My daughter brought me here for breakfast on 2/2/25 and on 7/19/26. My first visit on 2/2/25 to this chain restaurant. There is one in Puyallup where I reside however, I haven't been. This restaurant is nice and aesthetically pleasing. It's pretty spacious. I love the stained glass in the windows So far, I've tried the following: -Pecan Pancakes with sausage patties/eggs -Country Fried Steak -Buckwheat Pancakes -The Dutch Baby -Buttermilk Pancakes -Classic Egg Benedict -Coffee -Green tea -Cranberry juice I truly have enjoyed every meal. The Original Pancake House is a classic breakfast spot serving made-from-scratch breakfast and brunch since 1953. When I tried Spokane location, I honestly didn't expect a chain restaurant to be this good. The place was not so busy, so food was quick, friendly staff. I got the biscuits and gravy with sunny side eggs. The biscuit was fluffy, soft inside. But the best thing was the sausage gravy. Very savory, creamy and rich, combining with runny egg yolk, beautifully!!! Portions are big, definitely filling. I couldn't finish my portion. I've been to other The Original Pancake House locations and was so disappointed with this experience. I came here by myself on a Sunday for brunch, fully expecting the wait to be long. It was, but what perplexed me is that they had a whole section of the dining room closed AND they were short-staffed. I waited 1.5 hours to be seated. Once I was seated, as expected, service was slow. It took 15 mins for a server to come by to take my drink order. I ordered a coffee and ice water, which came out quickly, so that was nice. I asked for Splenda and that took 10 mins to get. That was the cadence of my brunch experience. As for the food. Normally, I really love their Swedish Pancakes. They're supposed to be thin and lacy, with some crispy pieces. These were flat and colorless. After one bite, I thought I was eating a plain crepe. They were beige, not golden brown. I also ordered 2 eggs over medium and they came out well done. The chicken sausage was nice, I liked the little bit of sweetness it has. I will say, the servers and other team members were generally nice, which is mostly reflected in the stars achieved in this review, but otherwise, I was unsatisfied with my dining experience. read more

Tried this on President's Day for brunch and I have mixed feelings about the experience. We went into the restaurant - which if you haven't been here since it was Luigi's it looks totally different now - and we waited at the host stand for a solid 15-20 minutes before someone was able to help. Their systems were down and thus they were only able to accept cash or the QR code thing to pay. After finally getting seated the BEST waitress helped us. She was seriously so much fun and had the best sense of humor when talking to our table. The orange juice tasted freshly squeezed (yummy!). I also ordered the senior plate - bacon (perfectly crispy), egg (2/10) and blueberry pancakes (one of the three was severely undercooked so I didn't eat it, but the other two were perfect and delicious!). Overall this was a great experience. If the scene when getting to the host stand is different in the future and their systems are up this will be a solid five stars. Three stars for this visit. The menu options are amazing, the food portions were good, the flavor of the pancakes & even country fried steak flavor was a little different but it does say they use buttermilk so I'm guessing that's why. **I would suggest you ask for the eggs to be cooked a little more than normal. I wish I would've. My husband also thought they tasted like fake eggs in a carton and he & I were weirded out by them. Aside from the eggs, everything was good! We eat here occasionally & its been good, but things have changed. Tried to order the corn flake French toast listed on the menu and the server informed it was no longer offered. We ordered 2 other breakfasts. The breakfast potatoes they used to serve are now the frozen diced potatoes from the grocery store. The corned hash turned out to be a thin patty the size of one of their pancakes , with 3 small pancakes & eggs for $21. When we went to pay, the restaurant had sent a 20% off offer in their rewards program the previous day, but were informed there were new owners and they had not set up rewards yet. While we finally had the opportunity to find out that the food was delicious, the disappointment of watching other patrons, who came in after us, get served their meals, finish eating, and receive their checks before we even got our food, was beyond frustrating. Not just one party was served before us, three separate tables were. Mind you, we were a party of two and had a simple order, as seen in pictures. We did get our coffee refilled by an employee designated to do so, but our waiter did not check in on us or our order for an extended amount of time. By the time he did come around, our food was just coming out, a wait of about an hour and a half. We don't mind waiting whatsoever, if it is understandable, but in this instance, we were skipped over and sadly forgotten about. We will not be returning due to this discrepancy. Food, as expected, is excellent. We first encountered OPH back in Dayton Ohio, and they're an amazing breakfast joint. Their pancakes are truly better than even homemade pancakes. The one ding I have to give them is the decision making process that led to there being a lone waitress taking care of the whole house on a busy Saturday morning. Took over 45min to get our food from ordering, and our coffee was forgotten about. My heart goes out to the staff being a skeleton crew trying to manage around 18+ full booths and tables with one waitress, and a one of the kitchen staff trying to bring out food. Management: your restaurant will not last if it takes patrons an inordinate amount of time to get their food. If you're going to help in the front in place of another waiter(ess), you've gotta hustle. You're a breakfast place, one waitress isn't cutting it for the 8 O'clock hour on a weekend. I came here around 11 for an early lunch while in the area for a work training. I got seated right away and the greeter ended up taking my order since the waitress hadn't made it around. I wish they would have asked if I'd like to add some bacon or some kind of meat since it didn't occur to me that that was missing until I got my plate. The food was all very good. First time at The Original Pancake House! It was so good! Very classic American style breakfast. They had fresh OJ and cranberry. The portion sizes were pretty good as well. Was worth what we spent:) OPH was very clean and decorations were cute. They take reservations morning of which was really nice! The crepes were good! Definitely a new flavor for me. My sister loved them and wanted to get them again but they were nice to try just not my favorite! Their biscuits and gravy were so delicious with over medium eggs! We waited for a while to be seated, and I finally went to ask the waitress if we could be seated, she was standing in the back. She said she wasn't clocked in yet... hmm... then we were told the food was running behind due there only being 1 cook... eek... we had come in for breakfast before heading to the airport, so I didn't have hours to spare. They did promise to do their best. We asked the waitress for hot sauce, which she never brought, and another server came through for us.
