Wow, just wow! From the moment we walked in the door until the moment we left, we felt like royalty! We started with a shared Luna salad, it was crisp and flavorful like always. We had a lovely glass of California chardonnay and we both ordered the salmon as our entrée. The salmon was served with corn, onions and celery with roasted potatoes and a salmon cream sauce. It was amazing! We shared a blueberry cobbler for dessert, not because we were still hungry but because the desserts are so good at Luna. Luna is one of the most hyped restaurants in Spokane, so I had high expectations for it. The space is absolutely instagrammable, and honestly every corner was really photo worthy. That's probably the highlight of the whole experience. I started with the Cheshire Cat mocktail, which was a bit oversweet for me. For main course, I had sea bass for $48 (pan-seared fish served with onion-potato gnocchi, charred asparagus, mushrooms, and asparagus coulis). It was decent, but the portion felt small for the price. Salmon rillette ended up being the best dish! It was rich, savoury, and delicious when paired with pickled onions (the bread was slightly burnt - I hated it). Ended the meal with a vanilla gelato dessert - just okay, not too wow. Great Friday evening spot. The theming and restaurant layout were perfect, I felt like I was going over to a friend's house for dinner, very cozy! The food was phenomenal. The drinks took sometime to arrive to our table but I'm assuming the bar was just slammed because our waiter checked in on us with appropriate frequency, I wish I could remember his name to give him a shout out. Notes: the restaurant was quite loud, granted I went on a Friday evening, but there's not much space between tables so I wouldn't go there to discuss anything, catch up with an old friend, or on a first date. The good first.....ambience and friendly staff always a plus. But something was definitely amiss this last Friday night. Our party of 5 was immediately seated at 6:00 but waited 2 hours for our dinner to arrive. Four of the dinners were good and arrived together but the fifth was seared scallops, they were cooked on a low temp and not even seared....still white! Plus arrived after the other dinners! The table next to us also waited 2 hours for their meals!!!! They had ordered pizza (which came out over-baked, deep dark brown all over). The orders were flying out of the kitchen and the wait staff was quick to get them to their tables. To be fair management comped us an extra loaf of bread as we waited, 2 extra glasses of wine. The traffic noise was so loud with trucks going by, we had to move inside.We were told they could not accommodate us at 4 o'clock for the inside dining the bar was our only choice. Went out to diner with our friends. We had reservations (recommend highly to do this). They are open 4:00-8:00 so not a big window of time. Had a Bloody Mary ( I believe it was 18.00...Just for a regular one) I had a Luna salad...delicious Then I ordered the clams and coconut prawns (appetizers). The clams were okay. Lots of empty shells. I was sad. Prawns were okay as well. I felt they were a bit over cooked and hidden in a pile of rice and greens! Service was on point. We were seated in a back area that was not well lit for us young seniors to see. It was also a bit loud, not really sure why we felt that way. Acoustics maybe? Might try to go again. I understand how expensive it is to run a restaurant in Washington. Labor costs are among the highest in the country, taxes are overwhelming, and the list of challenges is endless. I truly get that. What I don't understand--and what left the strongest impression from our visit to Luna--is the choice to pass these costs onto customers in a way that feels hidden. A surprise 3.5% "service charge," which the receipt states is "100% retained by Luna," ended our evening on a sour note. And because it's added before tax, it's effectively closer to 4%. Here's my perspective: if it costs 3.5% more to operate, then raise your menu prices by 3.5%. It's that simple. No one is skipping a $48 sea bass because it becomes $49.68. I certainly wouldn't have. But tacking on an unexpected $10 at the end of the meal left me feeling misled--and gives me a reason not to return. There are plenty of other restaurants that don't do this. This practice isn't unique to Luna, but most places that add this kind of fee at least allow customers to opt out. Luna does not. That's the difference, and that's why this will be my last visit. Enjoy the extra $10. read more

Beautifully decorated restaurant with unique and delicious cocktails! The Head Over Heels and There and Back Again drinks were sweet and not strong. Food prices were a little high for the smaller portions and quality, but we really enjoyed the melt-in-your-mouth oxtail sliders and rich crab pasta. Staff was very attentive as well! read more

I was so disappointed in my meal tonight and everyone else felt the same. My mom & I both ordered the burger and I was bummed by how small, dry and very uneven the patty was. There was very little toppings on it and the buns barely had any sauce. For $22 it was underwhelming to be polite. My friend got the caesar salad with chicken ($13 to add half a chicken breast making it a $30 salad!!!) and couldn't eat it because it was rubbery and had an odd taste she said. The waitress did take it off of her bill which was nice. It also had very little dressing on it. Overall it felt skimpy, for the money I and for their reputation I expected much better. We haven't been to Luna in forever even though it's a 10 min for us. We celebrated my husbands birthday. The food was phenomenal, the service was excellent and the ambience was so lovely, we sat in the patio. I had the curry seafood I've never tasted anything so good! The salmon was perfectly poached and there was no sand in the clams, the sauce was a very light curry coconut broth. My husband had the filet cooked medium rare (came out more on the medium side, but that's ok) There was no knife needed for the steak, it melted in your mouth. He had a nice crisp beer and I had the Cheshire Cat, both great options. Desert was a flourless chocolate cake. Everything was so good! We went to LUNA tonight and had a very poor experience. The hamburgers we ordered came out burnt, and the salmon was served cold and way, way, way over-salted. Honestly, it was some of the worst-prepared food we've had in Spokane for a restaurant with this reputation. To make matters worse, the manager actually came out to ask how our meal was. We were polite but honest about our dissatisfaction. He nodded and left, and we expected at least some small accommodation on the bill. Instead, nothing was adjusted--and to our surprise, there was an additional 3.5% charge added for reasons that were never explained. That extra fee, on top of the already disappointing food, really sealed the experience as negative. Between the burnt burgers, the cold, salty salmon, and the feeling that our concerns weren't taken seriously, I can't recommend LUNA. Very overpriced for what we got, and we left feeling more frustrated than when we walked in. read more

And replace them with the weirdest unshareable "small plates" and entrees that START at $40. This is Spokane, not Canlis. Had the sea bass last night after an underwhelming smoked salmon with stale bread plate, and it was served with beans. Just an entire plate of cannellini beans. Who wants to eat a plate of bland white beans with bland white fish? So bizarre. Also, our waitress started off friendly then halfway through our meal, decided she didn't want to serve us anymore and was a complete B. Like why? Because we asked you not to take a drink away that still had booze in it? Sigh, I miss old Luna. And spending under $120 for a mediocre meal. But mostly I just miss coconut shrimp. read more

Pan Con Tomate - so flavorful, I wanted to jump in that bowl! Summer pasta- this was my fav dish! Fresh, light and flavorful! Crab pasta- this one is filling and worth the splurge Caesar salad- its hard to find a Caesar that blows me away. This one was solid. I liked the chop of the romaine and the dressing was good. I prefer a strong anchovy taste so would have liked it a bit stronger. The cocktails are impressive! Poolside and Range of Motion were unbelievable! Definitely a craft here!! It's very expensive and they taught their food as the best, I've eaten there twice and both times didn't enjoy my meal at all. Last time I paid extra for meat in a soup there were two bites added to the soup. It was mostly fat and not meat it was supposed to be minestrone and the beans were crunchy. My friend told me Luna is consistently good, so I was very excited to try it. Reservations can easily be made through OpenTable. There is a cute patio for warmer weather and plenty of seating inside too. Our server was very friendly. We sent him away a couple times because we were catching up and I was not really prepared to order. He took it in stride and never got upset with us. He just kept returning to our table with a smile. For dinner I had 1/2 the Luna Salad and a cup of the butternut squash bisque with dungeness crab. Together it was the perfect combination for a light meal. Additionally, Luna has a nice wine list. The dessert menu looked amazing, but we were stuffed and opted to forgo dessert. The meal and entire experience was so fantastic that we joked about returning to Spokane simply to eat dinner at Luna again. Yes, it was that good! We ordered the crab pasta and Thai seafood curry. The portions compared to the price is horrible. I am a frequent customer and every time I leave I feel as if I've been robbed. Yes the service and atmosphere is nice and the small portions are delicious. However, can you not add a simple serving of vegetables or starch to your minuscule portion of fish? My wife's tiny salmon looked lonely on the giant plate. It was delicious though. My son and I had an interesting rendition of your bouillabaisse. Rather than a seafood broth, the bowl was strewn with a thick paste along with meager portions of various shellfish and fish. To add insult to injury, they automatically add a 10% service charge. Where to start? First impression was the place was excessively loud. So what do you do to chat... raise your voice, then others raise their voices, and how do you enjoy a meal out? stupid. Why? So asked to sit outside. Quieter for sure but traffic noise from 29th street was not pleasant. Having Big trucks, motorcycles, etc. interrupt conversations is not a dining experience. Next, spouse ordered a pasta dish which had pasta noodles at least a meter long... how does one manage that? Are we supposed think this is chic? envision diners at an asian noodle place sucking up their noodles... no racial bias intended, just making the point the pasta is awkward to eat . Again, stupid. Next I ordered a pizza. Imagine some pepperoni on a paper thin cracker crust with no sauce, no cheese and burned black crust. I would rather have a $4 frozen pizza from the supermarket that I would easily prevent from burning to a crisp., and get some sauce and cheese! What did I get... a $23 dollar waste of money. Waiter saw the pile of wasted blacked crust and said "I don't eat pizza crust either" but didn't acknowledge the obvious reason the charcoal black crust was piled off to the side because it was inedible. Luna always knocks it out of the park! The ambiance is always super cozy and inviting with dimmed lighting, plants, and a gorgeous and aesthetic design. The food was incredible. I started with a delicious cocktail called "I'll have another" that had a light, fruity taste made with blueberry, lavender, and gin. I can assure you I had another. Next, we ordered some appetizers. The crab cakes were overpriced in my opinion, but good. The tuna tartare was super fresh and tasty, as well as a larger portion than the crab cakes. My dinner was perfectly cooked, airy, and light. I ordered the Sea Bass which has become my go-to order here!! The service was a little disappointing, as it took a while for our food to come, but it was mother's day and graduation weekend in Spokane. Luna is not as good as it once was. The service is still great, but the food offered has become below average. The prices are steep for what you get, which then causes the food to taste worse than what it probably is because you'd expect mind blowing quality if you're paying that kind of price tag. But everything was just so-so. They don't go heavy on protein on the flatbreads. $30 for the 2 crab cakes doesn't get you much. It was over fried, salty, and small. I've had better "crab cake" from the grocery store frozen section. Not exaggerating. The sliders were just okay. I straight up just did not like the cheesecake, and I'm not sure how you can mess up cheesecake? The coconut cake was yummy though. We were surprised at the limited options and high prices but we thought, it must be worth it. The drinks were full pours so that was a good start (although the beer was the most expensive We had purchased anywhere). Being put off by the prices we decided to split a meal, share a salad and have flatbread as an appetizer. The flatbed was very good, though spicy (thank God we had the jalapeños on the side)! The salad was a generous portion and sufficient for two to share. The crab pasta dish had a funky taste and three (yes 3) bite size pieces of crab! For $40! It was very disappointing. We were seated next to a group of 7 women and could hardly hear each other. The restaurant is very LOUD. Our waiter was quick, attentive, and very good. Cutest little date night spot on the South Hill! We went for my birthday and the waiter was super amazing at recommending items for us to try. Firstly, the cocktails were delicious! My husband said they were the best he's had in the area. I can't remember the name of the drink but it was like "backyard porch" or something haha. We had the crab cakes and demolished those in 5 minutes. I got the bean pasta based on the waiters recommendation and my husband got the sea bass-- I liked my dish better but both were super delicious.
