I went for brunch with my mom and husband. The ambiance is nice, very rustic and quaint! The Farmhouse has decor fitting of its name, farm animals and little sayings. The restaurant seems to be a family ran business. Sadly, this review isn't good. We went on Sunday around 11:30 AM. The restaurant wasn't busy, only 3 other tables there. We ordered a basket of buttermilk biscuits as an appetizer. My husband ordered a Loaded Breakfast Burrito. My mom ordered the Florentine Benedict with house potatoes. I ordered the classic Eggs Benedict. It took 30 minutes to get our appetizer of biscuits. The restaurant wasn't busy, so I don't know why it took so long. It took another 10 minutes to get our food. 40 minutes for food is ridiculous, especially classic breakfast food! Our server didn't come by with any update while we waited. My husband loved his breakfast burrito! My mom enjoyed her Florentine Benedict. I didn't like my Eggs Benedict. The Benedict serving was huge! The hollandaise sauce covered half the plate! The portion of the smoked ham was generous, but not proportional. The amount of ham was too salty for the meal. My mom and I agreed the hollandaise sauce was overwhelming and bland. I added pictures of our leftover Eggs Benedict, still so much hollandaise sauce left. The hash browns were salty to me, but I am sensitive to salt. I'd come back for the biscuits. The portions were big, but bigger isn't always better. Bene's, another breakfast restaurant down the street is exceedingly better for Eggs Benedict. read more

I ordered the chicken sandwich. The actual chicken wasn't even half the size of the bun. Mc Donald's 4 piece chicken nugget offers more meat. The chicken was super tough, dry and unchewable. Super pricey too. One adult meal & a kids meal was $60! The service was mediocre. It wasn't packed or crowded and we only got approached twice to ask if everything was okay. read more

Sunday after-church breakfast choice did not disappoint. We have been wanting to try the Farmhouse for months but timing never worked out. T believe they have just recently opened for weekend breakfast. Something I have never tried before was a pickle juice Bloody Mary. It was tasty. You Gotta order the basket of biscuits! Best soft fluffy biscuits ever! With homemade jam to go with it. Next time I think I will just have that all for myself. The monti cristo was good as well. Cant go wrong with French toast. Gonna come back again for dinner. Be aware they are closed Tuesdays. Highly recommend. Friendly service. I believe it's family run. read more

This used to be such an awesome place to eat. We ordered our meals, my husband ordered Not your Momma meatloaf. It is always delicious. The waitress brought it out and it looked really good. The mashed potatoes did not have any gravy or sauce that was served with the meatloaf. He asked for some and the waitress acknowledged the request and as she was leaving stating that there is an up charge. She came back with a very small plastic container of the sauce. The mashed potatoes tasted awesome. It would have been nice to have more sauce. Then he took a bite of the meatloaf and it was cold. The waitress came back with a small plate to remove the meatloaf. I asked her to please take the entire plate. She did, and returned later with a burnt/scorched meatloaf. It was not eatable. The waitress took it off of our bill. There were only 3 tables occupied including us. Too bad we lost another option for dining in town read more

Came in with a group of six. They were busy, no seating inside. Sat outside, some of us had to battle the sun. No big deal. The Cheney burger was one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. The burger was hot and juicy with melted cheese and fantastic grilled onions on it! Had to take the lettuce off to be able to take a bite. That was only a single, don't know how I would have eaten a double. One of the group ordered a veggie scramble. I think that was the name of it? It was huge. She did order it with three eggs though. Ordered bbq burger, two club, wrap and shrimp Cajun pasta. All food was good. The Jo's and fries were over spiced with johnnys salt to being inedible. Tartar sauce was icky. Ranch dressing was sooo watered down, it was laughable. Service was good. read more

Unfortunately we had a very mediocre experience. At least a 1/3 of the menu items were not on the menu (due to Eastern Homecoming we were told). No pasta dishes, fish dishes or onion rings were available. Appetizer did not come with plates. Our server was sweet, but a little scattered. I ordered steak with mashed potatoes and gravy. The potatoes did not tastes made from scratch and the gravy was definitely a mix. When were ready to pay the server was no where to be found (only 3 tables were occupied at the time). We went to the front to pay and mentioned the server did not pick up the check and card, we got a lot of attitude from the person checking us out (in a near empty restaurant). I totally believe in supporting our small town businesses and happily do so, but the Farmhouse was a definite disappointment. read more

Service was fantastic - the gal was so nice and attentive. The lake of stars is for the food. After placing our order we overhear that new ownership took over 2 months ago. Sad to say the food wasn't that great. My mashed potatoes were sour and quite inedible and the fruit that came with my daughter's food was fizzy/fermented. A new place right in our back yard. We gave them a month or so to get ops running smoothly, and I'm glad we did. Daughter and I enjoyed a nice lunch, and while Cheney hasn't had a 'fine dining' establishment since Immix Fusion closed, the experience has me believing we now have a date night option for Mom & Dad here in town. From the outside it looks like a converted house, but you will be surprised how much room the dining area has. They did a heckuva job with the remo. Food was great. I'm the last guy you'd think that would even consider a $17 burger, but I went for it. I finished half, and it was great to be asked how I wanted it cooked. Accompanying Jojos were delicious, with a light breading rather than batter dipped. Daughter's BLT ($12) had a generous amount of thick-cut bacon, but it darned well better have with that price tag, haha. Only miss was dessert... Five fresh made donut holes about the size of a 75 caliber musket ball--on top of a light drizzle of chocolate sauce. It tasted fine, but in retrospect I cringe at the thought of paying $7 for the dish. Our young server was great, and took care of us and all those around the dining area. All in all, despite a truly 2021 price point, I want to visit them again. While I am an absolute frugal b*****d when it comes to dining out, if I can stay in my hometown and not drive a 50+ mile round trip for a higher end meal, I'm gonna factor in the time/gas money saved and order a nice steak for my beautiful Wifey next Val-Day. Awesome little Cafe with so much potential. If your looking for a good bite to eat, definitely come here. I had the tomato soup which was delicious and very home style and the meatloaf. My only suggestions on improvements is to keep the menu simple. For example, the meatloaf had an amazing flavor and was perfectly well seasoned. For some reason, they decide to cover it with some weird cheap sweet sauce that completely ruined it. When your flavors are this good, why ruin it ? Likewise with the tomato soup. They put some white powder in the center that resembled an extremely salty parmesan. It completely ruined it. Once I removed the sweet sauce and the powder, the meal was perfect. Please let your flavors do the talking and don't over do it. This place is so good, actually so so so good. read more

I was in Cheney Washington for business and was looking for someplace to grab a bite to eat. There wasn't a lot to choose from in the small college town but I decided to come here and try it out. I stopped in on a Thursday around 1 PM... It wasn't very busy and I was seated quickly. The waitress was friendly. She was able to answer my questions and made some recommendations. The chicken was good... It wasn't my favorite... I prefer a little more seasoning and flavor. And the "JoJos" which were basically potato wedges fried which tasted like the same seasoning the chicken was fried with. All in all I think the restaurant is nice and I would try again if I came in the area. I would just choose something different. read more

This place is super cute and I really wanted it to be as good as it looks. However, we have eaten here twice and it is sadly overpriced. They serve French fries in silver cups with parchment paper and the cups are only half full. For the pictured meal, We paid $10 for an appetizer shrimp and grits and another 10 for a Caprese salad. The shrimp and grits plate is sooooo small and there were 4 shrimp, not fresh, and 3 sausage coins! We entered at 715 and did not get our food until 815! There were only 3 other tables there. Husband ordered a burger for $16. It was a frozen patty, not fresh. When we asked for ketchup, they told us it would be 75cents for "extra sauce". They give one small tin cup of ranch, dressing, etc and if you want any more, they charge 75c for sauce. Sadly the food is only mediocre and again, not worth the bad service. The Farmhouse Cafe is definitely worth the 20 min drive out to Cheney! Last nite was my second visit and it was absolutely delicious! There are a few new items on the menu. This time I tried the fish (3 generous pieces) & with jojo's & Mule sauce, which is equal parts ketchup & horseradish. My cohorts both got the broasted chicken which was 4 nice pieces of crispy golden brown deliciousness. Last time I had the Going to Town Pork Chop with cheesy grits and veggies - really really good. But the Peach Cobbler topped the nite. Warm, creamy, fruitiness - transported me back to my childhood. read more

In a few words: a very average and fairly expensive meal In more words: I came in about 7:45 for dinner on a Friday. I couldn't decide between meatloaf and chicken fried steak, so i asked them which i should get. They told me that they were the two most popular dishes on the menu (exciting for me) and they explained that the CFS is not made with cube steak but is instead an actual steak which is cooked and breaded - they recommended i get that. So thats what i ordered. Then a few minutes later they told me that they were out of mashed potatoes... CFS without mashed potatoes is like pizza without dough. But i digress. They offered me a baked potato instead but i had them give me grits and fries (its not the same trust me). So there i am waiting for my food when a family comes in, orders, and is informed that the restaurant is out of baked potatoes (only a few minutes after offering me one, thank goodness I didn't try to get one or else I would have been double duped). When my food came i was unimpressed with the look of it. It looks like the dish has a case of melancholy. As i was eating another family got up to leave and asked for a dessert to go, which they were also out of (i was flabbergasted, truly). Let me emphasize that this restaurant is not busy enough to warrant running out of potatoes and desserts and lordy knows what else. Also this meal with a lemonade came to $26 so lets not forget that. Im willing to give these good folk the benefit of the doubt for a few reasons. 1. Its one of maybe 5 sit down places in Cheney 2. Things happen 3. The steak was cooked correctly and did not taste bad (not amazing but not bad) 4. They have other menu items that are unique that i want to try like broasted chicken. 5. The french fries were crispy and the homemade ranch was good (but very thin) 6. The universe hates me and didn't want me or anyone else to eat potatoes that day. In summation: come eat here and keep ordering things with potatoes so that they get the hint and start buying and preparing them again. Its not a bad place but it is overpriced. read more

Have went many times, however the last 2 times the food is not up to par. The chicken fried steak potatoes did not have gravey and when we ask for some it was going to be an extra charge whereas in the past it came with it. The pork chops were overcooked and dry. The seasonal veggies are now corn instead of the prior grilled veggies. read more

The food was absolutely phenomenal. My husbands steak was cooked perfectly and was VERY tender. My steak bites were also very tender and yummy. Decor is very nice inside, but we were seated outside because of how busy/booked they were. This was fine because it was warm at the time, but food took quite awhile and it became chilly (need to have heat lamps). Server was a nice young man who was quick to take our order. Cheese curds were good and my youngest son enjoyed his chicken strips. However, my wife's Boss Burger was barely cooked, when she ordered medium. She didn't bother to send it back given how long it had taken to get ("I would rather have had RR or even Macd's"). Worst of all by far, though, were the ribs. My oldest son and I each took a chance on the 1/2 slab "Mango BBQ" special, based on the server's recommendation. For $28 apiece we got: a side of passable grits, completely undercooked vegetables (how many people have to comment on this before you do something?!), and the worst excuse for ribs we've ever eaten. There was no discernable seasoning applied in prep or after (spice rub? salt and pepper?), they were not steam baked long enough (eventually gave up trying to get the meat off), nor were they finished in a broiler (mmm, grey, chewy meat...). The "mango BBQ sauce"? Green-ish gray, AGAIN zero seasoning/flavor, and the miniscule amount of mango involved was clearly underripe. After two bites, I went inside and asked for some salt, pepper and if they had any real BBQ sauce. When that server brought the S&P, and a small plastic cup of admittedly good BBQ sauce, I asked her for another for my son and was told they were $1 each. Since they didn't look like they were going to make some sort of effort to rectify the situation (never saw a manager), I got the extra sauce and we tried to eat as much as we could to get our money's worth (but most of it went uneaten). Our server did apologize and I still tipped 20% (it's not his abysmal cooking, and I get that he is required to say that the ribs are great) but after spending $140+, (to reverse the adage) I'm not disappointed, I'm mad (or to take a page from my wife), we had tastier, better prepared food at Arby's for lunch that day. I really like this place! Original menu items, not the same old items you can get everywhere else. Last time I had a grilled chicken sandwich which came with bacon, Dijon mustard and apples -- it was unique & delicious! I also love the shrimp and grits, My family has had several things on the menu (chicken dinner and burgers) and have not been disappointed. Service friendly, it is a bit expensive and not large portions if that's what you are looking for but great for a good quality meal. read more
