First time here but probably not the last! We were greeted right away and our server brought menus and took our drink order. Pretty much standard bar food, but done well. We split a bacon cheeseburger and fries and tartar sauce. (It's a Spokane thing, I think.) I added a side salad with house made blue cheese dressing. Everything was really good; the burger and fries were fresh and hot; the salad was a bit bigger than the usual. I ordered a dirty vodka martini but instead of olive juice the bartender had used pickle juice. We told the server and he brought another made correctly with olive juice. Let's start with the food and drink. Their steak bites on the appetizer menu awesome and ask for a side of their horseradish. They pair together well and the horseradish has a kick. Their Bloody Mary is made with horseradish too and was a pleasant and refreshing surprise. The pickled greenery were tasty and crunchy. The servers are busy but they hustle and are friendly. For the sports fan, there are lotsa screens to watch for favorite game or show, without sound of course, as they play a eclectic collection of relaxing tunes. Went here for the first time yesterday to try out restaurant week and it will likely be my last. My boyfriend and I's starters were great, I had high hopes for the rest of the meal! I got the strip joint night tenders for my main, he got the busted biscuit. My tenders came with a country gravy that was pretty much the whole reason I decided to get the tenders, and boy was that gravy a disgrace. It was absolutely disgusting, I had to ask for ranch on the side. Super watery, no flavor, and definitely made from powder and water. The tenders were also supposed to have a dry rub on them but they were completely plain. My boyfriend's food was EXTREMELY salty and I love salt but it made me need to sip my drink after having just one bite. The dessert was okay, nothing to rave about given it was basically just ice cream. The menu looked/sounded better than the food actually was. Sis and I stopped in to share a couple of appetizers. OMG! The Jalapeño Poppers and Mozzarella Wedges were both unbelievably huge and delicious! The last time I had poppers this huge at a different place, they were so spicy you couldn't eat them. The poppers at Screaming Yak had great mild flavor! Usually reliable, the Screaming Yak let me down today. Sat at the bar, asked for $17 parm/garlic wings, that I asked if they were dry rub. Told yes, I also asked for virtually naked wings, just a bit of garlic rub, or on the side. Well, they came literally buried in liquid garlic & parmesan, not rub. Swimming in it. My stomach cant handle that, so I really threw away $20. She did ask me if I wanted them to remove the sauce... lol. Thats not how to handle it. Should have recognized that it was wrong before bringing it to me. I've worked in plenty of restaurants, make it right or communicate better. This is not typical Yak food service, so I'm at a loss on what happened there. I'll be much more careful on communicating what I'm ordering next time, although I thought I had, and was not listened too... I have never experienced worst service to very valuable customers that are always there. The service has gone down over the last year alot ! I went in with my partner this morning to get a quick breakfast and head out as both of us had work and were on a tight schedule so we decided to come here. Firstly, the server gave my partner a dirty look when she said she needed her meal dairy free and gluten free. And from then on out had the expression of she doesn't want to be there and would walk past many times without checking on us. Anyways the sausage was not only cold but burnt to a crisp and the eggs for the eggs Benedict legitimately looked and tasted like a boiled hard egg, which was lukewarm so I had to eat only the sides and the burnt sausage due to the egg being inedible. And not to mention the hollandaise sauce had the texture of gravy! From the cook being able to look at that and send it out, to the waitress looking at it and thinking it is good to take out to customers, this place is not a place to get breakfast, or any food it seems. We have found that they actually have really good food here. We've tried many of the menu items and have never been disappointed. Pretty shocking for a bar to put out this kind of quality food. My favorite is the house made tarter sauce with their tater tots. The only downside that we've run across is that when it's busy it can get pretty loud. This was my first visit, and anytime I'm at a "new" restaurant I try either the French Dip (Yak Dip in this case) or the Reuben, provided they're on the menu. Both are! So hubby got the Reuben and I got the Yak Dip with sweet potato fries. Very good on both sides; the meats were lean, juicy, and tender. Fries done to perfection, with a dipping sauce for mine which enhanced the flavor. Service was spectacular. Four servers appeared at intervals to be certain we didn't wait long for a menu or drinks. We were allowed to sample the beers before settling on one (I liked the MacnJak(?), like an amber IPA). Food was timely and hot, beer cold, and the check came quickly. All in all a 5 star experience. I will be back. Just be prepared: this is a sports bar. Loads of large screen tv's with a different game on each, rather loud atmosphere. So if you're expecting more of a restaurant atmosphere, this may not be the place for you. However, families are welcome, at least until 9pm. read more

This time I got their Steak and Bake special. I was honestly impressed the steak was so tasty! It was seasoned very well, a tad more done then what we ordered, but no big deal. It comes with two pieces of crunchy toasty garlic bread and a dish of loaded mash potatoes. My friend who ordered the same pointed out to me her potatoes were cold. Mine was too. :( After pointing it out, they rectified it by giving us another side, piping hot. I've always had attentive service sitting in the bar area. They have an awesome happy hour menu for appetizers. You can mix and match multiple small plates for very cheap. Shared the steak bites and chicken wings with my girlfriend for $6. The horseradish sauce with the steak bites was delicious, also their parmesan garlic fries are very tasty. My brother-in-law and I spent about 3 hours here on a Saturday night catching up and just drinking beers. Aside from the complimentary peanuts, which you you are free to dispose of the shells on the floor, we didn't have anything to eat. We slugged down four pitchers of beer in the dining area and it wasn't so loud that we couldn't hear ourselves converse. There's plenty of room in the bar and plenty of high top and low top tables in the dining area. During our time, there were 5 or 6 people on the other side of the bar and maybe 2 or 3 others sitting at the bar for the entire time we were there. My brother-in-law said this bar used to be a lot busier a few years back, but barely breaking double digits in patrons on Saturday night does not bode well for them. Don't come here looking for a standing room only bar with plenty of talent of the opposite sex to gawk at, but maybe come just to hang out for some drinks and catch a game on one of the many television screens. The beer selection is average and I couldn't find a large selection of local/regional brews, but they do feature Hop Valley Brewing. Expect prices of around $5 for a pint and $14 for a pitcher. The bartenders were both very nice and with each round ordered, they ran out our pitchers to our table with clean pint glasses. When we called for a cab and were told it would be a 45 minute wait,they used their connections to get another company to come in less than 10 minutes. It definitely has a bar/sports bar type vibe but we liked the atmosphere which is laid back. We started off with blue cheese mushrooms which were amazing. My husband had the steak burger and I got their buffalo wings. The wings were really good though they were fried which I was hoping for non breaded. My bad for not asking.
