I've been coming here for years when I lived in California with my best friend and her husband. Nice to know it's still the same as in friendliness, cleanliness and hospitality. Greeted with a smile, friendly attitude and we were seated right away than again it is a Tuesday night and in the past we've gone on Friday nights and Saturday nights and it's busy so bare with them. We were seated and our waitress came got our order, since we've been here before but they will explain how things go if your new and order was placed our food came out quickly and it was hot and delicious. The seasoning was AMAZING and i didn't know they have gumbo on the menu which is delicious, my corn was nice and tender and juicy my potatoes were on point as well and the shrimp was bomb dot com! First time at The Boiling Crab! I'm not too adventurous when it comes to seafood, so I decided to order a bag with the whole shabang sauce, potato, corn, egg, and sausage. I also ordered a side of chicken tenders to mix into the bag. It turned out great! Highly recommend for those who aren't big into seafood but still want a seafood boil experience. Our server, Kyle, was really friendly and informative. He's very knowledgeable about what the menu offers and kindly brought out extra lemons as requested. The only thing I'd like to point out is that the wait is pretty extreme on the weekends. Our wait was 2 hours, but it could easily be 3 during peak hours. I haven't had boiling crab in so long and this trip did not disappoint! The wait is always long so I recommend going on the waitlist beforehand. We waited about 45 minutes until we were seated and we got right to ordering! We ordered the crabber fries with Cajun spice in mild, soft shell crab with Cajun fries in medium, 2lbs shrimp xxs, 1.5lbs shrimp medium, 1lb crawfish medium, sausage and corn with the shabang sauce and it was delicious! The fries were super crispy and seafood tasted fresh, and our bag came with soo much sausage so we were definitely filled by the end. Service was quick and it was very spacious inside. From what I could tell, Boiling Crab is the crossroads for seafood lovers looking to get messy and wear bibs. And looking to see what the fuss of positive reviews was about, I decided to drop by for a to-go order. For this order, I chose to try their Mild Fried Softshell Crab Basket ($17) and 2 Links of Sausage with Garlic Seasoning ($17). Opening up the crab basket, I could make out two softshell crabs divided into 4 pieces total. Each crab was about the size of my palm which was somewhat small, but I suppose is the standard size for softshell crab. And layering the bottom of the basket were some french fries with seasoning. Looking at this dish, you could definitely get more quantity for the price point. And after eating this bowl, I was feeling somewhat hungry. On the other hand, the two sausage links had a much higher price to portion ratio. Because of the thick cuts for each sausage, it was very satisfying to eat. The accompanying sauce helped to add some flavor to the additional rice I ordered which created some breaks from eating the meat. Taste-wise, the softshell crab tasted like a seafood paste, and disappeared in the matter of a few bites. The fries had a light peppered seasoning to them, but overall did not complement much with the crab. As for the sausages, each piece was spiced perfectly with a seasoned kick. The garlic sauce added an extra layer of spice that gave moisture to the entire dish. And for last, the sausages retained moisture which helped to make the dish easy to eat. My first experience at Boiling Crab was a mixed one to say the least. While the 2 sausage links were great from a taste and price to portion standpoint, the softshell crab basket fell through. Others here have suggested the seafood boils are the dishes to try, so I'll definitely have to give those a go the next time I come around. But otherwise, I'd say Boiling Crab sits at a solid 4 star rating. Rich, flavorful food for those looking for seafood and beyond. read more

My daughter and her friends love The Boiling Crab. We came on a Thursday night and had a slight wait. Nothing to serious as we used Yelp to place our names on the list. This place is for true seafood lovers who love to get dirty and hunt for the last juicy bite. It is messy, you do wear a bib and they give you gloves to use if you need them. We ordered a 1lb of shrimp and 1lb of snow crab legs, extra sauce and two bowls of white rice. The shrimp were really big and the crab legs were meaty. My daughter is a pro so she was able to tear into the shrimp no problem. For me, it was a bit more messy. Especially the front person who checked us in, and our waitress Aaliyah! She was super sweet and was very patient with our group of 7! Also just a heads up you can't be on the waitlist thru Yelp if your party is bigger than 6, you have to do it in person booo. Our fave is the shrimp whole shabang mild, with corn and sausage. Their lemon and salt and pepper mixture is good. We also got their Margaritas that are pretty strong and sweet. My kids got the kids chicken tenders with fries. That's kinda the only thing for kids but it worked. My go to order is 1lb shrimp medium spice with the whole sha bang. I add a corn every now and then. Those could get a bit expensive so it's really when I want to treat myself. I also get the crab fries. I just started getting those over the calamari and it's the best! This location is pretty big so there's tons of people inside. I forgot our servers name but he was so attentive towards us the entire time which was really nice. We really felt taken care of. Overall had a great experience. If you don't come here when the doors open then you'll be waiting forever. The vibe is cool - with a beachy/shipwreck theme going. The inside is big with lots of tables. Tastes like i remembered - great. Got shrimp, corn, potatoes and a boiled egg with the Sha-Bang sauce (mild) and sausage. The flavors are great - buttery, lemony, peppery, and juicy. It's always a good time coming here to boiling crab! I always get the same thing of just a pound of shrimp. Super delicious! My fiancé and I love to get the oyster appetizer and sweet potato fries. However, the oysters tasted kinda funky the last time we came. My fiancé couldn't even finish his portion and I had to finish them for him. So sometimes I'll say their oysters are a hit or miss. I will say that there is usually almost always a long wait depending on the time and day you come, but I definitely recommend joining the Yelp waitlist online. So definitely check in on the waitlist on yelp or else you be waiting like 3hr+ I feel like this BC is the most lively of the other BC that I've been to. I'm a basic person so I go with their Shrimp, Whole Sha-bang medium and sometimes with a sausage if i'm feeling up to it. Most of their shrimps are fresh and you would occasionally get some soft and mushy shrimp. But, the sauce is the real reason why you come, tons of cajun buttery spicy goodness that goes over rice so well. Unfortunately, the rice has been underdone each time i've gotten it, but drench it in sauce and you'll be alright. The wife gets potatos with her bag and its always cooked to perfection, holds it shape but moment you bite into it kinda of a mash potato texture. Fries are always a hit, probably one of the best fries from a restaurant i've gotten. There has been times where I get 2 orders. Parking is horrible, it is shared with tons of other popular stores so plan accordingly. Food, atmosphere, and service is great. Parking, wait time sucks. Highly recommended. This location is much larger than the Rosemead and Alhambra locations. If you plan on visiting get on the yelp waitlist asap. It gets busy fast! Went to the Boiling Crab in Rowland Heights for the first time and it was super! The seafood was so fresh and tasty, as were the add-ons (eggs, corn, potatoes). We got the shebang. Mild seasoning, which was delicious and only produced a slight tingling of the tongue so that you could taste the food. But the real star was our waiter, Isaiah. He was hustling and had a few large parties in addition to smaller tables like ours. We didn't want for anything. The place is great! I'm not sure if it was just the staff working at the time went but what happened was that we ordered rice, didn't receive a spoon, so we asked for one. They said they'd be back with one, the bring our food still no spoon so we asked again. They said the same thing they'll be right back with it. Even asked other staff that came up to us to see how it's going and we asked them and still never got a spoon. I had to get up and go ask for the spoon which they had right there. Been a long-time Boiling Crab fan, I even ate at the original Brookhurst location in Westminster, CA when it first opened, and I've visited nearly all their locations since. Lately, though, I've noticed the flavor and quality slipping a bit. The oysters used to have that clean, briny taste, but that's become less noticeable. The shrimp also feels soft after boiling, which usually means it isn't as fresh as it should be. The fries are still great, and the fried soft-shell crab was a nice addition to the meal.
