If you use the Doughnut Plant app, they're running a promotion where first-time users pay just 75 cents for a $5 donut. Hands down my favorite gluten free donuts in NYC. They usually always have the almond donut and then one or two other seasonal options. All of them have been delicious. I had to visit after a coworker brought them into the office; I was immediately over the moon for how incredible they were. I walked in and got two doughnuts, and found them to be exceptionally light, fluffy, and truly delicious. The shop is pretty small, but it does offer a few seating options with cool tile tables. They are famous for their square filled doughnuts, which were apparently one of the first of their kind in the country. I had a terrible experience with Donut Planet and feel their customer service was completely unfair. I placed an order for donuts and paid almost $70. The website says you cannot change the date, which I fully understand -- but I did not change my date. I simply arrived one day later to pick up my order because I was out of town. Even though the order was already paid for, they refused to give me my donuts and refused to offer any replacement or refund. I explained the situation clearly, but they still kept my money without providing the product I purchased. I feel this is very poor business practice. Any reasonable business would offer a replacement, store credit, or something--especially when the customer is only one day late due to travel. I missed my stop while I was heading home and got off at the Bergen St station. As I walked out of the station, I saw this place and decided to stop by. When I went inside there were a couple of customers placing orders. Then all of a sudden there were more in the shop. It filled up quick. It smelled like doughnuts and it was comforting. I got my favorite which was the Brooklyn Blackout doughnut. It's a rich chocolate cake doughnut dipped in Valrhona chocolate, with a chocolate pudding filling and then sprinkled with chocolate cake crumbs. Doesn't that sound delicious ? One of the store staff was telling me about their Rose Doughseed heart doughnut which was their limited edition heart-shaped doughseed with rose water cream filling with pink rose glaze. I wasn't sure how it will taste so I passed on it. I paid for my order and left. To my surprise, the Rose Doughseed heart doughnut was included in my bag. I think it was a special for mothers day. Both of the doughnuts were delicious. Price: each doughnut is $4.50 or more. It's a once in a while treat to indulge. I wouldn't mind stopping in again to try other flavors. I love this place! I've stopped by quite a few tomes to try their donuts and I'm never disappointed. They always have a pretty great variety to choose from as well as a yummy special that they feature! Their best and most well known donut is definitely the crème brûlée donut and let me tell you that one is FIRE. This time I popped in to get out of the freezing cold weather and enjoyed the dark chocolate donut, the coconut donut, and the pistachio donut with my husband! They were all delicious! The inside has some seating but it's less of a place to spend a lot of time, and more of a place to pop in to take things to go.
