Veggie scramble
Charley B.

Super good brunch spot in Spokane. We went right at 8am and were the first ones there on a Saturday morning but the place filled up FAST + rightly fully so. The food was great, and the menu had tons of options from savory to sweet to more lunch items + lots of fun drinks. We got the veggie scramble and the loaded scramble with the country medley potato's- 10/10. The servers were so friendly, and great with the rush. I recommend for a breakfast spot in Spokane!

Chicken fried steak and chicken and waffles
Steve B.

Service: Our waitress was great. Friendly, quick, laughed at my jokes, and handled everything smoothly. Zero complaints. If this review were based on her alone, we'd be planning a second date. Food: I had the chicken fried steak. Flavor was solid, eggs were cooked perfectly over medium, and the fried potato medley was legit. The breading, however, did not want to commit and slid off the steak like it had somewhere else to be. My wife ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was cooked perfectly... moist, flavorful, no notes. The waffle had an interesting flavor profile. It tasted fine to me, but the cinnamon came in hot. Less "hint of cinnamon," more "main character energy." Vibe: Nice spot overall. My wife, who operates at near-elite cleanliness standards, thought it could be cleaner. I thought it was fine. Jury's out. Price (aka "The Relationship Red Flag"): Menu prices were reasonable... honestly, they could've even been slightly higher and I wouldn't have cared. But here's the issue. There's a mandatory 16% service charge. Yes, it is technically disclosed... buried at the very bottom of the menu, tacked onto the end of a sentence about Washington's 9% sales tax. Bolded, sure... but not explained, not obvious, and not something most people would catch before paying. So now we're at: 9% tax 16% service charge tip (because most people don't notice in time) That's over 25% extra, and suddenly brunch feels like a pop quiz in math I didn't study for. This takes tipping out of the customer's hands and turns it into forced gratuity. Good service, bad service, amazing food, disappointing food... the charge is coming either way. That just doesn't sit right with me. I'm a good tipper. I'm also a fan of transparency. This trend isn't it, and it's the kind of thing that makes people rethink eating out altogether. Final Verdict: Good service. Good food. Nice space. But the hidden-feeling surcharge killed the vibe. So Brunchenette... we had some good times. But the trust is gone. We are broken up at this point. It's not me. It's definitely you. *To be fair, the 2 star rating in this review reflects what I feel (even though it is disclosed vaguely) the deceptive service fee. This does not reflect the food, service, or atmosphere of the restaurant.

Been here several times and the food is always delicious and the portions are a good size. The place is clean and staff is friendly. This has become one of my go to brunch spots while in Spokane.

Brisket Hash with Sunny Side Up Egg

I had a great experience at Bruncheonette! I came in on a weekday with 4 others, and got seated with no issue. I've heard about Bruncheonette for a while now, and was looking forward to trying a new breakfast spot while I'm still in Spokane! I saw previous reviews had pretty hit or miss experiences with the service, but I thought my waitress today was great! She was kind, attentive, and definitely seemed like she enjoyed her job and interacting with customers. Food came out fairly quickly -- I got the smoked brisket hash, as well as an apple cider. The apple cider was warm and cozy, which was much needed on a chilly day! I thought the hash was great too, I didn't think I would be full but I but the quantity was perfect. It was flavorful, and not too dry (I feel like brisket often comes out pretty dry). Honestly, there were so many other things on the menu that I wanted to try as well, I would definitely come back!

If I could give 6 stars, Bruncheonette would definitely receive them. Tremendous breakfast and service was phenomenal. We came on Monday, the last day we were in Spokane and what a treat for all of us. Our daughter and I started with a special Mimosa, hers being Mango and mine Peach. So good. My wife had the Vegan Breakfast Tacos with Tater Tots and she loved it. Our daughter and I each had the Chicken Fried Steak...and it ranks with the best. So tender, and the gravy was extremely flavorful. I had fries and our daughter had the tots as the accompanying item. The eggs were also a perfect over easy. Chyrsten was also extremely friendly and engaging. She knew the menu quite well, and assisted us in ordering. I wish Bruncheonette was in the Portland area as we would be regulars. Thank you for a great visit.

Came here on a work trip and had a very nice brunch with many choices of mimosas. The environment of the restaurant was very nice, pretty lowkey and quiet place located in cute downtown Spokane. We had a relatively big group and the service was phenomenal. The food was very well made for the most part - I got the brisket hash scramble and loved the flavors, but some of my other coworkers didn't enjoy the breakfast burrito as much.

This place is for vegans, vegetarians, meat lovers, and all of the above! The place is cute, quiet, just like every other part of Spokane. It was a Sunday so granted they were busy. The wait time was about 45 minutes but that was cool with us as we walked around for a bit to waste the time. Our server was sweet and very accommodating to us all, especially as we were quite indecisive per the LARGE SELECTION OF MIMOSAS! LAWD! I loved it. I have yet to have a vegan Benedict and this place blew me out of the water. I even considered coming back on my drive back to Seattle! The flavour of everything was top tier, and I'm not too big on breakfast. This place did it for me. I wil be visiting again if ever in the area.

Chilaquiles.
Alvaro F.

This place is usually experiencing long wait times - today we were advised a 45 minute wait but we're seated in 15. Came here for brunch to catch up with friends - I always love this place because the mimosas are tasty, the food is always great, and the atmosphere is pretty soothing. It's not too loud and I'm able to have conversations with my table. I used to get the "Snowball" mimosa but they discontinued it from their selection. Now I try a new mimosa every time I come here. The prickly pear is a must try if you want a different mimosa than you're used to. For food I had chilaquiles and also shared pancakes (ate them before I could take a picture). This is one of my favorite spots. Highly recommend if you want a "Spokane" spot that you can't find anywhere else.

Homemade Granola and Yogurt, Chicken and Biscuit

The servers were so sweet, food was amazing and absolutely delicious (we spent five minutes studying the menu to figure out what we wanted because everyone elses food looked so good), and it was so cute inside!!! Absolutely would come again

Honestly, an incredible gem in the Spokane area... They take incredible pride in handcrafting their food, and using outstanding ingredients that they mixed really well together... Cute little place and the service heightened the experience.

Tamale waffle, turkey crossanwich, brisket scramble, and the chicken breakfast sandwich!'

Delicious, delicious, delicious! I ended up getting the tamale waffle which was perfectly combined and flavorful! The menu is so fun with so many varying options. The inside is cute and the staff was super friendly and helpful!

Vegan Benedict

Came here for the vegan options and it was AMAZING. I haven't had hollandaise sauce in years and it was so good! My (not vegan) friend got the carrot cake French toast and also loved it. If I am ever in town I will definitely be coming again.

This is the Chicken and Biscuit!
Pastor Phil H.

The food was great. The cheddar drop biscuit was unique and I would order them every time I eat here. I had the chicken and biscuit. If I are here everyday, I'd have to get tired of that before I'd order anything else. This is not your average breakfast joint. Service was personal and friendly as well! The young lady that took care of us offered her suggestions and answered questions we had as "first timers". It's an artsy, eclectic place, close to the downtown area. The curb look doesn't do it justice. It's a nice, easygoing place when you get inside. The people that work there seem to really like there jobs, other than the little dishwasher lady. She was on a vengeance run in the kitchen.

Honestly, Wooden City really lives up to its hype. It's an upscale spot right in downtown Spokane,…read morebut still feels warm and lively instead of overly formal. Definitely one of the best-quality restaurants in the city, where every dish was thoughtfully made and packed with flavor. What we ordered: Starters: - Spring Salad: Super fresh and well-balanced. The snap peas were crisp, with strawberries added for sweetness, and the goat cheese + pistachios gave it a creamy, nutty contrast. The lemon & tarragon vinaigrette tied everything together with a light, herby flavor. - Jerk Cauliflower: Crunchy cauliflower with Caribbean spices with a creamy jerk sauce, good as a side Appetizers: - Peel 'n' Eat Shrimp: Really juicy and spicy from the Cajun spice. There's butter to dip in but I found it too greasy and prefer lemon instead. - Blistered Hungarian Peppers: Smoky pepper with some sweetness and savory from the sausage and cheddar. Served with a toasted focaccia that soak up all the sauce. Main dishes: - Chicken Schnitzel: One of the must-orders. Crispy, golden breading, super tender inside. The lemon & caper butter sauce added acidity and richness that elevated the whole dish. Yoy have to order extra because it's never enough for the table. Yes, it's that good. - Marbled Duroc Pork Chop: Another favorite . Juicy and tender, with 'nduja salsa brava bringing a spicy depth, while lemon tahini and marcona almonds added creaminess and crunch. I always missed tasting this dish like my first time - Beet Ravioli: Earthy and slightly sweet flavor, nice texture but I hate goat cheese so I'm not really a fan of this dish - Pesto Bacon Pizza: Delicious crunch, loved the combo of mozzarella and gorgonzola, kind of creamy with a bit of funk. Balsamic do help balance and gave it a sweet tangy flavor, or else it would be too heavy for me (yes, not a pizza fan) Drinks & Dessert - Not Mai Tai mocktail: very aesthetically looking drink, but a bit too sweet to my liking - Apple crisp: cozy and warm, with baked apple & pecan crumble and served with vanilla ice cream on top. Delicious ice cream. - Pumpkin cheesecake: My 3rd favorite of the night, I still dream about it!! Rich, smooth, and perfectly spiced, you shouldn't skip this!!! That said, I do have to take away a couple points for timing. Our foods took 45 mins to come out even though I had reservations and note the menu items via the email, and the wait time between each dish was also... very confusing. It broke the flow of our meal. But once the food hit the table, it was hard to stay mad, so I forgave them.

First, I had no idea who was an employee. There were two girls that were going around together over and over, they kept stopping at tables so I think they worked there...but they never had anything in their hands. Our server seemed to keep forgetting we were there. Or just forgetting she was employed in general. Seriously just not with it. She was very nice...when she remembered we were there. I will say the pizza crust tasted amazing. So many places that serve pizza think of the crust as just something to put toppings on, but this had great flavor. Sadly, it was rolled too thin and said toppings made it somewhat soggy. Caesar salad was ok. Romaine was really fresh and crisp and the homemade croutons were still a little warm. Very good. However, the dressing was rather bland. And when I asked for pepper for it, our waitress first had it in her head that I expected some kind of peppers on my salad. When she finally understood I meant black pepper, she went away. Eventually she returned. Not with a pepper grinder or a shaker, but a sauce bowl that had about 3 tablespoons of black pepper in it. I wouldn't use that much pepper if I cooked for myself for a week and used it with every dish. Had to ask for knives for some of people's meals. I will say the spicy lamb rigatoni was amazing, pasta just right and the sauce and flavor was peak. I am just not sure what to say, other than this was the strangest and most disorganized dining experience I have ever had. I think if a grown up showed up and brought the kids into line, this place would be amazing. Also, for what we paid, I expected to be wowed, not left wondering what I just experienced.

It was very dirty and blue cheese stuffed olives were a plus. - the love bun was to die for- definitely a treat l, filled with ooey gooey cheese and a solid spice from the jalapeño. - the ravioli was delicious- hearty, filling and flavorful, served with a generous portion of chicken on top. - prawn phad thai was a gamble and not your typical fast order noodle dish. This flavorful dish was beautifully presented with ample prawns. It was extra saucy and a on the sweet side, which I didn't expect for phad thai but was glad I tried . I'm not sure I'd call it phad thai and that's probably the disconnect. It's more of a veggie and prawn noodle dish with a small Asian flair, definitely not a glamorous name , haha! Dessert The crème brûlée is the dessert winner - the citrus flair was light and refreshing. The mud pie was just ok. Lots of ice cream on a cookie crust but not sure I'd call it mud pie.

They were quick and accommodating about that request and the trout was delicious. The mashed potatoes and asparagus on the side were great. Overall, the experience was really good but not quite excellent.
