#1 coffee in Spokane FOR SURE. I mean that so seriously. In the past two years I have tried several well recommended spokane cafes that were all great, tasty, and slightly more expensive than I would like. Hatch beaker + burr transcends all of these. I never expected that I would find one of the best lattes I've ever tasted in Spokane of all places after being a Portland/Seattle coffee elitist. The seasonal dulce de leche iced latte was so strong in the best way and brought me back to life with how flavorful it was. Seven dollars even and worth every penny. You can see in the attached photos that I really tried to get every drop of the drink. It was so good that I got another latte to go (cardamom), also so so good. Everything else: cute space with lots of plants and two tables (but other seating available in the commons), barista who is clearly very knowledgeable about every part of the coffee and actually likes making the drinks. Really nice service and you get updated on your drink even when it's busy which is nice, I've never had that in other cafes. I really can't reiterate how amazing this coffee was. Great aesthetic inside the Saranac Commons. I was the first one at 7am on a Monday morning. The staccato was not what I was expecting. Floral and citrus based flavor, kind of sour. Hatch beaker + burr is a very pretty cafe inside Saranac Commons. i was shocked when I discovered this place because it's so hidden, like I can just walk past it without realizing. So, I arrived at 7:30am, not a busy time, got a Matcha blossom - their seasonal drink. They accommodated my request to lowered the sugar level, so the floral notes was very easy to notice. Love that. I experienced that nicest service from an employee early this morning and the drink was even better!! I had the Match Blossom and it was delicious. It was just what I needed!! When I was finished with it, I was really tempted to get another one before I headed for my long drive back home. I am still wishing I had gotten a second late into the evening. I was in the area and walked over, around 1 pm on Saturday. It wasn't busy at all, and it was inside a building that shared with other businesses which was cool. I wanted to get a latte with maybe a seasonal flavor. Was disappointed with their flavor selections. I asked if they have holidays flavors and they said no. They had pumpkin spice only. Love the open, indoor, multi business concept of Saranac Commons! It is very ascetic. I have been to Hatch a few times finding myself always photographing my drink. High quality, delicious ingredients. The baristas/servers are very friendly and knowledgeable. There are nice rest rooms and a connecting opening to access Merlins next door. Go check em out! Beautiful little coffee shop tucked in the corner of a food court with happy plants and comfortable seating. The barista was friendly enough but I could tell he much preferred his regulars. In fact maybe that's what happened to my coffee? I was a underwhelmed by vanilla latte. I chose a 12 oz with whole milk. Typically a 12 oz should be a good balance of milk and expresso. My latte was unbalanced and sadly it tasted only of warm milk with a hint of vanilla and no coffee. Appearance wise it was beautiful and the swirly heart foam design was photo worthy but the coffee fell flat. I am An out of towner that loves local coffee over chain. On a positive note, if you like Dutch Bros you will love this coffee. It's more milk and sweetener forward, the coffee flavor is so light it almost disappears. read more

I was staying at a nearby hotel and had some time to kill, so thought I'd stop by with my laptop to catch up on emails on a Saturday morning. This is a nice place -- it shares a seating area with a bakery and a bar (which was closed in the morning). Coffee quality seemed high. There is tons of seating, including some with a power strip. Big windows allow natural light. It has a lot of character. Exactly what you might hope for in a coffee shop. Taking one star off because while I sat there for an hour or so, I had the chance to observe the barista interactions with patrons, and thought they acted a bit too-cool-for-school. Finding coffee new coffee shops to try on the weekends is one of my favorite activities. I have been wanting to stop by Hatch for weeks now, and finally drove over to try this past weekend. Two words - WORTH IT. The shop is located inside Sarnac Commons and is beautifully decorated with metal and wood accents. I was taken care of my a barista who really took his time with my americano, leaving a perfect amount of foam on top and adding just enough milk to cut a bit of the bitterness of the espresso. My drink was phenomenal - smooth and creamy (probably could have even gone without the splash of cream, which would have been a first for me!). My friend got their drip which is made from a brand called "Cat and Cloud" and it was such a balanced roast with a hint of chocolate. Fully recommend everyone stop by - Hatch might be my new favorite coffee shop in town! First time at Hatch and definitely not the last. Per usual when going to a new coffee shop I ordered a drip with a splash of oat milk to experience the full flavor and taste of the roast the shop uses. Hatch partners with Cat and Cloud based out of Santa Cruz, CA and it's a roast that did not disappoint. The drip was full bodied and smooth with a bit of a cocoa finish. I went towards the end of the day as well and was so happy to find that their drip was still fresh and delicious. My friend got an americano which was also done very well with a good amount of foam to the espresso and also a smooth, velvety texture. Hatch also sells Grain Shed pastries so extra brownie points there. The food hall itself, which houses Hatch, is such a fun space to study, hangout or watch a game.
