Small intimate and not overly loud myself and my colleagues set outside and enjoyed cocktails and the pleasant NYC weather for a few hours. It was great to be able to sit have music in the background that wasn't so loud we couldn't carry on conversation. After, I was really craving a dessert, so I went with the creme brulee-- not a fan! I was expecting an entirely different texture. Pop and Pour is a quaint cafe right off the bustling streets of Dyckman. They have ample outdoor seating, including a cute little elevated canopy with pillows and flowers. The inside looks pretty cozy, as there are only a few tables and seats at the bar. Even on a warm Saturday evening we were seated right away. The waitress was quick to tend to us. Their food menu offers a wide range of choices from tapas to entrees. Their drink menu has signature cocktails, classic cocktails, and good old beer and wine. To drink, I ordered the Fancy Flight. It was much more boozy than I expected! That pretty shady of orange was clearly a decoy. It's definitely a drink that's meant to be sipped slowly. I also tried the piña colada which was just okay. After learning how to make my own, I'm now a harsh critic of other piña coladas. A killer bee seemed to love it though and ran us out of our table to steal a sip. To eat, we ordered the truffle Mac and cheese, the coconut shrimp and a side of fries. The food did take a little on the longer side to come out, but I always assume that means it's being freshly made. The fries were epic! They managed to make something so simple into something so delicious. The coconut shrimp were also pretty good, although we weren't crazy about the sweet sauce that came with it. The Mac and cheese was good, not the best I've ever had but decent. The service was overall fantastic. We were checked on regularly and got our drinks quickly. This is a cute little cozy restaurant that has about 6-8 tables inside and 5-6 tables outside when the weather is nice. They also have a bar so you can probably order there too. They play good music but not too loud to the point where you can't hear yourselves talking. We came here for weekend brunch and it was pretty empty so you probably wont have issues with waiting. Some past reviews have mentioned $10 bottomless mimosas but that's no longer the case. They now charge $15 for 1 hour of unlimited mimosas. Their sangrias are just mediocre, honestly tastes pretty watered down and not much alcohol in it. I highly recommend the steak and fries - it's very tasty. It's skirt steak that comes with delicious sauce. Their fries are cooked to perfection just lightly crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. The breakfast flatbread was so-so, not something I would necessarily get again. It looks kinda like margherita pizza but with just cheese, bacon, tomatoes and topped with a fried egg. There's just not a ton of flavor to it for some reason - would've loved if there was some kind of tomato or marinara sauce on it. It comes with basil pesto but I barely could taste it. Also, try their churros -- so good!!! They're very light and somewhat hollow inside but comes with a chocolate dip and almost melts in your mouth. The dip is a little watery but still very yummy. (Brunch is until 4pm there's 2 hrs left and you're already running out of things???) My friend asked Yasiel what ancho is (ingredient listed in syrup served with waffles) and she didn't know, so my friend opted for plain maple syrup. The eggs were bland, steak was salty, home fries were ok. I asked for steak sauce and was told they don't have any... ????... but you sell steak?! NO???.... For $10 extra I opted for the unlimited mimosa for an hr, the mimosa was good and my waitress kept my glass full. It was also less than 1/2 a block from the A train, so it was a no brainer for me. They have indoor and outdoor seating and lucky for us there was a table for 2 outside in the shade. Nothing like eating al fresco in the summertime amirite? I ordered the eggs Benedict and she got the other kind of Benedict made with plantains and fried cheese. Believe me when I tell you both of them were amazing. The mimosas also kept flowing and the waiter was super attentive and definitely let us go past the hour since it was a bit slow at that time. This new spot on dyckman is phenomenally done. Outlets on the wall, plenty of seating for a small space, and a great assortment of drinks and small eats. Their brunch is reasonably priced for nyc (45~) and their menu mixes Spanish/Dominican influences with things you know like flatbreads, wings, salads, and burgers. I personally had the chicken and waffles (18 dollars cash, more with card) which was one of the best chicken and waffle dishes I've had in my life, the choice to use maple bacon syrup on top of a sweet potato waffle with the consistency of sweet potato pie inhibited me from leaving anything left for a yelp review. 5 out of 5 guys, you guys even impressed a southerner. There's a larger question of whether this new addition to dyckman will contribute meaningfully the larger community to stave off the incoming gentrification. But only time will tell. The only negative is that this spot isn't bigger. It's such an amazing intimate spot with amazing staff and even better food. Everything I had here was super rich and fresh, cooked to perfection. We started with some white wine and prosecco that was part of the happy hour and it surely didn't taste like typical house happy hour drinks in dyckman. Definitely higher quality at a nice discount. We then paired that with 3 crostinis for $12, the ricotta honey was my fav, with the mushroom coming in a close second, lastly the prosciutto fig. I was impressed with the ceviche portion size, the turkey meatballs were YUM. The buratta salad was so light and flavorful - perfect addition to make me feel like I was healthy. If I could describe the experience coming here in one word it would be... disappointing. We were looking for a place in the area and based on reviews Pop + Pour sounded like a great option. Came here with a few friends for drinks and dinner and everything from the service to the food left something to be desired. The group then went ahead and ordered the Imported Charcuterie board which was less than spectacular. The selection included "salumi" which were not good quality and resembled cold cuts from a supermarket. The prosciutto tasted old and the salami was oily and completely tasteless. When the entrees came out (over 45 minutes later) out of the 6 people at the table only one person actually enjoyed their food. She ordered the Pan Seared Chicken Breast and mentioned it was good. The rest of us.. not so much. I ordered the pop + pour salad with chicken and I while I get that salads are not meant to be the most delicious thing in the world, this was the blandest, saddest salad I've ever had in my life. The chicken was unseasoned and pan-fried which just did not pair well with bed of plain spinach and a couple of tomatoes and cucumbers. The dressing was so thick that it I couldn't put it over the salad. A whole mess. The service was also very confusing. The restaurant was pretty much empty and the food took ages to come out. The servers also forgot one person at the table's food completely and would come around and refill some people's water but not others which was just odd. When we got the tab we noticed that 18% gratuity was automatically added to the bill along with a $6 credit card fee. My only concern was that we came in at a weird time, Sunday afternoon while they were transitioning from brunch to dinner, the music was obnoxiously loud and it was hard for us to carry on a conversation. Dyckman in general is loud but being the vibe that this place gave off from what I read I thought I would be walking in into a more subtle ambiance.
