Came here on Easter for brunch and I've never felt closer to God. Kalico Kitchen is THE perfect diner. The food hits the spot and is so yummy, the staff members are SO sweet and friendly, and the ambiance is so classic and comfortable it just makes you wanna sit down and sip another cup of coffee forever. I bet there is a Kalico Kitchen in heaven. I got the eggs Benedict and my boyfriend got an omelette with a side of the cinnamon roll french toast with strawberry syrup. DELICIOUS. Once again we had excellent service, this time from Kaleena. She was super friendly, and kept up on liquid refreshing. The food was good with the meat omelette being the star of the show. Unfortunately I did not enjoy this restaurant. My vanilla latte was terrible, I asked for regular coffee and that wasn't good either. Some of our meals were decent. We traveled all day the day before so it was disappointing to finally have a hot meal and coffee and not enjoy it. 3 stars because it ok if your nearby and need breakfast. I wouldn't return but my French toast was good. Anything with eggs is what we didn't enjoy. The cheese on my eggs was not good at all. My husband eats anything and he didn't really like his food. Breakfast date with my daughter and granddaughter today. We met up with her friend and her kids. It was a Saturday morning and super busy. We only had a short wait and were accommodated with 2 high chairs. Friendly service and quick turn around from the kitchen. I opted for the country Benedict. It was poached egg and sausage on top of biscuits with country gravy. I'm not a fan of hash browns so I had the breakfast potatoes and I loved them. Like small squares of French fries. You can top them with gravy, onions or peppers if you want. I did not. Prices are reasonable. It is a very popular place so be prepared to have a wait. Stopped in here for the first time. It was absolutely packed. The wait staff bussed us a table in about ten seconds. We took ten minutes to figure out our order. I'm not kidding in less than ten minutes our orders came out (2) of us. I had the three egg bacon avocado and cheese omelet. It was outstanding. The vibe was exactly what you would expect to find at your favorite diner. The waitress was very nice and helpful in assisting me with my keto diet options. I'm so thankful. But for the outstanding service, this place is completely overrated. My boyfriend described as "about a half a step above Denny's." I agree. I ordered the scramble with Swiss cheese, mushrooms, spinach, and tomatoes, with fruit and toast. The fruit and toast were the stars, which should not have been the case. The scramble was an omelette, not a scramble, and it was smothered with PROCESSED WHITE AMERICAN "cheese," which really irked me. My boyfriend ordered the country Benedict with hashbrowns. The gravy was not made in house, the biscuit was sweet, which didn't work, and the hashbrowns were disgustingly greasy. If you need your pipes lubed up, be sure to order those hashbrowns. The setting was fine--housed in what appeared to be a former Shari's. There was plenty of seating, the booth was comfortable, and the place was clean. 3.5 stars rounded down to 3 due to false advertising. read more

Lots going on in the restaurant and it definitely had an old fashioned/classic style... even the menu. The waitress was super kind and attentive. There is a vast number of food and drink options and everything seemed reasonably priced. Got an omelette which was more oily (reused oil?) than I'd like, but was seasoned well, savory, and very filling. Love the buttered sourdough bread. Nothing was surprisingly good or bad. Look, I went to Kalico when they first opened over on Division. Utterly perfect in all areas, perpetually. The move to Monroe was a needed and welcome change. Less crowded, more tables. Again, always happy. However, today we had a large group. 12 people with family in town. Accommodated us easily as usual. As usual, GREAT service via Kristin. What was not ok was my basic breakfast. Wildly undercooked hashbrowns. Not just not brown and crunchy, but the opposite. Closer to raw than cooked. Three eggs over easy turned out to be one egg over easy, the other two overcooked. 4 sausage links that looked to be under the warmer for hours and hours. Just low quality food today. Now this is NOT a reason to abandon my live for Kalico or dissuade you from visiting. Literally hundreds of visits and like two disappointing experiences. It's just that today seemed egregious. Sadly for staff, I'm not one to complain in person unless it's inedible. But this was just above edible. I'm CERTAIN that any complaint by me would have been instantly and satisfactorily corrected. Whipped butter on perfectly crisp waffles and fluffy pancakes and multiple syrup options including homemade strawberry and raspberry syrup. The place is busy but usually can seat within a few minutes. Service is prompt and friendly and coffee is immediate. I especially loved the fresh squeezed orange juice. Been exploring different breakfast spots around town this week and found ourselves at Kalico Kitchen. It's an old Sheri's building and for the most part the atmosphere is what you'd expect. It was comfortable and appealing, but nothing overly special. We were sat right away and everyone who helped us were incredibly nice. Hands down the service is a 5. Our order came out quick, correct, and with a smile. When I checked in on Yelp I got a 10% discount which was a nice fun surprise! The food itself wasn't spectacular, but it hit the spot. My husband got the chicken fried steak and eggs with hashbrowns, toast, and a side of sausage links. He said the chicken fried steak was his least favorite of all the ones he had this week, but it still wasn't the worst he'd ever had. The same goes for the sausage links. The coffee was his favorite though :) I got a veggie breakfast burrito with hashbrowns inside, egg whites, and bacon added and I was happy with it. I did think it was a little bland, but with the sour cream and salsa it was just right. It was a nice visit and the service was so great that we would go again to try some other items. read more

The Family has eaten there several times. This visit was not up to par. First of all we were seated by the bar, two of us are kinda large people, we also had a4 year old with us. The fourth person is the mother of the child. Our service was poor, to get a refill was almost impossible The passway for the busboys is right there and with us not being "smaller" it was tight. The four year old had difficulty with the chair, and couldn't get up on her knees. I have difficulty with claustrophobia so it was not a comfortable brunch for me. The price online said burrito is $7 something but when I got there the price was $16. The size was not comparable to the price. The taste wasn't bad the butter they used made the food less dry, didn't need salsa or cream. read more

I was surprised by their new location, as an old Gonzaga alum I wanted to take my bf to the original location on division, but looks like they recently relocated and upgraded to what looks like an previous Shari's restaurant haha. They have large framed images of the old signature room in their entryway as an homage. Too bad about the old digs but honestly, it looks great and sounds like they're doing really well! Service was cheery and warm and the food was good. There were lots of families there that day but we were seated immediately - there's lots of space. The menu is HUGE now and there are tons of options. They also serve different coffee drinks and even have a fresh squeeze orange juice machine. Give it a visit if you're in the area! read more
