    Lobster

First, I have to say, you need reservations when trying to come here. We got here at 5pm, and the lady immediately asked us if we had one. We did not, and it sounded like we weren't going to be able to dine here, but luckily, she gave us a table and said since we are here early, they would give us one. Honestly I thought the food here was pretty good, we ordered the types of items we liked. We had the Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetables, Seafood and Tofu Claypot, Beef Brisket with Daikons, Crispy Pork Hock, Salted Fish Meat Patty, and Fried Lobster. Majority of the items we ordered were delicious and freshly made. The fried lobster was not made correctly and up to par, as it should have been made as we requested. Overall, I liked the food here, most items were tasty and the service was decent, they weren't the best at being attentive, but cannot expect much for a Chinese restaurant.

Celebrating my dad's b-day and wanted to try this place since it re-opened under new name. We have been dining at the Food To Go location for 12+ years (Roast meats & Dim Sum), so we wanted to see how the sit down restaurant was. We were immediately seated and served hot tea & peanuts. The place is set up nicely and can host very large parties/banquets and they off private rooms as well. Our waiter was professional and took our order. We opted for four dishes: Chicken with mushrooms, Cauliflower & preserved meats (Chinese Bacon & Chinese Sausage), Salt & Pepper Squid and Steam Pork Patty w/Salted Fish (not a lot of establishments offer this). Everything came out fast, fresh & hot and it all was seasoned well. The chicken & pork dishes were so tender, never had experienced this before. At the end of our meal they served us a traditional sweet soup. The entire wait staff was friendly & accommodating. We will definitely be back.

Came here a couple of times for different dishes and overall they are very good. The chef actually have skills to cook dishes you normally can't find in regular restaurants. The winter melon soup needs to be reserved. The seafood is excellent. Sticky rick is recommended. The walnut dessert is to die for. Freshly made. Wait staff is really friendly and wonderful.

I was apprehensive about dining here after reading the reviews, but it was a family dinner and I didn't have a choice. My aunt-in-law mentioned eating here about 10 years ago, while other reviews suggest they opened less than a year ago. I know they have a long-standing restaurant in Alhambra. We went on a Friday night, and the dining room was mostly empty. There was one large party and a few other tables, so it didn't seem like business was very busy. Upon entering, I noticed the health grade was a B, which made me a bit concerned about the cleanliness. We ordered 10 dishes, including duck, claypot lamb, honey walnut shrimp, French-style beef, stir-fry shrimp with vegetables, Singapore noodles, and others. The Singapore noodles were my favorite - the mild spice was perfect, and I would return just for that dish. The other dishes were good, but nothing special.

Mom approved. Order too much Table almost didn't fit. Best was beancurd poll with oyster sauce Lunch specials available too Name is changed to TOP ISLAND seafood restaurant

Found my new favorite spot in Rowland Heights! Top Island serves amazing dishes;the Sliced Chicken with Straw Mushrooms and Squid with Shrimp Sauce were cooked to perfection. The best part? They constantly offer great discounts. Feeding 5 people for only $80 with plenty of leftovers to pack home is unbeatable. 5 stars!

This review is for their deli department only. The foods have dropped off a lot since Top Island took over. Now the dumpling has mostly peanuts in them not much meat or vegetables. The egg tart and the chun fun were ok. I really come to get the soy sauce chicken. It was a good looking chicken with all skin in tact and the head looking proud. The chicken was close to $30.00...expensive.... Both it is for ceremony, so it is ok. Ray out

The Top Island in Rowland Heights has opened up and it is on Nogales Blvd. I came here early with a large group of people for dim sum. The place looks clean and new. We ordered a lot of food but since many are pork I didn't really eat a lot of the dishes. The safe food that I did try was mainly shrimp dishes and seafood options. They were delicious! Overall my friends did enjoy the dim sum and would come back here again.

    crispy seaweed roll = $6.39

I was looking for a new place to dim sum found myself here. All dim sum dishes are $6.39 a dish. They're all created equal apparently. We ordered our favorites: -steamed pork & shrimp dumplings ~ siu mai -spare ribs in black bean sauce -bean curd roll with oyster sauce -deep fried pork dumpling -fried white radish patty with shrimp -deep fried shrimp ball -crispy seaweed roll Undercooked is the best way to describe all the fried dishes. The radish patty, shrimp ball, and crispy seaweed roll were all kinda mushy in texture. The crispy seaweed roll fared worse of the three - the seaweed was so chewy and hard to cleanly bite without having to do a shake and wiggle between my teeth. The siu mai was also mush city. To be honest, there was something a little off with each one of the dishes. Of the dishes, I liked the deep fried pork. The ball of dough was nicely crisped on the exterior. The filling tasted exactly how I expected it to. Delish. Top Island was a nice change to my usual dim sum rolodex. Good to try something new, but back to the old.

Good Choice For Authentic Cantonese Food..... Our favorite restaurant when visiting family in Rowland Heights was New Capital. We still like it a lot, but we tried Top Island for dinner during the Thanksgiving weekend. It's a challenger to New Capital. - Overall: 5 - Location: 5 - Exterior: 3 - Ambiance: 4 - Menu: 5 - Food Quality: 5 - Food Portion: 5 - Service: 4 - Price and Value: 5 - Parking: 5 - Bathroom: 4 Pros: - Location: Central to Rowland Heights, Diamond Bar and nearby cities. Along Nogales Ave not far from Colima Road and Highway 60. - Menu: Ton of variety. It's in Chinese...as expected...but our extended family grew up with that language. It helps to have an interpreter. - Ambiance: Spacious. It reminded us of a very big ballroom with an array of round tables for 8, 10 and 12 people. Similar Chinese restaurants are also large, but Top Island had more air to breathe. In addition, there are 2 private rooms on the left side as you enter the building. - Food: Excellent. I'm a pescatarian, but the 10 other people at my table vouched for the quality of the dishes which were served family style. I ate from platters of vegetables, shrimp fried rice and lobster. Everything was fine, although the lobster meat was unusually hard to extract. - Service: Attentive and friendly. A few people even cracked a wide smile, but they were helpful. - Price and Value: Lots of good food for a fair price. - Parking: No problem. There's a big lot in the front. - Bathroom: Not bad. The Women's Room is in the back on the left side while the Men's Room is on the right. It was fairly clean when I arrived. Cons: - Exterior: Meh. Not bad, but a big space that can be found in almost any suburban strip mall. Based on comments from around the table, we'll return to Top Island on our next visit to LA.

Large Cantonese type restaurant. Ample parking outside. Service is typical Cantonese - pleasant and quick. Looks like they've freshened up the place from previous. Decor is Asian modern and fresh. We ordered a few dim sum items and everything came out quickly and fresh. They had a few specials dishes going on, one of them being lobster and noodles for $21.99. What a bargain. Dish was a good size and had a good amount of lobster. We couldn't finish and had to take it back as leftovers. Always good to have a traditional Cantonese style restaurant in the area.

My first time at Top Island and we came for a small banquet They sectioned 7 tables off for our party and it felt private and secluded The hosts of our party already chose a set menu and the food was delicious! The portions were larger than average and each dish came out flavorful (slightly on the saltier side) and piping hot. The service was excellent as well. The wait staff as well as manager were quite friendly. Food came out quick (too quick as the older crowd might say). Overall a good experience!

Very good prices for the lobster noodles and dim sum. You can't expect much in terms of service, but it's decent overall. The staff does refill hot water for the teapots, and they'll replace plates when asked. The restaurant is clean overall, with no unpleasant odors.

What a unique experience!…read more Grilling, bbq-ing, etc is a norm but steaming your food on the table? Now that's something else! I really enjoyed the dinner I had, they offer lots of options, from freshly made buns, dumplings to fresh seafood. The menu is pretty extensive and they also offer cooked dishes from the kitchen. The staff are very helpful and friendly. They made sure we get the best experience as it was our first time dining at this place. We had the big eye fish as they called it and they steamed it at the other empty table because our buns and dumplings were steaming at the same time to save time. They finish the fish at the kitchen with the hot oil and sauce. We also had the pork and shrimp buns, and beef dumplings. They were delicious! You can make your sauce at the station too and they provide good options. We also got the baby oysters appetizer that was soaking in some sort of light soy sauce marinade. Also got the soft shell crab and you get 3 whole crabs for $10! It was so worth it! The whole restaurant looked clean and inviting. The booths were spacious. I would definitely come back here and try other dishes!
