I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone under 30. When we arrived, the hostess said she'd seat us shortly and then proceeded to help at least 3 other parties. We had a reservation made ahead of time and she still ignored us. This set the tone for the rest of the experience because unfortunately the customer service didn't improve at all that night. As a young 22 year old couple, we were excited for a night out to celebrate a recent college graduation but our experience was disappointing. Maybe we were judged for being a young couple at a fancy restaurant. We felt like we were treated as lower class and maybe that's because they expected us to spend less than an older demographic. The waiter only acknowledged us to take our order, but did nothing more and forgot to bring part of our dish out several times. We will not be returning. I've had better customer service at every other restaurant I've been to. read more

Nice restaurant in a very cool, old brick building. The building is shared by other businesses and restaurants. Clinkerdagger is in the back of the building overlooking the river. The entryway makes you feel like you're walking into an old timey speakeasy or something. There's a cool stained glass window as you come in that's very pretty. The big windows in the restaurant give a great view of the river. I sat at the bar to have my dinner. The bar area was a bit small, but the rest of the restaurant looked spacious. I know this is a steak and fish place, but I got the Wild Mushroom Ravioli and Braised Short Rib. It was great. There were plenty of ravioli on the plate, with a smallish piece of short rib. I'm not complaining about the short rib at all...it was delicious. But the ravioli and sauce are supposed to be the highlight of the dish. The sauce was rich and savory, with pieces of tomato and spinach in it. I'll be having cravings for this dish in the future. read more

We really loved having dinner here overlooking the beautiful river cascading upon the rocks. After dinner we took a walk to Riverside Park which was a lot of fun. I had the prime rib and it was excellent! I think they gave me 16 ounces for the price of 12. I couldn't believe how big it was! It was one of the best prime ribs I've ever had. I loved the cracked pepper rub and it had some salt with it which brought out the flavor. They give you what they call atomic horseradish. I loved it! Just go easy. My wife had the baby back ribs and I have to say they give you a full rack of ribs! We were disappointed that the ribs were a little dry and chewy. The sauce was really good. Our server was excellent. In fact I noticed that all of the staff seem to work extremely well as a team. The management at this restaurant, I feel puts together a really good crew. To start this has been a local favorite, but there are real concerns on the quality of service in the table bussing area. As I had dinner last evening I observed as many guest finished their meal, after they leave the busses or host would clear the table of plates, pull a dry rag outa their apron pocket and dry wipe the food onto the chairs and floor! Many seats were left with crumbs, with no attention given. Through out the meal waitress would bring us utensils and set them on the table. No napkin underneath, right on our presumably dirty table..... very inconsiderate. I hope they rectify this issue. No matter how good the food was it was served in a dirty environment, putting every customer at some unneeded risk. read more

We visited for the first time about a month ago and it was a mixed bag of opinions on the food. Two people got the prime rib and weren't very happy with it, both saying that it had an "off" flavor and was too tough. I had the haddock special and it was fabulous. The other two got dessert and I heard that the creme brûlée was fantastic and the key lime pie was okay. I'll give credit to the waitress for removing the prime rib from the bill and giving free desserts. We'll go back, but I doubt if anyone will order the prime rib next time. read more

For starters, Lily should wear a cape on her back! She's the best server I've ever had ... and I've had a lot of servers! Her attentiveness and attention to detail is second to none. It's like she's almost a mind reader for Pete's sake! The woman knows what you need before you even open your mouth. I digress. The food and drinks are absolutely DELISH! This is a great, longtime Spokane eatery with great views of the Spokane Falls. Eat outside to get the full effect and water in your face when it's really rolling! The food is great. Near the courthouse, a problem with the lunch crowd is it's dominated by lawyers and judges. Normal people come in at night, and it's worth it after-hours to come for just dessert! read more

Visited Clinkerdagger to celebrate my wife's birthday. In the vestibule, we had to duck an altercation between three homeless men, not promising. Once we got inside the mood shifted considerably. The views of Spokane River were mesmerizing and we were seated at a window overlooking the amazing view of Riverfront Park and Downtown behind the rushing river. We enjoyed the calamari appetizer with a bottle of champagne. We each ordered the prime rib. Mine, ordered medium rare, arrived raw. The wait staff quickly took it back while my wife enjoyed her birthday meal. A new plate came and everything was as it should be. the potato and asparagus sides were very good. We ordered dessert and coffee. The coffee came slightly warm. We had finished dessert by the time hot coffee finally arrived. The quality of the food was fine but the wait staff were not very attentive on this visit. We ran up a $400.00 bill, at that price one expects premium service. Oh well! read more

Yesterday, my sister & her family decided to dine at this establishment with some friends. Everything was fine until the lady working near the bathroom decided it was okay to give my FOUR YEAR OLD niece a piece of hard candy AFTER my sister said NO. Apparently, when a parent says NO, it goes in one ear & out the other here. A few minutes later, my niece proceeded to choke on that same hard candy at their table until she THREW UP BLOOD. The lady that gave her the candy was nowhere to be found after this occurred. Here's a bit of advice, please teach your employees that the next time a PARENT says NO when they're attempting to give their child candy, they should honor that & not give it to them anyway. K...Thanks. Also, you should probably at least make an attempt to come check on people when a child is choking on candy that YOUR employee gave them against their parent's wishes. Everyone was staring so I know your employees, including the one that hid, saw what happened. read more

Atmosphere is fantastic, overlooking the Spokane River with World's Fair structures in sight. The food is superb. Local fish (Steelhead, salmon) fresh veggies, excellent house wine. Really beautiful spot for dinner! I would recommend this place for a nice occasion. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and it's right on the river. You can make reservations via open table on Yelp. It is located inside of the old flour mill building so you have to walk past a few shops to get to the entrance. For parking, you give the hostess your license plate number so take a picture if you don't have it memorized. The service is excellent and very professional. We ordered the Brie for an appetizer and it was really tasty (they bring warm bread out as well). I recommend the salmon for dinner. The chicken was good however it was a very small portion size (like child size), just two thin pieces of chicken. I ordered the prime rib medium and it was a little over for me, but the flavor was great. My mother ordered the NY steak medium and it was very red, so I suggest ordering medium well if you prefer a pink steak. Overall, it was a lovely meal. read more

A table with a view makes the dining experience so much greater at this restaurant. We were able to walk right in without any waiting and the service was good. My daughter ordered the hamburger with fries and said it was very tasty. I had the aged Waygu sirloin steak with potato patties and green beans. My steak was a little over cooked but the sauce on the steak was really good. I had never had potato's served in a patty but they were also very impressive with great flavor. read more

Made a reservation about 15 mins before I got there. That was a plus. But she didn't have the name written down even though she had my last name (different first name) for the same time. Refusing to think it was the same person, she had us wait for the table. It wasn't very long. We were not offered a table with a view, which I did not know existed until we walked down into the dining area. That would have been nice and I would have been willing to wait. I was also asked about a thousand times if I was celebrating anything tonight which was so annoying. It made me second guess like "should I be here right now, I only just want dinner for me and my husband?" We were not offered any specials. I did not know of any until the end of the meal when a different waitress was speaking to another guest. The menu was not explained. I would have rather been asked "is this your first time dining with us?" There is a tax for the wait staff included in your bill. That's fine but they really need more training. The food cannot only speak to the resturant. I got a signature steak but would have rathered gotten an old fashioned grilled steak to get that full flavor I was craving. My husband got prime rib. The Cesar salad was PRETTY good as were the sides to our meat. Overall good flavors. If I come back I'd like to try the scallops. I can grill a steak pretty good at home. The room was toooooo dark. Even with the sun coming in through the windows. Those red lights are not pleasant to enjoy a meal to. Seems like a special occasion place? But I may come back for a pretty view, which even with a reservation is not a guarantee according to another yelper. read more

Ordered the smoked pork chop, it was dry, and the sweet potato hash wasn't done, they were still hard! The Brussel sprouts were the best I've ever had though. My friend had ribs and was in LOVE with her food. Said they were the best she'd ever had. Two completely different experiences. She suggested I go again. We also ordered the oyster appetizer and it was yummy. The view of the river was spectacular and the resturant was beautiful. The food is over priced and marginal. The lack of creativity from the menu leaves a lot to be desired here. Steak and potatoes, fish and rice. Always disappointed to see a lack of quality vegetarian options. This menu had no appetizers, soups, or entree selections for vegetarians. One standard house salad was the only choice. I asked the wait staff and he said they'd make a veg dish for us. A pepper stuffed with vegetables on a bed of rice drizzled with balsamic reduction is what they brought. It was forgettable and overpriced. I gave them 2 stars for the attempt to accommodate but won't return or refer this establishment. read more

I'm sad to say this dinner experience at Clinkerdaggers will be our first and last. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation to celebrate our twin Zags 19th birthday, we had driven from Seattle to Spokane, they requested dinner at Clink's. We were seated at a table with no silverware, the host said he'd get some to us, as our dinner was finally served over 60 minutes later, we had to remind our server for the 3rd time we needed utensils. We also requested Restaurant Week menus several times from three different staff members and finally received them as our server hovered to take our orders. We ordered drinks as we initially sat down, they took 30 minutes for a glass of wine and two sodas. We ordered pasta, salmon, and shrimp scampi for dinner. The shrimp scampi was ice cold, everything on the plate, I attempted to eat it anyway as we knew even getting our servers attention would take forever. He finally came over as the rest of my party were finishing their meals. He insisted on taking it back even though I was ready to go, he promised it would only take " a minute and a half" to plate another one. 20 minutes later I saw him and said to cancel it. We were hoping for a birthday dessert with a candle but honestly were just ready to leave. The manager came over and took my meal off our bill and gave us a to go dessert. He apologized for, "dropping the ball" at our table. I left hungry and ate snacks in our hotel room. I'm giving two stars because the other food at the table was very good, the service was TERRIBLE, our server clearly was too busy and completely forgot about us on every level. Was extremely disappointed we were not able to continue the tradition of celebrating our kids b day with the candle and dessert. Next year we will go some place else. read more

Our family has celebrated every special occasion here for 35 years so it was a natural choice this past weekend for my birthday and Mother's Day. Despite the familiar face of the long-time hostess and the beautiful view, not much more was signature, classic Clinkerdaggers. Our server was nice enough, but had very little knowledge of the special Mother's Day menu and mistakenly told us I got a free dessert for my birthday when it really only includes burnt cream or a mud pie (I ordered Key Lime pie and paid for it in more than one way). Later she enlightened us with the sad news that RUI sold the restaurant last year and let's just say it has nose dived from what it was. I'm sad for anyone who never tried the real thing; they have no idea what a compromise this new version is. We started with a very measured pour of Pino Gris and then split the meagerly portioned and overdressed pea salad. My mom ordered the classic Chicken Dijon which tasted all kinds of wrong with tiny, overly fried poor quality chicken pieces and barely any mashed potatoes. But believe it or not, my inedible entree paled in comparison. I took a risk, I admit it, but ordered a $46 halibut filet that was described as Halibut Sorrel and came with celery purée, bacon and apples which I assumed were all sautéed. Wrong! Totally raw, bitter, chopped grannie smiths, no bacon whatsoever and a small little pool of purées celery with perhaps a tad bit of sorrels mixed in. Mind you, the server told me Sorrels were mushrooms (um, no those are morels) and I felt too bad for her to clarify. The halibut was terribly overcooked and again, meager. For $46! In Spokane! Oh well, I prayed my favorite "free" key lime pie would remedy the disaster but it too changed and for the very worst. Yes, it was green, but didn't remotely taste like lime. Much to my relief they beautifully garnished the plate with a ruggedly cut wedge of lime that I squeezed dry to no avail. The pie was still bad. RUI, you not only sold a gem, but you tragically killed it too. We will not return. read more

We came in on a Monday shortly before they stopped seating for the night. The hostess was very nice and gave us a table with a view of the falls. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the history of this area of Spokane. My NY strip with blue cheese was really good. The other steak, a filet, was stringy and gristly. The lobster tails were perfectly cooked, as were the sides. The shrimp and grits appetizer was perfectly executed. Service was exceptional, and other than the filet, everything was great. read more

We have always loved going to Clinkerdagger's for special occasions since we grew up here and remember when it opened in 1974. We got takeout here tonight even though it wasn't a special evening for us and it was really delicious. The Caesar salads were perfect. The prime rib and Wagu steak were cooked to perfection and so were the vegetables on the side. (Mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus.) We also ordered desserts. We ate the lovely, creamy cheesecake tonight and plan to eat the chocolate cake tomorrow night because we were too stuffed! We are so thankful they are open and encourage others to take advantage! read more

Overpriced. the dinner menu starts at 3:00pm so we were about 2 min late for lunch. the fish and chips were $20 and not that good. a bit fishy - fresh fish is not fishy. No coleslaw with the fish and chips. Few fries, good though. The waitress was very nice, worked hard and fast. anyway, I paid over $90 for fish and chips, an appetizer and a drink for me and a drink for my friend. I thought that was a lot for what we got.
