I stumbled in off the street on a Saturday, visiting from out of town and looking for a place to hunker down, do some work, and enjoy a real cup of coffee. Indaba didn't just check the boxes, it made me wonder why every coffee shop doesn't operate this way. Walk in and the space stops you. Exposed brick, warm wood, art on every wall, and a ceiling that opens up the whole room. The seating runs from cozy couches to high tops to proper tables. no bad seat in the house. Outlets everywhere. A conference room available to rent. Whoever designed this place actually thought about the people using it. The staff made us feel welcome without trying too hard. That's a skill. We ordered hot and iced mochas and both were dialed in. My wife went bacon avocado toast, creamy avocado against crispy bacon, exactly right. I had the sunbutter banana toast and almost ordered a second one. We grabbed an apple fritter to go. It didn't survive the drive. The background music hits just right, easy listening layered under the natural buzz of a full, happy room. Prices are exactly what you'd expect to pay for coffee done well. A cute little shop in downtown Spokane! This place had a good crowd on Saturday morning but the place has quite a fair amount of seating and a variety and dare I say a good coworking space in the back? Despite the crowd the line moved fairly quickly. Some of the stand outs were bagel sandwich and the avocado toast. The bagel was filling! They did this interesting thing in which they chopped up the bacon. It was good but perhaps a tad too salty. The avocado toast was also a hit and that's big considering how trendy it is now. Was walking the downtown area and in need of coffee. I remember this coffee place being great last time at the other location so I went again. Decided to try the butterscotch latte with oat milk, and lemon vanilla latte with soy milk. I liked how they don't charge for alternative milks. The flavors were very faint, they were a perfect sweetness but I didn't taste lemon or butterscotch at all. I also got a breakfast sandwich, which I think the price was excessive. It was about $12 for a bagel with a little cheese, an egg, spicy mayo, and arugula. It was good but not worth the amount for what's in it. After buying the things, the girl taking my order was super rude. Didn't say anything, even after I said thank you she just said "yup". Inside was nice and super cool to see lots of seating. I was in Spokane for a few days and stopped into indaba four times. Hands down my favorite coffee spot in downtown Spokane. And -- even better -- they've got unquestionably THE BEST avocado toast I've ever had. The best avocado toast my boyfriend ever had and the best avocado toast eaten by the lady at the table next to ours who also kept returning just to eat it. I'm addition to mashed avocados, the toast features tasty sprouts and pickled onions which combine to make a fresh, savory, spicy, delicious treat. By comparison, the veggie burrito was just okay -- but that doesn't even matter because you can always get the spicy avocado toast. Service was great. Ambience in the rear seating section was also perfect for working on a laptop - so it feels like one area is more social and the other is more studious. read more

This coffee shop is super cute with plenty of seating from barstools at the coffee bar, to communal tables, to smaller tables. So, whether you're looking to work alone or in a group, Indaba is good option for you. There are also some toasts and small bites for those who are hungry. I had a spicy iced chai. It was a bit too spicy for my tastes, but that's on me. I should have asked about how spicy it was before ordering it. Everyone working here couldn't have been nicer. I enjoyed my matcha a lot and their specialty drinks looked super fun They have day old pastries for 40% off which is nice. Plenty of seating for working or just chatting. The massive windows are awesome for natural light. Free wifi that's pretty fast and lots of places to charge devices. Street parking can be hard to find but not the worst, there are plenty of paid lots around. Nothing crazy spectacular, but nice folks and pretty good food and drink.
