way they have it setup makes it feel very spacious and you're not on top of everybody. The staff is extremely friendly, and you can tell that they are constantly busy. We regretted pretty much immediately. We were meeting up with some friends so we had about six people all together. They seated us in the corner which was perfect! We were able to have conversations and didn't have to speak any louder than our normal voices. The food was very good overall and they always came to check on us. Many of us ordered hot teas or hot water, which we were very happy that they would come and rewarm them. We ordered several dishes and truly enjoyed them overall. Wonton soup: 4. Broth was light and there were a good amount of wontons. Shrimp and veggies were yummy. Just wished that it came out hot. It was a tad cool. Spicy catfish was yummy, but seemed to be very westernized. It seemed that it was more like batter fish tossed in sauce and veggies. At most restaurants, the fish is more of a deep fry technique with a little bit more flavor. The pad see ewe beef (4) had the perfect texture. It was very well seasoned with a good amount of beef slices and veggies. It is a little bit more on the sweeter side than what we are used to but still very good. Chicken wings (3) We will probably not order this one. It was basically plain fried chicken wings with sauce on the side. It was okay and the flavor wasn't anything that stood out. All the other dishes were very tasty and we would say a 4 rating. It would probably would have been better if those dishes came out a little bit more warmer. Like we said, the food had a good flavor but just didn't have that wow factor or had enough to make it stand out from other Thai restaurants. The overall experience was very good. The service, the food coming atmosphere will definitely be the reason why we would come back!

This place is honestly so good! They've been at a few events that I've attended in past. Location is conveniently close to family, who live nearby so when we are in the area we frequently dine here. The restaurant has nice modern vibe and is inviting, service is quick and attentive. They even serve wine and beer to pair with your meal. Place is always bustling, but we usually don't have to wait long to get seated. All the dishes are fabulous and shareable. We absolutely enjoyed their papaya salad. Unlike Filipino pickled version, there's more like a salad. Dressing is perfectly balance and not too tart. I highly recommend it! Crispy Pork Belly is a great appetizer. It pairs well with the seafood sauce and cucumber salad that comes with it. Chicken satay is also tasty, really like the peanut sauce. The pad thai noodle with chicken is solid as well as Pad Wood Sen (glass noodles). I love the wide noodles they use on Pad See Ew, it helps absorb a lot of savory flavors from garlic and soy sauce. Salmon Panang is delightful and comforting; rich, creamy, slightly spicy and packed with flavor. It's served with a side of white rice. Also, Red Curry Beef is terrific, curry flavor is on point and perfect. Their special Garden Trout is very good. It's basically fried fish topped with mango herb salad which everyone loves. I thought spicy catfish was ok, bit spicy for my palette. The house fried rice and stir fried seasonal vegetables are good accompaniment to your meal. Mango Sticky Rice is so divine and perfect way to cap off your meal. Mangos are always ripe and sweet, even better with ice cream. Don't skip on this! We are always guilty of ordering a little too much but enjoy eating them next day. We can't wait to come back.

    Prawns + Thai shumai, yum

I agree with majority of the reviews, that the experience exceeded expectations- the highlights were the fried prawns w a herbaceous dipping sauce that was excellent, and a neat, fusion item called Thai shumai, which were delicious. Service was friendly, digital transactions only, cash free establishment. 4 stars

    Green Curry
    Kaia H.

My local Thai restaurant of choice! Love their pad see ew but this time I had the green curry and it was also yummy. I would put myself on the waitlist when you're close and expect a bit of a wait because I went at 8pm on a Sunday and we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. Servers were super nice and because we came in kinda late, the kitchen was closing soon so they took our order ahead of time. The place itself is nice and family vibes for sure. I'll be back!

    Tom Kha (Coconut) Soup
    Vince N.

Basil & Co is a modern restaurant boasting traditional thai flavors. It is located by the freeway in Diamond Bar and tucked away in the corner of a plaza. The food here is good, nothing too remarkable but it gives you that warm, hearty feeling you want from traditional cultural cuisine. The tom kha (coconut) soup with shrimp was the highlight of my visit. Absolutely delicious and comes out hot and ready to eat. I can say that the spicy fried rice with chicken was enhanced greatly by the addition of juice from the lime that they provided, but was a bit lacking in flavor at first. Those first two dishes along with the stellar service and beautiful interior warrant 4 or 5 stars easily. However, the pad thai was not my favorite bite of food ever. It came a bit overcooked, the noodles being mushy and soft instead of chewy like I expected. The flavors and taste were solid, with the pad thai being a bit too sweet for my liking, even with the lime. But I did not enjoy the feeling of the noodles in my mouth. Overall, I think this place has lots to ride home about. A beautiful interior design, modernized dining areas, with big glass windows that let in a lot of natural light. The soup here is phenomenal, and the fried rice is good. I think if I came here again and ordered different dishes I would end up giving it 4 or even 5 stars, but that day was not today. Recommend you try it out. 7/10.

The food was amazing here every single plate the noodles, the rice, the mango sticky rice, the wontons, the beer!!! We had multiple servers all of them were sweethearts so nice and friendly and attentive will be coming back

My husband and I were craving Thai food a few days ago, so we went to Basil & Co. in Diamond Bar. I had previously tried their sister restaurant, Ari's Thai Eatery in Azusa, and was satisfied with it. We arrived around 11:00 a.m. and noticed that several tables were already occupied, even though they had just opened at 11 a.m. The place was welcoming with modern decor, and the seats were comfortable. We ordered Red Curry with rice (mild) chicken ($17.99), and Shrimp Pad Thai ($20.99) for both of us. The presentation of both dishes was great, but the Red Curry with chicken was the true standout. Boasting a perfect balance of heat and creaminess, the curry was remarkably savory. The restaurant offers customizable spice levels, allowing you to increase the heat if you prefer a spicier dish. I'm glad I opted for the mild spice level, as it still delivered a satisfying and noticeable kick. The Shrimp Pad Thai was also impressive, featuring a well-executed balance of savory and sweet flavors. The service was great, and it's definitely a great Thai food spot in Diamond Bar, and it deserves 5 stars. One minor issue: the entrance door was stiff. We saw some customers had to pull it several times, leading us to believe the restaurant was not open yet.

It offers a generous portion of tender, juicy meat and springy, fresh noodles. "DELICIOUS!!" I arrived at No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) on Sunday (around 11AM). Parking is easy. The lot is big with many spots. Staff is very friendly and welcoming, but Staff spoke limited English. Fortunately, pointing at the menu was clear enough. The food took eight minutes and nine seconds. Fast time! As mentioned, the Beef Rib Noodle Soup ($16.50 - Mild) is wonderful! It arrived picturesque and delicious!! However, despite ordering "mild," the food has a very strong heat; I sweat nonstop as I ate. The broth is rich, savory, and spicy. The meat is tender, flavorful, and falls off the bone. And the noodles are hefty, soft, and springy. It's a wonderful, euphoric combination of flavors and textures. Concerning ambiance, No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) is surprisingly spacious with its tall ceiling and relatively clean surroundings. However, its walls and furniture look worn down with time. Some seats even had torn holes. Unfortunately, the music uses radio with constant commercials playing in the background. Fortunately, there's a gender neutral restroom in the back. The kids really enjoyed the chicken satay and the peanut sauce was tasty. Papaya salad was decently spicy, but it was good. Pad thai and pineapple fried rice was not bad. Also got the roti with curry, which was a big hit.

The food seemed to be consistent as our last visit. However, I found a bug's leg on my spoon as I was eating... when I got home, I keep burping up heavy msg flavor that I thought it was a one off thing last time. There's only one person serving the food so has to be patient about it. Need to ask them to clean up the table as last party left. Get your own water at the corner. There are pictures of food on the menu items on the wall. It's a hole in a wall kind of place. There seems to be quite a few regulars that like this no frill food. For me personally, I didn't like the msg and seeing a bug's leg so I won't return agin even though the food tastes decent at the moment.

The online menu also allows for less oil, so I decided to go for the healthier option. In general, I like how their menu allows for easily adding and removing toppings from your orders. The house beef noodles even at mild spice can pack a good amount of heat, so I'd give a warning if you have a low tolerance. The zajiang noodles had a great texture, and the flavor was light but still flavorful. I'd definitely order that again but with mild spice next time I make a visit. The restaurant has a nice and clean ambience with space for group and solo seating. Unfortunately, the restaurant was undergoing power issues, so we couldn't use a phone to order. A server took our order and explained that one area of the restaurant was even unlit because of the power issues. The lights briefly went out as well, and the servers were understandably worried about the situation. Thankfully, they quickly turned back on. Payment was conducted via Zelle; the other option was cash.

I've tried quite a few dishes here and honestly everything has been solid. I usually get the house beef noodle but this time I tried the braised pork noodle. The noodles had the perfect bouncy texture, the pork was super tender, and the bok choy added a nice crunch that helped balance the richness of the broth. My friend got the hot and sour chaoshou which was also really good. The dumpling skin was chewy and they were packed with filling. It's also nice that you can customize the oil level in your broth. We ordered the pig ears as an appetizer too. I loved the crunchy texture but the flavor was a bit underwhelming. The initial taste was mostly chili oil and then the flavor kind of disappeared. They have a lot of other great appetizers on the menu so I'd probably skip this one next time. If you're looking for a relaxed spot with consistently good noodles Mian is definitely worth checking out!!

It took about ten minutes for us to get a booth table, but we were waiting inside. The staff member called numbers firstly in Cantonese then in English. After we sat down, the waiting line persisted past 1 pm. Similarly, the bustling loudness continued on during the course of our meal. Food arrived quickly, however. The price point for the delicious food is competitive. We got French-style filet mignon ($18.99), braised tofu in brown sauce ($14.99), chicken chow mein ($14.99), and a steamed rice noodle roll with barbecue pork ($5.99). A pot of rice was included in our meal. The steamed rice noodle roll with barbecue pork was a nice appetizer that arrived first. I enjoyed how the French-style filet mignon was garnished with Thai basil, black pepper, and ginger. The meat was flavorful and tender. The braised tofu in brown sauce was consistently hot on the inside. The delicious brown sauce soaked throughout the vegetables. The chicken chow mein didn't have a lot of sauce, but it was still delicious with a lot of meat included. Overall, it would be nice to visit again outside of a peak time because the food prices are competitive. The menu is expansive, and the breakfast selections look interesting. The atmosphere during the Sunday lunch peak time was consistently bustling. I think the restaurant started to play Chinese music loudly at random points so that people could finish dining more quickly.

Overall, charming, low-key, and absolutely not to be slept on. My partner, whose favorite dish is and has always been spicy beef noodles, after one bite officially crowned their Spicy Beef Noodle as his new favorite, dethroning Noodle Street after a 3-year reign. And honestly... Fair. The broth is insanely deep and rich, and the wide hand-pulled noodles are fresh, long, bouncy, and soak up the flavor like they were built for it. As for me, it looks like my hunt for the perfect Spare Ribs ends here. Crisp on the outside (which I didn't even know was a thing for this dish), perfectly tender inside, and coated in a sauce that hits every pleasure center in my brain. I'd go back just for this dish. This and the Braised Eggplant with Green Beans. The Honey Walnut Shrimp was another win: crisp, light, and not cloyingly sweet. Furnitures and decorations have been rearranged. It feels like they have more than enough seats & tables inside. Food prices are still reasonably affordable and foods are still delicious/authentic in taste. There used to be more employees inside, but today, we didn't see staffing at front counter. Ordered at self service kiosk. I had the all day daily breakfast quick fix: two eggs, hash brown, and toasted garlic baguettes. Simple breakfast much under $10. If I add a meat/sausage/SPAM/etc., I would pay a few bucks more. Everything tasted exactly as expected. Older Uncle cooking inside was busy and multiple tasking as usual with online app takeout orders. The beef macaroni soup was also exactly as described and comes with a beverage of choice (iced honey lemon beverage for us). Huge food portions. Good flavors. No complaints. Very satisfied. Maybe we are more simple to please with general Hong Kong street comfort foods. Overall, I do hope they can stay open and not shutdown like other locations during high inflation times.
