Wait why are the ratings so low!? These 100% vegan donuts have literally converted me into a donut person. Fluffy, light, and not too sweet (asian tastebuds approved), with real fruit flavors that actually shine through. I usually find donuts overly sweet and artificial, but Cloudy Donuts completely changed my mind. These were not only pretty but with just the right amount of light frosting. To make them vegan, they use applesauce instead of eggs, coconut milk in place of dairy, and vegetable shortening instead of butter. My bf is severely lactose intolerant, but also has a sweet tooth. I was so glad to see him enjoying these without worrying about the aftermath. *Lemon Pistachio Cinnamon Roll Fluffy and bright, with a pop of lemon and a nutty pistachio crunch. *Orange Vanilla Bean Donut Like a creamsicle in donut form -- citrusy, sweet, and super airy, garnished with candied orange. *Raspberry Rosé Donut A little tart from the raspberry. My bf devoured it in one bite lol it was a 10000/10 from him. *Balsamic Fig Donut Juicy, jammy, and surprisingly perfect with that tangy balsamic kick. *Lemon Blueberry Poundcake How is it this moist and light and VEGAN?! I even found lemon peel bits on the crust.

Vegan! It taste indulgent without being too heavy. The texture inside is fluffy. I had a mini powdered sugar and a brown sugar chocolate chip. For $6.00, it's a bit steep when it's a slightly above average doughnut.

Fantastic donuts. Can't wait to go back next month when we visit.

Great donuts. Literally clouds. We loved them so much we are planning to go back when we visit next month!

what a sweet surprise - this is a black owned vegan donut shop. my friend and i stumbled on this spot and we tried the brown butter pecan mini donut, berry olive oil mini donut and the lemon blueberry pancake pound cake. everything was a 10/10. Felt very light and perfectly doughy and nice touch of sweetness. the flavors are a clear and a balanced presence in each bite. John helped us out and he was so kind in offering a taste before purchasing. the vibe in the store is bright, simple and welcoming amidst busy soho streets. My favorite was the pound cake but highly recommend for a sweet vegan treat!

This spot is special. The ambiance, the creativity, the flavors, easily a 10 across the board. I grabbed the strawberry donuts and they were unreal! Soft, flavorful, and 100% vegan. Major respect to the owners for opening NYC's first Black-owned vegan donut shop in Nolita. This is what excellence and inspiration look like. ANYTHING YOU CAN IMAGINE IS REAL WHERE DREAMS CRUMB TRUE.

one thing i constantly crave is a good doughnut which is hard to find as a vegan. whenever i visit a big city my goal is to find a vegan doughnut. i was super excited to try cloudy donuts after a quick google search and some tik tok recon. unfortunately they just didn't taste that good. i loved the mini size and plethora of flavors offered. we got one of each flavor which came out to 7 doughnuts and as we were deciding they were super kind and gave us one to try. i think the problem is with the doughnut itself. the dough was just bland and left a weird after taste. the frosting was sweet but they were really lacking flavor.

Was definitely drawn in by the aesthetics of the shop. Very cute yet simple, offering what seems like vegan donuts and also pound cakes. We were told the lemon blueberry pound cake was one of their popular ones, so naturally we had to try it. It certainly did not disappoint - it was so so moist and just perfect. Wonderful balance of zesty lemon with the tart blueberries and every bite was delightful. We also tried the chai sugar donut which was very light and fluffy and thought this one was solid. However, the lemon blueberry pound cake was a clear winner and I would definitely recommend it!

This place is great. Definitely one of the best donut spotin the area. Highly recommend.

With a 3.8 star rating on Google & 3 stars on Yelp, I still wanted to try Cloudy donuts. Once I did, I totally get why their rating is low. Most basic donuts for $6 each - there are too many better dessert options in the city; save your money for those (Dough, Dominique Ansel, Supermoon bake house..list goes on)

I was walking around the town and spotted this shop and I am a donut lover and excited to try a new one, but I am totally disappointed the presentation is very nice but when I eat it very disappointing the donuts texture is dry lacking of moisture and texture the flavor taste is bland too, thankful I just bought 2 pieces I eat only the chocolate and the one with strawberry slice on top goes directly to the trash can. ( by the way the store is clean but so quiet no body is inside except one staff whose busy texting when i come in)

Bottom raspberry lemonade was my favorite!

Super cute artisanal donut shop in the heart of NoLiTa. The owner is super friendly and the donuts are super delicious and fluffy and flavorful without being overpowering and too sweet. My favorite flavors were raspberry lemonade (the hints of lemon were PERFECTION) and the blueberry! Would absolutely recommend and would get again. Esp for special occasions like birthdays!

Loved the flavors! Very unique -- you can't get these anywhere else. I can't even tell that they're vegan.

These are the most horrible, most overpriced donuts. Shame I couldn't get a refund. Please avoid this store at all costs

I needed a sweet pick-me-up after missing a train home. While the ice cream flavors looked interesting, I opted for a blue coconut iced matcha latte instead. Aside from the striking visuals, the drink tasted great. There was sweetness from the matcha and the coconut but not super overtly sugary. I also got a box of four donuts. They're a little pricey, but each donut is a pretty hefty ring of chewy glutinous rice flour batter. I had them the following morning, and the donuts still tasted fresh. There was a little bit of oiliness from the frying, but it did not taste off or too greasy. I think this is from the meticulous frying process and good management of the oil. I got the Cookies and Cream, Rose, Lavender, and Pistachios. I loved the Rose and Lavender flavors, especially the lavender which had a solid floral flavor without being perfume-y. I look forward to trying other donuts and sweets from Bear Donut in the future!

So far I've had the chocolate dipper, double chocolate dipper, Brooklyn creme, vanilla creme, strawberry creme and Boston creme. They never disappoint. All of the staff members are efficient and sweet, even when the shop is busy. Even if there's a line or they are making a bunch of orders, their service is consistently extremely fast without sacrificing quality. Their matcha latte and regular coffee latte are also pretty good. The cups are adorable. The interior is the old diner from back in the 90s style, and surprisingly they have a decent amount of seating considering how small the establishment is. Run, don't walk! (You might feel like you should run off the calories if you try the food but I personally feel like the donuts are worth it)

Nice guy at the register helped me select the Black and white, Creme Brulee, and the Grand Central Special specific mini doughnut in a pretty shade of green with gold stars. The guy told me he honestly wasn't a fan of the black & white, but theirs was pretty darn good. Packed in their brown bag, and I was on my way. I didn't get a chance to eat these until later, but that Creme Brulee was a messy one. I would consider this a dessert (not since it technically is, but due to this being rich and heavy). The creme within seemed to be concentrated on one side, so this was the last side I ended up finishing. The mini was perfect and simple in vanilla. I finally ate the black & white the next morning, and this was probably my favorite; I ate each side equally until the end. Glad I tried Doughnut Plant, and that I didn't have to go to Brooklyn for them, but am definitely willing to on another visit!

The problem with massive strawberries is eating them. If I had a knife, I could cut them into smaller pieces as eating them on a skewer stick got really messy. Also the strawberry itself overpowered any of the chocolate taste, so it didn't balance well in terms of taste. For sure favored the milk chocolate over the dark chocolate.

Filled donuts are bursting at the seams with custard that tastes like egg yolks, cream, sugar, vanilla and little else. The orange cream cheese donut is generously frosted with, I'd guess, a mixture of cream cheese, marmalade, powdered sugar, and cream. Based on what we've tried, the donuts at Caroline's are old fashioned, unadulterated and excellent. I recently picked up four donuts for the fambly: the aforementioned orange cream cheese, creme brulee, Boston cream, and raspberry glaze donuts. This was in the afternoon around 4 p.m. and all of them were perfectly, wondrously fresh. The person at the counter (the male proprietor, I think) assured me in his charming French accent that they freshly fry donuts several times a day. Creme brulee was the fan favorite with the hard, crisp, sugar shell on top cracking delicately under a knife to reveal a loose, rich, custardy filling. But across the board, donuts were beautifully made (both aesthetic and delicious!), and well frosted / glazed / filled. The raspberry glaze by itself was a touch too sweet for our tastes, but applied with restraint so the overall effect was balanced. We are not in the donut market very often, but have had this place bookmarked ever since my esteemed Yelp colleague, Alan S., reviewed it last year. Now that we've tried these beauties, I think we're going to find many excuses to be back (e.g. for Hannukah sufganiyot, anything round for Lunar New Year, anything fried for Diwali, anything that can support a candle for birthdays, etc...).We really like this place and we suspect you will, too.

I'm talking about an establishment that makes high-quality gourmet treats. As you can imagine, I was thrilled to see this one opening in the neighborhood last year. I have been to Caroline's several times since it opened its doors to the public. I've tried a few of their items, including the glazed twist, Boston creme, coffee donut, and strawberry filled. The glaze twist is one of my favorites. It's wonderfully sweet while not cloying, and I especially enjoy topping it with the Bon Mama berry jam I have at home. The Boston creme is truly made with love. It's sufficiently stuffed with creme and topped with a thick layer of chocolate ganache - the expensive stuff! The coffee donut is also delicious. Of everything I've tried, the strawberry filled was my favorite. You can tell their strawberry compote is homemade and not too sweet. The dough is light and fluffy and generously coated with granulated sugar. What a treat!
