I was in from out of town and this place was suggested to me by the fellow from the Weed Shop - The stoner was right and it did not disappoint ! Def going again next flight in. Exactly what I needed before a long flight back to Texas -

Came here for lunch with my Dad. It's been several years since either of its have been here. It's cleaner than it used to be and the food came out very fast. My Dad ordered the Meat Lovers Omelette and it appeared to have a lot of meat in it. I ordered the Gourmet burger, it was alright. The ham has a slightly weird taste, but the burger was cooked well. Our server was attentive.

The food here is average, nothing that great or amazing. For the price of it you can go to a nicer restaurant. The place seems kind of dirty. We stopped in as visitors to the area and felt out of place since the vibe of this place seemed to be for locals/regulars only. Our waitress did greet us right away and ask for our drink orders as we were walking to sit down. She didn't come back except to give us our food and final check, not to see if we needed anything else. The staff kept talking with customers they knew over helping everyone.

    * Service 10 * Clean atmosphere 10 * Food 6 - Looked at pictures of the food they served. Shows a plate size chicken fried steak. This is why we went there. This however was not the case . It was the size of a store size chicken fried steak.

Needed a quick morning bite before an appointment, and figured we'd give Frankie another shot. In the early 90's, this place was a Spokane must for late night dining after all the clubs closed down. The 00's were not kind to it at all, when it became an unfortunate place to patronize, because of all the aggressive panhandlers that were within proximity. This morning's brunch was just fine, and there was thankfully no derelict-dodging. Place was pretty full under the current health event; the staff was friendly; the price was right; and, we were in and out of there in under 45 mins. Frankie lives...

I think the picture speaks for itself...BTW. these were off the mini serving menu!

This is not a typical diner!!! For starters the staff treat you like family... You have to let go of your usual expectations of being treated like a King or Queen and just be part of the family. Serving sizes are large and plentiful. Tina our server made us feel right at home as part of a family.. Great Experience!!

Frankie Doodles has a great breakfast on the cheap! Staff is nice and funny. If you want to take a step back to the 70's you'll like this place with all its nostalgia. nice little diner.

I don't know how this restaurant can still stay open. The tables, chairs, and the floor was absolutely disgusting. And to add on top of this, flies everywhere while your eating. What really bothered me, was seeing an employee walking around with 5 gallon buckets going in and out of where the food was being prepared. And then he walks straight to the bathroom with these buckets. I can only imagine what must have been in it. The food was also not cooked properly, it literally looked like the chef just threw it in the microwave. I strongly suggest you find another place to dine. Feel free to step inside and have a look for yourself.

It has been a long time since we have gone here. Not much different still pretty friendly staff, decent food good price. No frills... Big menu with lots of choices... Coffee was good.

This place is not trying to be anything other than what it is, a Greasy Spoon Diner. I mean come on.. what gave it away? The stuffed deer outside paired with the wrap around booths didn't hurt. You have your usual elderly diner folk, who are eating their dinner at 3-4pm, you have your family's looking for something easy for the kids to eat and some crayons to keep them busy, you have your usual bunch of surly, yet somewhat pleasant, waitstaff, and you have the menu (nothing about 'Frankie Doodles' screams gourmet). I had the chill with corn bread while stopping through on my drive across the US. I had been in the car for almost a month now, and I was very happy to find this place. The chili was filled to the brim with meat and beans, which is just the way I like it, and the corn bread was soft and sweet. Overall, I was pretty happy with this place. Zero pretense. Zero BS. Zero upset.

Honestly, Wooden City really lives up to its hype. It's an upscale spot right in downtown Spokane,…read morebut still feels warm and lively instead of overly formal. Definitely one of the best-quality restaurants in the city, where every dish was thoughtfully made and packed with flavor. What we ordered: Starters: - Spring Salad: Super fresh and well-balanced. The snap peas were crisp, with strawberries added for sweetness, and the goat cheese + pistachios gave it a creamy, nutty contrast. The lemon & tarragon vinaigrette tied everything together with a light, herby flavor. - Jerk Cauliflower: Crunchy cauliflower with Caribbean spices with a creamy jerk sauce, good as a side Appetizers: - Peel 'n' Eat Shrimp: Really juicy and spicy from the Cajun spice. There's butter to dip in but I found it too greasy and prefer lemon instead. - Blistered Hungarian Peppers: Smoky pepper with some sweetness and savory from the sausage and cheddar. Served with a toasted focaccia that soak up all the sauce. Main dishes: - Chicken Schnitzel: One of the must-orders. Crispy, golden breading, super tender inside. The lemon & caper butter sauce added acidity and richness that elevated the whole dish. Yoy have to order extra because it's never enough for the table. Yes, it's that good. - Marbled Duroc Pork Chop: Another favorite . Juicy and tender, with 'nduja salsa brava bringing a spicy depth, while lemon tahini and marcona almonds added creaminess and crunch. I always missed tasting this dish like my first time - Beet Ravioli: Earthy and slightly sweet flavor, nice texture but I hate goat cheese so I'm not really a fan of this dish - Pesto Bacon Pizza: Delicious crunch, loved the combo of mozzarella and gorgonzola, kind of creamy with a bit of funk. Balsamic do help balance and gave it a sweet tangy flavor, or else it would be too heavy for me (yes, not a pizza fan) Drinks & Dessert - Not Mai Tai mocktail: very aesthetically looking drink, but a bit too sweet to my liking - Apple crisp: cozy and warm, with baked apple & pecan crumble and served with vanilla ice cream on top. Delicious ice cream. - Pumpkin cheesecake: My 3rd favorite of the night, I still dream about it!! Rich, smooth, and perfectly spiced, you shouldn't skip this!!! That said, I do have to take away a couple points for timing. Our foods took 45 mins to come out even though I had reservations and note the menu items via the email, and the wait time between each dish was also... very confusing. It broke the flow of our meal. But once the food hit the table, it was hard to stay mad, so I forgave them.

I feel like I just went to a dress rehearsal about a play about a group of friends who got together…read moreand said "How about we open a restaurant? That would be fun!" Tonight was just so strange. First, I had no idea who was an employee. There were two girls that were going around together over and over, they kept stopping at tables so I think they worked there...but they never had anything in their hands. Our server seemed to keep forgetting we were there. Or just forgetting she was employed in general. Seriously just not with it. She was very nice...when she remembered we were there. I will say the pizza crust tasted amazing. So many places that serve pizza think of the crust as just something to put toppings on, but this had great flavor. Sadly, it was rolled too thin and said toppings made it somewhat soggy. Caesar salad was ok. Romaine was really fresh and crisp and the homemade croutons were still a little warm. Very good. However, the dressing was rather bland. And when I asked for pepper for it, our waitress first had it in her head that I expected some kind of peppers on my salad. When she finally understood I meant black pepper, she went away. Eventually she returned. Not with a pepper grinder or a shaker, but a sauce bowl that had about 3 tablespoons of black pepper in it. I wouldn't use that much pepper if I cooked for myself for a week and used it with every dish. Had to ask for knives for some of people's meals. I will say the spicy lamb rigatoni was amazing, pasta just right and the sauce and flavor was peak. I am just not sure what to say, other than this was the strangest and most disorganized dining experience I have ever had. I think if a grown up showed up and brought the kids into line, this place would be amazing. Also, for what we paid, I expected to be wowed, not left wondering what I just experienced.

I ordered it every time. * Matilda's Cake smaller than expected, but the best chocolate cake I've ever had. Still for $12 smaller than I thought it would be

But this restaurant is very pricey for inconsistent food. We've been twice now- didn't love it enough the first time but wanted to give it a second chance. The lemon pasta was divine the first time- but my carbonara was unflavored paste- I literally thought I had COVID and lost the ability to taste food but everyone else's food tasted good so that theory didn't hold up. This time I ordered the lemon pasta and instead of creamy, delightful and tasty it was a little bland and watery. The waitress "fixed it " by offering me more Parmesan to thicken it. I'd added prawns- they were nice. My companion ordered the veal parm- the tomato sauce wasn't amazing and the breading was a bit heavy. He wasn't impressed and didn't finish the dish. The risotto was just OK. Again, it's very pricey for just OK. The food isn't trash but if you've had great food you don't want to pay so much for just ok. We would rather spend the money at Luna or Francaise or Wooden City. Dessert was yummy. The first time we went we arrived first seating and it looked like the AARP theater crowd, the last night we went seemed like a galantine's preview! So if you're there for the drinks, appetizers and ambiance it's quite nice. I can't endorse it whole heartedly because the entree's weren't consistently good enough to give the full 5 stars. Service was fine and we tipped accordingly. Good luck!

The biggest issue right away was how long the food took. It felt like we were waiting forever, and by the time it finally came out, it definitely didn't feel worth it. We started with the pretzel, which honestly was nothing like a pretzel. It tasted more like glorified fried dough and didn't have that classic pretzel texture or flavor at all. For drinks, mine was way too strong and just didn't taste good. It wasn't balanced at all and ended up being hard to even enjoy. For my main, I ordered the Cascadia burger medium, but it came out clearly well done and overcooked. On top of that, the egg on it was severely undercooked.. some of the whites were still clear and slimy, which completely ruined it for me. I had also heard good things about the mac and cheese, so I gave it a try, but that was another disappointment. It was bland and runny, and even after adding salt and pepper, it still had no real flavor. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich, which wasn't terrible, but it was definitely on the dry side. They were also out of fries, so he had to get fruit instead, which was kind of disappointing. Overall, the food took way too long, the quality didn't match the price, and the experience just didn't live up to the hype at all. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.
