I am a recovering coffee snob. Over the years I have visited many coffee bars and have guzzled the sweet elixir all over the globe. There are two types of coffeehouse... the standard Starbucks corporate junket and the sole proprietor, local joint. Although this place has several locations, they still have the individual vibe and that's what I'm looking for. The culture has certainly changed over the years and it's often that you come into this places and feel somewhat unwelcome because they don't "know" you... but this place has a line most of the time because the order taker/cashier doesn't just take your order, they answer all the questions and have the direct contact -- and I always ask about things to see if there is something special. I really enjoyed a coffee sample just to try their espresso pulls. I had the standard and then a single origin pull and I actually enjoyed the standard more. Their standard pull hints notes of cocoa and walnut with a bit of cherry vibes in there... but subtle. Strong but not over powering.. I also went with an egg nog cortado because I wanted to see if they could nail that creaminess that you get with a decent nog and again, perfect. This surprised me for a downtown location... this is a big college town... so maybe I shouldn't be as pleasantly surprised as I am. Must stop. read more

I love stopping here for my beans and for treating myself to yummy coffee. The staff is always super friendly and love to make you feel at home. If you need recommendations on beans they got your back. I finally tried the downtown location and it was bright and cheery. My cold brew was on point and I even got a lovely cookie. They support the best local bakeries; including Boots and Made With Love. Fresh roasted coffee is truly the best. I also love the support and respect they give the farmers. Ok I really want to ding a star here bc they didn't have any sugar free other than vanilla and they were out of muffins at 9 am and I couldn't find a food menu to grab or a we code to save my life. BUT the scone was decent not great and the coffee with an extra shot was pretty good. Came on w a worries gonna have a bad after taste but totally was all bite up front and no bad after taste. Was pleasantly surprised and the staff was super friendly. I was told I need to go back for the food menu so I'm hoping to do that and keep the last star bc I was happy w the coffee flavor. read more

This is the Indaba I go to most in Spokane! It has a fair amount of indoor space but limited outdoor seating. Hours are AMAZING. open till like 8 or 9 pm. Coffee is really yummy, and they have lots of vegan drink, dessert, and food options. Staff is incredibly helpful, and it's always clean inside. Music is always a vibe. Love this place. read more

Indaba has a good hold on the coffee culture of the east side of Washington State. Great vibe, marketing, and coffee. The location on Gage in Kennewick opened at 7am on a Friday. Upon entering they were kind, wlecoming, and knowledgable about coffee. When I ordered by usual Traditional Cappuccino they didn't ask what size or if I wanted it 'wet' or 'dry'. The menu reflects this knowledge with a Traditional Cap, Traditional Macchiato, and a Cordato. Menus can speak volumes about the coffee knowledge of any coffee shop. The barista and bar staff were kind, conversational and technically very sound (no quick or dry shots or scalded milk). I was also amazed at their artisan avacado toast with bacon. It was a delight to the eyes as well as palate. Go to Indaba as a resident 'East Sider' or a visitor. You won't be dissapointed. read more

I was only in Spokane for 3 days, but I managed to visit Indaba Coffee six times. Yes, it's just that good. Living in NYC, I thought I knew good coffee, but after having Indaba, I was clearly very wrong. Their spicy avocado toast is amazing & you can't go wrong with any of their drinks (I've fallen in love with their house butterscotch latte though despite not being a latte kind of drinker - it's the perfect amount of sweetness). Beautiful location, I was excited to come here - I love checking out the roasters in any city I visit. However, their business practices are not transparent and unfortunately I found the coffee to be bland and wildly overpriced. I noticed there was no price listed on any of the drinks, which raises some immediate red flags, but I went along with it. I ordered an espresso, which if I got the normal one would be $4. A bit on the high end but not egregious. The barista asked if I wanted the blend or a single origin, and said they have Ethiopia or Kenya. Normally a single origin will have a price increase of .50 to $1 most places, so I was damn surprised that going for a Kenya was a whole $3.50 extra! $7.50 for one shot of espresso, almost double a regular shot, Ive never seen that anywhere, and there was no heads up from the barista. I hope the 7.50 is going to either a solid livable wage for baristas or to properly support the farmers, but I can't find anything on their website indicating either. If so, please upsell that a bit. I was expecting the shot to at least taste damn good at that price, Kenyan beans are generally some of my favorite. Instead what I got was a very watery and bland shot, with warm sparkling water to chase it down. Ultimately this was one of my most disappointing coffee experiences I've had. read more

This location has awesome hours and they currently do 50% off toast form 4-6 pm daily. Indaba should be no stranger to Spokane locals but to those reading this, they have amazing coffee and also have a good selection of signature drinks if you want something a little fancier and sweeter. The "Kendall Yards latte" which includes cocoa powder, cinnamon, and cayenne is one I often recommend. I personally order their London fog when I'm here (Smith tea lord bergamot, vanilla syrup, and milk) but it can be hit or miss depending on who makes it. They also do drinks on request. Pictured is my friend's weird order of military latte (matcha and cocoa powder in a latte). There seems to be some buzz around this drink and if you do want to try it, I would recommend adding some vanilla syrup as it's pretty bitter without a sweetener as you would predict. They have lots of locations and always have a good atmosphere. Whether you're studying or chilling, this is my personal favorite coffee spot to check out with good coffee. read more

Fabulous interior. Great coffee. Parking is the only downside (but not enough to subtract a star). The location is smack downtown on the north side of the street (Riverside). If you get lucky and find parking on the street, use the parking app to pay. If not, there is a parking lot (pay) across the street. If you work downtown, you're in for a treat at this location. Lucky you! The interior is open with lots of natural light. Their honor bar (self-pay and self-service) is to the right as you enter. If you like black coffee, it's a deal. If you want to treat yourself, I recommend the ginger and cardamom latte (great flavor). I believe that Indaba still has two other locations (at least), each with its own unique vibe. This location, however, is definitely worth the parking effort. read more

Very fashionable. Definitely aiming at the upwardly mobile crowd who enjoy a loft-like experience. It has been a number of years since restaurants started using natural brick and vaulted ceilings, some with exposed ductwork. This architecturally significant space is a perfect spot for a meeting. Oh--and the coffee is spectacular. I ordered a soy milk latte and it was smooooooth and full of flavor. They have an honor bar where you can get a regular coffee or tea and you pay on your honor. A great idea. There is street parking right outside with pay by phone simplicity. If you are not yet a fan of Indaba Coffee, you probably haven't been there yet. Go--enjoy! read more

I was in town for a 4-day conference and each day I frequented this fantastic coffee shop, mostly because of their signature lemon vanilla latte, but also because the staff is so incredibly friendly. On the last day I tried their avocado bacon toast...OMG, equally fantastic! Casual seating in the front. When I'm in Spokane there are a few places that I must go. This is one of them. I found Indaba Coffee at their Broadway location - before they were downtown. I was happy when they opened their first downtown location, as I could generally walk from my hotel. This location is bigger, better and closer! Oh, but the star of their show is the coffee. It's fantastic. Well pulled, smooth shots of excellently roasted beans. Almost more importantly it's consistent. No one wants a surprise bad cup in the morning, and the crew at Indaba delivers every time. Coffee is a team sport, and Indaba's team is world class. We happen to pass this place out of Spokane. It's a small clean coffee shop with coffee and also toast sandwiches. When you walk in the mask is definitely required. It's street parking. Extremely clean inside. They have delicious toast with avocados or kimchee in hummus along with other options. We got a latte and then we asked him to make a something special and he made us a cold Cardimum drink with some Cayenne pepper which is amazing! Great service, friendly and delicious food and coffee. We were staying at the nearby Historic Davenport Hotel and wanted to have a local coffee experience. Very happy we did! I had a cappuccino and my husband had a latte, both nicely prepared. We had the avocado toast with an egg. It is rare to see a coffee shop prepare an egg in a skillet, so that was a nice surprise. Use to be my go to coffee shop but not sure what happened. They seem to have a new staff thats a bit snobbish and they went the new age way of having to use the barcode system/smart phone to look at a generic menu. They used to have a simple and easy to read menu at the counter where they had what drinks and pour over choices (describing flavor notes) were available. The multi hair colored barista caught an attitude when i told her that the barcode menu doesn't even have pour overs on the menu and when she says "well we only have 2-3 available" So asked what they were and what were their flavor notes. She got more perturbed at me and I said thats why the menu sign is a better system to convey what you have available. I get that its 2022 but why make an easy method so hard. I will go elsewhere for my coffee fix. read more

Just looked at my emailed receipt and saw that I was charged for a flavor that I did not order. As well as when I returned the latte for an Americano which is want I actually ordered and which is cheaper, there was no offer to refund the price difference. Editing my review from 3 stars to 1 one star. Ordered an americano and got a latte. The person in front of me ordered to go and got his in a mug to dine in. The avocado toast was okay. Nice presentation but the plate was too small and made it hard to cut. Very put off by the tip options being 20, 23 or 26%. I'm Seattle based and dine out all the time with lots of business travel and this is steep. Just raise your prices and pay your workers a livable wage, dont put customers on the hook for 20-26% tip when there is no table service to justify it. read more

Official favorite coffee spot in Spokane. It deserves the hype. From the unique selections of coffee....all absolutely delicious with just enough flavor...not to heavy, as well as delicious snacks that you can tell are made with care and pride from the staff. Additionally, the location is wonderful. From beautiful indoor plants, local artwork, exposed brick walls, it offers a bit of it all. Highly recommend a visit. My two favorite coffees here are the "Orange Maple", as well as the "Lemon Vanilla", but I have no doubt the you can order just about everything and be satisfied. Secondly, I ordered avocado toast. It was phenomenal. Delicious light flavor, and a wonderful way to start the day. The man who made it personally delivered it and you could tell that he took pride in his work and presentation. We love our visit to Indaba coffee while visiting Spokane. The inside of this location is so airy and open. I especially love the honor bar but he door to get your drip coffee to go in a hurry. Such a cool concept! My lemon vanilla latte was delicious and the toast was unique and really tasty as well. We loved the coffee so much we got some beans to take home.
