It smelled amazing when we first walked in and we were immediately greeted and seated. Service was amazing! It was fast and efficient and our waitress made the process smooth and fast. We got two apps, the flatbread and the loaded deviled eggs. The devil eggs were creamy topped with smoky bacon and a pungent parm crisp. It was lovely! The filling was smooth and the smokiness of the bacon cut the richness of the filling. The parm added a wonderfully taste as well as added a interesting texture. The star of the apps was definitely the flatbread though. It was a soft bread with a sweetness chili based topped with bacon, peppers, and onions! It was delicious! The sweetness paired with the bacon was brilliant! I got the shrimp pasta! The sauce was beautiful and the shrimp were juicy and cooked perfectly. The wine was cooked off wonderfully leaving just a hint of flavor with none of the bitterness. The burger was juicy and the cheese was wonderfully meaty. The bun was fresh and bouncy. The veg were fresh and while we weren't ask how we wanted the meat cooked (my sister is very picky) it was cooked to her liking. The least strongest dish was the schnitzel. Stopped in recently before a show at the Fox and was graciously received and seated at the bar immediately. The spot (which is down stairs fyi) has great decor and ambiance. The bartender was fantastic and while busy, was still very attentive. The showstopper was really the menu. Fun quirky atmosphere that is located in the basement. Upon entering street side you go down stairs and greeted by the hostess. You can sit at a table or the bar. I opted for the bar. If you're ever in Spokane, this place is an entire vibe. Worth the parking hassle (it's hard to find parking on a Saturday night, but what else is new?) to visit for a cocktail. Not ADA (there's a set of stairs to go down and no elevator -- it's in an older building. Follow the signs and head down the stairs...and you'll find yourself in a high-ceiling cellar-like space that is somehow both cosy and spacious at the same time. Love the brick walls and the chandeliers. The loaded deviled eggs were impressive to behold and good to eat; the whipped potatoes were under whelming. The banana peanut dessert was rich and enjoyable with a pint of beer. Friends had cocktails, including an Old Fashioned, that were well-appreciated. Only regret was that we had already eaten dinner, so we were too full to have more than just bites and dessert and drinks, b/c the people next to us looked like they were eating delicious meals. I've never not finished a meal in my life. Salad was full of gross rotten lettuce and I asked for balsamic but received a container each of oil and a container of vinegar - not mixed. The gnocchi was actually inedible - like gummy and hard to swallow. Drink was good but for $15 at least make it pretty and put a garnish in it. The prices are also reasonable. Now, the not so good...We made Valentine's Day reservations several months ago, yet found ourselves at a fairly crowded, uncomfortable table right by the kitchen. Secondly, the entrées were disappointing. I had the shrimp scampi which had way too much red pepper, and was actually too spicy for me to eat. Not what you'd expect with shrimp scampi. My husband had the gnocchi, which was just mediocre. We both love gnocchi, just not this one. We can't totally put our finger on it, the flavor of the sauce just wasn't great. Then, all of their college friends crash the party and they have no idea what fancy us and the value of money and so think that's it's awesome. We have extra family over and decided to take them out for dinner and settled on trying The Gilded Unicorn for the first time. None of our party of 6 was disappointed. Our drinks, starters and entrees were all delicious, served hot and in a very timely manner. There is a casual but upscale quality to the restaurant and was a bit loud but only because people were having a great time. Our waiter although busy, kept up with all of our needs and was very pleasant. I would highly recommend dinner here to anyone. read more

My wife had a cider and a Guinevere, each for $5. I also had a Do I Dare at full price, $15. Rare to find a cocktail with Fernet. Both cocktails were will crafted. Both the butternut squash soup and chili were good and flavorful, especially the soup. The Rangoons were meh. The bocce rolls were better, but were really just a good doughy bread. Last visit the hostess sent us upstairs to Griffin while waiting for table and Griffin said it was a 30 min wait for a drink or drink card and to tell hostess to stop sending people upstairs. Got text to finally seat our 4 top but hostess wrote 2 top so we had to shuffle tables and chairs it was uncomfortable but we made it work. Went to restroom and there was a server standing leaning on counter on her phone. Came out of stall and had to ask her to move so I could get to sink to wash hands. Total oblivion. Meanwhile our server was nice but didn't come around much. Beers took 15 min to get. Drinks were faster then beer but very hard to get another. The food was still very good but man the service has gone down hill. Will find new place as our go-to fave. read more

Disappointing We made a reservation in the main dining room at 5pm on Sunday evening. We were running late due to traffic so we called, at 5pm to let them know we were going to be late and if we were still good for the reservation (20 minutes late total). The man in the phone said we could still come but we would be to be out of the 1.5 hours after our reservation as someone else was booked at our table. We show up and despite there being a table in the main dining we got sat in a random service lobby by the bathrooms and service elevators for housekeeping. It's decorated very tastefully in a kind of medieval/modern way and their drinks are named appropriately. I had the Guinevere - a grapefruit/vodka concoction. It was delightful, but a little sweet for my taste. We weren't in much of mood for food at 3 PM, but they have a great appetizer menu as well.
