This is a new place that I didn't notice before. I was getting off the 1 train at Van Cortland and was hungry. I saw on my Seated app that Claudy's was a highly recommended Peruvian restaurant nearby. I placed an order for chicken empanadas which came out quickly. The empanadas here were reasonably priced. They served it to me in an average sized cardboard box to go. Portion sizes were average. Everything was cooked well and delicious. There was a long line of people outside the door which is to be expected on a Saturday evening. Everyone can pick up a quick meal before they board the train or go to the park and have a picnic. Several customers in the store said the chicken is highly recommended. They have several different flan flavors that I plan to try next time I am around. Food is amazing - I have loved the flan (especially coffee) and the aji de gallina for many years, so I decided on Claudy's for a catered party ("0" birthday!) for about 30. OMG, people are still asking me where the food came from! The order of aji, lomo saltado and verde empanadas were all huge hits. "The potatoes were to die for" - said person who avoids carbs. I appreciated Richard talking me through what would work best heating on chafing dishes and helping me get the food ordered. Also noted: I especially have appreciated their support of the neighborhood. Back in the pandemic, you could add a meal for the Friendly Fridge to your order. While I was there to pick up a pre-event order, a subway worker came in. She asked about a menu and when they close. You could see her disappointment when the man behind the counter (not an owner) said they close at 8:00. She gets off at 8:02. Attended a birthday party catered by Claudy's kitchen and it was very impressive. The adult boxes were packed with 1/4 chicken, rice and beef empanada. It was very delicious and very well thought out. The green sauce was out of this world. I really enjoyed it. The kids also had their own boxes - same thing but with chicken drumsticks to make it easier for them to eat. One kid asked for another serving because it was that good. The flan was also nice and smooth as well. I opted for the passion fruit rather than vanilla although in hindsight I should have tried both! Decided to see what the hype was about since I saw it on TikTok. This place is definitely worth the hype. Claudys Kitchen has been a catering staple for my department for the last two years! Just had our annual meeting featuring Claudys empanadas and they were delicious!! The crowd favorite is always the lomo and pork empanadas! Theyre great for portable meal for a gathering. Definitely get the green sauce, no empanada is complete without it. We love their flan but with the hot weather we decided to go with their apple pie empanadas which were eaten up ASAP with how delicious they were. As a Peruvian born and raised who has tried Peruvian cuisine all over the world, this place definitely doesn't make the list. I was very disappointed with the lack of flavor, and they don't provide sauce with the dishes (you have to pay extra for it). Authentic Peruvian food always has sauce. Not even dressing was provided for the salad. I made a large order consisting of chicken, fried rice, lomo, ají de gallina, and empanadas. It was nothing special. My niece said the best thing was the Inca Kola. Only gave 2 stars for the pretty and environmentally friendly packaging. Reply to Rich B: These things may be according to your menu, but the food we received did NOT include it. Our salad did not have vinaigrette. As a customer I would recommend providing at least 2 of the 2 oz sauces for a whole chicken. I hope you use this review to further improve your business. read more

Fabulous!! The chicken with their green sauce was perfection. I ordered the breast and the salad with added avocado. The chicken was so moist and tasty on its own but their green sauce was amazing. My friend got me a gift card. When I tried to use it on-site, the staff informed me that it was good only for online orders. ?!?! When I try to order online, either the web site isn't accepting orders or the restaurant is closed. (Closed Sunday evenings?!) I've been to Claudy's Kitchen just once in person, and the food was fine but certainly nothing special. They also didn't have two of the menu items we wanted. These folks don't know how to run a restaurant. I've given up trying to get anything for my gift card, so I guess that's $50 profit for Claudy's Kitchen. Their gift cards are a scam. read more

I came here after service and I must say it was very good. We ordered the 2 two chicken family meals. I think it was good it was about 13 of us and we took food home. We ordered a lot of food; we had the yucca fries which ti me were amazing. We also had pork and beef chufan which was ok. The chicken was good as well. The chica morada was also good. The empanada was amazing and I have had many empanadas but this was delicious. I also had the flan which was ok. The service was amazing; the gentleman was very patient and asked us if we liked the food. He was very friendly and so was his wife the chef. The green spaghetti was also good. The service was great. I would definitely go back to eat more empanadas, try their ceviche and the lomo saltado. Got the empanada - lomo saltado (steak strip). It was baked, not fried, which is a little less tasty but I like that it's a healthier option. The steak was cooked well, just tender enough. I really liked the few bites where the meat juices coated the inside of the shell. Next time, I'd prioritize an empanada with an even more tender meat, like ground beef or chorizo. I think it's a more pleasing bite when you finish chewing the empanada shell and meat simultaneously. With the lomo saltado, you're often left chewing the steak by itself. I've been to Claudy's kitchen a few times before writing this review and I must say the food is always fresh and so delicious. A must have from here is the ceviche and pollo ( chicken) a la brasa. This is the type of place you wish you had in your neighborhood and the type of place well worth the travel if it's not close to where you live. They're famous for their empanadas and their flan (and rightfully so!), but there's so much more. Their roasted chicken is amazing- flavorful and perfectly spiced throughout. And their huancaina pasta is perfection (the owner tells me it's made even better when you ask for a topping of smoked rib meat. Next time. Definitely!). One of the true signs this food is made with care beyond all the good flavors (their sauces! their chicks morada!) and the Michelin Bib Gourmand rating (!!), is the real attention to all the details. The perfect example is if you order a family meal it comes with sides and a salad...at other establishments that pride themselves on a great roast chicken, the sides - especially the salad- is an afterthought.
