I have been a fan of Flor de mayo & have been going to their two other locations for years. Excited to try this new addition. The place is more spacious, the decor is okey & the waitress is attentive. No crowd lunch time on a weekday so I dont feel rush unlike the original Flor de Mayo. Looks like they really trying to replicate the original taste. By the looks they almost did, but the taste is kind of dissapointing especially if you are expecting exactly thesame quality & deliciousness. All considering, ill probably still consider this restaurant if im around Washington Heights.

Flor de Mayo has an intimate and genuine mood and truly, this makes for a lovely dining experience. From the attentiveness and patience of their staff, to their delicious food, vast menu, and perfect pricing. If you have never experienced a Chino-Latino dining scene for yourself, Flor de Mayo is absolutely the perfect place to start! I came here with a friend and we ordered 3 items form their lunch special menu: 1. Their pulled beef with sweet plantain 2. House special fried rice 3. Pork chops with tostones (We also each ordered a drink... non-alcoholic). Our bill totaled $63 for all of this food and we had so much food left over. I highly recommend this restaurant to some local foodies and I can guarantee that you will have an equally amazing dining experience! P.s they give you complementary bread with your meal. I have yet to be failed by a restaurant that does this :)

Flor de Mayo is an UWS staple and I am excited to have them in my neighborhood. I've been to the Washington Heights location twice (the last time with a group of 10) and have ordered takeout once. The staff gives me the impression that they are really trying to match the quality and taste of the other established locations, which is why I am giving them 5 stars at this time. I've tasted their fried yuca, pork chops, fried boneless chicken, baked chicken, tostones, sweet plantains, house special rice and chorizo appetizer. No complaints whatsoever. Portions are out of this world huge. The lunch specials are worthwhile if you want to try them out and save some bucks. As of December 2022, they did not have a full liquor license but had a good selection of beers and sangria.

This place is new in the neighborhood and is following its other famous locations. Unfortunately this place hasnt lived up to the standards of the other locations. The shrimp lacked flavor what so ever and was a little on the bitter side due to the garlic being undercooked. The lomo and fried rice was just ok. A little pricey and I probably wouldnt come back to this location. I will continue on taking the trip to the other locations.

My college bestie brought me here with their family on an NYC sightseeing trip. After hours in the this warm and charming location was a welcome stop. Lots of indoor seating (wooden bench and chair) setup. Food was fresh and flavorful. Service was fast and pleasant. I sampled everything you see and enjoyed every nibble. The food was good but the restaurant was too closed in and the waiters took forever to take our order and especially bring us our check. Not to mention the atmosphere was a bit wild with a group we had next to us that couldn't handle their drinking smh. I would just come here to order out and not stay.

I've been going to Flor De Mayo for over 15 years, frequented the broadway & Amsterdam location many times. Finally got to try the Washington heights location. The inside is nice, workers were friendly & courteous. The service for take out and dine in were a bit slow. The food was good, same as the other locations. But the price seems to have gone up. Ample seating is available and there are a few tv's by the bar.

Always a 10 for me! They never ever disappoint. It's my go to for any date night, girls night, to-go spot. I just love them. The shrimp Lomo is my favorite. I get the steak Lomo to switch it up from time to time. The drinks ALWAYS HIT! If you haven't been here, are you really eating? Lol

BEWARE SCAMMY SCUMMY RESTAURANT My partner and I are on a quest to find the best Peruvian restaurants in the city. We've experienced both great and disappointing ones, but none as dreadful as this place. Our visit felt like a scene straight out of Gordon Ramsay's "Kitchen Nightmares." We entered with high hopes but found no host at the entrance. Eventually, we found a seat. Unfortunately, the only two bathrooms face half the restaurant, ensuring a constant unpleasant aroma of bathroom during our meal. Despite this, we decided to focus on the food. We ordered fish ceviche, lomo saltado, half a chicken with fries, two sodas, and a margarita. The ceviche was a scam: 80% onion and 20% fish, for what was already a small fistful portion that lasted for 5 bites. Bland and utterly disappointing. When we asked for diet sodas, coke or pepsi, they had none--a rarity in any restaurant but something we decided to ignore again. Our main courses arrived. The lomo saltado was dry and flavorless, while the chicken was overly peppered and lacked the green sauce typical of Peruvian cuisine. They didn't even have mayonnaise either, another Peruvian staple and something that I have never seen any restaurant, not just Peruvian, lack. It felt like we were accommodating them rather than being served. The worst part was the margarita. Other than the color, there was no hint of mango taste and instead the taste of the cheapest alcohol ever that it wouldn't surprise me if I was told it was rubbing alcohol.  The menu listed the drink at $14, but the bill showed $18. They added $2 for mango flavor and another $2 because it was frozen--charges that are nowhere listed on the menu or communicated. I had never asked for a frozen margarita  or even given the option of frozen or on the rocks and instead had explicitly pointed at the $14 margarita on the menu. Not only have I never seen a restaurant add a charge for an on the rocks vs frozen drink before, but it had been THEIR decision to make my drink frozen, with additional charges, unbeknownst to me, so they could sneak it into my bill.  For the flavor, I was also told I had to pick lime or mango, there was never a discussion of anything extra. When I questioned this, the waiter pointed at a guy who by the looks of it probably had experience at having to defend the scammy tactics of the restaurant from unsuspecting customers and smuggly asked us what was the problem which I repeated to him. He showed no interest in addressing the issue and instead smirked at us saying that that's what it was. I looked at the menu again at the bottom where in small letters it said "Please order at risk" and realized now the true intent of the restaurant when stating this. I am disputing the charges with AMEX due to the fraudulent and deceptive practices of this restaurant. Only a desperate restaurant with no integrity would resort to such low tactics with false advertising and sneaking extra fees at the expense of their customers. I have never felt more scammed at eating scraps of mediocre food at best with the aroma of bathroom, a cocktail of orange rubbing alcohol, no condiments or basic sodas as an option, and a bill that shows the true character of this establishment and its tactics. Looking at other reviews afterwards, they are aware of what they are doing and this is a common tactic they employ, sneaking charges at unsuspecting customers hoping either they don't notice or will take the scam since they are of no help. It's clear they are not looking to change their habits. I urge you to report this with your credit card if they are of no help, dispute the charge, and report their fraud so they get flagged. We will never return and advise others to beware.

The vibe was cool, the service was excellent, and the $$$ food and drinks were delicious. This clean, modern, and cozy establishment provided not only an excellent dining experience but unbelievable entertainment, too. We inital went for dinner and drinks, but stayed when this wonderful artist and guitar player started to do their thing. Johnny Bliss sang & transported patrons to another place along with his talented string partner, Fabio. The singers voice is unbelievably beautiful. A true gift to the ears. He arrived around 8PM, and did a few sets until approx. 11pm. Apparently, these two artists are playing at NAPA on Fridays nights (not sure for how long). We had the meatballs, crabcake, and pork chop dinner (all yum). We had a few custom and signature drinks. Happy hour available until 7pm. Street parking out side. Conveniently located by MTA bus/trains. Totally recommend, will go again .

I had already paid $40 just to enter the lounge, and yet the security guard at coat check aggressively insisted I take off my "coat" and pay another $20 just to wear it--or $10 to check it. The problem? It wasn't even a coat. It was a dress, and I told him that. I even explained that I could technically wear it as a dress and that I only had something skimpy underneath, but he still kept arguing. He kept pushing me to take it off and said, "There are plenty of other people dressed like that," completely ignoring the fact that I was uncomfortable. Being told to basically strip down or pay more money after already paying $40 to get in felt harassing, humiliating, and absolutely unacceptable. The whole situation felt like a scam and a blatant cash grab. If management allows staff to treat guests this way, it says everything about how poorly this place is run. I won't be coming back.
