Where to start? First impression was the place was excessively loud. So what do you do to chat... raise your voice, then others raise their voices, and how do you enjoy a meal out? stupid. Why? So asked to sit outside. Quieter for sure but traffic noise from 29th street was not pleasant. Having Big trucks, motorcycles, etc. interrupt conversations is not a dining experience. Next, spouse ordered a pasta dish which had pasta noodles at least a meter long... how does one manage that? Are we supposed think this is chic? envision diners at an asian noodle place sucking up their noodles... no racial bias intended, just making the point the pasta is awkward to eat . Again, stupid. Next I ordered a pizza. Imagine some pepperoni on a paper thin cracker crust with no sauce, no cheese and burned black crust. I would rather have a $4 frozen pizza from the supermarket that I would easily prevent from burning to a crisp., and get some sauce and cheese! What did I get... a $23 dollar waste of money. Waiter saw the pile of wasted blacked crust and said "I don't eat pizza crust either" but didn't acknowledge the obvious reason the charcoal black crust was piled off to the side because it was inedible. The sea bass dish was really nice. The crab bisque dish was just ok and the bread was cold, which was unfortunate. Still, the staff were absolutely wonderful and the spot is stunningly beautiful. The blueberry cobbler was just ok, but the beignets are nice. I would definitely return. read more

Luna is not as good as it once was. The service is still great, but the food offered has become below average. The prices are steep for what you get, which then causes the food to taste worse than what it probably is because you'd expect mind blowing quality if you're paying that kind of price tag. But everything was just so-so. They don't go heavy on protein on the flatbreads. $30 for the 2 crab cakes doesn't get you much. It was over fried, salty, and small. I've had better "crab cake" from the grocery store frozen section. Not exaggerating. The sliders were just okay. I straight up just did not like the cheesecake, and I'm not sure how you can mess up cheesecake? The coconut cake was yummy though. OVERPRICED! We had been to two highly rated Spokane restaurants the two previous nights and we're excited to try this one. We were surprised at the limited options and high prices but we thought, it must be worth it. The drinks were full pours so that was a good start (although the beer was the most expensive We had purchased anywhere). Being put off by the prices we decided to split a meal, share a salad and have flatbread as an appetizer. The flatbed was very good, though spicy (thank God we had the jalapeños on the side)! The salad was a generous portion and sufficient for two to share. The crab pasta dish had a funky taste and three (yes 3) bite size pieces of crab! For $40! It was very disappointing. We were seated next to a group of 7 women and could hardly hear each other. The restaurant is very LOUD. Our waiter was quick, attentive, and very good. Cutest little date night spot on the South Hill! We went for my birthday and the waiter was super amazing at recommending items for us to try. Firstly, the cocktails were delicious! My husband said they were the best he's had in the area. I can't remember the name of the drink but it was like "backyard porch" or something haha. We had the crab cakes and demolished those in 5 minutes. I got the bean pasta based on the waiters recommendation and my husband got the sea bass-- I liked my dish better but both were super delicious. been here 6 times in the last 3 years and the last 2 times recently have been very subpar. The Luna burger has become SO TINY- and the bread they served us was so stale and hard to cut (Even though they said they bake everything fresh the morning of). Not sure what happened with that loaf....all other times I've come to Luna Ive had no issues cutting their bread but something was wrong with that batch. Also I tried to book a table for 7 people online, but apparently online u can only book 6 or less. I figured I'd ask to just have an additional chair added to a 6 person table or we could squeeze 4 into one side of a booth (our party is generally mostly skinny folks) And so just kept the online booking for 6. We Arrived and were told they absolutely cannnot accommodate 7 into the booth they reserved for us (plates being too big) and to see if we would sit outside on the patio (was late June so pretty hot outside and loud cars racing by). i said no I'd prefer inside and they finally offered the 12 person table cause that's all they had available. After that it just seemed to go down hill. Food portions are tiny for what you're paying. Also they have such limited hours- closing at 8 pm when we sat down for dinner at 645- felt like we were being rushed out. Disappointed at how far this place has fallen. I used to be the biggest fan and now I just can't say that. All the food I used to love is now gone or they have changed. For example, the Luna burger is now gone and has been replaced by honestly the worst burger I have ever had. If it isn't broke don't fix it and they tried to fix it and it has not been good since. They used to have the most AMAZING tuna tartare, but it is now gone and it probably not coming back. My biggest piece of advise is they need to go back to their roots before it is too late and they put themselves out of business. They start you off with complementary bread in housemaid and oh my God it's amazing. Ours was warmmmmmm yummy. They gave you just enough so you're not completely full before your meal comes. Lol. We ordered coconut prawns lentil salmon and a burger everything was amazing flavorful homemade fresh. I read some reviews were they say portion sizes are small but definitely order appetizer entrée and if you have room thing get dessert. I barely have any room for dessert and we still got it. I SO wanted to be able to give Luna a 5-star review as there is so much to love there. But based on our 2 1/4 hour dinner experience last night, 4 stars is a bit generous. Here's what's great: The friendly staff, the ambiance, the food, the drinks. All first class! Why 4 rather than 5 stars? Service and pricing. The place was busy and I'm sure our server had her hands full, literally. But It took over half an hour for the steamed mussels appetizer to be served once we ordered it. Timing with our drinks and food was way off as well. Although they tasted great, we could not believe that there were only nine mussels in the entire serving--$2.00 per mussel. Living in the PNW where mussels are cheap and plentiful, this pricing is truly over the top. Then it took another eternity for the main course to be served. My husband ordered the duck, which was of top quality and very tender. I ordered the crab pasta, which was also excellent. All in all, the meal took at least 45 minutes longer than we had expected and it would have been a leisurely dinner without that extra delay. We still recommend Luna and will go back when in Spokane. read more

Beautiful Ambiance, Delicious Food and Impecable Service My family and I have eaten at Luna several times for special occasions. Each time it has been a wonderful experience with delicious foods and drinks with extra special service. My personal favorite meal is the Chilean Sea Bass, but the Wood Oven Pizza's are outstanding as well. The prices are a bit steep, but definitely worth it for a special evening out. From the parking lot, we saw pretty gardens, lime, and fig trees. Stepping in, it was beautifully decorated and welcoming. The servers were great and we started off with drinks. All 7 of us enjoyed the various drinks except one - the "Via Vitali" tasted medicinal so I asked if they could exchange it for the "Dog Days" with half the sweetness. They did it with no problems and it was delicious. We had: 1) beet salad - 5/5. Delicious and a generous portion of beets. 2) sea bass - 5/5. Tender and perfectly cooked. Unassuming, but just enough flavors. 3) duck - 5/5. Didn't try it, but friend said she liked it. 4) salmon - 5/5. Also didn't try it. Good reports. 5) crab pasta - 5/5. Freshly made pasta was on point. 6) poppy seed beignets - 4/5. Toasty hot, crispy and good with the lemon curd. 7) cookies & cream cake - 4/5. Really dense. More like a fudge. The filet was cooked to order and mouthwateringly tender. Asparagus, potatoes, and mushrooms were the best I've had and went really well all together. We also had some good Prosecco with dinner. We finished off with their version of a baked Alaska(special) Gluten free too! The gelato and passion fruit were so good! The gluten free almond flour cake layer was also fantastic. I love this place so much that I considered quitting my job to move to the cure neighborhood where this restaurant is. I was excited from the moment we pulled into the parking lot and saw not only a large (hibernating) garden but also a chicken coop. You don't get much more farm to table than that. And every experience after that confirmed my initial delight. Our server was extremely professional and knowledgable. I love being able to ask about sparkling wines and get an answer from someone who knows what I mean. She was also patient and helpful. And while I don't expect it, I always appreciate being given bread right away. Especially when it's some of the freshest, tastiest ciabatta I've had in a very long time. So good we bought a loaf of it and of the wheat sourdough to go. And every bite of our food was delicious: the special crab bisque, the daily butternut bisque, the Luna salad, and THE BEST burger. Mmmmm, such a good burger. More burger please! So, so even though it's unlikely we'll move there anytime soon, it's 100% likely we'll be returning, especially to try to porch dining! A south hill gem, we sat on the patio and it did not feel like we were in Spokane. Very quaint. The food was presented beautifully. We started with the lemon poppy seed beignets, they were more like donut holes but still tasted great.
