I am saddened to give this review. I have never given this low of a rating, but I have also never been so disappointed. I had heard wonderful things about this little bistro, but I left severely disappointed. We ordered the Wagyu steak, the chicken dish and a Margarita Pizza. The Wagyu was on the spendy side at $52.00 for this type of establishment, but not outrageous. Sometimes I am hesitant to order a steak of it is too inexpensive. However, a good Wagyu ordered medium rare should not be served sauced and sliced and should not be cold to the touch. It was very rare and not cooked properly. I don't believe they have the correct equipment to cook a steak like this as it appeared to be cooked properly on the edges. Whoever sliced it should have known that Wagyu will be tough and chewy if not cooked properly. The pizza had the same issue. It was bland and served cold. We decided to bring it home and try and cook it later. If I had to guess, it was a frozen pizza just cooked and not fresh. Finally, the chicken never came. It turned out that they were out of chicken. With a limited menu, this was disappointing, so we switched to the $28 cheese tray. The cheese tray was ok. Clearly just three random cheeses without a lot of thought into how the flavors could be expanded and mixed with the sides. The service was very polite and professional, which was the only redeeming factor. The food was not cooked well. It was not expensive, but it was not cheap and the food felt cheap and poorly done. If you are going to charge higher end prices, you need to deliver a higher end experience. My thoughts when I left were that if I lived close, I might wait a couple months and try again, but I will not bee driving out of my way again to eat there. Again, this kills me as I really had looked forward to trying this small bistro. read more

Long time fan of Latah Bistro so I am hoping that it is helpful for improvements as I want them to stick around! :) Latah has always had great service and very well balanced tasty food. Unfortunately, tonight was not that. We were greeted by our waiter who was friendly but not very attentive throughout our visit. He was socializing with coworkers while we were waiting for our drinks. Which took awhile considering we were 2 of the 4 people in at that time. We ordered the Halibut Florentine and Chicken Scarpariello. The halibut was cooked well but the cream sauce totally overwhelmed the dish and drowned whatever vegetables were in it. It was more like a thick dip. Unfortunately it was so rich it made my stomach ache and couldn't finish the dish or my cocktail. The chicken dish was extremely over salted and overcooked. The entire dish was drenched in sauce and my mother wasn't able to finish her dish either. A dish that cost $47 for fish and "sauce" AND is inedible is a big let down. Overall a very disappointing experience from one of our favorite spots. Hoping it was just an off night. read more

The two stars isn't really fair, but the execution is so poor the food is overshadowed. We had the shrimp appetizer and it was good, not great. The ossobuco - figs from the freezer tossed on the polenta. The veal shank fell hard to lazy cooking. The mushroom pasta was a masterpiece. The desert really brought it all down to a crash. We ordered "sticky toffee pudding" and it was a cold, stale muffin with whip cream on top. It was such a lazy effort it was offensive. For $240 we had a dismal dinner that could have been excellent if they tried, gave a damn and stopped phoning it in. Until they give a damn you shouldn't either. read more

We always love Latah Biatro. But it is pricey. Cozy atmosphere and gourmet food. But it is expensive for the amount of food you get. Tasty and they always have a few good beers on tap and a good wine selection. read more

A friend and I went during Restaurant Week and their specials on the menu were amazing. We shared each of each other's dishes and all of them were fantastic. I would definitely go there again. The staff was very friendly and consistently checking in. We had a reservation at 7pm and it still had a decent amount of folks in there. It was nice and quiet, with dim moody lighting. Just enough to see the menu and have a nice conversation. It was a bit far for us, but I'd definitely go again! read more

Very sad to see a landmark neighborhood restaurant flop so hard on their face. The dishes are now overpriced, over seasoned, and entrees covered in over complicated/salted sauces that mask whatever fresh and seasonal ingredients that might be part of the offerings. Never been somewhere where some of the food was burned (black, carbonized) and other items on the same plate cold. They even burned their toasted bread. Plus side:Their pizza has improved in the last year; not burned on the perimeter. That happened regularly before. I think this may have to do with a rapid turnover of cooks, but just a suspicion. Won't dine here again for a while. Service is pretty good and the ambience remains cozy. read more

A few pieces of shellfish, a dab of fin fish, no pasta, no rice, no sauce ~ all for $41. The steak was not seared or seasoned well. The caesar salad was heavily dressed. We went to Latah Bistro for their New Years Eve dinner and want to say that it was one of the best dinner's I have ever had! It was a 5-course meal and I had planned on not eating the steak tartare & frites because I am not a fan, however, it ended up being one of my favorite items on the menu!! It was absolutely delicious - everything was. Between the nice atmosphere and the wonderful service, I will definitely be signing up again for next year. On a side note, I have also had their pig & fig pizza - which is amazing and their shrimp mornay, halibut, coq au vin, and scallops, all amazing! Definitely worth the drive from Colbert. Great little find here in Spokane. We opted to sit infuse although they have some great patio seating. We were warmly treated by our server who managed to keep up great banter all evening and was very knowledgeable about their wine, beer and food selections. Beer are rotating so if you fall in love with something it may or may not be back the next time you visit. It appears they have nightly/weekly specials in addition to their regular menu. They offered a Rib Eye on the night we were there, but were out of it when we got there at 6:30. The menu offers a nice variety of choices and I think most everyone in a party could find something that they could order. My MIL got the Crab Cake from the starters for her meal. It was a large cake that came with asparagus so it worked well as an entree too she seem to really enjoy it. My FIL ordered the Duck Breast from the specials menu. He said it was good, but a little over cooked My wife got the Beef Daube Pappardelle. She very much enjoyed it. I only got one taste (which is how I know how much she liked it) of the sauce and it was good. I got the Alaskan Halibut. It came on a bed of Yukon mashed potatoes with some wild mushrooms and English peas. Overall I was pleased with the meal. Really good flavor on the fish and potatoes. The gist was just a bit over cooked, but not by enough that it took too much away from the meal. read more

Excellent wine selection and great bartenders but food quality and taste have sadly gone way down in the last year or so. We ordered 2 different salads and both lacked flavor or any type of substance. One was supposed to have pistachios in it but couldn't find any. When we sent one of the salads back after eating a few bites they said they were unable to comp any of the salad and only offered a 'discount'. We used to enjoy this restaurant but there are many other better priced and better quality places in Spokane. read more

We stopped in on our way through Spokane and had a really nice lunch! They had just opened back up for patio seating and were clearly taking precautions--wiping down the tables in between customers and employees wearing masks. We had the pig and fig pizza which was great and the turkey melt which was crispy and melty and hearty with a nicely sized side salad (I hate when side salads are puny). The salads on their own seem to be very light in portion, and if you're hungry I wouldn't recommend getting that on its own. read more

Came here because chaps was packed. The ambience was really nice, we were greeted and seated by the waitress promptly. My date got the 36 dollar crab Benedict which was good in flavor but was hardly fulfilling. I opened up my salmon omelette and was dumbfounded by the little itty bitty pieces of salmon. I called the waitress over and asked her where my 25.00 dollar worth of salmon was. She proceeded to point at the little bits of salmon. She asked me if I wanted to get something else but at this point I had already lost my appetite. My check still came out to 56 bucks for a crab Benedict and 2 mimosas. They didn't charge me for the salmon but I expected more for 56 dollars. Never again. read more

My favorite part of this place is the staff. I had never been here before but the people who work here are some of the most genuine in the service industry. It was not a great day for me and it was actually a little get together with a friend where we were having some hardships and decided to hash it out over wine, which is the best idea honestly. Our server gave us rose and when she saw tears in all of our eyes she gave me the biggest hug and some of the best advice when it comes to building and maintaining relationships. She was truly a gem. The crab cakes were a special treat. Not only is the atmosphere of the bistro very upscale and classy, the food and the wine is as well. On a trip from the west side, tonight we had the pleasure of being treated to dinner for the first time at Latah Bistro. And oh what a pleasure it was. The menu was but one page, but we had difficulty deciding what to order because every dish sounded so good. The three of us decided to order several smaller dishes to share amongst ourselves. We chose the French onion soup, chili-lime tri-tip salad, shrimp mornay, grilled octopus, and the cheese board with olives, pickles, dates, and cashews. Every item was fantastic, with spectacular flavors. It was deliciously obvious the menu items were created with thoughtful care. We cannot wait to come back here the next time we are in Spokane. read more
