Eggs Benedict and Cinnamon Roll French Toast

Came here on Easter for brunch and I've never felt closer to God. Kalico Kitchen is THE perfect diner. The food hits the spot and is so yummy, the staff members are SO sweet and friendly, and the ambiance is so classic and comfortable it just makes you wanna sit down and sip another cup of coffee forever. I bet there is a Kalico Kitchen in heaven. I got the eggs Benedict and my boyfriend got an omelette with a side of the cinnamon roll french toast with strawberry syrup. DELICIOUS. It was so good I couldn't stop eating, which I may have regretted a bit later, but boy was it worth it. Spokane is lucky to have a gem like Kalico Kitchen. Please stay open forever!!

2 Bacon or Sausage, 1 Egg* 1/2 Hash Browns & Toast

CFC - 0/10, would NOT recommend. The gravy tastes like it's from a can or old milk. And the chicken is like a food patty from nasty school lunch. Eggs - fine Hash brown - asked for extra crispy but not extra oil AND they were so separated... Orange juice - decent, fresh basket has better. Let the server know I didn't like my CFC and she just asked me why... didn't offer a new item or to take it off the menu despite my 1 single bite. Won't be coming back. I think ppl like this place because it's cheap? But I don't see the appeal.

Breakfast date with my daughter and granddaughter today. We met up with her friend and her kids. It was a Saturday morning and super busy. We only had a short wait and were accommodated with 2 high chairs. Friendly service and quick turn around from the kitchen. I opted for the country Benedict. It was poached egg and sausage on top of biscuits with country gravy. I'm not a fan of hash browns so I had the breakfast potatoes and I loved them. Like small squares of French fries. You can top them with gravy, onions or peppers if you want. I did not. Prices are reasonable. It is a very popular place so be prepared to have a wait. But it's worth it for home style comfort food.

I'm not very familiar with American diners, but was glad to try this place out. Came Sunday around brunch time and this place was PACKED. Lots going on in the restaurant and it definitely had an old fashioned/classic style... even the menu. The waitress was super kind and attentive. There is a vast number of food and drink options and everything seemed reasonably priced. Got an omelette which was more oily (reused oil?) than I'd like, but was seasoned well, savory, and very filling. Love the buttered sourdough bread. Nothing was surprisingly good or bad. Pretty average food overall

    Definitely knows their clientele

The place was good and for the price is an excellent value. Coffee + plate of food food is probably under $15 per person. The wait wasn't so bad. They definitely move people through. The hash browns were better than expected: crispy, tender, not as greasy as other viewers complained. Service was great. Coffee and water constantly refilled, even after paying. As busy as it is, seems like the entire staff really takes time with each customer.

For two people to have breakfast at cost $70 I find that absolutely outrageous. I will not be going here again.

It's getting harder and harder to find this sort of thing, so this was like a breath of fresh air on our trip to Spokane! Service was prompt and friendly, and the food came out in pretty much no time at all. We got the fried green tomatoes appetizer (yummy) and everyone was happy with what they ordered. Everything seemed made with real ingredients and not prepackaged or frozen stuff. The Ruben used real corned beef, and the gravy on the pot roast sandwich was amazing. Plus Frank's is in an old-time train car so the ambiance is pretty neat. There's a history to each of the train cars in the location and photos are posted of when it was in service. Overall good food and a neat place to eat. Five stars.

What sealed the deal for a 5 star review was not only the food, but the efficiency of the operation and the teamwork and respectful culture of the staff. They operated extremely well in the tightest of work spaces. Pros: - you can try one of each Benedict!! I got one caprese and one bacon - highly recommend. - the fried green tomatoes are amazing! Either plain or in the caprese Benedict , try them! - the fried deviled eggs are one of the best I've ever had! - the pancakes have the slightest crisp to the outer edges making them one of the best I've tried - your soft drink will always be full , at least if you're sitting at the bar - large portions - stuff yourself silly or take the rest to go! - Leslie, our server had a badge that said she's been there for 24 years! She was the perfect server for the front of the house - friendly, efficient, and didn't miss a beat. The best!

However, Luna does offer a lot of things for this price. You have a pleasant neighborhood restaurant vibe, with friendly attentive service and excellent, healthy food sourced from good places. As with anything in Spokane, you will see folks in very casual attire, but this is also a place where you can dress up. When we went, there were several tables of women friends (all ages), many family groups (without young kids or with well-behaved kids), and older couples. I was in the mood for salmon and they did a great version. It should be though for just under $50. It was served with black rice (good) and roasted carrots (good) and a carrot puree (really good but not enough on the plate). My dining companion got the scallops, and they were even more expensive than the salmon. $48 for TWO scallops. Ok, they are large, and well-cooked, and came with a lovely vegetable mix and couscous, but that's a lot of $ for Spokane. We are from CA and that's even a shocker for us. Dessert: they had recently added a banana pudding, which was good. It replaced a chocolate dessert--and that was a bad move because there is no intense chocolate on the menu. We also tried the coconut cake with lemon curd. There was not enough curd; it was barely a tang. The cake itself was a little dry. It is served with house-made ice cream, which balances the dryness but the cake should be good on its own. Apparently, this is their most popular dessert. I am a chocolate-first person. I like coconut. I like good vanilla. I really like lemon curd and a sweet-sour pairing. For me, this item felll short.

We told the server it tasted burnt & old so she offered to make a fresh pot. It was just as bad, when she asked we said it was still really yucky and she said that a lot of people don't care for it. I ordered the tamale waffle. The beef was great, eggs were a bit overcooked but no biggie, the waffle was really hard and dry. It needs some sort of crema sauce or something. It wasn't horrible by any stretch but it wasn't great either. My mom got the veggie breakfast burrito and she liked the veggies though it was bland, felt like it could have had more sour cream & cheese. It was massive and came with a side. The added 16% service fee is some real BS. It says on the receipt that it's split between the server & the kitchen staff. Call me old fashioned but I thought it was on the restaurant to pay their staff a living wage. At $18 a breakfast plate & $4 for drip coffee you should be able to pay your staff. And then we're supposed to tip on top of that? Nope.

We always make it a point to get the beignets from Francaise when we come to Spokane, so on this trip we decided to stop in for dinner. Francaise has a warm inviting "dining room" vibe that gives comfort to its guest. The exposed brick, warm lighting and plants really set the tone for intentional conversation and intimate dinners. While we did come on a night that seemed like they were short staff, our servers were still checking in and very accommodating with how busy it was. We ordered the Pain Maison, Black Truffle French Fries, Risotto à la Forestière, Steak Frites*and Grand Marnier Croissant Bread Pudding. Pain Maison - 7/10 I think the bread was good, I do wish it had been a bit warmer and that there would have been a flavor to the butter. Black Truffle French Fries - 10/10 These were executed so well. The fries on their own carried a lot of flavor, and the truffle took it to another level. We could have easily eaten another basket. Risotto à la Forestière - 8/10 I stole a few bites off of my wife's plate. There were portions of the duck that were a bit dry, but overall it was very tasty. The risotto carried a lot of flavor and the white wine sauce finished everything nicely. Steak Frites - 7/10 I did end up switching my fries to the Robuchon potatoes because they sounded so good and they were. As far as the steak itself, it was cooked to perfection, but I did not enjoy the blue cheese-cognac butter like I thought I would have. There was a charred sweetness to it that I was not expecting (completely on me) and it made me wish I had just ordered the steak itself. Grand Marnier Croissant Bread Pudding - 9/10 The ice cream completely took this dessert to the stars! The Bread pudding in itself had a hard outer layer with a soft and flavorful inner layer, and the combination with the salted caramel ice cream was delicious.  I think that Francaise would be a great place to do Hors D'oeuvres along with drinks and dessert along with friends or for a date- I am curious to try their short rib and think I will make it a point to do so when we come back.

I am talking no juice dry. The way the patties were made made it difficult to even eat. They were so roundish that I could barely keep them together in the bun. To make the burger even dryer, there was no sauce of any kind on/in the bun and the meat had not been seasoned at all during cooking, so it was dry and bland. Too make matters worse I had to ask for a side of mayo and they charged me 75 cents - are you kidding me? I was hesitant to ask for some mustard and ketchup, which should have already been at or brought to the table to begin with. The waitress was pleasant, but I had to ask for everything. I would have returned the burger, but I was having lunch with a friend and did not want to ruin the encounter. I got the batter fries, which were crispy and seasoned well, but with the dry burger the fries didn't help. At that moment I wish I had ordered the side salad instead, as my friend's looked mouthwatering and my mouth needed watering; LOL. Anyway, the burger and fries, with water came to almost $25, with tip. I had been there once before, but I couldn't remember what I had; it was that memorable. I hate McDonald's and have not been there in about a decade, but I would have gladly eaten a double quarter pounder, with cheese, and some fries over this overpriced cotton mouth special.
