Avocado fried ride & pad Thai w/ chicken

Beautiful gastro bar in the Bronx, I've been here a few times and I've never been disappointed. The staff and vibes are great! Good for groups, date night or to catch a cute happy hour. My fav is the avocado fried rice, I've had the roasted salmon another time and it was perfect! Recom

I like this spot, first hit this up on father's day 2023, and have been back a couple times for happy hour. The food is solid, they have great happy hour deals, and it's the music is bumping. Very uptown like menu with the standards, the grub always hits the spots. A good place for a celebration, to grab a good bite with great drinks, or if you wanna have a date in a cool atmosphere this is one of those versatile spots.

Pulled up to Suyo Gastrofusion today and let me just say, don't come here expecting a quiet convo or deep existential debates over cocktails. This place is loud. Me and my friend were practically screaming across the table like we were trying to talk at a reggaeton concert. But hey, the DJ was clearly in their bag. My friend knew every track back to back, so someone behind the booth knows their audience. Didn't get food, but I did dabble in The Alchemist (comes with a cute lil' fire show that makes you feel like you ordered a magic trick). Fun? Yes. Strong? Absolutely not. I chugged it like juice and immediately pivoted to Jack Sours, shots, and hookah. Hookah's $35 cash only, with $20 refills. Pro tip: hit the ATM beforehand or risk awkwardly Venmo-ing your way into smoke. The space is deceivingly big, two levels, but it feels like three since the entrance is on a sunken level. Very lively, very active, great energy all around. The waiter was kinda slow, not sure if he was just overworked or zoning out, but honestly no real complaints. The vibes carried. Solid 4.5 out of 5. Would come back with louder friends and a backup drink plan.

Man so I hate a negative review ! Sad to say this won't be a goodie. Despite the awesome decor and lively music they play I was here to eat. The name boasts a strong experience for dining so I was prepared for a delicious meal. I will say the bang bang shrimp and mango guac were great starter options. I ordered the spicy pad Thai and I don't think I've ever disliked a meal so much in my life. The noodles were so soft the dish was watery. It actually looked like the meal was an egg drop soup or a rice noodle. The array of vegetables was a little random. Overall a miss. We were a very large group and the place was extremely packed so Meals came out on the very slow side which is def. Understandable. My friend paid for a private space and they actually had two large parties in the same section she requested for herself. She's not one to make a fuss but I believe you should get what you agree upon when you book restaurant spaces. We arrived around 7:30 and she didn't get her meal until almost 10pm and everyone else in our group had already eaten. That seems like a long time to me but that could be subjective. I will say some of the people around me did enjoy their meals the Lomo seemed to be good and the mofongo was tasty. I would like to say I would give it another shot but unlikely. Maybe a good spot for just drinks if the cocktails were solid. I didn't have any so hard for me to say.

My boyfriend and I came by for dinner to celebrate Valentine's Day. We had a great time! Great music and entertainment. The service was a bit slow. They took a very long time to bring out our food and when they did, they only brought out the entree and forgot the appetizer which they then brought out after. Aside from that, the food was very delicious. There was a prefix menu and we had the ceviche for appetizer and the surf & turf as the entree.

I've visits Suyo previously but never came on a late night. There was a live band and DJ. We were seated right away on the upper level. Atmosphere was very chill, music was good. There was a nice crowd on this night considering the bad weather. Our server was tentative, too bad didn't get her name. The good was good. We're ordered the Suyo salad for the table which was not bad at all. We ordered an appetizer (see picture below) that was quite interesting but very tasty. It was sweet plantains fried in some sort of bread batter and came with a bean sauce. As I said it was very good. For entre we ordered the roasted salmon that came with Thai rice. The salmon was good, the rice I did not care for. And Drinks were amazing! Overall, great spot with good energy and music.

Overall Thoughts: This is an innovative Asian-Latin Michelin Bib Gourmand spot in the Bronx with friendly service and a low-light, intimate vibe. The dish presentations were creative, aesthetic, and diverse in flavors, colors, and textures. I came to celebrate my partner's birthday and appreciated the care that the staff put into making it special. Definitely recommend this spot for a little brunch/dinner splurge or for special occasions. They also have live music that starts at ~8:30pm. Food I tried: - Confit Duck Mofonguitos (4/5): I liked the presentation of this dish and how it had many diverse textures-- with a soft, grainy mofongo base, crunchy pickled veggies, and tender duck. I felt the flavor of the mofongo base was a little bland though, but the duck itself was quite good and flavorful. - Yakitory Tofu (4.3/5): This was a delicious vegetarian option with a nice tangy, sweet purée flavor. The tofu texture was perfect, with a crispy exterior and soft interior. - Roasted Salmon (4.6/5): Enjoyed this one-- the salmon was tender, flaky and umami, and the fried rice was really good, full of flavor. I liked the tangy marinade which paired well with the neutral creamy avocado flavor. - Chocolate Lava Cake (5/5): This was soft, rich, decadent, and delicious. Though they don't do complimentary birthday desserts, I ordered this cake with sparkler candles for $13, which they brought out for us as the live performer sang happy birthday. -- Price (relative to peers): 4/5 Food: 4.4/5 Ambience: 4.9/5 Service: 5/5 Overall Value: 4.5/5

I so wanted to love this place based on the reviews, and the other couple I was with were equally exictied. We came about 7 pm on a Thursday night, and I was not sure we were in the right place. I am not sure if this plave knows what it wants to be? Is it a bar, a restaurant, or a nightclub? Insta posts show this lovely soft music/date plae...however you walk in and the lights are low, flashing lights, and they had an actual DJ (Leslie) that had the music so loud people were shouting at each other. My friends apple watch went off and told her "warning excessice noise volume." There isn't even a dance floor, so I am not sure why in the world the music would be that loud. What was being played would have been fine (club music), just turned down. Service - we were seated right away and then ignored by every server for over 20 minutes. The servers would walk by, look at us, and keep walking. We almost left. Finally, a manager came by and asked if we had been helped and took our order. Apps came out in a decent amount of time, maybe 10-15 min, and they all looked good. My friend said her potstickers were good. We had the pork boa buns that had soggy bottoms and way overcooked pork (pork jerky). However, the pickled carrots on top were amazing. We also ordered the capellini steak. Which is steak, pasta, and mixed greens on top. It came out missing the pasta. When I asked the server, she said that is how it came, and "capenelli" means something else, but she could not tell me what it meant? I showed her a picture of what calenelli Pasta was, and she just shrugged - she did offer to go get a plate of pasta - we declined. My friend had several items missing off her dish. Which hey if your out of stuff, change your menu or just tell people - we get it. The supply chain is tough , but be honest. The dessert was a cheesecake with strawberries ontop- the strawberries were still frozen (they should not have been) but it tasted good. Overall highs and lows but the music being turned up so loud, poor service, confused menu...not sure why this place is so beloved??

Ask the Community - Suyo Gastrofusion

Is parking available?

It is very hard to find parking so my answer will be no.

Is the music diverse?

The musical selection is slightly diverse. I would say 75% Latin and 25% other genres.

How much are they honestly being safe re: covid?

Temp checks and sanitizers at the door, spaced out seating. Mask enforced at all times except while drinking or eating and they sanitize the tables after guests. I've seen them do it the last two times I visited in November. So very honest,… Read more

Is this a good place for a date?

Yes, definitely

What time does the kitchen close?

11pm... However it's open early in the day.

Any vegan options, was invited for a dinner lol?

Yes!!!!!! Ask for the Avocado rice no Egg. There are Fries etc menu is inclusive!

Do they do sunday brunch?

Yes, they do. I am sure that you will love it; the food is truly delicious.

What time is happy hour and what are the specials?

Every day from 4pm to 7 pm. 6 dollar margaritas, sangria, classic old fashion, and bubbles & dreams cocktail. 2 dollars off select beers. And 5 dollar select shots.

Is this a good place to bring a 4 year old?

We had a large group and someone from our group brought her three year old. He did fine. They have high chairs as well . My advice is go on a night when it isn't too busy or crowded. The music can be a bit loud so keep that in mind.

Will there be brunch?

There's a brunch option now! Check with the establishment for details

What's the age limit to go here and is there hookah available? How old do you have to be to purchase hookah?

No hookah! Personally for me it's for older kinda crowd. Obviously you have to be 21 years or older to drink. So expect to show ID when ordering beverages. They do have live entertainment daily that's a huge plus.

Every time I try to come here it's CLOSED! When do you open?

We are so sorry to heard that, we open Thursday - Saturday 5:00pm-2:00am, hope to see you soon around!

Is there food?

Yes! The kitchen is finally open and there's a bar menu

The vibe was cool, the service was excellent, and the $$$ food and drinks were delicious. This clean, modern, and cozy establishment provided not only an excellent dining experience but unbelievable entertainment, too. We inital went for dinner and drinks, but stayed when this wonderful artist and guitar player started to do their thing. Johnny Bliss sang & transported patrons to another place along with his talented string partner, Fabio. The singers voice is unbelievably beautiful. A true gift to the ears. He arrived around 8PM, and did a few sets until approx. 11pm. Apparently, these two artists are playing at NAPA on Fridays nights (not sure for how long). We had the meatballs, crabcake, and pork chop dinner (all yum). We had a few custom and signature drinks. Happy hour available until 7pm. Street parking out side. Conveniently located by MTA bus/trains. Totally recommend, will go again .

I had already paid $40 just to enter the lounge, and yet the security guard at coat check aggressively insisted I take off my "coat" and pay another $20 just to wear it--or $10 to check it. The problem? It wasn't even a coat. It was a dress, and I told him that. I even explained that I could technically wear it as a dress and that I only had something skimpy underneath, but he still kept arguing. He kept pushing me to take it off and said, "There are plenty of other people dressed like that," completely ignoring the fact that I was uncomfortable. Being told to basically strip down or pay more money after already paying $40 to get in felt harassing, humiliating, and absolutely unacceptable. The whole situation felt like a scam and a blatant cash grab. If management allows staff to treat guests this way, it says everything about how poorly this place is run. I won't be coming back.
