Always packed, fast service, but too expensive for what the food is. The shrimp was the highlight of the meal, chicken cartilage was a let down flavor wise, and the soup and noodles were very average. Fish was very fresh, you get to pick your fish so the meat is very firm and soft.

My friend wanted to come here, so I said why not. It's definitely a classic spot. I didn't see any carts, but as long as the food is good, I don't mind. The place was pretty busy. We ordered quite a few dishes that I haven't seen at other dim sum spots before, which was a nice surprise. The food was definitely good, but the overall wait time wasn't great. We were seated pretty quickly and didn't have to wait long for a table, but the ordering wait time was terrible. It was hard to flag someone down to take our order. I think we spent the majority of the time just waiting for someone to take our paper, and it was frustrating because they would say, "Oh, I'll be back," but then never came back. At one point, one of our dishes was also forgotten, and we had to ask about it several times... so there was that. Overall, the food was good, but the wait time and organization of the service could definitely be improved.

Classic Chinese seafood restaurant with lazy Susan tables and endless menu. The interior of the restaurant is huge with many tables, yet always seems to be packed. Service here is also classic Chinese seafood restaurant - but I come for the food. All dishes are tasty and authentic here. A bit pricey, but worth it!

This review is for hosting a WEDDING banquet at Happy Harbor in Rowland Heights. I helped plan a wedding here. I have to say it was tough at first because they do not have a designated event coordinator. There was a lot of back and forth. What was really helpful was the main guy spoke English, Cantonese, and Mandarin! Ultimately you need the wedding date and the number of guests. You choose the menu, napkin color, and table cloth color. Extras: They had two microphones with stands and a small stage for the sweetheart table. The audio system only reached the main room. There was a big screen in the main room to play a slideshow. The backroom seemed to have their own audio and two screens. We could not figure out how to connect the two, so the guests in the back room had to come out to the main room to see/hear what was going on. -The lobby is large. Good to set up welcome table. -There is a small private room behind the fish tanks. This was where vendors took their breaks. The wedding I helped plan had just under 280 guests, so they took up the main room (20 tables) as well as the back room (7 tables). Some tables had 11 seats but same amount of food. Because of the number of tables, there was no dance floor. I heard compliments from many guests that the servers were efficient and helpful. They served wine properly. Overall I would recommend Happy Harbor for a large event. Side note: Happy Harbor gave us a contact of a guy who did white seat covers with ribbons. That guy only had a two-person team and did not finish all 270 seats. In fact he stopped just under 20 tables and did not get any in the back room at all. He also set up with the spandex seat covers, which is not what the bride wanted.

Revisited one of the first few restaurants I came to when I first met my husband for dim sum and it was a better experience than the first time. Dim sum was ordered on paper and they bring out the dishes you ordered rather than the pushing carts, which I don't see as often anymore anywhere. They were busy , but we were able to get help whenever we flagged them down. The vibe was busy noisy Asian dim sum mornings which is familiar for Asians. It was spacious with the high ceilings but the tables were packed together. It's in the 99 ranch plaza so we walked around afterwards before needing the bathroom. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot Food was good but haven't found the most amazing dim sum yet. But we will be back

Located just next to the 99 Ranch in Rowland Heights, I've been told that Happy Harbor is the main destination for those in the area looking for some dim sum. And whenever I pass by to grab groceries, there always is a line early in the morning even until late afternoon. So with a curious stomach, I stopped by on a Sunday around 12PM. First thing first, big mistake. When I arrived, there was a large crowd waiting outside. And after taking a number from the host, I waited for about an hour to an hour and a half before I was seated. If looking to come here, definitely come early! Looking at the different dishes, the price ranges from about 5 dollars for a small, 6 dollars for a medium, and 7 dollars for a large. Compared to other restaurants in the Greater Los Angeles area, the price is on the lower end and is better from a price to portion standpoint. In other words, it explains why so many people were in line to eat here. But taste-wise, the food was only mediocre. This definitely won't be the best dim sum you've ever had, but it certainly won't be the worst. Looking at some of the dishes I had, I enjoyed the beef tripe and spareribs as they both were rich with flavor and had lot of juicy parts to them. But for most of the items like the tofu skin rolls, siu mai, shrimp rice rolls, and beef rice rolls, the taste was mostly surface level. Texture-wise, they all tasted as one would expect. But there wasn't really any part that screamed WOW. These comments were pretty consistent with most of the items here: good stand-alone meat items, but only okay general items. Looking back on my experience here, I suppose one cannot complain about the price and what you're getting. After all, the amount of people waiting here definitely indicates that there is good food to be had. But with the only okay taste and generally neutral flavors, I'd give Happy Harbor a 3 star rating. If you're looking to have dim sum in the Rowland Heights area, this might be the best around. But if you're looking for the best dim sum? Best to find somewhere else!

Overall: 4 stars. On other weekends, we usually have around a 20-35 minutes wait for a party of 7. Memorial Day Saturday weekend, many people were probably out of town because there were a good amount of tables open. Service: 3 stars. Waiters forget requests from time to time (napkins, hot sauce, the check) but at least for a party of 6 and a baby, tips were not automatically charged. However, we did get billed $1.98 tea for the baby. I told them upon entry so make sure you check before pay. I love dimsum food though at the end of always over ordering, the total price reminds us we can't come every weekend. $5.18-$7.28 for each tasty dish.

This place was not good for dim sum. The hargow skin was too thick and the shrimp was flavorless. The pork buns were not good filling. Lacked any flavor inside the baked buns. Overall food was bad. I wouldn't recommend coming here for dim sum.

Food and service was great Actually went there twice in same week once for dinner and the other for Dimsum. There' seems to be a new server there and he is pretty good at service and recommendations. We encountered him on both occasions. Consistent and hard working. Ambiance was good with some areas in need of some remodeling and needs better up keep of restrooms.

Went for CNY 2026 dinner. The place is filthy. Chairs are sticky, artwork is ripped, carpet is nasty. The Punchoi had duck feet in it! Not a recipe I would use. Paid a fortune and it was blah. Never again!!! The servers were good, the restaurant is not.

Lots of people and super busy! Pretty good dim sum! First time I tried sea cucumber. It was like jelly, it was okay. I personally didn't like it, but definitely give it a try Would likely come back to this place

from the start you already kind of get a feel for this place. really fancy interior, you walk past their live seafood and their wine collection before getting into the dining area. the food was absolutely spectacular, definitely the highest quality dim sum ive had in a long time. in particular, the chicken feet was especially good, near fall-apart tender, very easy to eat. the tripe was very flavorful. the single piece of broccoli some of the dishes had was a cute touch. prices seemed fairly reasonable too, especially considering the fancy aura of the place. definitely expect this place to be more pricey than your typical dim sum, but i think the quality of the food makes up for it.

Unfortunately, that ended up being the highlight of the experience. We ordered a few dim sum dishes since they were nearing the end of dim sum service, but we mainly came for a family-style meal. The pineapple sweet and sour pork ribs were the first dish to arrive, and they were disappointing -- mostly bones with barely any meat. We also had to ask for steamed rice at least four times while other dishes kept arriving with no rice in sight. The deep-fried tofu was decent and pretty much what we expected -- nothing special, but still a comfort favorite. The French-style beef with mushrooms was actually very tasty, and the beef chow fun was okay. The biggest issue was with the walnut shrimp. We specifically asked for the nuts on the side because some people in our group have nut allergies, but the dish came out covered in walnuts, while the sauce was on the side instead. That mistake, combined with the long wait for rice and the overall attitude from the waitstaff, made the service feel really careless and frustrating. What made it more disappointing is that we've been here before for Chinese New Year and other holidays, and even when the restaurant was extremely busy, the service had always been much better. This visit just felt off all around. The food was mediocre at best, the service was lacking, and overall it was a very disappointing experience. Sadly, I think it may be time for us to find a new go-to Chinese restaurant.

Disappointing! Also, I asked for 1/2lb of roast pork. The guys behind the counter were mocking "who buys 1/2lb?" The f!! I do! I don't like leftovers!! What's their business whether I buy 1/2lb or 1 lb?! One pound is $29. Why waste my money when I can't finish one pound of roast pork!! Either, sell it to me for 1/2lb or let me know only sold at one pound n up!! No need for mockery! Esp toward your customer! Sheesh... 3.5 for food taste. Roast pork, bbq pork, sesame ball, cha siu bao, and lor bak go taste like what's it supposed to taste like. Nothing over the top or special. It's comfort food. Not so cheap anymore as food prices keep rising!!

I visited this restaurant twice before its permanent closure on April 15, 2026. Some dishes were…read moreexcellent, while others were just average. Szechwan DanDan Dry Noodles w/ Peanuts: Excellent. It was a bowl of dry noodles topped with green onions, crushed peanuts, and sesame sauce. It tasted like an upgraded version of sesame noodles with a better texture. Ding's Special Cold Plate: Excellent. This signature appetizer platter was one of the restaurant's best. It included five items: dried tofu, seaweed, pig ear, beef tripe, and spicy beef shank. Fried Pork Chop + Green Mustard Fried Rice + Spiced Eggs: A must-order. The fried rice had great "wok hei" (breath of the wok). The fried pork chop, which had a bit of fat, was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The juiciness and the texture of the melted fat were perfectly handled without being greasy. Shanghai Sesame Fermented Rice Dumpling Soup: A must-order. The portion was huge and enough for four people. It used mini tangyuan (rice balls) with sesame filling, and the combination of osmanthus powder, fermented rice, and egg drop was excellent. Also, it wasn't overly thickened with starch like at other restaurants. Soybean with Bean Curd Leaves: Very good. The moisture was reduced to just the right level, and the flavor was as satisfying as a meat dish. In addition, unlike the cold appetizers served elsewhere, this one was served hot. Braised Pork Belly: Good. It came with two translucent-looking spiced eggs and four pieces of pork belly. The sweet sauce was well-absorbed, and the meat was stewed until it was quite tender with almost no "porky" smell. Overall, it was a good dish, but the version at Blue Magpie in Arcadia is even better. The following dishes were good but not must-tries: Pan-Fried Dumplings, Steamed Dumplings, Stir-fried Rice Cakes, Braised Beef Noodle Soup, Shrimp & Pork Wonton Soup, Fish Fillets in Rice Wine Sauce, and Stir-fried Spinach with Garlic. Steamed Stinky Tofu: Highly not recommended! Is this even Jiangzhe cuisine? It tasted more like Sichuan-style poached stinky tofu. It was way too salty, so much so that I stopped eating after about 60% and didn't even have the desire to take the leftovers home. Shanghai Style Salted Chicken: Highly not recommended! The chicken texture was quite dry, and the worst part was the abundance of small bone fragments. I was afraid to chew too hard for fear of damaging my teeth.
