I've been here many times over the years and decided it's time to review. Cloverleaf is my go-to place for a beer and a casual dinner. First of all, their beer menu is extensive, so there's bound to be something on tap or bottled that will float your boat. Secondly, I've never disliked a dish that I've had there - from the salads to the burgers, I've always walked away satisfied. Some of my favorites are the hot bubbling crab dip (get an extra baguette, trust me), shrimp tacos and the buffalo chicken tenders. Honestly I don't know what it is but their buffalo sauce is AMAZING. Also, get your burger on a pretzel bun and hand cut chips as your side - the perfect combo. To top it all off, the servers and bartenders are awesome. If you come here often or are working on your MBA/PhD, join the Clover Club. It costs $5 to join, you get $10 for your birthday month and $10 for every 150 points ($1 spent = 1 point plus there's other ways to get points). It's well-worth it if you frequent this place. read more

I have been coming to Cloverleaf for 8 years now and they never fail to disappoint. This is a great place for a nice, family dinner or to also bring a large party and celebrate an event. There are different rooms, so you are able to sit in a quieter area if you prefer. Food is always amazing, waiters are always super friendly and personable. All their dishes are so unique and always cooked perfectly. My favorite menu items are the crab dip and beer cheese & pretzel! This is a place I will always return to, there are so many great memories I've made at this establishment and I hope to see it thrive for many years to come! read more

First of all, they have a great beer selection, which changes almost daily. My wife reports they make good drinks as well. Their food is good pub grub, and the staff is fantastic. Highly recommended! read more

Pub atmosphere and good pub food. Lettuce wraps are crisp, tasty and refreshing. Bitburger Pils on tap...need I say more? If they run out they have many craft brews to choose from. Park in the back lot. read more

This place is the bomb. Always crowded, but always satisfying. A great extensive menu but most things are good. I was craving a burger, it was so well satisfied here. The bun is soft, the meat is well cooked, the waffle fries are also delicious. For the app I got the crab dip which was arguably better than the burger which was already amazing. The dip was just so warm and gooey and flavorful. The bread was toasted and warm. Everything was delicious. The service is also always good, even though they are so busy all the time. The outside seating area is somehow a good vibe even though you're technically sitting in a parking lot. But that goes to say they really made the place look nice! read more

This was my first time here and I will definitely be back!. My food was delicious: onion rings and fish tacos. It was fresh and piping hot. Fish and onion rings were lightly battered and crispy. My friend and I ordered flights so we could sample different beers-prices are very reasonable. This place is now one of my favorites! read more

I literally just love this place. Incredible tap list, every server is wonderful, the food is great. Just feels like home.

So I have been to this establishment before, but I have never been moved to write a review until tonight. Our waiter Louis is the reason that they are getting a strong four stars tonight. He exemplifies what it means to have great customer service. First, he is very well versed on everything on the menu and cave really great suggestions. Secondly, he was very timely with everything and attended to all of our needs. Lastly, he didn't get frustrated when I placed my order. He wrote everything I said down and everything came out exactly how I wanted it to. As for the food it was pretty good I think that bed thing that I ate was my burger. I asked for it well done but not dried and that is exactly how it came out. I look forward to returning and having Louis as or waiter and trying others things on the menu. read more

My husband and I had lunch at Cloverleaf Tavern for the first time today. We had tge bubbling hot crab appetizer, which was very good. It comes with warm bread and is very hearty. For the main course, I had the prime rib cheesesteak sandwich, which is phenomenal. I would definitely recommend it. My husband had the fish and chips, which was also great. The servers were super nice, and we met the manager who is so kind and friendly. read more

I had been wanting to come here for awhile so when my sister picked this place to celebrate her birthday, I was excited. Unfortunately, I was let down. For drinks, I ordered the $5 mojito- it was ok.. the pina mojito was better. I then switched to pinot noir which was fine. Although I do feel like $17 for two glasses is a bit much. As for food, I got the southwestern wedge salad (special), ehhh- just ok. Nothing special... everyone felt the same about their food- it was ok- not horrible, but not memorable. Dessert was really good- I tried the brownie, ice cream, and peanut butter pie, and they were all good. Service was average. I think this place is mainly known for their craft beer, so if you are coming here, I think just plan on that. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while so we decided to go here for a quick bit this weekend. We walked in and the hostess greeted us and asked if we wanted to sit by the bar or in the dining area. We chose the bar and so she told us that there was a table open and pointed us in the direction. I was a little confused at this point, I figured she would've walked us over there but after a while, I realized the bar area is more of a seat yourself kinda deal. The table was dirty but we sat down so no one would take it. The waitress came and cleaned it for us and provided us with menus. They were a little busy, so at first we waited a little. Being a new place, we weren't sure if we had to order our food at the bar or what. But the waitress came to us which was good. They have a large selection of beers and food. I had an allagash white with my meal...a bacon cheeseburger. It was pretty good and the fries were great as well. Prices weren't over the top either. For two people the total was around $35. I'm looking forward to coming back here and trying something different maybe next time, read more

Was on a search for the best fish and chips. my journey has been a long and unpleasing one, ever since the Grasshopper changed owners. i have been to a few places to give that title to the most deserving restaurant. Today I found that place and the title was given to The CloverLeaf Tavern. The atmosphere was appealing and the beer selection was mind boggling. LOL.....I ordered the fish and chips and before i finished my first round of beer it was served to me. The aroma of 3 perfectly fried battered pieces of cod flooded the air. my salivating mouth was ready for the first bite. I picked up a golden brown chip with some tartar sauce and broke off a piece of that crispy and flaky fish and............WOW that bite put me 1000 leagues under the sea. The fish was well seasoned, fresh and flaky and the batter was second to none so crispy and light. My mouth couldn't wait for the next perfect bite. Thanks to the CLOVERLEAF My search is over for the best Fish and chips. I will be going back to try more of their food. read more

Walking in the place you feel as if you're stepping back 25 years in the best possible way. This is the place that modern kitschy chain bars are trying to imitate. I was there on Belgian beer week so I enjoyed a few Palms to enhance the throwback feel. I didn't eat here, but the food looks like absolutely decent bar food the way my buddy tucked into his blue cheeseburger :-) read more

I have to start off with the spiked hot chocolate because it was absolutely delicious!!! It can act as a dessert for those who don't prefer to eat meals with hot coco hehe! There was a big marshmallow & whipped cream to top it off! I ordered the J-lew which I wouldn't get again because I didn't like the sauce. I ordered a side of mashed potatoes which I was also wouldn't order again. They were stiff and not fluffy and airy unfortunately. Some of the other meals pictured like the spicy chicken sandwich and the salad were enjoyed. Also I added a beer that was highly recommended around the table. I have been to Cloverleaf plenty of times and i'll continue to go! I will order a different meal next time, but am happy to give business! read more

Used to come but hardly ever anymore. Pricing is out of control. $15 for this sandwich, they up charged me for the honey mustard? Kicker is now they don't include fries. If I wanted that it's $3 extra. So $18 for a small sandwich? What a ripoff read more

If there were half stars I'd give another half. I'm visiting my old stomping grounds and came with a friend-mainly for the beer and mussels- on Belgium night. As always, the beer selection was second to none. The special mussels were very good but the frites that sat on top were forgettable. On Belgium night the fries should've been triple fried, at least twice. They were unseasoned and not well enough done. The sliders were tasty albeit a bit too dry. The medium buffalo wings tastes ok but they were cold and needed to be much crispier. The place was packed and the wait staff was working in high gear. Our service started with sweat dripping onto my arm and the table from the waiter. They get heated easily and the lack of sufficient air conditioning didn't help. We also had one waitress grab our bowl of mussels to clear them without asking and with 4 mussels and a few fries still clearly visible in the bowl. We stopped her but only after she placed the finished mussel bowl into the delicious broth we hoped to dip bread into. She than (sarcastically) asked if we wanted her to get us 3 new mussels. We should've said yes but instead asked her to simply leave the bowl on the table. The remainder of the service went well enough and it was a pleasant meal overall. read more

I had an enjoyable first experience at the Cloverleaf. We started out with the warm pretzel that comes with beer cheese(very good) and mustards for dipping. I also had the bacon Bloody Mary. The drink was perfect and reasonably priced at $10. Our entrees consisted of turkey club, Cobb salad and Mac and cheese with breaded chicken. Everyone loved the entrees. The pretzel was filling so we had a tough time finishing up our meals. The staff was friendly and attentive. Nice area out back for dining outside. Definitely will be back when I'm in the area. read more

Returned with 15 family and friends to celebrate a special birthday for the Sunday Brunch at the Cloverleaf Tavern. We were 1 of 2 large groups accommodated that day...no problem. Some drinks were delayed being served probably because of the two groups...but no big deal. Owner on premises keeping eye on things. Sunday Brunch is 10-2 pm, and full the entire time...but don't think people had to wait long. Attentive service. Good selection for the price including an omelette station that broke down when we were there. They managed to take my order anyway for eggs over easy. Fresh fruits, bread selection, and some desserts. Buffet includes coffee and 1 adult beverage such as house Mimosa or Champagne or Bloody Mary. I remain impressed by the large craft brewskie selection draught. Some choices rotate and some are permanent. Best selection in the area, and fair prices for pints. Tip I: Remind server about Senior citizen discount for Sunday Brunch, if it applies Tip II: Consider the drink special menu. For instance, a Makers Mark Manhattan or a Blue Sapphire Martini is $10. Tip III: I park on the side street rather than the tight lot in the rear. Will return. read more

This is one of the finest restaurants and taverns in Essex County. I've been coming here for years, many years, and I have never been disappointed at the quality of the food, service, pricing, or anything else that you would expect from a quality establishment like this one. What a great beer selection, and they have some awesome tap takeovers. I went for the Dogfish head tap takeover, and they had an aged 120 min on tap from 2015. Great beer, drinks like a whiskey, and it is 18-22 %. Also the Randal's cookie 90 min was awesome, filtered through cookies with a cookie rim. If you are coming for an event here come early because it gets packed. Our waitress was excellent, friendly, got food to us fast. The food was nothing great, bar food with a bit of a twist. I had the specialty burger of the week (cool that they do that). It was a burger with an onion ring, fried cheese curds, and a sriracha mayo. It was a mess, the cheese curds were not good, and the burger was dry. Next time I will try their normal burger just to compare. Come here if you love craft beer, because they always have good ones on tap. read more

Always a good beverage selection on tap and consistently good menu options! I would highly recommend a visit!

This was a neighborhood favorite and we have been glad to support it via takeout during Covid. Yesterday we went for outdoor dining and they did a great job delivering the same experience as before. Waitress was nice and the food as good as ever. I loved the alcoholic pumpkin slushie! The Mac and cheese was sooooo cheesy and amazing. The only thing I would change is to spread the tables on the patio a bit further apart, they were just a little too close for total COVID comfort. Otherwise, a great experience. read more

Came here on a whim as we love to try new spots! Our dishes were just okay - nothing to run home about however, I learned about a new Irish brew called Old Brown Dog. This is now my new favorite beverage! I wouldn't eat here again - not because the food was bad it's just not my cup of tea. I enjoy eating foods I cannot make at home - that wasn't the case here. read more

Finally came back after a year! I had been planning to come back to give this place another try but I kept forgetting. Our first experience was not all that great (Ryan I believe the owner reached out to me to learn a bit more about my experience and this showed me he really does care about the customer experience and I think that's great) we finally came back yesterday and it was great! I'm surprised how organized it is for outdoor dining , service was quick and the food tasted great and it was nice and fresh. Our server was great and friendly. (Btw the entrance is on the side) they have a patio and a huge tent to sit under. If you'd like the patio you would have to make a rsvp but sitting under the tent was just as good. Overall our experience was pretty good and plan to come back ! Thank you Ryan! read more

First time at this place.... I ordered the Guinness chicken was very dry and portion was so small for $21 I had to send back. I ordered a cheeseburger which was very good. Very good food and nice atmosphere ! The staff is friendly and on top of things. It is a casual place with a great beer and wine selection!

I had heard many things about cloverleaf tavern and had wanted to try it since moving to the area. My family and I went for lunch during COVID times and sat outside. First of all the space outside is great! So many options and they have fans running keeping it cool out. The server was super nice and the food was delicious. My husband ordered the fish and chips. Whoa! Massive fish! Definitely try their spicy tarter sauce. It was delicious. I ordered the triple smoke burger which was also so delicious. There were so many things on the kids menu that my daughter actually likes and she kept saying how she loved the new restaurant. One thing I noticed and it's probably because of how early we were there (11am), there were so many families with little kids! Which I liked because I'm always worried about ruining other people's dining experience if my kid decides to be crazy. I will definitely visit this place often! read more

Haven't been here in quite some time! Sanitizer is provided when you enter the facility by the hosts desk. Tables are separated by a partition at every table and spaced accordingly. Outdoor dining is open and has heaters under the tent! Tables are separated! We were greeted and seated immediately upon arrival. Paper menus were given and their is a Qr Code as well if you like. There was a special today, but 1 burger get the second 1/2 off! I had the classic burger well done with waffle fries. Appetizers were the Frickles and fried Cheese curds. The cheese curds were served with a chipotle dipping sauce that was a little too spicy for me. The curds were delish! The Frickles were served with a Dill sauce that had a slight bite too it but was very tasty and complimented the pickle spears well! My burger was with caramelized onions (additional fee), Swiss cheese, tomato and lettuce! The bun was very tasty and fit the burger well! It was juicy and very flavorful! The cheese was well melted on top of the entire burger! You can taste all toppings in every bite! Dessert was Key Lime Pie! The pie was yummy! Great service, great food and great atmosphere! Couldn't ask for a better dine out! read more

Love the leaf!!! We have been coming here for years!! It is always great!! I love the food the staff and atmosphere!!

My husband and I decided to try this place based on a special we saw on Instagram, the disco burger - cheese curds, mozzarella cheese, and gravy on a burger. When we arrived, we were very pleased with the COVID-19 standards, I watched them wipe down every menu brought back by the servers, including touch less menus scanning the barcode onto your phone, and tables spaced out accordingly. I felt very comfortable eating here. We arrived just as a thunderstorm was brewing, and were sat at the patio per our preference. Once it started raining, we were asked several times by servers and management if we'd like to move to the tent. We decided to stay in the patio as we had an umbrella covering and appreciated the coolness of the rain after the heat, but appreciated how quickly they would've accommodated us to be comfortable. Our server was also very nice, he gave great recommendations. The watermelon sangria was very refreshing, and the cheese curd appetizer was so good. The reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because of the burger. The patty on the disco burger was completely under seasoned and overpowered the taste of the burger itself. I added salt to the burger but still didn't feel like it added to the flavor. The gravy and curds were still very tasty, so I knew it was the patty itself. I also was not a fan of the bun, it was similar to a Keizer roll. The onion rings were also soft and not crispy at all. I will come back and give this place another chance though, since the service was great and the appetizers and drinks were very good. The burger was a special of the week, not on their regular menu so, maybe we just ordered the wrong thing. Will try their regular menu next time. read more
