It's been a while since I visited Sheng Hui Dim Sum, and their food is still solid. They are open Monday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (closed Tuesday-Thursday). Their business hours are 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays, and they stay open until 4:00 p.m. on weekends. We ordered the Har Gow, Shiu Mai, Steamed Chicken Feet, Sesame Balls, and the Steamed Sausage & Sticky Bun. Everything was authentic, freshly prepared, and delicious. The Har Gow and Shiu Mai were notably large and high quality. My personal favorite is the Steam Sausage & Sticky Bun. It's a traditional Hong Kong dish that is becoming rare even in HK, so finding it here was a treat. This place is a true hidden gem in West Covina. The pricing starts from $5.88, and most dishes are about $5.93, and a few dishes are $6-8. (they do have a small seating area outside that can accommodate 4 people) Runs by a husband and wife team closed at 4 pm and opens on Monday , Friday-Sunday ( closed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) Many great deals offer daily , buy one get one items is a no brainer . This was my first time here. I found this place via a Google search. I ordered my typical favorites, Har Gow, Pork Shui Mai with Mushroom Roe, steamed chicken feet, Curd Roll, and steamed garlic spare rib. It was a little wait for the food. While waiting, I was thinking that it would suck to wait and then be disappointed by the food. We broke open the food and started eating in the car. BOY, this food did not disappoint! It was piping hot, and the food was delicious. I started to hate Har Gow several years ago, eating at the 99 Ranch and other dim sum places that made it. This little mom and pop shop truly is a hidden gem. The couple who runs this place are hard working people who put love in what they do. On the days they're closed, they're prepping and making all of their dim sum by themselves. Their prices are a little higher than dim sum restaurants but everything is fresh and not bought frozen and reheated like many places. The restaurant is pick up and to-go dim sum. They do have a table outside to eat. The staff was welcoming and all smiles. A warm family type of welcome for sure. But, but, but...Sheng Hui Dim Sum is now my go-to takeout spot whenever I am craving some no-fuss dim sum! On this visit, I came in mid-afternoon, so there was no line here. There was one lady working there and she gave me a sheet of paper to mark the items I wanted. I ordered some Shrimp Dumpling (Ha Gow), the Siu Mai, and of course my favorite...the Chicken Feet. All were incredibly meaty, delicious, and a good price compared to other cafe-style places. Average per dim sum is about $5-$6. So I would say about $15-$17 spent here, or about 3 items (depends what you order...) should be a good meal for ya. Of course bigger orders you will get much more. So as this is a takeout place, there wasn't any seating that I saw inside. You can come in and place your order in-person, or you can phone in your order. I saw the lady take a phone order, so there! lol. This is a street-facing location, but you can park on the street, or park in the lot that's shared with the laundromat that's next door. Was craving dim sum but there aren't that many options around Covina/west Covina. Given it was a weekend, I also did not want to go into a traditional dim sum spot and wait forever for an order so I found Sheng Hui Dim Sum. They are a fast food dim sum spot. Only 1 table outside of the restaurant if you want to eat there. Loved that I was able to order online. It was easy and quick. The restaurant itself was located on the corner of a tiny plaza so be sure to turn into the parking lot before driving to where it is actually directing you to the restaurant. I ordered the typical tripe, turnip/daikon cake, bean curd wrapped in oyster sauce, chicken buns, and shui mai. The only thing that's not too typical for dim sum was curry fish balls. The owner was really nice and possibly promoting her location and she offered me a free order of seaweed shrimp roll. Quality is not bad for a fast spot. My favorite order is probably the curry fish balls and the tripe. The fish balls are a bit spicy, which I love. read more

Siu mai is my favorite dim sum item and they make it very well. Tastes just like in Chinese restaurants, and the dumpling size is huge (+ their shrimp on top of dumplings!!)! This place is my go to spot every time I want to serve shumai on parties and family gatherings. No dine-in, just for to go run by hard working, friendly and accommodating individuals (maybe one family?) This is just a hole in a wall type of dim sum place with a counter and open space where see all the food prep but their Shumai is so good, cheaper and huge compared to any dim sum place around the area. I was craving some dim sum today and decided to give this place a try. It's located at the corner of an intersection with parking in the back. It's a small little to-go only place without dine-in option. I ordered the garlic spear ribs and fish sui mai. The garlic spear ribs, man, it's the best that I've had for a while. It has really good flavor and a decent portion. For the price, it's good. I also ordered fish sui mai which is alright. I think it might be streamed for too long that it's kind of dry when I ate it. It's a tiny hole in the wall restaurant with no seats, doing all to-go orders. When I say tiny you walk in and it's immediately the order counter and immediately behind that is the kitchen. There were only 2 people working which looked like the mom and pop that runs the store (also saw a little kid so i'm guessing that's their child). Food was okay, some good some could be better. The shu mai was a little dry and more firm than I expected. Steamed sausage and chicken rice was good (big thanks to the soy sauce mix) but the rice was a bit mushy. Everything else was just okay. Not sure if there were miscommunication or language barrier but there were some missing items while taking our order. Once we got home we realized some items were missing from the order sheet (it wasn't noted down) and one of the item we ordered wasn't in the bag. I called the number listed a few times before getting ahold of them to let them know and see our options. We went back and forth a few times with her being adamant that they didn't forget anything. Craving some good dim sum, but don't feel like driving all the way to the City of San Gabriel or Monterey Park. There's a decent place in El Monte, but because of Covid, they're menu is limited. Checking Yelp, found this place that looks pretty decent. Place is a small hole in the wall, mom and pop owned, parking lot in the rear. There is a small table with a menu with pictures and a stack of order forms that you fill out yourself, fairly easy as the items list corresponds with the number on the picture, you then give the order form to the lady behind the counter, they will give you a pager that will go off when your order is ready for pick up. Lady was nice and helpful. So the food itself, we ordered a variety of different dim sums, like shrimp and pork dumplings, sticky rice balls, sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf, beef balls, daikon potato cakes, tofu skin wrapped pork dumplings and a chicken rice plate. To make a long story short, the best was the sticky rice balls and sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf, the worst was the chicken rice, portions were pretty small, very little chicken, very little Chinese sausage over very little rice, a hint of soy sauce shown on the rice, barely any flavor and the most expensive, all other dishes were OK. So on average, it was a hit or a miss or just ok, depending on what you order, as for me, I would come back, but I would have to be in the area, craving those sticky rice dishes. 3 stars from me, just OK! read more

**update** Unfortunately I need to take a couple stars off, and share the experience and what to do for the consumers. I usually order over 8 dishes for take out whenever I came. There are incidents they charge the money but short in the actual. It happened to my last order and the order today. Totally loss is about $12 which I could use another meal. Advice- They always tie the bag for the pick up. I recommend everyone to open the bag and count your orders carefully. You should try to order over the phone, instead of onsite. This is to make sure you don't need to go through the troubles of refund and waiting. *check the orders before you pay. The food is decent but not worth of the risk anymore. Who knew you would find a legit dim sum place here? Some may think sketchy because of location but it is def not. As usual, I went overboard and got 15 orders! Must get is their shiu mai and bean curd roll. Others I got and liked: steamed shrimp dumpling, shanghai pork dumplings, chicken feet. Their egg custard bun was sweet and salty (salted duck egg?) - not quite my taste because I don't like salted eggs. We got the: 1) Shrimp Har Gow (3pc/order): -The filling inside is really good. -Har gow is my favorite dim sum dish, but unfortunately the outside of the har gow was a bit mushy. That's my only qualm. 2) Roe Mushroom & Pork Shrimp ShiuMai (4pc/order): -Huge pieces, not bad. It's enjoyable. 3) Steamed Egg Custard Bun (3pc/order): -WORST custard bun I've had. Like it on an off note it literally farts in your mouth when you take a bite LOL, but the custard is super eggy and super runny. Not very delectable at all. 4) Sticky Rice wrapped with Lotus Leaf (2pc/order): -One of our favorites from our order. -Bits of mushroom and meat inside. The rice is savory and the texture isn't too sticky nor dry. 5) Shrimp and Pork Wontons in Spicy Sauce (7pc/order): -SUPER SPICY. Also a favorite of the order. -The outside is a bit dough-y but the spice made up for it in my opinion. 6) Pan Fried Daikon Cake (3pc/order): -Not bad. Slightly savory and I liked the crispy parts. -A pretty good palette cleanser when everything else gets a bit too oily. 7) Steamed Garlic Spare Ribs: -Nicely seasoned and came with bits of pumpkin (which I really liked). -I'm not a fan of bone in things (yes am baby, but I digress), but it was decent. So I had to update my review because I have no idea what happened if the husband and wife got lazy or tired after Covid and during Covid cause food is no longer good here. I ordered to go chicken with Chinese sausage and rice cause I needed something comforting and easy but seriously they served some nasty sticky old raw chicken. I swear it was really old and I took one bite and threw the whole thing out. The Chinese sausage seemed like it was also recycled. The funny thing is I used to dine in when they first opened and ordered to go even for my company lunch and they do me like that? Not cool.
