Everything here was so amazing! It's the best Thai food I've ever had in SoCal! I was in the area and we got a couple things to try. The pad thai was so flavorful and the calamari was crispy with a really tasty sour sauce on the side. The Thai teas were also the perfect amount of sweet and creamy. I'd also recommend the green curry. Basically everything we got. Oh especially the chicken satay! I loved that it wasn't on a skewer and it felt like they gave more than I'm used to getting at a restaurant. You can expect a bustling and vibrant ambience during this time. We got several dishes: drunken noodles, pad see ew, house fried rice, and yellow pumpkin curry. Each dish came with our choice of protein; the options without an extra cost were chicken, pork, tofu, and vegetables. First time visiting here after hearing many great things about this place. Pad Thai: One of our favorite dishes. The noodle is chewy and the flavor is great (not too sweet and salty). Highly recommend this. Chicken Satay: This is our other favorite dishes. The chicken is tender and well seasoned. This is a great alternative for their popular crying tiger in terms of the portion and pricing. Papaya Salad: I was a bit disappointed with this. The papaya salad is lack of flavoring (specifically the garlic taste). It's not very marinated. Tom Yum Soup: We got a small bowl of the seafood tom yum soup. The portion is great for 2 people, but don't expect too much seafood from it. The flavor is good, so it's still a great soup option. Non-Sweet Sticky Rice: Unlike other places, their sticky rice is served as a dessert, you can still taste the coconut flavor. Most other traditional Thai places serve sticky rice as unsweetened and plain (i.e., jasmine rice soaked overnight). Not really mad about this. The service was absolutely amazing. Let's just start with WE WILL BE BACK! The establishment is inside a very busy plaza. There are many options to dining around this little spot. However, I am very happy that we chose this one. The restaurant itself is extremely clean and is very modern. The way they have it setup makes it feel very spacious and you're not on top of everybody. The staff is extremely friendly, and you can tell that they are constantly busy. We regretted pretty much immediately. We were meeting up with some friends so we had about six people all together. They seated us in the corner which was perfect! We were able to have conversations and didn't have to speak any louder than our normal voices. The food was very good overall and they always came to check on us. Many of us ordered hot teas or hot water, which we were very happy that they would come and rewarm them. We ordered several dishes and truly enjoyed them overall. Wonton soup: 4. Broth was light and there were a good amount of wontons. Shrimp and veggies were yummy. Just wished that it came out hot. It was a tad cool. Spicy catfish was yummy, but seemed to be very westernized. It seemed that it was more like batter fish tossed in sauce and veggies. At most restaurants, the fish is more of a deep fry technique with a little bit more flavor. The pad see ewe beef (4) had the perfect texture. It was very well seasoned with a good amount of beef slices and veggies. It is a little bit more on the sweeter side than what we are used to but still very good. Chicken wings (3) We will probably not order this one. It was basically plain fried chicken wings with sauce on the side. It was okay and the flavor wasn't anything that stood out. All the other dishes were very tasty and we would say a 4 rating. It would probably would have been better if those dishes came out a little bit more warmer. This place is honestly so good! They've been at a few events that I've attended in past. Location is conveniently close to family, who live nearby so when we are in the area we frequently dine here. The restaurant has nice modern vibe and is inviting, service is quick and attentive. They even serve wine and beer to pair with your meal. Unlike Filipino pickled version, there's more like a salad. Dressing is perfectly balance and not too tart. I highly recommend it! Crispy Pork Belly is a great appetizer. It pairs well with the seafood sauce and cucumber salad that comes with it. Chicken satay is also tasty, really like the peanut sauce. The pad thai noodle with chicken is solid as well as Pad Wood Sen (glass noodles). I love the wide noodles they use on Pad See Ew, it helps absorb a lot of savory flavors from garlic and soy sauce. Salmon Panang is delightful and comforting; rich, creamy, slightly spicy and packed with flavor. It's served with a side of white rice. Also, Red Curry Beef is terrific, curry flavor is on point and perfect. Their special Garden Trout is very good. It's basically fried fish topped with mango herb salad which everyone loves. I thought spicy catfish was ok, bit spicy for my palette. The house fried rice and stir fried seasonal vegetables are good accompaniment to your meal. I would put myself on the waitlist when you're close and expect a bit of a wait because I went at 8pm on a Sunday and we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. Basil & Co is a modern restaurant boasting traditional thai flavors. It is located by the freeway in Diamond Bar and tucked away in the corner of a plaza. The food here is good, nothing too remarkable but it gives you that warm, hearty feeling you want from traditional cultural cuisine. The tom kha (coconut) soup with shrimp was the highlight of my visit. Absolutely delicious and comes out hot and ready to eat. I can say that the spicy fried rice with chicken was enhanced greatly by the addition of juice from the lime that they provided, but was a bit lacking in flavor at first. Those first two dishes along with the stellar service and beautiful interior warrant 4 or 5 stars easily. However, the pad thai was not my favorite bite of food ever. It came a bit overcooked, the noodles being mushy and soft instead of chewy like I expected. The flavors and taste were solid, with the pad thai being a bit too sweet for my liking, even with the lime. But I did not enjoy the feeling of the noodles in my mouth. Overall, I think this place has lots to ride home about. A beautiful interior design, modernized dining areas, with big glass windows that let in a lot of natural light. The soup here is phenomenal, and the fried rice is good. I think if I came here again and ordered different dishes I would end up giving it 4 or even 5 stars, but that day was not today. My husband and I were craving Thai food a few days ago, so we went to Basil & Co. in Diamond Bar. I had previously tried their sister restaurant, Ari's Thai Eatery in Azusa, and was satisfied with it. We arrived around 11:00 a.m. and noticed that several tables were already occupied, even though they had just opened at 11 a.m. The place was welcoming with modern decor, and the seats were comfortable. We ordered Red Curry with rice (mild) chicken ($17.99), and Shrimp Pad Thai ($20.99) for both of us. The presentation of both dishes was great, but the Red Curry with chicken was the true standout. Boasting a perfect balance of heat and creaminess, the curry was remarkably savory. The restaurant offers customizable spice levels, allowing you to increase the heat if you prefer a spicier dish. I'm glad I opted for the mild spice level, as it still delivered a satisfying and noticeable kick. The Shrimp Pad Thai was also impressive, featuring a well-executed balance of savory and sweet flavors. The service was great, and it's definitely a great Thai food spot in Diamond Bar, and it deserves 5 stars. One minor issue: the entrance door was stiff. Came in on Mother's Day around dinner rush, so I want to give some grace because I know how brutal restaurant holidays can get, I'm a server myself. Unfortunately, service was rough from the start. We sat for about 10 minutes without being greeted or even acknowledged. Honestly, even a quick "I'll be right with you" would've gone a long way. Instead, our server (young woman with tattoos) continued helping the tables to our left and right before finally coming back to us. Drinks also took a while to come out, and although she took our order, she never once checked back on us afterward. The restaurant itself was actually very nice inside and the temperature was perfect, especially considering how packed it was. To be fair, other staff members did step in and help throughout the night. Howard the busser was extremely attentive with drink refills, and another server helped bring requested sides like peanuts for the Pad Thai, the chili platter, and our to-go boxes. Honestly, they helped save the experience. Food: * Chicken Pad Thai -- 4.5/5 Really good flavor and portion. * Tom Yum Shrimp Soup -- 5/5 Flavor was excellent and definitely the highlight of the meal, though the shrimp upcharge was only about 5 pieces so the portion felt a little light for the extra cost. * Papaya Salad (+ shrimp) -- 3/5 Needed to be colder and the sauce lacked a little punch. Our Pad Thai was also accidentally delivered to the table next to us first, though thankfully they caught it immediately and it was brought over quickly. We chose this restaurant to celebrate a birthday lunch with a party of six, and unfortunately the experience started off very poorly. Two of us arrived first and were seated while waiting for the other four members of our group, who were delayed by traffic and expected to arrive within about 10 minutes. Instead of showing any understanding, the waiter rudely informed us that if the rest of our party did not arrive within five minutes, we would have to leave the table and wait outside. This happened on a very hot afternoon, and being told to stand outside after already being seated was both embarrassing and frustrating. A little courtesy and flexibility would have gone a long way, especially since we were there to celebrate a special occasion and our full party was arriving shortly. To make matters worse, the food did not make up for the poor service. The dishes were average at best and lacked the quality and flavor we expected based on the reviews. My sister wanted Thai food during her visit and our favorite Thai restaurant in West Covina closed down.. Luckily I remembered that this place existed and it wasn't too far from all of us (all coming from different areas - LA, the Valley... okay it was far for those from the Valley LOL), Rowland Heights). They keep a few chairs outside for those waiting to be seated. We waited in the car because it was a cold night. We had put our name in at the front when we arrived and was told it was about a 30 minute wait but that everyone needed to be here to get seated. They wouldn't seat us till our entire party (a party of 8 plus a baby) was present so just a heads up on that. There were 2 other parties about the same size as ours so that took up most of the restaurant. But once we were seated, our waitress greeted us right away getting our drinks order and asking if we wanted any appetizers. We were ready to order since we've been looking at the menu during our 30 minute wait. We got the crispy egg rolls for the tablr and pretty much ordered a bunch of dishes to share family style. Pad Thai. Drinking Noodles. Pad See Ew. Cucumber Salad. Tom Kha (Coconut) Soup. Crab Fried Rice. Crispy Banana Rolls for dessert. We wanted mango sticky rice but they were sold out - we're gonna try that next time. This place is popular and after eating there (my 3rd time btw), I can see why. The ambiance is good. We had a group of six and we ordered a number of curries, noodles, rice and vegetable dishes. The food came out quickly and was flavorful and delicious. We went low spice to accommodate the kids but their hot sauce with bird eye chili's packs quite the punch. We ended with a tasty order of mango and sticky rice. Trying out this place for the first time. Surprised that on a Tuesday night this place is packed! We were seated right away with swift service. We ordered drunken noodle and braised duck noodle soup. Food came out quick. We also ordered Thai tea, but it didn't come even after we got our food. Apparently our server didn't put that in or forgot. Another server quick took our drink order and made for us. Place echos a lot with the hard wall and the acoustic with customers talking loudly. That's alright. I like the light with the bamboo covered lighting. But they also decorated the walls with cheap looking balloons for Easter and St. Patrick's Day totally cheapened the entire vibe of the restaurant. Tidy, welcoming, and modern. Visited for lunch and it was a completely pleasant experience. Margareth (our server) was kind, accommodating, and friendly. Our drinks stayed filled w/o us having to ask and she even offered a sample of the Vietnamese coffee, before we pulled the trigger to order it. Her service matched with the food quality & restaurant setting. All our food came out hot, quickly, and accurate. It was our first visit, but we will definitely be returning. Every dish we had was delicious from the Panang Curry chicken, to the house fried rice and drunken noodles. Everything tasted amazing!! One thing that blew my mind is that you can order your Thai iced tea with alternative milk so we had ours with oat milk! The service is outstanding, upbeat, friendly and accommodating.
