Before Covid this was "Dough Donuts " which is my favorite doughnut. But I guess the franchise owner said it's time to do his own thing. Fam Fan doughnuts are good recently I've been stopping by at least once sometimes twice a week. I enjoy it.
The donut was very good and tasted fresh. The donut did have a little bitter coffee aftertaste. Other than that it was pretty good. Someone got the donut for me though so I'm not too sure how the service is.
The last time I sang praises for a 'donut' was Dominique Ansel's limited time raspberry pandan cronut, which isn't 'technically' a donut. But Fan-Fan won my heart with their beautifully decorated, not-so-sweet, and soft donuts. Not to mention, the ladies working at Fan-Fan are the sweetest rays of sunshine. My partner and I got half a dozen donuts, big donuts, for the great price of 4-5 dollars each. These aren't a rip off like the tiny Daily Provision crullers, or diabetes bombs like Krispy Kreme. Fan-fan donuts are all mildly sweet, with fresh fluffy dough, and delicious cream. The guava and cheese and dulce de leche donuts are must orders. The seasonal apple miso paired with an oolong tea is divine. The chocolate and churro donut features a rich dark chocolate and crispy churro that's perfect with coffee. If donut shops could learn to cut down on the sugar and balance out their flavors with a little salt, we would all be in a better place. That's what makes Fan-Fan a sanctuary for people like me. Decadence without the guilt.
I came mainly because of the mango lassi doughnut and left disappointed (note to self: do not high expectations). The mango lassi doughnut was meh, nothing impressive and it felt like it was sitting there for a while. Doughnuts looked pretty but did not taste as expected. They do have a large variety of creative flavor combinations if you want to try unique doughnuts.
Donuts here are dense and hold their shape well even with the toppings. The spongy softness of the donut returns to form after each bite. I got this special donut that was topped with dark chocolate and roasted green tea (though I did not taste any hints of it). The topping is airy and light and just sweet enough. The donuts here will be a hit for anyone who is looking for flavors in the diasporas: mango lassi, guava and cheese, chocolate glazed with cute mini churros on top. That's certainly what drew me in. No seating except one slender outdoor bench, so everything needs to be taken to go.
Went to try this donut place.. got the white coffee and Iranian love donut... pretty good & fluffy donut.. not the best one that I had but is still pretty good donut ..
I've been wanting to try Fan-Fan for ages, so thrilled I finally had the chance, they definitely lived up to ALL of the hype! I was able to preorder the donuts I wanted for pickup on their website online, and it was the very end of AAPI month, so I even got to try one of their special collab donuts the Pandan Coconut, so good! Once I arrived, I received a warm welcome, and picking up my pre order was so quick and easy. The shop was bright, open, clean, and the display with all of their current flavors had my mouth watering! Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the flavors but my two standout flavors were the La Donna (black currant & raspberry glaze with baked meringue) and the Mango Lassi (with mango cardamom glaze and a yogurt glaze drizzle and pistachio). Truly, I could probably eat those two every single day and never get tired of the flavors. Do yourself a favor and RUN there, their standard flavors are delicious but keep an eye out for their special flavors as well.
Saw this place on TV a few weeks before my trip to NYC and told myself I've got to try this place. Went out of my way to Brooklyn in the morning just for this. We were greeted warmly as we went into the shop. They do not have seats for customers inside. The doughnut flavors are unique. Guava and cheese was my favorite. Very soft with delicately balanced contrasting sweetness from guava and saltiness from cream cheese. Delicious. La Donna was a raspberry black currant glazed doughnut. It was good too. I wanted to try the mango lassi donut but it was not available at that time. One of the best doughnuts I ever had. Definitely worth the visit.
About a 1-1.5: Fan-Fan Doughnuts is a super popular 'artisanal handmade doughnut' shop that makes their items on-site in small batches. We ordered half a dozen of: +La Donna - topped with a black currant & raspberry glazed and a baked meringue (with dried corn flower petals) +a Classic Glaze - made with vanilla extract from Mexico +a Mango Lassi donut +a Chick donut - an Easter special; passion fruit flavored +an egg-shaped donut - an Easter special; topped with a pomegranate glaze and homemade sprinkles, filled with vanilla diplomat cream +and, a Caramelized Apple Bun The donuts looked aesthetically pleasing, but they didn't taste fresh - honestly, they seemed like it was sitting out for a while or were at least a day old. They were not even warm at all, which was also super disappointing. Staff could have been friendlier; make sure you know what you want to order, as the lines are long, and the staff can become impatient. I'm picky when it comes to doughnuts=donuts. Is there a right way to spell this? Back to the point, very picky. I want to try them all, especially the unique flavors. Which was why I couldn't wait to come here! I was hoping to like these more. With all the great reviews, background story, I couldn't wait to try. I would say they were just okay. The raspberry lemongrass, was lacking in lemongrass flavor completely. The raspberry was present, but just as a topping it didn't really give me a raspberry donut experience. I asked for an 'old fashioned' or plain, and the kind lady gave me one from the back, an untouched one, the base donut. Again, just okay. It was a pretty bland yeasty donut. Went well with my coffee. Love the vibe and the service was great.
Saw on ABC news mentioning it's a Michelin star runner up so I had to try it out. This donut shop is small with no seating. They serve the same donut base but with some amazing toppings. Keep in mind that they are pricey but still I wanted to try it out (at least once). I ordered a dozen assorted donuts. Not every donut was labeled. They set it out on a wooden platform so you basically point and choose. See pictures. Their toppings are generous and unique. The few that I remember the names of were: white coffee, churro chocolate, passion mango, yuzu, pistachio, cardamom, guava cheese, mango lassi, raspberry black currant and honey glaze. In conclusion the donuts were flavorful and unique. Glad I got to try them. I would say this is something that would be a great treat to bring to someone's party or for a holiday. Great conversation piece. They do have a frequent buyer card where you stamp it every visit and after 10 visits, you get a half dozen free...worth the visit if you live nearby and can afford it! Staff is very friendly.

I know a few other donut shops occupied this spot before Fan-Fan moved in, but if my experience is any indication, this one's here to stay. I couldn't choose between the enormous variety, and the cashier was very kind and patient, letting me take my time, even allowing a few people in front of me while I made a decision. I eventually went with the Iranian Love and Milk and Cookies. The former is cream cheese frosting, rose petals, and pistachios; the latter is Maria cookie milk frosting with a chocolate chip cookie topping. I was told Iranian Love is a fan favorite, and I can absolutely see why. Both of the donuts were immaculate: made to perfection and full of care. Definitely need to come back and try more.

My husband and I stumbled upon this spot with some friends that were looking for breakfast. We weren't planning to eat anything, but the donuts looked so good, we had to get some. We shared: - Mango Passion Donut - La Donna (Raspberry & Black Currant) Donut - Calamansi Meringue Donut They were all fantastic. I couldn't pick a favorite because I loved them all. I'd say these are in the top 5 donuts that I've ever had. I was trying to have a slight amount of self control, but there were at least 3 more that I wanted to try. If I lived nearby, I'd be here all the time. Do yourself a favor and give them a try. read more
I enjoy Fan Fan Doughnut. I had the coffee donut on Donut Day and it was so fluffy. This donut is not chewy at all. It's colossally big and very, very easy to chew on without needing something hot and wet like coffee or tea. But I do think it would be better with a drink. What I've also noticed is that they really prioritize the decorations on the donuts, and I think that also brings out their peak service. I was served during the Governors Ball where there were a lot of people and a lot of vendors. They handled their service very well. I couldn't tell you the exact location of the place because it was a vendor, but I assume it's probably somewhere I would conveniently go to. I definitely wanna go to the Brooklyn location. read more
I think this is my favorite donut place in NYC! I really like their unique donut flavors, and when I came here, I got their Boston Creme, mango lassi, guava and cheese, dulce de leche, and some sort of strawberry donut with chocolate filling. When I got them, they seem pretty warm so I felt like that tasted better. I think the flavor that underwhelmed me the most was the guava, and my favorite was the strawberry! read more

I'm not sure how I've never gotten around to reviewing Fan Fan, which I think along with By Kora is serving up some of the most cutting-edge donuts and donut-adjacent sweets in the city. On this occasion, I opted for the decadent oblong eclair-esque guava cheese variety, which officially replaces Panaderia Rosetta's famous brioche as my favorite dessert employing this classic duo. read more

Anyone who prefers cake donuts over yeast donuts is crazy, and if you're crazy, don't come here! I said what I said and I stand by it. I also stand by this: Fan fan has delicious yeast style donuts. I came right when they opened on a Sunday morning because other reviews mentioned a line forms- I was the only non-employee in the shop. The lady working the counter was nice and explained what each of the special donut flavors were. I ordered the Danny boy, white coffee, la Donna, choc choc, and a passion fruit filled special. I liked all of them, but my favorites were the Donna (berry) and the chocolate glazed. Taking a bite of one then the other is a good pairing. I also ordered a London fog tea latte that was very mild and to be frank, boring. Donuts are their specialty, not tea, so no big deal. A word of caution: If you choose a glazed donut, do not try to eat them while walking unless you are prepared for a mess. I brought them home to eat at a table and I don't think I have the grace to attempt eating these in transit. read more

Wow ! Just attended the Latin Food event in Brooklyn , Fan- Fan was one of the vendors. Stopped by their booth and had a passionfruit doughnut with cheese. It was incredible ! Prob one of the best doughnuts I have ever had and yes I have had alot. lol. Wish I lived closer to the store. I would be in there often. Highly recommend their doughnuts. Get to the Chase Pros: 1) Great staff - friendly, welcoming and hard working 2) Oh my damn such unique flavors that pack a punch! Love the boston cream and mango passion fruit! Goodbye waistline and hello carbtastic bliss 3) Prices are reasonable (~$20 for churro choco, guava cheese, boston cream and fruit glaze) 4) Filled donuts are nicely filled the brim! No skimping here Cons: 1) Not easy for some people to get to, and a small place, but hopefully with their popularity they can expand 2) No delivery to south slope or manhattan read more
Sitting in the corner of an unassuming street sits a cute little donut shop. It had an industrial feel inside. The lady inside was helpful. I asked if there was ice coffee and there was. The small is 16 oz and large is 20 oz. We got the Danny Boy donut which was brown sugar caramel, the mango lassi that the top coating tasted very much like the drink mango lassi, and the Boston Cream which is not in the typical round shape. Everyone said their donut is very sweet but good. I had the mango lassi. The donut itself is a typical soft airy yeast donut but the topping is what differentiates it from anything I've had before. It is super sweet and had a distinct mango flavor. Two pistachios decorating it. They have a variety of teas. You have to add your own milk and sugar. The total cost was $27.47 for 3 drinks and 3 donuts. read more

Life-changing donuts. You can really tell how much thought and effort goes into each flavor--there are layers of taste in every bite. I usually hate overly sweet desserts, but these were perfectly balanced. Some leaned sweet-and-salty, which I loved. The donuts themselves weren't oily or dry--just moist and fluffy, kind of like a high-quality milk bread. Not as airy as I expected, but still so good. My favorite flavors were the brown butter and guava & cheese--both absolutely to die for. The brown butter had this beautiful toasted butter flavor with just a hint of caramel and salt--not too sweet, just rich and indulgent. And the guava & cheese? Fruity glaze with a slightly salty cream cheese filling--perfectly balanced. The brown butter crumb topping on that one was heavenly. It was a bit of a trek for me, so I picked up a bunch of flavors thinking I wouldn't go back anytime soon--but honestly, those two alone are worth the trip. I also love how they incorporate flavors from different cultures--like the South Asian-inspired mango lassi, the Mexican churro donut, the Persian love cake, and I believe there was even a seasonal gochujang flavor. It's creative and refreshing to see. I tried their hot chocolate too--so rich, thick, and deeply chocolaty. Definitely for dark chocolate lovers. If you're not into strong chocolate, you might want to add milk. My only disappointment was the homemade marshmallow--it contains gelatin, so it's not vegetarian-friendly. I wish they had an alternative like whipped cream. read more
It smelled amazing from even outside before even walking in. They have a great selection of donuts for whatever type of mood you are in the day. They also serve paletas, coffee, horchata and a bunch of other items. Both of the donuts I got were fantastic but the guava and cheese one was the star of the show for me. My absolute favorite thing about the 2 that I got were that they weren't too sweet. They had a perfect balance that didn't make me feel bad for eating both right then and there. Now THIS is how you doughnut!! As a donut aficionado, I had high expectations when I stepped into Fan Fan, but I can confidently say they exceeded them. From the moment I stepped foot into the tiny Brooklyn shop my senses were overwhelmed in the best way. With gorgeous guava donuts on display and the smell of sugar in the air, I was hard pressed not to order one of everything. I somehow managed to settle on 4 (my bestie later sacrificed one of hers so I could take one home to my sister) and everything was incredible. Perfect, pillowy, yeasty, textures. Innovative bold yet balance flavors. I was in heaven. The Miso Ringo was a standout for me but everything was amazing. Not many places are worth the social media hype, Fan Fan is the exception. I was super excited to try FanFan on one of my trips to NYC last year but when I finally did, I realized I've gotten spoiled by LA's superior donut market. FanFan was 3.5 stars at best. Even though everything looks amazing, I have to say that LA's donut shops are simply better. Now I know that while NY will always have better pizzas and bagels, LA will always have better tacos and donuts.. read more
Absolutely delicious donuts!! I decided to walk over to Fan Fan and I was overwhelmed with the options. Honestly, I wanted everything! I ordered 6 donuts and my favorites included the Lemon, Passionfruit, and Glazed. The donuts aren't super large 1-2 will get you right. The staff are super influential if you need help selecting. One of my favorite spots for donuts in Brooklyn! But the best of all is by far their hot chocolate, the donut croutons are to ingenious and so yum. There isn't much seating but grabbing it to go and eating it in the park is perfect. read more
I usually prefer cake donuts to yeast but these were really special. I got the guava cheese, mango lassi, and white coffee. The guava cheese was delicious. The white coffee was great. The mango lassi was a bit too sour for me. I enjoy the Indian beverage so was really looking forward to this donut but couldn't eat more than one bite of it. The service was great, quick, and friendly. The location is a bit inconvenient, couldn't find parking. I wouldn't come out of my way for this place but I would pick up donuts from here if I was in the neighborhood. Overall 4.5/5 read more

The best doughnuts in NY. Rotating flavors, but the classic glazed is a staple and it's perfect. The fruit flavors are tart in the best way, and they often have unexpected flavor combinations. The staff are always friendly, and the women making the doughnuts are often singing and chatting in a way that gives the space such a fun feel. Any line they have moves quickly. read more
