My husband wanted to take me here because he remembered the marinated steaks from when he was a teen like 25 yrs ago! The place is definitely dated, and not fancy, but that's what gives it its local charm. It has an old school, neighborhood joint feel, where locals have probably been coming for years and the staff knows everyone by name! We brought our 21 month old son and he was accommodated with a high chair and kid-friendly dining options. He ate every last bite of his fried shrimp and sweet potato fries. My husband and I shared the Kickin' Oysters app which were sooo good, that I wish there were more in the order. My son enjoyed his shrimp dipped in the oyster app sauce. We then got the marinated steak dinners, and mine was surf and turf with a decent size succulent lobster tail. The steaks came with salad, corn, and a potato. The marinated steaks were delicious. Juicy and cooked just how we requested with good flavor and char too. My lobster tail was cooked perfectly. After all that, we also managed to eat dessert. The cheesecake was our choice. It was okay, not homemade, but good enough to round out a delicious steak meal! Servers were friendly, and food came out quickly! If you want a no-frills but yummy steak dinner out on the North Fork, go here!

Actually compared to most nyc restaurants the restaurant was actually spacious. Our waitress was so sweet. We did come on a Monday afternoon so it wasn't so busy. I have never had a more delicious steak - the marinated porterhouse was the best steak I've ever had ( and I had been to Peter Lugers the week before. ) it was cooked to perfection with the perfect amount of flavor. The smash burger was also delicious. I remember when I was in Vegas a guy I was talking to told me he used to live out here and I had to try cliffs. Now I know why he couldn't forget about the place.

I think everyone should have at least one happy place, I'm fortunate to have a few and the Elbow Room has always been one of those restaurants for me. Fancy? I guess in its own right it is, I feel at home eating here. To me, this place is all about amazing marinated steaks, killer stuffed clams, a burger that puts most other burgers to shame and never pass up what they have on their specials menu. Add in friendly service and you can start to understand why. AND, there are three of them (Riverhead, Laurel and my go-to in Jamesport) Perfect for family or a quiet lunch for two. Most cards, parking can be tight depending on when you go, but go...and did I mention the clams?

Shell steak special

Honest opinion time, I was very excited to finally try out the famous Cliffs but by the time I left I just felt like the entire experience was....meh If you've taken the trip, you already know what to expect. A small town no frills bar/steak house with about 10 tables in the dining area that's been doing things the same way for many many years. Sounds like it should be a hit but what I didn't expect is how truly aged the location is for example a non functional toilet and no ac/fans on a 90 degree day made things a little uncomfortable right from the start. I could easily get past the current state that the restaurant is in because what it really comes down to is the food, right? So here's my thoughts: Baked clams - as others have said you either love them or hate them. To me they tasted as if you took a can of Campbell's mushroom soup and little pieces of clam and threw it in a blender. Take the puree, fill a half shell and toss that straight into a broiler. It was certainly different. Dinner 1 - Shell steak special no marinade rare. Included a soup and potato. Steak was cooked right and there's really not much more to say about that. Opted for the new England clam chowder which was ok (smalls clams, potatoes, missing the richness I look for) Dinner 2 - Tbone special w/ their famous marinade rare and compound butter. Included potato and salad. So where to start, well the cook on the steak was more medium rare but I rolled with it. Right away I noticed the filet was tiny but the extra strip was enticing...until I cut into it and found just a big bone with no meat so that was disappointing. As for the marinade, it certainly gave the steak a nice color but overall i felt it really lacked any flavor and found myself reaching for the salt and pepper more then I'd like to admit. Compound butter is always a nice touch. Basic house salad w/ blue cheese did it's job. So overall at $50 a steak, I just felt like there could've been a little more to it. Basic potato choices were baked, fries, or mashed and after seeing the size and color of the baked potatoes at the table next to us, we both knew fries were the way the go. Had the option of upgrading to cream spinach for $5 more each but overheard another table complaining that it tasted like straight heavy cream so we decided against that. Oh and I don't usually make note of utensils but water cups showed extreme wear as they were faded and cracked, forks were light and flimsy, and knives could definitely use some sharpening.

Amazing burgers! The place is known for steaks, but I went for the marinated burger this time, perfectly cooked medium. The fries were super crisp, and the onion rings were perfectly crunchy too. Such a great combo. I was a bit thirsty afterward since the marinade is on the salty side, but still delicious. We sat at the bar, and the service was quick and friendly. Great casual stop when you're craving something hearty.

We stopped off after visiting a few of the area wineries. 2 in our party had the steak sandwich 1 had the T bone and another the filet mignon. All were outstanding and cooked perfectly. On a Wednesday evening it was nice and relaxing and not too crowded. Very casual restaurant.

Cold, snowy day. I've always heard good things about Cliff's, so we ended up here. There's a lack of parking spaces in front of the place, but the little shopping strip has several and there is also street parking available. Warm and cozy inside. Where we were sat, it wasn't drafty and the lighting was perfect. Not too bright, not too dim, and warm wood all around. Carol was our server, and she made sure everything came out well-timed. We were going to share a steak, and she made sure our salads were just right. The mussels were large and perfectly done. None of them came apart or were rubbery when extracted from the shell. Garlic bread was perfect for sopping up the sauce. Good thing there wasn't too much of the bread otherwise I would have had no choice but to overload on carbs Fried pickles and the steak were also done perfectly. The breading was nice and crisp and the pickles weren't overdone and soggy like many places we've had them at. The marinated T-bone special was just the right pinkness and the garlic butter on top made it that much better. We had 2 Westhampton Stouts apiece, that rounded everything out. We'll be back!

A cozy venue amidst winery towns, amazing seafood and pub food with large portions and great service! Their New England clam chowder is a highlight--it has minced bacon. Many entrees come with sides, they also have specials like seafood paellas. We loved everything we ordered, also happened to come on Burger Sunday and it was a hearty option that half the table got. Their variety and menu is huge and everything is so well done! Highly recommend for a pit stop in between winery stops!

As we wait, the couple after us had made reservations for 2 and their table was ready. First impressions matter to me and there is no reason for inconsistency when it comes to reservations. Finally, after a few more mins, they found us a table. Once we sat, and we ordered some water, they decided to moves us again to another table. Now im bothered but I didn't want that to ruin my night. The waitress took our order for drinks and food. The whisky sour was ok and our wait for food began. The couple next to us had their appetizers and main entrees served before we even got our appetizers. I understand it may have been busy, but everyone around was getting there food quicker, lack of attention. We finally got our entrees and the dishes were ok. My duck was cooked perfectly but my wife's dish lacked some flavor. She had to be careful because the fish had fish bones and we had thought they had taken those out. As we waited for the food I noticed that the owner was walking around and greeting the customers and finding out how the food was. I believe that every owner should follow this man's footsteps because he was very attentive to all and I feel that he turned our experience around for the better. Once we finished, he asked us about the food and what brought us there. Conversation with him was great and easy. We mentioned to him that my wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and he surprised us with a dessert and coffee. This dessert was incredible and his sweet gesture made the experience so much better. I hope to return one day and give them another chance. I would say try this restaurant and make sure you make reservations because the restaurant is always full.

This place not only passed the vibe check, it's on its own level of coolness that demanded a vibe check of me. From the glittery epoxy floors, to the hand carved wooden creatures, colorful, creative and unique ceiling murals, multiple textures, and art deco and pop art features throughout, you feel fully immersed in an artist's dream from the second you walk in. The lighting and the French music playing overhead also lend themself to the unique experience. I ordered a margarita and 2 sips in, I found myself even more relaxed and enjoying more and more of the decor details of the cafe that I continued to notice throughout. The menu offered so many options, including quite a few vegan options, but I settled on the watermelon salad (weekly special), the boats n hoes spring rolls (veggie), and the Vegan Burger. The watermelon salad was so fresh and delicious, and it complemented my (2nd!) margarita perfectly! The spring rolls were perfectly crispy and flavorful and the vegan burger was the star of the show and was absolutely perfect, especially with the added fresh avocado on top! This place was somehow made even more fantastic by the quick-witted, fun-loving, hilarious owner/host/server, Marco, who provided us with great service and even better stories (were they all true??!!!). I highly recommend entering this magical establishment as soon and as often as possible so that you can count yourself lucky enough to have experienced it.

The restaurant we originally picked had a 20 minute wait... and with two hangry toddlers, we crossed the street and saw a restaurant sign on top of a neat looking bar. It is actually next to a bar as well, so we eyeing sure it was for the kids. I stood outside and the clock struck 2pm, and a nice gentleman opened the velvet rope for us and said "come in, we were open." Not knowing if this was for the kids or not, we walked in and saw one of the most interesting interiors I have seen in awhile. It was fun and different. The manager made it fun as well as he has a great attitude and happy to help in terms of recommendations. The menu itself is big and you will need some help. The first thing was needing to get food to two little hangry ones, so we asked for noodles, which he got on immediately, getting in a pancit order. That came out first and my wife and I took a few extended moments as the menu is extensive. I ordered the chicken and waffle with bang bang shrimp and my wife had the steak with rice and onions. Both dishes were flavorful and definitely enjoyable. I could definitely go back in again if I ever head back or East, but maybe taking the Long Island railroad would be better since it is across the street from the train station. Definitely stop in for a drink and enjoy the cool little toys and designs around the restaurant. This restaurant definitely provides variety of you want to try something new!

Restaurant That Feels Like Family…read more My family and friends always visit this restaurant at least two or three times a year when we travel to the East End of Long Island, and every visit is a pleasure. This time, we ordered the Red Rooster salad, the Shopska salad, and the beet salad. For our main courses, we enjoyed the Chicken Valdostana and their signature dish, Maple Leaf Farms Duck. What makes this restaurant truly special is not only the food but also the warmth and hospitality of the family who runs it. The owner has Bulgarian-American heritage, and his wife and son, Christopher, always make us feel welcome. Christopher deserves special recognition. Whether he is working behind the bar as a bartender or serving guests as a waiter, he always takes the time to talk with us. We genuinely enjoy our conversations with him, and his friendly, personal approach makes every visit feel special. The hospitality is sincere, and we never feel like just another customer. Instead, we feel as though we are visiting friends and are welcomed as part of their family. It is rare to find a restaurant where the people make you feel so comfortable and at home. This family creates a warm, inviting atmosphere that keeps us coming back year after year. With a band setting up behind us we settled in for a relaxing evening. Read a few reviews about the Windamere ( located above the marina) which made us pause but hunger outvoted hesitancy so we threw caution to the wind. Honestly I was pleasantly surprised. Even though we did not have a reservation we were warmly greeted and immediately seated on the outside patio area overlooking both the marina and band. Our server Victoria was outstanding, the epitome of excellent customer service skills; professional, friendly, engaging, menu knowledgeable and attentive. The food was very good starting with the baked clams and mussels. The baked salmon and seared tuna dishes were well seasoned, moist and flaky, the salmon served over rice and asparagus. Found the food good, slightly under portioned compared to other establishments but reasonably priced. During dinner we enjoyed listening to the band ( Radio Flashback) which we had seen previously. Overall a pleasant evening at Windamere enjoying some good food and drinks while listening to some great music. Although there is inside seating I'd recommend the outside patio area. Just a word ( or two) of caution the bar area overlooks the marina pool which can be a little noisy so if your eating would not recommend that patio area and just remember the lyrics to the song 867-530/Jenny you'll understand later .

The location is very nice, situated on a small marina - not the type of marina we are accustomed to on the South Shore, but certainly pleasant. Since it was a beautiful day, we chose to sit outside. We started with the fried calamari and baked clams, followed by the lobster rolls - one hot and one cold - so we could each try half of both. Unfortunately, the food was underwhelming. The baked clams were overcooked and very dense with bread and cheese, making it difficult to really taste the clams. The fried calamari were what I would describe as "extra crispy"--in reality, they were over-fried. The lobster rolls were just okay. They weren't bad, but they weren't particularly impressive either. At $20 each for the Tuesday special, they were probably worth the price, but not something we'd go out of our way to have again. The service, however, was the biggest disappointment. We waited a long time for our waitress to come over just to take our drink order, and then waited even longer for the drinks to arrive. At one point, we even had to ask the busboy where our waitress was. After we finished our appetizers, the dishes remained on the table throughout our lobster rolls. We had to ask several times for water and eventually had to request that the dishes be cleared. Where was our waitress? Absent for most of the meal. We ultimately had to ask for the check when she finally came over to clear the table. What made the experience even more noticeable was that the table next to us, with four women and a different server, appeared to receive excellent service. Their drinks and food were ordered and delivered efficiently throughout their meal. The setting is nice, and perhaps our experience was simply an off day. Unfortunately, between the disappointing appetizers, average lobster rolls, and especially the inattentive service, we will most likely choose another restaurant the next time we're visiting Long Island's wine country
