Husband and I had a date night last night. It was overall a good night. The waiter recommended the halibut and it didn't disappoint. The fillet was HUGE and flaky and so yummy. My husbands Zambuton was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Most of the entrees don't come with anything so you have to get a side separately. We did the 3 sides for $33... broccolini (not my favorite), Mac and cheese (sooooo good) and a loaded baked potato they dressed table side. Big portions. Awesome service with classic steakhouse vibes! We splurged on the Tomahawk and absolutely loved it. Cooked to perfection with the perfect balance of seasoning, but not too much to overwhelm the incredible meaty deliciousness of this cut. The Panna Cotta dessert was outrageously good as well. Also, I love spicy food and serrano chilis but ordering one on the side for an extra dollar, along with mushrooms, almost killed me. I like spicy but this felt like a personal attack. Even with lots going on in the area, we were able to get a table without a reservation. The decor is warm and inviting and the booth seats were comfortable. Mark was our server and did a great job. He explained the menu and specials and welcomed us as it was our first time here. Unfortunately the food and beverages were a bit disappointing. My Jameson's Ginger Smash was refreshing but the Vanilla Old fashion was smaller and a bit too sweet. The Scallops Rockefeller were tasty but $32 for only 2 is a bit pricey. They came on shells with spinach, fresh garlic, and smoked pork belly. It was a good flavor combination. The house soup, smoked cheese and broccoli, was way too thick. We thought we were eating bowls of gravy. I loved the Strawberry Feta Spinach Salad topped with candied walnuts. Came in from out of town and decided on here for Valentine's Day dinner, reservations made well in advance. Hubby wanted a steakhouse and this was what he decided on and it sounded promising. We were nicely dressed, brought a bottle of our favorite wine so things were looking decent. First thing that happens is the host seats in the bar at what he called "one of their coveted bar booths". You're joking right? We're dressed up, we're obviously there for Valentine's Day as it literally was Valentine's Day and he seats us in a nosy, sport bar-like area surrounded by people who obviously are there to watch sports and drink and be loud. Dude. Read the room here. Obviously we asked to be moved to the actual restaurant area which seemed to surprise him but he managed. Our waiter was great though, very attentive, made some great meal suggestions and overall the food was good. The dining room struck me as sort of a cross between an Outback Steakhouse and a red lobster so I don't know that we'd do this again for a nice dinner but for a decent steak you could do worse I suppose. read more

I'm surprised that this place has an average rating of just 3.6. maybe I just ordered the right stuff. We were a group of 15 but my review is specific to me. Drinks - So I'm on a bit of a dry Q1 so been experimenting with what I drink while all my colleagues drink alcohol. I got a soda, with crushed mint, serrano peppers, lime and a tajin rim. Glad they could accommodate it and it was great. Appetizers. Got the beaf tomato dish. Haven't had it before but loved every bit of it. If I'm being a bit picky, I'd say they could have presented it better and not made it a challenge to get individual servings Entre - ribeye, Pittsburgh style with back blue cheese brulle. Celebrated my birthday early with dinner at Spencer's. Everything was delicious! We ordered the smoked steelhead and halibut cakes, ribeye with mushroom & cognac sauce, smoked gouda mac & cheese, and broccolini with romesco sauce. Bread pudding for dessert (not pictured), of course. For drinks my husband had an old fashioned and said it was one of the best in town. They have a surprisingly sizable mocktail menu so I tried one made with Wilderton Lustre + Bittersweet Appertivo and it was so good! There are a few parking spots conveniently located right in front (DoubleTree Hotel parking), otherwise you can park in the garage and they'll validate it. We stayed in Spokane overnight since my flight was very early in the morning. After our experience at Hilton's Tapatio Resort restaurant in Phoenix, which was beyond anything we've ever had and was amazing, we decided to try Spencer's at the Doubletree since we were also staying there. It was a mistake. My 14oz ribeye's char had to be scraped from the steak because the burn was so bitter. The temp was great, which made it such a shame. The halibut was not flavorful and needed to be doctored with fresh lemon and salt since it was so thick and there was a drizzle of sauce. There was a bed of raw spinach under the fish that remained uncooked through the two hours we were here. The Gouda Mac and cheese was a salt bomb one bite and bland in another. The bread crumbs on top were bordering on burnt and were somewhat difficult to chew through. The collard greens were decent for PNW (but definitely needs improvement having grown up in the South). Spencer's gives the impression of trying too hard. It's giving champagne prices for Outback food. Unfortunately, you may be better off going to Outback. I would encourage the property ownership to look at how Hilton's Tapatio Resort trains their chefs and then implement that training here. read more

Literally just not good. I heard from a local it was not great especially for the price and I wish I listened. But this city is not safe and I couldn't risk getting attacked by crazy drug addicts. But anyway. I ordered Mac and cheese it was okay probably the best dish. I also ordered the apple pie. It was dry... and it came with some Carmel bourbon sauce. It was heavy on bourbon made it gross. I also ate it with the ice cream which saved the dryness a bit. But overall just not good and it was not warm. The fish n chips was just one big piece of fish. That lacked flavor literally cardboard tastes better. The sauce was not tarter but watery ranch.???? Of it wasn't ranch then idk what that was... the fries were also sub par. As I was reading the menu the host approached me with such a happy and welcoming attitude and invited me to come in and read the menu so I can make my selection. As much as I enjoyed the food, I really enjoyed his attention and care towards me. His name was Johny and he was very kind. All the staff that I could overhear were super kind to their guests. I ordered the Chicken Chop. Grilled chicken with broccolini and grilled peaches. Super delicious and great presentation even in the to-go box. I also had terlato Italian pino Grigio, delicious. Not just steaks and chops served here! I have stayed at this Doubletree hotel numerous times in the past and have enjoyed the Happy Hour eats at Spencer's inside the hotel. Today I was looking forward to some halibut because it's not a fish readily available where I come from. They have a Parmesan crusted halibut on the menu that has been there since Spenser's first opened years ago. Today they also had Grilled Halibut with a Tomato Holly sauce and seasonal veggies as the Chef's Fish Special. I chose this dish and was not disappointed. The sauce is put thru a whip creamer, I was told, and was fluffy on top of the fillet. I also had the Champaign vinaigrette asparagus with my meal. It was all so delicious and quite a treat! Along with my meal I had a drink I'ld been wanting to try for awhile called the Bees Knees. An old drink making a comeback. It was so good I looked up the recipe and will be replicating it. Prices are not inexpensive at Spencers, however well worth the meal I had. I believe in treating yourself once in awhile, we are only here for a short time. :) read more

It was probably my mistake walking in to order dinner in my field clothing. I understand this is an "upscale" place, but just wanted to make a to-go order to take up to my room after a LONG day/week and a "fancy" meal sounded like a great reward! This was a mistake. I'm not happy with the service or the food. Both lacked. I'm from Alaska. I know what GOOD halibut is. The halibut was entirely over cooked. I was so impressed with the huge potion... until I realized they literally pawned off someone else's returned order from the restaurant downstairs & nuked it for me in a to-go box. It was so tough, chewy & dry. Enough lemon juice couldn't have helped this. The equivalent of eating slightly flavored rubber. The spinach was pretty much the only good thing about this, with the dressing. But, even the dressing could not drown the DRY, overcooked halibut. I'm not sure why I paid $10+ for soggy, saturated Brussels sprouts. They threw 6 sprouts in a cup, doused them with oil, vinegar & sugar. Horrible. Literally inedible. Wtf did I pay for?! Over $50 and not a single aspect was worth it. It didn't taste good, it wasn't fresh and I'm also less than thrilled I got told to wait in a corner of the back lobby, as to not detract from their front facade... which consequently took 20* minutes longer to wait so I didn't interrupt their higher class patrons. I'll probably skip this one from now on. Unless I want to keep the bar tender busy. I'd hope that may be a better option & kind of regret not utilizing it. read more

I was starving coming from East Coast to West, eagerly awaiting 5:00 local time to get some food. This place was in the hotel and seemed well rated, confirmed by the line of people waiting to get in the doors once they opened them. Was fortunate to get a bar spot since I didn't have a reservation (I definitely recommend booking ahead). Soup was amazing, layers of flavors. Best Amaretto sour I've had. The Zabuton steak is great and stands up with Japanese and Australian cuts I've had in the same vein. The sear and seasoning nicely offset the buttery interior. The potato was definitely "Texas sized" and even though fully loaded was evenly balanced and somehow prepared in a way I didn't need to add any salt. The only way to wrap this up is by saying I am coming back tomorrow, and the reservation has already been made. read more
