The worst service I've gotten from a bartender . Skinny white dude in a trucker hat behind the bar got me a bottled beer and gave me my change back and as I was pulling out my card to tip him he says "they must not tip where you are from , expect great service asshole" . This bar and a couple bars across the street in the Village were the only things going on in the weekend I was here. It's a small space, so it's standing room only when the town is crowded. They have all the standard big brand beers; I didn't look into what microbrews they have, but we did try a decent "Mammoth" ale. We also had some wings which were nice and spicy. If you want to sit at a table, you'll have to come early as there are precious few - not a bad way to meet people, we shot the breeze with a few nice looking ladies desperate for somewhere to sit. They also have some arcade games and a foosball table, but after a few drinks and lack of experience, I had my ass well handed to me by my friend at the foosball. read more

I was here in the off-season, so it wasn't very crowded, which I prefer. Wonderful constantly changing draft craft beer selection 26 in total. (There are a few crappy beers on draft too, if you're into that.) The Reuben was great. Service a little slow considering the few people in the place, though I think the bartender was just being friendly and giving me some space. One of the best bars in Mammoth. and one of the only places to go if you don't like dance music or overpriced signature cocktails. Clocktower used to be only beer and wine but they recently acquired their liquor license and have a HUGE selection of whiskey and bourbons. If that wasn't enough, they expanded their menu and have Philly Cheese steaks made with Cheez wiz and Tater-tot nachos which are the best bar food in Mammoth. I'd give this place a 5 but it usually closes early (around 10 on weekdays and midnight on weekends) and the kitchen has random hours. I would love to get off work from Sushi Rei and be able to eat some food and have a drink! When this happens, you will get that 5th star! read more

The chef came and took our order personally--really great guy. Comfy atmosphere & kid friendly....BUT the food and drinks are hit and miss. My guinness came FLAT and the tots/chicken tenders, fish & chips all seemed especially greasy and lacking flavor. My fish tacos had piles of cabbage and some kind of interesting sauce on it, and of the things we ordered, we all agreed I'd gotten the best dish. My husband ordered the rueben, which came with dried out meat and stale chips. Meh. With a total of 3 beers and the food named here, our bill came to slightly over $60. Worth it? I stumbled into this place because everything else was closed and was very happy with it. We were able to watch the football game and decided to eat food too. The burgers are phenomenal!! I came to mammoth for snowboarding and a my friends are asking me how my trip was and my highlight was this damn burger. OH MY GAWDDDD!!! It's a little dark and dingy inside but the service is decent and the bartender and crazy fast. The ambiance and decor is neat. One thing that bothered me was a gentleman right when I walked in carded me (I'm 25) and gave me a hard time and actually made it really uncomfortable at first. My ID is clearly me but he made a comment that I took my picture when I was 15 and I totally took my picture when I was 21. Maybe work on the approach of that. read more

The service was nice - The place was empty. The burger was meh - pretty dry. They insist on pushing tater tots but I don't quite understand why - Tater tots are blend and boring. Also giving it two stars because the beer I ordered (on tap) was flat. Stick to bottled & canned beer! read more

Been here twice over the summer of 2016 and both times enjoyed a beer sitting at the bar with my son-in-law. A bartender named Kyler (hope I spelled that right) was there both times and recognized us the second visit even though it was about 45 days after our first visit. He's a very friendly guy and we appreciated his service both times here. I generally come here every time I visit Mammoth in the summer - which makes this something like my 10th visit, and except for one time when there was only one other person in the bar (a little boring), I've always enjoyed the place. It's really nothing more than a basic bar (hole in the wall in a way) but can still be fun and affordable to hang out in (really sometimes these can be the BEST places to hang out!). I've eaten the fish tacos here (visit 45 days ago) and thought they were fine for what the place is. So go in and enjoy yourself! read more

Clocktower is AWESOME!!! I would say it is THE local's hang out. Only downside is that they close super early. Ton's of whiskey!

A basement bar that looks like a basement rec room. That was fun, but their whiskey selection was more fun. Of the 100 to 200 whiskeys, most were Bourbons. The bottles were not super unique like the Bourbon bars in Kentucky where the selections look like a big wine list, but it's still an impressive offering in any other state. The whiskeys weren't just for show because the bartender was familiar with the sizable inventory. Of course like most places that are considered dive bars (not sure why Yelp calls this place a wine bar), the other customers just came for beer. read more

Really enjoyed this place I went and partied after a day of snowboarding, and randomly entered a raffle and won a snowboard! The bartenders were nice, and gave good service for how busy the bar was. We had to ask the bartender about Happy Hour food specials and after searching for the HH menus she told us they had just started it and this was her first time to serve from it. Funny, we found out about it on the internet and she didn't know about it? Granted we were the only customers and she was getting her Bar set up but when you are served Fish and Chips and you have to ask for napkins, really? Then if I was a bartender and watched my only customers eating fish off napkins on the bar, I mean don't you think she could have offered a plate? Oh well, guess we won't be back. read more

Good happy hour menu with personable bartenders and servers. The bartender and cook are volunteer firefighters. However, watch out for deep fried chicken or fish. They operate their friers at 375 degrees (too hot). The result is that the food is well done on the outside and still might be raw inside. We asked about this and the cook said that he turned up the heat on the friers because it goes down too much when they're busy. read more

I went to the bar with some friends and it was the worst experience I've had in mammoth thus far. The bartender had a horrible attitude, and it was nearly impossible to get a beer. We went during NFL playoffs and they were playing some garbage ski trials and refused to turn the channel. To top it all off the place smelled kind of funny. Wouldn't waste my time here. I really like the new bar food menu. The prices are a little over priced for beer and whiskey. The staff is good. My only issue is that there are too many ski patrollers from mammoth mountain getting drunk and being dip sh2ts every, I mean every evening. Getting rid of the ski patrollers would do wonders for the atmosphere of this place. read more

Quite simply the.best.apres.ski.bar not only in Mammoth, but possibly the Greater Sierras. Observe: fantastic happy hour 4-7 with great beers, wines in tap and most importantly, some of the best bar food known to mankind (sausage and pretzel with kraut, fish tacos, Totchos...wow. Pool table, several foosball tables, lots of locals and bartenders that are actually bartenders...how refreshing. Even the bouncer is a great guy. Bonus: always some great characters in residence to talk with and challenge to pool, which makes the visit all the better. Been frequenting this place everytime we are in mammoth. Love the bartenders, excellent service everytime. Was very dissappointed with the way my husband and I were treated by a female bartender on monday 7/6. She treated us like trash. Ignored us, acted as though it was an inconvenience for her when we asked for refills. She was extremely friendly with all the customers sitting at the bar though. She never acknowledged us. Never smiled. Very very rude. When my husband went to pay for our happy hour food and drinks (which is daily from 5-8 & is great) she said we wernt there on time, (it was 8-17pm and we were leaving after having a few rounds of drinks and our meal) and when my husband asked her to double check her time stamp because we are ALWAYS in here...she ripped up the receipt and said ill take care of it and walked away. My husband said wait, I dont want a freebie, I can pay my way she ignored him and walked back into the kitchen. We were the only hispanics in the pubm not saying it was a race issue but she made us feel really stupid. She messed up our whole vibe of the place! We will continue to wine and dine there when in Mammoth, but if she is behind the bar, we will walk right back out! Very disgusted at her treatment towards us! read more

Earlier this year I made a visit to Clocktower and was enjoying the atmosphere. Me and a couple friends started a game of billiards, and one of my buddies went to buy a couple beers for us. As we were drinking our beers and playing pool, one of the ladies that worked there named Jenny came up to us and literally grabbed the glass of beer out of my hand and demanded my ID(sure I look young, but this is no way to treat your paying customers). Never have I had this happen to me before at any establishment. Everyone else was very nice and the atmosphere was awesome up until "Jenny" came up and caused a scene and honestly embarrassed me. We then finished up our game of pool and headed to the Mammoth Brewery which had this place's customer service blown out of the water. (had this review saved on my phone but never posted it on yelp, hence why the review is a year+ late, perhaps Jenny has already been fired or no longer works here.) read more
